Re: Feature: The Big Nintendo Direct Summary - 1st September

jeffri

Happy to see SMM on 3DS, although with concern if it is step down version of Wii U.

Mario Sports Superstar looks pretty good.

Ever Oasis caught my interest.

Pikmin side-scrolling spin-off looks pretty awesome.

Happy to see the RPGs featured. Overall a pretty good direct.

Re: Pokémon GO Predicted To Make More Than One Billion Dollars Worldwide In 2016

jeffri

This is possibly the best move Nintendo has done in recent memories. A game that is addicting enough, but don't offer the same experience as the main Pokémon game. This spark interest for the main game, instead of cannibalize it. And it's money maker too. We could only think that Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem mobile games has similar strategy, but don't think they could replicate similar success, especially Fire Emblem.

Re: Feature: Miitomo's Initial Success Doesn't Mask Lessons to be Learned for Future Nintendo Apps

jeffri

Well, with Miitomo getting stale and declining, I don't think Nintendo or DeNA could counter-act this fast enough. Unless they have new, fun features, it will keep declining IMO.

As it stands, Miitomo is too slow and useless as social app, too boring as a game. I understand that Nintendo wanted to keep kid-friendly nature for Miitomo, but only able to make friends face-to-face/connected to other social is a bummer. Part of what make social network fun is how we could interact with new people. We could befriend friends of our friend, but that is also a bit too restrictive. Anyway, they should benefit from endorsing celebrity/public figure and allow us to follow and visit them/visit our room.

One hope is how it could integrate with the new mobile games and NX in future. This could make or break Miitomo. But really, they need to fix Miitomo if they wanted it to be the hub that connect all. Make it lighter, faster and not as fancy. Allow us to connect with Nintendo gamer friend, having chatroom and group chatroom, with Miitomo figure talking to each other.

Re: Sonic Runners, SEGA's Mobile Release by the Sonic Team, is Getting Shut Down

jeffri

As unfortunate as it is, I think Nintendo would follow this step in maybe-not-so-far future. Mobile isn't the future for traditional game company, any mobile games featured their iconic character will always felt like a step down from their console game. And these games could break developers priority and harm their console game development, lose-lose situation. I hope I'm wrong though.

Re: SurveyMonkey Intelligence Estimates Four Million Users and Daily Revenue of $40,000 for Miitomo

jeffri

Well, the app is toooooo heavy, too much loading, it's very frustating to use as a social app. Which explain the average 8 mins usage very well, it drains the battery a lot. There isn't much to do in Miitomo right now, although the incentive of reward give me motivation to login everyday, answering 3 question, change clothes and sometime listening to 10 answer from my friends.

As it is, Miitomo fails as social app and fails as a game. I don't think anyone without Nintendo console would use it.

That said, I've already spent $20 for Miitomo coins because I wanted a costume (I never expected myself to spend any money, but here it is). I quite enjoy dressing my Mii, so I hope they will expand further on that. For example, give me a Fire Emblem costume and I'll be all over it!

Re: Community: Your Favourite 3DS Games - Fifth Anniversary Edition

jeffri

Pleasing result for me. Glad to see Liberation Maiden up there in honorable mentions, nice little game that is very addicting. A little disappointed that Kid Icarus Uprising didn't make the cut into top 10 (it's at least top 5 for me), but at least in honorable mentions. Happy to see both Fire Emblem are high on the list, and ALBW might be my most favorite Zelda ever (I just prefer 2D Zelda). Also Ace Attorney Trilogy on top!

Regardless, every single entry in this list is all awesome!

Re: Here's Why SNES VC Games Can Only be Played on a New 3DS

jeffri

@liveswired 3d classic is ported, they are like remaster in that sense. SNES VC is straight emulation. Surely you know the differences. Saying 3DS can run mega drive 3d classic in full speed is like saying 3DS can run N64 VC just because we have Ocarina of Time 3D.

Re: Here's Why SNES VC Games Can Only be Played on a New 3DS

jeffri

Emulation is an expensive process, surely old 3DS wasn't capable of running this smoothly, otherwise, it doesn't make sense for Nintendo to not release for old 3DS, they will have more money with larger user base.

Sure, they wanted to push N3DS sales, but Nintendo didn't really do N3DS exclusive strategy for pushing it. Since N3DS existence, only Xenoblade Chronicle is exclusive and we know it required more power, same as Unity games that isn't supported on old 3DS.

I just wish they will be more open and release GBA VC, end the Ambassador exclusive.

Re: Metroid Prime: Federation Force is Coming Sooner Than Expected

jeffri

It just so sad to see how the producer need to try and convince us that the game is his vision, he wanted to work on it and assure us of the quality, with awesome partner like Next Level Games even. Yet, the game seems to be doomed on arrival.

Honestly, I think rather than addressing the concern, Nintendo should just polish the game, to the point that it's too good to pass. While it looks fun, the recent trailer didn't convince me much yet.

Re: Nintendo Should Follow In Marvel's Footsteps And Produce Its Own Hollywood Movies, Say Producers

jeffri

I'm not sure about Mario movie, Zelda might not work as well as Link is usually silent, Starfox is too awkward for movie I guess. However, I can see Metroid movie can be decent, Fire Emblem epic story can work too, Kid Icarus anime movie will be awesome, and Splatoon of course, will be awesome too!

I agree that Nintendo need to expand to movie or other media a bit more, Pokemon success is the best example.

Re: Here's Exactly What Has Changed With Fire Emblem Fates' "Skinship" Petting Mode

jeffri

Well, good to know. Still a bummer though, but I guess the game couldn't pass T rating if they included this, sooo... at the end of the day, I'll prefer Fire Emblem selling better by approaching wider audience. Dual audio is something I wished they kept though, I played Awakening twice, once with Japanese and the other with English, and I loved the different experience with both.
