Re: Ubisoft Share Price Tumbles After Dire Sales Report

Their games have some quality content, but most of them are so bloated you get bored between the greatness.

Too bad Mario Rabbits didn’t deliver for them, but it’s a niche game, sonI wonder what the actual results are.

Also, they devalue their games so quickly, it’s weird that ANYONE buys them full price.

Re: Best Of 2022: Is It Ever A Good Idea To Start At 'The Beginning' Of Series Like Zelda Or Dragon Quest?

ketrac

Games like the Batman: Arkham series, play in release order. Origins doesn't really matter to the main trilogy anyway, but is a great game in its own right.

Zelda? Start with the newest. Botw. with the exception of Majora's Mask and now, Tears, there are no direct sequels.

I see some recommendations here that are totally convoluted, and will lead to massive burnouts for newer players.
Just thinking of the mess that is kindom hearts continuity across different platforms is the reason I'm not ever gonna play those games.

Re: Editorial: Happy Holidays From Nintendo Life

Merry christmas. Hope you all have a good one.

For next year, I wish:

  • more in depth articles
  • fewer clickbaits without substance

I could be willing to pay a couple euros a month for premium articles and video content.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 24th)

ketrac

Finished The Inner World: The Last Wind Monk last night.

Playing some MK8D, Splatoon 2 and Botw Master mode while away on xmas vacation.
Will get back to Immotals Fenyx Rising and Guardians of the Galaxy next week, both on Game Pass.

Might pick up Disco Elysium if I finish GOTG. Haven't decided on platform yet.

Re: Feature: 7 Series That Need A Strategy Spin-Off On Switch

If anything, I'd love a new Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds. That was a great RTS, made in the Age of Empires 2 engine, from the AOE2 devs. Just not for Switch.

A well made Star Wars tactics game could be great, but would need a lot more horsepower to look and perform as great as it deserves. Obvious multiplat.

Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Has Been Updated To Version 2.2.1, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

@6969sixnine6969 Great job on ignoring other factors.

They’re making other games. It’s a good time to be a Nintendo fan, if you love new stuff.
There’s never ever been more or better content on a Nintendo console than on Switch.

At least base your criticism on something real, like their terrible online system, cash grab amiiboo plastic crap, and treatment of classic catalogue.

It would also be fine if you simply said «I really really want a new Mario kart, more than anything else». I look forward to the next gen of Mario kart too.

@6969sixnine6969

Makes business sense to wait with a new Mario kart until a major hardware upgrade. Also makes sense if design is hindered by tech.
It's hard to say how a Mario kart 9 would fit into the Switch portfolio right now, closing in on the end of its life, considering MK tends to be evergreen tittles that sell well through an entire console lifespan.

MK9 has to be absolutely incredible to outdo MK8.

@Anti-Matter I believe you're wrong on pretty much all your points except one.

More content for a game that has sold almost 50 million units, is a good thing for players. I'd also argue that value for money isn't that bad either.
25 Usd/euro for the pass, or included in the NSO EXP, is especially good value IF you have the family pass.
Could've been more interesting if it had more system / customization updates. Recent item options were a welcome surprise I'd like to see more of.

Drip feeding it over almost two years is bad, though.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Gets Official ESRB Rating

ketrac

@MarioBrickLayer TLDR, no.
https://www.esrb.org/faqs/#do-esrb-raters-play-the-games-they-rate

ESRB raters do not play through games during the rating process for a variety of reasons. First, many games can have upwards of 50 hours of gameplay, so requiring a minimum of three raters to play through hundreds of physical (boxed) games rated annually would be impractical. Additionally, games are player-controlled and enable many different permutations of gameplay depending upon how the player decides to approach a situation. We do, however, play-test many games after release to help ensure all pertinent content was disclosed during the rating process.
