The beginning of the end?

When the 3DS Virtual Console was introduced, it brought with it the promise of giving classic portable games a new lease in life much the same as the Wii Virtual Console did for classic console games. With each new week, fans faithfully expect a mighty return for the service and each week they end up disappointed yet again. Now, it appears that Nintendo has reached a final decision on the release of Game Boy games.

A fan recently tweeted at Natsume inquiring about whether or not an obscure Game Boy game published by the company would ever see a release on the VC. The response the fan received was something that we've all known for a while now, but it's still some pretty tough news. Evidently, Nintendo is done with releasing Game Boy games for the service.
