Re: Nintendo Is Unique, Different And Does Its Own Thing, Says Xbox Marketing Boss

jeffri

@MarkyVigoroth Well, Gamecube goes to disc because it's cheaper to produce and could hold higher capacity. They have been experimenting with CD since SNES era (that SNES CD add-on). Wii U goes to HD is a natural thing, with technology advancing. Both are meant to happen, it's a natural evolution of console, not because Nintendo listen to criticism and change because of that.

Re: Rejoice, The Wii U Has Finally Outsold Sega's Ill-Fated Dreamcast

jeffri

NX is too soon for 2016, 2017 is more likely. Holiday 2016 could be possible, but doubt it. Anyway, what interesting of Wii U sales is that it mostly stable year-on-year, instead of declining. The software also sold very well. It's sad to see the hardware figures, though I'm sure Wii U will turns profitable for Nintendo.

Re: More Details Emerge on How Nintendo Accounts Will Work

jeffri

Finally! Looks good to me. And I'm glad about earning point by just playing games, I mean, it's been a while since Club Nintendo and I have bought a lot of games without getting any coin (I'll probably had 2-3 rewards by now). So hopefully, my purchases in the last couple of months could earn me some point in the new Nintendo Account.

Re: More Details Emerge on How Miitomo Will Work

Looks like the social network in Nintendo style. Okay, I'm going to install this for sure. Maybe stuff like Streetpass mini-games is expected too. Yeah, I won't mind being able to collect puzzles with Streetpass-like feature on smartphone. I mean, it's easier to Streetpass with someone with smartphone than with 3DS.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes Launches at Number One in Japan, But With Sales a Long Way Behind Predecessors

jeffri

@Varathius this! Some lag and disconnect is inevitable, but it's a super fun multiplayer game. And I'm multiplayer hater myself, never got into MH4U online, terrible at Smash Bros and Mario Kart online. But I enjoyed Tri Force Heroes a lot.

Regarding sales, well, I think it's quite decent. I'm sure it'll get some legs, maybe not Splatoon tentacles (sorry, can't resist), but should still at the top chart during the holiday. Of course, we can't exactly compare it to single-player main Zelda entry, but for a multiplayer game that re-using most ALBW assets, it's doing good enough.

Wii U finally back to 4 digits after a long stretch of 5 digits. Overall, a slow week.

Re: Talking Point: Five Potential Reveals Coming From Nintendo's Financial Briefing

jeffri

Club Nintendo successor and QoL update is more likely in my opinion, they were long due for update now. Statement of intent is obvious, NX is still quite far away as we'll only get the detail next year, so they don't want to lose any Wii U and 3DS sales yet.

DeNA games, nah, don't think so, wasn't a good place for game reveal, but maybe just mention to stay tune for news very soon. Tie-in and licensing, it's possible.

I'm more interested in sales figure, especially Fire Emblem and some other. But most likely we'll only get statement for strong performance of Splatoon and Super Mario Maker, while for 3DS... umm, what's 3DS big releases again in last 3 months? AC:HHD?

Re: Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes Originally Didn't Have a Single Player Mode

jeffri

The single player experience definitely feels like an after-thought. The multiplayer experience is very fun, and I personally think the lack of chat/voice chat made the game more accessible. Sure, sometime it's tricky to solve puzzles when no one in the team figured it out yet, but slowly we can always solve the puzzle in the end, and that process is what make the experience so fun. I can easily give this game a 9 for the multiplayer, but only 6 for single player.

Re: Poll: The Tricky Issue of Retail Games as Download-Only Releases

jeffri

I'm fine with download games for handheld console, but home console, the download size will be too big for me to handle, not just speed, but also data cap (the download cost could be as high or half the game price, if say it's a >20GB download). Fortunately, I'm handheld gamer only for now and many of my games are digital and most game were < 1GB, while some got into 2-3GB territory, but that's mostly fine for me. That said, for large games, I prefer physical version unless it's digital only or have an irresistible discount (I got RE:Revelation in digital because of discount). For the future, games will be bigger, but connection cost will likely go down too, so my stance won't change.

Re: Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash Details Revealed, Including amiibo Support and Rosalina

jeffri

Wow, nice to see people opinion changing. I watched some AC: Amiibo Festival gameplay and some comments seems to change their opinion too. I think Metroid Prime: Federation Force could do that too when more detail comes. TriForce Heroes did that to me, I never thought I'll get it day one and here I am have it preloaded. Despite E3 disappointment, it looks like their games shape up very well. I don't expect any of these to have 9 or 10 scores, but they all seems to be averaged 7-ish easy.

Re: Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Passes Four Million Global Sales

jeffri

Well deserved! I have had a lot of fun with MH4U, although, same as my experience with MH3U, I was unable to complete it. I got a little further than MH3U, but it's been sucked a lot of dedication and game time that I haven't touched many other games I bought. I'll give it a play again one day (provided MHX didn't come to west, which I'll switch to that if it comes), but for now I'm going through my increasing backlog.

Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes (3DS)

jeffri

Day one for me. I was planning to play single player only, but the demo convinced me that the online could work. Slight lag aside, the demo has been super fun for me and I can't wait to enjoy the full game.

The 6/10 score seems too low, expected it to be a 7 to be honest. I think Metacritic average sounds about right.

Re: Sources Suggest Nintendo NX Is A Fusion Of Home And Mobile Hardware Powered By "Industry-Leading" Tech

jeffri

Interesting. Would love to know what architecture Nintendo went with this time. Common sense will be X86 on the home console unit and ARM on mobile unit. Game will be separate I guess if they go with this setup, but the mobile unit could tether to the home unit, making it the second screen and could support multiple mobile unit. Can't wait to hear more next year.

My guess will be a home console unit that is as strong as PS4 or a little better, and every purchase included a mobile console unit that's as strong as Vita or better. The price might compete with PS4 or maybe $50-$100 more. The mobile console unit could also be purchased separately for handheld user only.

I think that might be a good idea, keeping the idea of secondary screen gaming but drop the Gamepad in favor of mobile unit. Sort of like PS4 and Vita setup, but more integrated.

Re: Video: This is How Single Player Works in The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes

jeffri

Well, it looks doable... But the scarecrow appearance for the stale Link looks so sad, it's like it constantly reminds you that you are alone, that you should go out and find two friends with 3DS to play together. They really should make them more alive, or has some AI at least. That said, I'll give the demo a try. Hopefully, I could get online (for some reason, only MK7 allow me to play online and I have failed playing MH4U and Smash Bros online). It'll still a buy for me though regardless, as I love ALBW, so even if it's a sad solo play, I'll bear with it.

Re: Review: Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden (3DS)

jeffri

I liked the sprite based graphic, though unfortunately I'm not much into fighting game. The demo didn't do enough to convince me. Smash Bros is an exception though, the only fighting game that I could enjoy (I have SFIV that I bought on discount and can't enjoy it for some reason).

Re: Feature: The Biggest 3DS Games of 2015 - Q4 Edition

jeffri

Triforce Heroes, The Legend of Legacy, Stella Glow, Yo-kai Watch and Rodea is on my list. I'm in no rush though, so won't be day one, but will get it eventually. I think I'll get Rodea and Yo-kai Watch first however, to support poor Rodea and to know what the fuss about Yo-kai Watch.

Good time for 3DS gamer! 2016 has a lot to look forward as well. Fire Emblem Fates, Bravely Second, Hyrule Warriors, Ace Attorney 6, and more. Who knows, maybe SMT IV Final or Monster Hunter X (hopefully) could be on 2016 list too!

Re: Random: Isabelle Still Seems Upset At Negligent Animal Crossing: New Leaf Mayors

jeffri

I got New Leaf in Club Nintendo reward, have only started a new town and not even had my own house built yet... and haven't played it since then. If only 3DS was capable of multitasking or loading game is quicker, I might revisit it more, but I'm too lazy to quit my current running game just to play New Leaf. Sorry Isabelle...

But yeah, it's real life. Once a major is elected, most of them just left the town to run by itself anyway, the secretary did most of the work.
