The lovely folks over at HAMSTER have been treating us to some Neo Geo classics on the Nintendo Switch eShop while we await Nintendo's own reboot of the Virtual Console. One of the lesser known games in the Neo Geo library, called Over Top, will be coming out on 27th April in Europe priced at £6.29 - according to the 'coming soon' area of the eShop. North American details are yet to be confirmed.
Over Top is a top down racer that builds on the groundwork laid out by developer ADK's previous racer Thrash Rally. It's certainly worth a look when it lands on the eShop, as this was a very popular genre back in its day. Let us know if you plan to pick this one up.

It must be really easy for Hamster to do these NEO GEO ports for Switch. What number game is this now? Double figures at least.
Looks like Drift Out but with normal cars. Cool.
After you've played a game like Drift Out this just pales in comparison. But probably licensing issues for the rally racers, too bad.
Also Drift Out 94 had a great soundtrack
I really miss the top down racer style of game. This might be the first Neo Geo game I get.
Looking at this just makes me realise how much I want proper SEGA arcade racing games on the Switch.
It's the closest I'll get to my beloved Micro Machines, so I'll give a shot.
Thrash Rally please hamster 😀
@SLIGEACH_EIRE They aren't really ports. They are emulated. They just time their releases but everything should be ready.
Eventually they patch the emulator for specific titles.
It's a decent game, though not a classic like Drift Out. Just decent.
The King of Fighters '94 for example is a true classic and has virtues other titles in the serie missed out like classic portraits, classic gameplay (classic is that very good, like the new one), hard difficulty, good story.
I think OverTop, as decent as it is, can be skipped for Drift Out or Trash Rally when they will come (hopefully).
Another ADK game huh? So the chances of us getting Twinkle Star Sprites are pretty damn good.
I wonder if the prequel "Trash Rally" will show up down the line...
@meppi Let's hope it so! That will be definitely PERFECT for the platform, I will buy it in a nanosecond for my two daughters.
I don't understand why they published this before Twinkle.
Twinkle is cool.
I don't think Neo Drift Out will come out due to it using licensed cars (Toyota Celica, Subaru Impreza and Mitsubishi Lancer)
@Tetsuro @Shiryu "Trash" Rally? Really, people?
And you call yourselves Neo Geo fans... tsss....
Even with taking all these shortcuts (some of which I didn't even know about) it took the player of this level a heck of a whole lot of time to get to first place.
But it's an amusing game, though. Might not be as good as Neo Drift Out, but still good enough to have a decent amount of fun with if this type of game suits you.
Take the arcade with you
Looks like a really, really crappy version of Power Drive Rally on Atari Jaguar
never heard of this, I want it!
@Emperor-Palpsy - Do you have a computer with a Steam account? I don't know if these are available on other storefronts, but they are on Steam and they don't require a beefy rig to run them well in general.
Mini Moto Racing EVO (I recommend)

Little Racers Street (not bad)

Blaze Rush (Mad Max style - not bad)

Those are some of the better ones on Steam PC.
Hmm. Never played this one. I'll definitely grab it if it pops up on the NA eshop.
@EternalDragonX I wouldn't knock it so soon if you like this type of game. Power Drive was okay in my opinion, but the controls are more "loose" if you know what I mean. Games like Over Top, Thrash Rally and Neo Drift Out on the Neo Geo have tighter controls, actually making them play smoother and it also makes it somewhat easier to navigate the vehicle when driving faster. In Power Drive I regularly over-steered, especially on the more difficult courses.
By the way: I didn't even know that the Jaguar also had a version of this game. I used to play it on my Amiga and I know there were SNES and Genesis version of it. There was even a DOS version available as well, although back then, consoles were the better option for those type of games, in my opinion.
Nice!! Looks like Hamster is exploring the whole entire Neo Geo library!! This game is decent and from what I know never before available on a home console. And something totally different and needed for the Switch!! For these reasons and to show my support for something different in the Neo Geo lineup, Day 1 for me!! Spice it up Hamster and keep em coming!! My wallet is ready!! Getting itchy Sega?? We're waiting for you!!
You know, if you just wanna port the whole Neo Geo library I won't be mad at 'cha.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Not to mention they're releasing them for PS4 and XBONE at the same time as well (Different games, but at least 1 every week for each system).
They've also dated Fatal Fury for the 20th too.
I honestly had no idea that there was a racing game for Neo Geo? News to me.
Nice! Always up for more racing games on a Nintendo console!
I like Overtop, but it's not for everyone. I wouldn't recommend it to people unless they knew what they were getting as it's light on "content" compared to other racers of this type. It's got the one big track, as I recall. The game is more about trying the different cars and finding shortcuts. It just might not be what people expect. Definitely a game I'd recommend reading the review for when that's posted, for those interested.
@shonenjump86 There's actually three racers on Neo Geo:
Thrash Rally, shown in the video in comment #11, and then there's Neo Drift Out, which is arguably the best of the three:
Here's a good review of it:

@ThanosReXXX
Cool, I'll take a look at it. Thanks
@shonenjump86 You're welcome.
I was going to get this but ive decided to pass after watching the video. Its not just this game. I bought the golf game which is pretty fun to play but i hate the way these SNK games are setup. I just hate the way they look. I never was a fan of SNK back in the day but was a huge TG16/pce fan. So i will wait for that stuff and pick up WonderBoy this week
