Re: Japanese Games Market Falls To Lowest Point In 26 Years, But Full Picture Remains Elusive

jeffri

Pleased to see Fire Emblem Fates there in the top ten, even if it's barely made it. Interesting how all top ten is all games on Nintendo platform, yet, PS4 and Vita hardware sales has been decent this year. It seems the lack of diversity made games on Nintendo platform sell better overall, and third party also seems to only want to spend their time on high profile or franchise that guaranteed to sell well in Nintendo platform. Smaller games or experimental games seems to be all reserved to Sony platforn instead.

Re: New 3DS and Monster Hunter Continue to Lead in Japanese Charts

jeffri

Poor Genei Ibun Roku #FE, it looks quite interesting, but to be honest, it always lack polish to me, the character movement and expression looks awkward. The animation part is awesome though, and so with the song.

Sales is decent for Nintendo this week. Last two weeks is a surprise for Wii U, but holiday is over and now business returned as usual.

Re: Here are the Top Three Wii U and 3DS Games, According to Miiverse

jeffri

Not sure why so many hate on Tri Force Heroes, honestly, that game is my best moment of this year on 3DS (when you played with good peoples). Of course, single player is a 6 game, but multiplayer is easily 8 or 9 game. Anyway, I'm glad it's on the top, and obviously many have good time with that too.

Re: Review: SmileBASIC (3DS eShop)

jeffri

Looks great! I think I might get this just to mess around, although that'll be my first exposure to BASIC. Not sure if that's a valuable language to learn nowadays, at least we can have fun with it.

Re: Code Of Princess And Yumi's Odd Odyssey Studio Agatsuma Is No More

jeffri

Code of Princess is a nice game, enjoyed it a lot. I personally think it's a better beat-em-up than Senran Kagura, gameplay-wise, story is silly however (SK after all have VN segment for story, CoP only have a short segment before each stage). Yumi's Odd Oddisey also pretty good from my short time playing it, have to finish it someday.

Re: Nintendo's Move To Smartphones Helped It Top Japan's Gaming Stock Market

jeffri

If they don't have that DeNA deal, seems like their stock will be hovering at the same level as other Japanese publisher. Not that it's bad though... at least Nintendo intention is pretty clear with Miitomo, which means no main game or virtual console on mobile. Even with Miitomo release, I doubt Nintendo will please investor and if it fails, the stock will took a hit.

Re: Intriguing Nintendo Patent Points to 'Supplemental Computing Device' and Cloud Resources for a Gaming System

jeffri

So instead of a huge server (like what XBox One cloud computing promise), this utilize a network of Nintendo console and used idle console to provide computing power to the other while rewarding the idle console user. Pretty cool I think, it's P2P like Torrent, except the performance might fluctuate with each connected devices, as not everyone has the same internet.

More intriguing is the local one, this definitely bring possibility of handheld console that could harness the power of home console unit while playing on bigger screen. Whatever it is, this boost another hype for NX.

Re: Monster Hunter X Has Passed 2 Million Units Shipped in Japan

jeffri

Monster Hunter is an excellent game, the gameplay is very addicting. That said, the game requires a lot of dedication. I enjoy the time I played MH3U and MH4U, but damn, after 50 and 100 hours into the game respectively, I haven't even got close to the ending. And by the time I want to continue MH4U, MHX might have come and suck me another 100 hours and still far away from beating the game.

Re: Monster Hunter X (Cross) Storms to Japanese Chart Lead and Boosts New 3DS Sales

jeffri

Superb week for Capcom and Nintendo. What a beast MHX is, the next one capable of this feat will probably be YW3 I guess, except Nintendo surprise us with another Pokemon mainline entry before that. Wii U got a holiday boost and Splatoon still performing very-very well. Who would expect a 6-months old game still selling better than SMM every single week?

Re: Splatoon Bundle Boosts Wii U Sales in Japan as Project X Zone 2 Struggles

jeffri

Decent Wii U numbers. It appears the drop below 5 digits for the last couple of weeks is in anticipation for this bundle. Which in the end, it's not bad at all and as we enter holiday, this bundle will keep Wii U selling. A price drop might be needed soon, but probably not something we'll see this year.

I'm rooting for Tri Force Heroes, but it doesn't seem to have a long legs. It'll be soon in 5k territory. At least 100k is a guarantee, and who knows if the free DLC update in December could boost a little. Project X Zone 2, well, I don't expect crazy number for this. It's lower than the predecessor, but it's a sequel so might be expected. Not a bad week for Nintendo.

Oh, anyway, MHX will release soon and will sweep the chart away in the next 2 weeks.

Re: Video: Watch Kids React To The Original Pokémon Anime Television Series

jeffri

I have fond memories of this. Pokemon didn't air in TV here as far as I can remember, but I collected the VCD release that contains three episodes each. I remember checking a CD shop regularly to check if new episodes were up, they usually release two VCD every week or two. Unfortunately, the VCD stopped release when Johto just started and I haven't watched it since then. I bought Digimon this way too and the 2nd season as the box set.

Sadly, original anime VCD is death soon afterward. When DVD comes around, it's also brings along a huge piracy with it (who don't want an entire season in a single disc?), retail CD store suffers since then and closed one by one.

Re: Nintendo Download: 12th November (North America)

jeffri

I'll try the Badge game. Stella Glow someday... or if I bothered enough to go to a game store and spot a launch edition. Moco Moco Friends, I don't know... it's cute and charming to the point that I wanted it, but too girly for my man ego...

Re: Review: Yo-Kai Watch (3DS)

jeffri

@Seacliff thanks! So this game just lay the foundation for the real deal. Yeah, hope we get the sequel soon, as like MH4U, we can get just the latest one. This direct might be too soon for announcement, but I hope within early next year. And we won't have to wait too long for Yo-kai Watch 3 after Japan release.

Re: Review: Yo-Kai Watch (3DS)

jeffri

Sounds good enough. I think Yo-kai Watch didn't really take off in Japan until the dual-release sequel hit, if my memories serve me right. So the sequel is the real deal perhaps.
