Using the words "mobile game" instead of just saying taking the game on the go makes me think that you will get to only play like a crappy mini game on the go, but the full game when connected to the dock at home, and that really doesn't interest me at all.
This idea isn't exactly new either as Dreamcast allowed you to do the same kind of thing worth the vmu, like playing Chao Adventure from Sonic Adventure.
I'm really hoping this isn't the case and he just worded things wrong, because I would rather take my full games on the go, not just play some stupid mini game of the main game.
They might be getting two controllers with the system, but I rather have what we are getting. Normal sized controllers that can also used in the wii remote to play NES virtual console games is appealing to me, and those famicom controllers would be way too small for western gamers to play with. Overall, I actually think we are getting the better deal for once
As a person who is a big Nintendo fan, and actually currently only owns Nintendo hardware, I went from really excited for this system to kinda bummed out and questioning why I support a game company that is barely releasing any games this year, and isn't giving it's fans a single peice of news about this new system we are suppose to be getting excited about.
After Xbox One S was revealed, I started getting more excited for those consoles. They are getting new features, they are getting the games, and the old systems even are priced almost the same as the Wii U!! Then Sony revealed the PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro, and now I'm really questioning, "Why am I still waiting for the NX when I know it's gonna be yet another underpowered system, struggle to get the AAA third party games, and will probably be too expensive for what they are offering compared to the competition"?.
Right now, I'm just buying older Wii U/ Wii/ GameCube gamesto keep me satisfied, holding out for hope that the NX is really worth my time and wait, but so far with the rumours I keep hearing, this system just doesn't seem like a big deal, and Nintendo keeping it such a secret is actually starting to hurt the system.
As sad as it is to say, the best way to kill the time for waiting for Nintendo to mention something about the NX is to tide yourself over with either classic games on older Nintendo consoles, play games you missed out on earlier on the Wii U/3DS, and just kind of ignore articles that even mention the word "NX" in them
there is a couple games, like River City Ransom, that I wish we got too, but otherwise I like the Classic NES games we are getting. Also, it looks like you can't detach the controllers (like the original famicom) and use the controller in your Wii Remote to play nes virtual console games. Not bad, but I actually like our offering more.
@SanderEvers ohh ya, I know that, I never said they would just die off or go third party or anything, but if you lack customer, retail, and developer good relations, how well do you think things will work out for them in the future? But I really doubt Nintendo is dumb enough to do repeat a terrible idea done by a rival company 21 years ago
@Lucina lol yup, if Nintendo wasn't the way they are, we wouldn't love/hate them like we do lol Personally, I like how stubburn they are with making video games the way they do, because their games are way more fun and better to play than Sony and Microsoft's offerings.
I'm sorry, but crap like this makes me hate Nintendo. You want people talking about the system to get hype going, but instead you start a interview by saying you'll cut the interview short if you ask about the NX, and just mentioning the system makes Nintendo make them censor that part is the interview?!? Not cool Nintendo, your stupid old ways definitely need to change...
@Yorumi got very good points there, but I would say that Nintendo first hurt there rep with the Wii, because they basically left there "hardcore" gamer fans that they made in the NES/SNES era in the dust in favour of getting non gamers and beginner gamers into video games with easy and fun motion controls, and very simple games. Yes the Wii sold well, but the Wii U is basically the aftermath damage of alienating your hardcore gaming fans, and the casuals didn't move onto the Wii U, the either keep using the Wii because it does what they like already, or they are now playing mobile games.
I do think Nintendo need to really have a much more aggressive marketing strategy for the NX if they are wanting to sell the system. They are in dire need to kiss up to third party and get them to come and support the NX. Also, it doesn't matter how much money Nintendo has in the bank, customer and retail will eventually not trust in Nintendo hardware, and people will stop supporting them, and retailers will stop carrying their products.
Of course, this is a lot of doom and gloom really I'm saying, and Nintendo is known to be that company to "never count them out", and with a huge diehard fanbase, me being one of them, they can easily come back even after a big failure like the Wii U and have success.
Personally, I will be buying a NX, because I love Nintendo and plan to support the company that gives me the games I love, because in the end no matter what silly gimmick they come up with for their systems, the games are what important and sell a system.
The wait at first was a great strategy, but now that we have seen what xbox and playstation will be offering, and all being released in time for Christmas this year, Nintendo is now shooting itself in the foot making people wait to get any kind of information about this system.
Nintendo is going to need to have a very, very strong launch lineup to make people care, and they need to reveal the NX at the beginning of October, or I bet a lot of people will choose a PS4 Pro or Xbox One S instead of Nintendo's next system.
Kind of sad to think that the Wii U is being replaced after only 4 years with another system, but the system will still have Zelda to look forward too in March for people not getting the NX right around launch.
Really, this doesn't surprised me with how bad the sales are with the Wii U, but for people wanting to get a Wii U, now is the time I guess, it does have a lot of excellent games! I will probably be buying another system before you can't see them on shelves anymore, and I also plan to buy NX at launch.
@shani NX is a Wii U replacement, no matter what crap they say. From the sounds of the rumours, the NX will be more powerful than the Wii U, but not as powerful as the Xbox One or PS4. These, of course, are just rumours though
So we at least know the console is actually a hybrid of home and portable gaming, nice to finally have someone close to Nintendo finally give us SOMETHING! Time for Nintendo to get off their a$§ and finally show us the system.
Nah, never phoned them once, I had the power, Nintendo Power! or I would get frustrated and give up, I was young, I just wanted something easy to play.
@Sanangelo89 I'm not into Playstation, at least not since the PSOne days
@JaxonH yea I've had tons of time with both systems and see absolutely no difference other than preferences. Sony does get some games, mainly japanese games that xbox don't see, but xbox gets a lot of the games I actually prefer.
So far, I am just waiting till the NX reveal to decide if I will get it or the Xbox One S, because I won't be getting more than one console this generation, unlike past generations.
Absolutely love Shovel Knight, it's one of my favourite games to come out in the last couple of years. Already beat the main game and Plague of Shadows, so I'll be waiting for this in Spring!
Yacht Club games is great to do such fan service to their game, and the expansions being free is absolutely great! They are one of the only companies to do Kickstarter campaign right.
I got the Hyrule Edition one, and I'm completely happy with it.
The design is really good though, and I could see this selling out quick like every other special design model released, but why doesn't Nintendo ever pack the actual game/s into the special edition of the systems?
The Pokemon Sun and Moon pack is tempting, but at this point I'm more worried about learning more about NX. Seriously, I'm on the fence about either sticking with Nintendo and getting the NX, or going and getting a Xbox One S, and I said I would wait to decide when the NX is revealed, but Nintendo is really making that harder with the long wait -_-
That's a really sad story, but Nintendo sending him that Zelda merchandise with the card is a really amazing gesture on their part. Nintendo is obviously a company that cares about it's fans
So obviously the Wii U version is dead, cause by 2018, the NX will be the main system and Wii U will easily be long gone. Hopefully they decide to release the game on NX, and make a physical release for it.
Looks pretty good for a runner game on mobile, I like how smoothly Mario moves in the game and how he still uses his moves. Personally, I hate mobile games, but I can see this being very popular.
Hmm, seems to be the only thing keeping the Vita alive is Japan lol
The ps4 sales could be down in anticipation for ps4 slim, which I don't know why cause if you've seen the system, it's a very ugly update and isn't really that much smaller than the ps4 already out. The sales will jump when Persona 5 is released.
Shattered Crystal wasn't a too bad of a game, but the one thing that annoyed me was the need to do a level over and over again in different paths just to find everything in the level, I would much prefer just a more traditional 2D Sonic style level design that is focused more on speed.
I'm interested in the game, but I will be waiting for the reviews to see if I pick this game up, or just wait till next year and play Sonic on the NX.
@Pink_Floyd that's probably the best thing to do, especially if Sticker Star wasn't a game you cared too much for. I like all the Paper Mario's, so I would have no problem getting Color Splash day one. For people that want a more straight up RPG though, they should probably start looking at the Mario & Luigi series.
I loved all the paper mario games so far, and this looks great to me, so I will be definitely buying the game. Kinda sad the game will be overlooked by ppl that just want a straight up RPG, but it's their loss
A full direct dedicated to revealing it, and do it soon because people are getting frustrated and impatient as of late.
Some of my friends where waiting for the systems reveal before deciding whether they should go back to Nintendo or buy a xbox one or ps4, and since xbox one s was revealed the original xbox one is now cheaper than the Wii U, so a lot of them bought a xbox one, and they don't ever but more than one console a generation. Nintendo needs to show it off immediately.
@NintendoHistory yup, and it's really sad. The 3DS is a great system with tons of excellent games, Wii U is the system that needs the sales and if you keep taking games off that system and giving 3DS ports, people will see no reason into buying a Wii U for those once great exclusives. Hyrule Warriors, Smash Bros, and now Yoshi Woolly World and Super Mario Maker are games you can get for the 3DS, and with the 3DS's excellent library of games, and ones to come, why would these people that might have once considered buying a Wii U get one now? There is only a handful of games I can think of worth getting just for the Wii U, and to lots of ppl, that isn't enough for the price of the Wii U
@TheWPCTraveler lol yea, I stopped watching the Japanese ones because a lot of the great games they get just don't come over to North America for some reason, or if they do, it takes forever for them to get here.
@joey302 yea actually I have, I just don't like Atari past the 2600 years, and I started gaming because of the arcade classics by Sega, Nintendo, and Namco etc., so I don't really have any nostalgia feelings about Atari, probably why I have the opinion I have towards Atari
I know I'm in the minority, but I wasn't very impressed with what was shown, other than the Zelda amiibo. Basically all I seen was a boring Mario sports game that features two sports that already have there own games on 3DS (Mario Golf and Mario Tennis) Than I seen a 2d Pikmin game that looked like what Nintendo did to Chibi Robo, make it a Mario styled game. And to top it all off, 2 of the great games for Wii U worth getting the system for coming to the 3DS, basically saying they have given up on the Wii U.
This direct was great if you play Nintendo's portable, but for someone like me that prefers his consoles, this direct basically said the Wii U is dead and we don't really have anything good to offer till March 2017
This was a great presentation for ppl that love portable gaming, because the 3DS is getting really good stuff, but for ppl like me that like gaming on a tv, Nintendo is really disappointing me, and had obviously pulled the plug on the Wii U. Honestly, I don't even think a great launch from the NX will get me to buy another Nintendo home console at this point
I'm not expecting really anything other than what we already know is coming out to be shown off. It's kind of sad, but Nintendo is determined to be underwhelming this year till they FINALLY unveil the NX.
so basically the rumours are that the NX will be a mix of what made the Wii and Wii U unique, with the screen on the gamepad being upped from 480p to 720p and will be a portable, instead of just streamed to the pad Somehow, these rumours really don't feel right at all, let's just wait for Nintendo to say something at this point, cause I feel what the rumours are saying are way off from what Nintendo will reveal.
@JaxonH actually, you putting it that way does make sense, and Nintendo usually does have great innovations that help make some of their greatest games! Hopefully the NX will be great worth this then.

@MoonKnight7 kind of why I've been leaning towards getting a Xbox One S, so I can play the third party games Nintendo just doesn't get anymore.

Re: Poll: What Are Your Most Anticipated Wii U and 3DS Games For the Rest of 2016?
Paper Mario, Severed, Shantae Half Genie Hero, and Pokemon Sun and Moon, and my 5th would be Darksiders if you had bothered to put it there.
That was really hard to pick 4 to be honest, because there isn't much there to care about
Re: Random: Mario Is Younger Than His Mighty Moustache Suggests
@BionicDodo yea, when you get rid of the moustache, he does look very young! So Miyamoto saying 24-25 is a pretty good age for Mario.

Re: UK Retailer Tesco Adds Nintendo NX Order Page With £349.99 Price
Yea, I think people can calm down, this doesn't mean anything, just looks like a normal place holder for an upcoming item.
I really think that price is way too high, I'm guessing the console at $400 CAD (£234) anymore and the NX definitely won't sell in my opinion

Re: Feature: Five Franchises That Deserve A Fresh Chance on the Nintendo NX
I picked Metroid, but all those sounds equally great!
Games I suggest are (sorry for the long list):
Metroid 3D: Just like Metroid Prime, but a new series.
Metroid 2D: love both 2D and 3D Metroid games
F-Zero: last game was on GCN by Sega, if Nintendo doesn't know what to do with the series, get Sega to do another one.
Wave Race: GCN game wasn't great, but I think this series deserves a revival.
1080 Snowboarding: Use to love the N64 and GCN games, then it just disappeared
Kid Icarus: the 3DS game was great, time for a console sequel!
Star Fox: I liked Zero, but for the sequel don't shove motion controls down our throats, and stop remaking the original Star Fox!!! ><
Pilotwings: 3DS game was ok, but otherwise this is another great series Nintendo has forgotten.
Startropics: two games on the NES, than that was it. A great series that Nintendo just pushed aside that definitely needs a reboot.

Super Mario bros 3, double dragon 2, and startropics. Startropics has to be the best nes game ever that is also the most underrated.

so basically the rumours are that the NX will be a mix of what made the Wii and Wii U unique, with the screen on the gamepad being upped from 480p to 720p and will be a portable, instead of just streamed to the pad Somehow, these rumours really don't feel right at all, let's just wait for Nintendo to say something at this point, cause I feel what the rumours are saying are way off from what Nintendo will reveal.
Re: Rumour: Detachable NX Controllers Will Offer Wii-Like Motion Control And Advanced Force Feedback
@JaxonH actually, you putting it that way does make sense, and Nintendo usually does have great innovations that help make some of their greatest games! Hopefully the NX will be great worth this then.
Re: We Have To Do A Better Job Of Explaining The Uniqueness Of NX, Admits Reggie
@Wexter been trying to, but other then the rumours, there isn't any news from Nintendo.
Re: Rumour: Detachable NX Controllers Will Offer Wii-Like Motion Control And Advanced Force Feedback
Meh, another Nintendo console with a gimmick. Going this is wrong cause it doesn't sound good to me at all.
Re: We Have To Do A Better Job Of Explaining The Uniqueness Of NX, Admits Reggie
Just show the system already, starting to loose my interest in the system with every rumour I hear about it
Re: Here's The Machine Sega's Artists Used To Bring Some Of Its Best Games To Life
It's cool to see how they did it back then with the games I love and grew up with. Absolutely miss Sega in the hardware business
