It's that time, once again, for our quarterly 'Biggest Games' list for Wii U and 3DS. As some of you may recall we ditched the idea of having separate Wii U and 3DS lists for our Summer Edition, mainly because the Wii U didn't have enough high profile games. It was a pragmatic decision, yes, but we did have a little cry about it nevertheless.
Well, it's almost time for the Q4 Edition, and on this occasion we thought we'd use the convenient timing - this being a Friday and therefore Poll Day - to let you have your say on the top 10. Normally our Biggest Games list has 10 main titles and then some 'Honourable Mentions', so this is your chance to influence the order in which these titles appear. Which will have the honour of a banner and brief description, and which will get little more than a bullet point? You can help decide.
Naturally the lists are combined again, as we're dealing with very limited numbers of retail games but plenty of eShop titles. Those included below either have release dates for this year or are expected before 2017 rolls around (that means Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King is out of the running). We've made a clear note in cases where an upcoming release is only for one region. All of these games also have game pages, so type their names in the search bar at the top of the page if you need a lowdown or some background information.
So, vote for your five most anticipated games out of 30 listed in the poll (which is in alphabetical order), and we'll take the results and use them to inform the weekend's list. [Update: Corpse Party and Darksiders: Warmastered Edition should have been in the poll, but we missed them. They're in the running for the final list, though.]
Our apologies if we've missed any games; if any are absent let us know in the comments and we'll also bear them in mind.
Anyway, it's not a bad list for the remaining three months of the year. Chat it over, as always, in the comments below.

That's a tough one
Would like to choose up to five, but Pokemon Sun and Moon is the only one listed I'm looking forward to
Mario Maker on 3DS should be really fun to play on the go. Pokemon Moon has to be my most anticipated Pokemon game ever!
Played Mekazoo at EGX and spoke to the folks making it. Really lovely people, and game looks super shiny, plenty of people having fun with it on the show floor.
FYI all, don't worry about close or even percentages, I can see specific numbers and pick out the 'winners' from those figures.
EarthLock for Wii U would be on my list but there isn't much else coming in general. Hoping Nintendo sees fit to start making some announcements cause even I am starting to wondering
Gee, there's just... so much to choose from... (-_-')
Only looking forward to Sun&Moon and Picross 3D Round 2. The rest doesn't interest me one bit, actually. The pool of indie games is getting so big it's getting hard wrapping my head around it. Besides that, I have a huge backlog and Dragon Quest VII will do until Pokémon, and after that Dragon Quest VIII (and hopefully NX!) comes around
Where do I even begin with the Wii U? There's some alright games coming but nothing mind blowing. Take away the indies and Nintendo have nothing besides Paper Mario: ColoUr Splash.
Edit: Darksiders should be good but that's a remaster of an old game.
Dang, I forgot about Kerbal Space Program. I marked that one, as well as Sun/Moon and Color Splash.
Wait I thought the Wii U is dead how the system have games?
Wow. There's actually a lot of things I want. 1/2 Genie Hero, Color Splash, Star Rush, Stardew Valley, Super Mario Maker 3DS, and of course Pokémon Sun.
Plus, I still have a number of games I still need to grab. Luigi's Mansion 2, LEGO(TM) City Undercover, Star Fox 0, and maybe Terraria.
That's depressing. The only game I'm really looking forward to is Darksiders.
Super Mario Maker for 3DS.
I'm so content with DQ VII that frankly i am not expecting anything more for the rest of 2016.
I'm excited about a couple of these.
On the 3DS front, Chase: Cold Case Investigations intrigues me. I enjoyed the Hotel Dusk games, so I see no reason why this would be any different. Still, the price point hints at the smaller scope of the game, so I'll wait for the reviews. Will probably end up buying it anyway to support the devs. Not exactly excited about Rhythm Paradise Megamix due to the "compilation" aspect, but the games are always worth the price of admission. And speaking of eShop games, I still have to pick up Ninja Smasher sooner than later. Better do that before Sun and Moon come out, because they're going to eat up all of my time.
The Wii U side of things is better than expected, to be honest. Previews of Paper Mario: Color Splash are very positive, so I'm optimistic about the quality of the game. I plan to pick the physical versions of Shantae: Half-Genie Hero and SteamWorld Collection, alongside Fast Racing Neo. That's hours and hours of game time for a console on its way out.
The title I'm most excited about, however, is Hollow Knight. I'm really hoping Team Cherry delivers with the final product, it's shaping up to be an amazing metroidvania. The most beautiful one I've seen since Ori, at least.
Darksiders.
The one I'm looking modte forward to is Corpse party.
Put from the list, Pokémon moon. I also intend to pick up Picross 3D round 2, Rythm heaven megamix, Super Mario Maker for 3DS, Mario party star rush and Disney magical world. Also not on the list; Megami Meguri.
And a few allready released titles I have yet to buy.
I would have said Paper Mario: Color Splash . . . but the more I see of that game (and the complete lack of new characters and overuse of Toads), the less I want it.
What I would choose is Gunscape. WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT GAME?
I must say that after the utterly disaster that XY and ORAS were from the point of view of a longtime pokémon fan (for different reasons, though) I wasn't hyping Sun and Moon, but this summer Game Freak showed so many good ideas that it is really difficult not to hype the game right now. But there are also Rhythm Heaven (can't wait for this one), Shantae and Stardew Valley, so these are my votes.
Still hyping Yokai Watch 2 more though (if only we had a EU release date..)
This honestly looks sad
Paper Mario, Severed, Shantae Half Genie Hero, and Pokemon Sun and Moon, and my 5th would be Darksiders if you had bothered to put it there.
That was really hard to pick 4 to be honest, because there isn't much there to care about
@LexKitteh I can't choose 5 either.
This was a tough one. In all honesty, I'm only getting Pokemon and Shantae. It looks so bad. This is it.
Super Mario Maker,
Shantae,
Pokemon Sun And Moon,
Severed,
And perhaps Disney Magical World 2 on the list. Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse could have outranked it, but it's not there.
Yikes...NX can't come soon enough! There are some decent games here though, with pokemon sun and moon and paper Mario colour splash being the main games I'm excited for. However, picross 3D, rhythm paradise megamix, and stardrew valley all look very interesting as well, so I'll probably pick up them. But apart from that...it's a rather dry list. I would pick Mario maker 3d if it had any worthwhile features, but the lack of 3D, online sharing, and course ID just completely ruins any chance of me getting it
Only voted for Shantae, and I'm not sure whether I'll get that on Wii U or PS4.
Honestly, the only games I'm looking forward to is Pokemon Sun and Super Mario Maker.
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy same here - there's a big wishlist of past releases I have for 3DS, and it will take a while even to buy, let alone play them all. Ditto for Wii U which I've yet to get. NX may be not far away, but there's plenty this generation has to offer me.
Only 3 on the list I'm interested in, but the only one I'm getting for sure is Shantae.
Wake me up when they introduce the NX
To the negative Nancies:
Like what you like and all that, but if you're having trouble picking 5 games out of 30 (plus non-listed games), you might want to do some research and get out of your comfort zone.
Wow only two games from now on (color splash and Pokemon)...and a strange thought pass by my mind. Pokemon Sun and Moon will be the last game that I'll buy for 3ds...my oh my, 3ds is dying...but what a run, what a handheld, what a great console!
3DS right now is in my top 3 consoles/handhelds all time along with Snes and PS2.
Picross 3D Round 2
Paper Mario: Color Splash
forma.8
Mario Party: Star Rush
Rhythm Paradise Megamix
Darksiders. Still contemplating whether to get Color Splash.
Sun, Moon and Skylanders for my son.
And that's it... quite sad really. Would have got Mario Maker if there was 3DS <-> U level sharing so my son and I could play each other's creations.
Pokemon Sun & Moon
Color Splash
Disney Magical World 2
Star Rush
Mario Maker 3D
Those are the games I'm excited for. Pokemon Sun and Moon are at the top though.
Wii U: Paper Mario: Color Splash and Twisted Fusion
3DS: Mario Party: Star Rush, Gurumin 3D: A Monstrous Adventure, and Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS
The 3DS, in my opinion, seems to making a massive comeback after a rather lackluster year it had last year (The Legend of Dark Witch 2 is pretty much the only game that saved the 3DS in 2015 for me while everything else was forgettable at best). Although I would say the Wii U is pretty much out the door, I'm still getting a few more games for it that are not the ones that are heading in from the horizon.
I want to be excited for Pokemon Sun, but I want to hear more info and additions to the game before I make my decision and the new Z-Moves, Time Differences, and Pokemon Snap modes aren't enough to influence me and I really only care about seeing new features than new Pokemon, to be honest.
Seeing as I got a PS4 just recently, I don't know if I really want to get Shantae: Half-Genie Hero on my Wii U. Unless if the Wii U version does plenty of interesting mechanics with its GamePad, I'm most likely going to get it on my PS4 instead.
As much as I love Runbow, I want to play the game that allows me to get a grasp of the most optimal controller in feel, and that's what the Wii U is there for, for me. I love my (New) 3DS, but its controls don't feel quite fit for the type of gameplay like Runbow has in my book.
Paper Mario and Kerbal Space Program are pretty much all that is interesting there.
That's a really poor list. :/
@MrGawain And that wasn't listed. I've both it and Paper Mario: ColoUr Splash preordered.
I thought I was going to be the only one with only 2 answers... but it looks like that's not the case. Kinda sad, actually...
Just MP: Star Rush and Shantae for me. At least I'm enjoying Sonic, and still have Gunvolt 2 to play while I wait for those two games to release.
Sees title, scrolls down and see the list to see wiiu games.
Me: Oh...
Shantae, absolutely
No Corpse Party?
I'll definitely be picking up Pokemon Sun and Mario Maker day one, and Gurumin maybe as well. Color Splash, Mario Party, and Shantae will come later on, I'm sure. One thing not listed that I've got on preorder (like Sun and Maker) is Corpse Party. Hoping to have a lot of fun with that.
Color Splash and Pokemon I guess.
Only paper Mario for me. Even then I'm not sold until I've read reviews!
Wii U:
All of them.
3DS:
A couple.
Btw, where the hell is Darksiders?
I loved the sequel on Wii U, I have a 360 and could get the prequel on that but I choose to support devs on Wii U.
Did the same with NFS, Deus Ex, Sniper Elite, Walking Dead (which i enjoyed), Tekken, Assasins Creed, Splinter Cell, Batman, Watch Dogs and Mass Effect.
Paper Mario: Color Splash is really the only Wii U game I'm looking forward to. There aren't very many more games coming, but I have really enjoyed some of them like Super Mario Maker, Yoshi's Woolly World, and others.
The only one I'm interested in isn't listed on here. No worries.
-Dragon Ball: Fusions
(3DS/Dec 13).
Other than that, Monster Hunter: Stories. Those are the only 2 that have my interest. I've already pre ordered DBF ($23 through Best Buy GCU).
@MarcelRguez "you might want to do some research and get out of your comfort zone."
But the title of the article is "most anticipated... games", it's not "Games you might be willing to try if you spent time researching them". That probably should actually be the article - "Don't give up hope, games are still coming, you just don't know what they are yet", but it wasn't, it was "most anticipated".
And for somebody who only games on a Wii U, not a 3DS, that is not a very good list to anticipate. I picked PM:CS and Kerbal. And I doubt Kerbal in 2016, but I would like it on Wii U so I picked it. We'll probably get Skylanders at some point, but I'm not really anticipating it, more like, I'll get it when it's half price next August. I'd probably play Half Genie Hero for $1.99. If it was on the list I would have picked Lego Dimensions Story pack for "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" coming out Nov 11, but it wasn't on the list. Sonic level set as well.
So yeah, easy for me to understand how people wouldn't be "anticipating" 5 Wii U games on that list. Even 3DS outside of Pokemon if they already have SMM on Wii U.
Gurumin, Hive Jump, Kerbal, Sun/Moon and Stardew. Hollow Knight looks great, but I need to see more. Same deal with Punch Club.
Darksiders?
My shopping lists :
October = Paper Mario Color Splash Wii U + Disney Magical World 2, 3DS
November = Mario Party Star Rush 3DS + Eshop $50 prepaid card
December = (probably) Story of Seasons Trio of Towns 3DS
Well...maybe some new game list will be added if I found something interest.
Has there been any confirmation that Kerbal is still coming?
I with @rjejr, I'm looking forward to the Sonic and Harry Potter Lego packs as well.
Paper Mario and Stardew Valley boi!! Though I'm gonna try to not buy anymore games this year, gotta save for my holiday!
That list is not pretty. Pretty much only Paper Mario and Pokemon for me.
@Jayvir Same here, is the end for 3ds and Wii U. Both will die close but the live were very different.
Picross 3D round 2, Hollow Knight, Gurumin 3D, Rhythm Heaven Megamix and, of course, Pokémon Moon.
I wish I could be excited for Paper Mario. I would love to be proved wrong on it but everything I've seen so far doesn't.
I'll give Severed and Shantae a go too probably.
Man...there's really nothing left, is there?
Thanks so much for including Chase, although where's Darksiders: Warmastered, Animal Crossing: New Leaf Welcome Amiibo, Sega 3D Classics Collection (EU), Corpse Party, Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse (EU) and 7th Dragon II Code: VFD (EU)?
Pokémon and Color Splash (the latter of which I may or may not get). Skipping the lazy Mario Maker cash grab.
Assuming the Gunvolt Striker Pack doesn't count (so close I can taste it), gotta go with Gurumin (updated rerelease), Super Mario Maker (port) and Runbow Pocket (updated rerelease), shame that DQ8 (updated rerelease) got pushed back to 2017.
Dragonball Fusions though, is that still on for 2016? Get me some of that definitely.
Apparently my top 3 choices are all things I Kickstarted, so I guess I'm glad that worked to get games onto a system I really do enjoy still...
Around none, but I will buy Sun & Moon some time in the far future.
@doctorzzim It actually looks pretty fun to me despite it not being a real Paper Mario game. It's just that I have so much other stuff to play that Color Splash isn't a big item on my radar (for now).
Well this is depressing...
I suppose Pokemon but I likely won't be getting that until 2017 at the earliest as FF15 shall be taking over most of my gaming time.
I'm actually looking forward to Tumblestone on Wii U quite a bit. It's not a big release, and wasn't in the list... but is supposed to be a pretty awesome game.
@rjejr The article also mentions you can name your own entries. Even if you don't know or care for the games in the poll, it shouldn't be hard at all to come up with your own list of most anticipated games, if you've done your research. It's just five titles across two platforms, and I doubt many of those complaining are in your same situation. If people can't fill that short of a list, then I'd say that they need to broaden their horizons or pick up another platform. Maybe both.
I think Nintendo life is mocking us
What a sad list. Still, gives me time to clear some of the backlog.
Paper Mario Color Splash
Darksiders
Shantae Half Genie Hero
Stardew Valley
Severed
Hollow Knight
Mekazoo
Gurumin Monstrous Adventure
Mario Maker
Steamworld Collection
And anyone in EU, you should definitely grab these two
Rhythm Heaven MegaMix
Picross 3D 2
I'm most hyped for Gurumin because I know virtually nothing about it. Pokémon and Disney Magical World 2 are both on my list, but I'm not as excited because, eh, they're both sequels and Pokémon has been spoiling itself for months.
I only picked Pokemon Moon and Shantae, but it feels like I'm forgetting or overlooked some games.
I am really hoping Nintendo surprises us and releases BREATH OF THE WILD for WiiU over Thanksgiving weekend.
@crimsontadpoles
Of course you are!
Darksiders for one, cause, well, Darksiders is just amazing.
Rhythm Heaven Megamix as @Sinalefa will attest is amazing.
Picross 3D 2, unless you detest Picross then you'll probably hate it.
Paper Mario Color Splash deserves, at the very least, a fair shake come review time. And maybe base decision on well-gathered information after release. I think it'll be great though.
Severed is amazing, and it's out now so go go go!
Stardew Valley, Hollow Knight, Mekazoo and Gurumin. All seem to be worthy digital releases. I backed Hollow Knight and have great expectations. Stardew Valley is like every Zelda/Harvest Moon fan's dream indie. Mekazoo looks very DKC inspired. And Gurumin, well, it was never rated a superb game, but it just looks like a great fit for the 3DS.
I can understand not being hyped for Mario Maker though. No online kills it. What were they thinking.
Well my vote is obvious... Hollow Knight all the way!
Dragon Ball Fusions, hands down.
Sun and Moon is the only current gen game I'm remotely interested, the rest is garbage and I'm waiting to see NX games.
What this list tells me is the NX can't come soon enough.
@JaxonH @crimsontadpoles
I recommend both RH and Picross 3D 2.
Besides those I am very hyped for Hive Jump. I am a backer and I love couch co op.
Beyond that I would say Severed and Antipole. Not much else. Miku and my PS4 are keeping me busy.
Pokémon Sun
Shantae: Half-Genie Hero
Hollow Knight
Ninja Pizza Girl
Rhythm Paradise Megamix
That last one was a placeholder. I could pick out 4 games. Shantae looks amazing, Pokémon looks strange, Ninja Pizza Girl is a funny title, and Hollow Knight gave me good screenshots in a Google image search just now.
Everyone else sees very few games, but this list gave me two games, Hollow Knight and Ninja Pizza Girl, that I hadn't heard of. It's an addition for me!
Ninja Pizza Girl??? Hmmm weird.
I'm excited for Pokémon Sun/Moon and the new Shantae. It's going to be quality over quantity for me with Nintendo games this holiday season.
@bherdm Last I saw about Kerbal it was coming to Wii U "this winter", and where I live winter is Jan, Feb, March - December is holiday - which is why I said I didn't expect it in 2016. I do expect it though, they said it was the definitive edition, and b/c of the Game pad I believe them. And usually I'm the first person to say "canceled", so for me to think it's still coming is saying something. Just not in 2016. In 2017 with Yooka-Laylee.
@MarcelRguez Well, it's not our fault Nintendo has moved all of the best Wii U games to NX, and Zelda and Yooka-Laylee have been delayed into 2017. It's just not a very good list.
@BRAINFOX "No Corpse Party?"
It's there, it's called the Wii U though.
I didn't know Ninja Pizza Girl was coming to Wii U. As for the other games, I went with Pokemon Sun&Moon and Shantae. And I'm thinking about getting Shantae on PS4. Not much that I'm looking forward to for Nintendo systems, although I still need to get the new Ace Attorney that recently came out.
Paper Mario, Pokemon Sun, and Darksiders. I still need to pick up Dragon Quest 7 and SMT IV: A.
Easily Pokémon Moon. I will get Disney Magical World 2 as well. I'm on the fence about Mario Maker for 3DS, I don't get a lot of streetpasses so it would an even more limiting experience than it already will be.
>Select Up to 5
>There were only 5 that I was still looking forward to
...huh. Well, may as well list those 5:
Pokemon Sun & Moon (as in the 'dual pack')
Shantae: Half-Genie Hero
Hollow Knight
Antipole DX
forma.8
In order of anticipation. Shantae I know I'll enjoy (I've yet to be able to put down a Shantae game before I've finished it), same with Pokemon (because it's Pokemon. C'mon). Hollow Knight looks spooky, but otherwise grand. They were clearly inspired by Shovel Knight in all the right ways, while working in more complex battle mechanics and a slightly macabre theme (and I think a Metroidvania-esque connected environment, I have to double-check) to ensure it stays its own thing.
Antipole DX looks like classic fun, I should mention. Really, forma.8 I'm really gonna need to research before I get, the aesthetics and the way the ship moves looks weird from the trailers, but I couldn't find any good footage when I briefly searched on Youtube earlier, and the trailers I could find are all old. I'm leaving it on the list, at least.
Hollow Knight.
I did struggle a bit for a 5th, but I'm not big on 3DS so even Sun and Moon isn't in my list. Also, mini NES and Pokemon GO Plus. Depending which way the NX reveal goes, maybe a 2DS/3DS will end up coming along with some other games and then Sun and Moon become more tempting.
@CanisWolfred
Hollow Knight has more in common with Metroid and Castlevania than Shovel Knight I think. Looking forward to it (and love Shovel Knight) but besides the fact that they are 2D platformers, both Kickstarter projects and have "Knight" in the title they aren't very closely related.
Darksiders is definitely my most anticipated. After that, Earthlock: Festival of Magic looks intriguing, and Exile's End could be good if it's even still coming (last I read was "end of summer").
But, since none of these are new games (just new to Wii U), and Earthlock and Exile's End may not even come out in 2016, I understand their exclusion from this poll. Regardless, those would be my votes*.
(* - not a 3DS owner)
As I look at that list, it just makes me realize I have anger months to get caught up on games. I'm sure I'll pick up 2 or 3 of those, but I'm only looking forward to nx.
Only thing I'm grabbing on 3ds for the rest of the year is corpse party.
@MarcelRguez Very good, I have almost exactly the same thoughts, other than I'll be skipping Paper Mario.
@aaronsullivan Oh, I don't mean gameplay-wise. If they were just copying the mechanics, they'd have missed the point. I'm comparing them more due to the attention to detail in every possible facet, until the entire thing feels like its own world. I'll admit, I might've been misleading, but I can't think of a better way to put it right now.
Pokemon Sun and Moon, Super Mario Maker and Rhythm Paradise Megamix for me. Need a bigger wallet though...
@MarcelRguez Or the industry should just make better games.
@sonicmeerkat Wait, so Corpse Party isn't what we're calling Nintendo's pre-NX lineup? Because it sure is dead.
Now with SMT4:A and DQ7 out of the way, there is only Pokemon left, rest of the year is looking rather pathetic for both systems.
@Bolt_Strike Hey find another game to make a lame joke about people gotta know about the 3DS corpse party release on OCT.25 in North America, the launch edition is awesome.
Hate to say it but I couldn't pick 5 that I am even remotely interested in. Pokemon and Shantae were all that I picked.
Edit: Ok, scratch that, I wasn't fully paying attention — I would also include Chase: Cold Case Investigations and Severed.
Skipping Paper Mario. I'm sure I'll get the new Pokemon eventually, but it's not a priority. At this point, all I care about are Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, Corpse Party and Disney Magical World 2, and I have a Kickstarter code coming for the first of those.
Pokémon Sun and Moon. I'm just not sure which one to get.
Pokémon and Super Mario Maker, all the way!
The NX better be worth having to endure release schedules like this. I am really, really hyped for Pokemon though. I can't wait!
Why isn't Dragon Ball Fusions on the list? I only listed 4 because that would be a part of my 5 if it was. The rest would be Pokemon Sun/Moon (of course), Stardew Valley, Mario Maker 3D, and Runbow Pocket.
I think 2017 will be a better year for Wii U
I'll leave my fifth pick off for Ever Oasis.
Can't you put an "Other" option on the end if you're gonna miss titles NL?
Seriously, what the hell happened to Gunscape?
Rhythm Paradise Megamix and Picross 3D Round 2 are the main games of the rest of the year.
Also Stardew Valley will be huge.
There isnt really much to choose from on wii u.
Meh...Color Splash and maybe Mario Maker on 3DS. Really not much I'm interested in the rest of this year. Fortunately for me, I just picked up Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection, Ground Zeroes, and Phantom Pain for my PS3, and I'm playing through the series for the first time and in chronological order. I'm on Peace Walker right now!
Paper Mario, what else? For Wii U, its the only thing coming this holiday season.
All i can think right now is: WHENNNNNNNN??????
i really, REALLY want to play SteamWorld Heist in HD, but since i live in NoA...
Other than that, shantae, forma8 and antipole are the games i'm waiting for the most, but hollow knight, stardew valley and super destronaut 2 are close 2nd...
oh and i already own severed so there that for my 3ds...
Pokémon Sun and Moon
Rhythm Paradise Megamix
Stardew Valley
☺☺
Most looking forward to Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse! Hopefully Deep silver will release it in Europe this year like they said before. The wait for SMT IV was way too long...
@rjejr Best? This is not about quality, is about what you find interesting. The list is varied enough to anticipate a couple of titles there if you're into their genres or co-op.
@Bolt_Strike Saying "I don't like it" before you try it has little to do with quality and a lot more with you being close-minded. Especially if it happens more than 25/30 times.
Basically Pokemon Sun and that's it. I might give Paper Mario a chance if people who were fans of TTYD play it and find it's not another Sticker Star.
If i had an 3ds i would buy dragon quest 7 but now i wait to see if you can play 3ds games on Nx so i can only buy the game. When they said Nx wont take over 3ds or wiiu, maybe they meant you can play those games on Nx
I voted for:
Chase: Cold Case Investigations - Distant Memories
Paper Mario: Color Splash
Rhythm Paradise Megamix
Severed
SteamWorld Heist (via Steamworld Collection)
I'm also interested in Darksiders, altough that one wasn't listed here.
I voted for Sun & Moon, Color Splash and Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. Why would anyone vote for "Super Destronaut 2: Go Duck Yourself"?
7th dragon III Code VFD, Pokemon Moon and Just Dance 2017
What wiiu games?
I wonder how soon Nintendo will shut down MK8 and SMM online servers. Seriously, I expect it to happen it late 2017, or mid 2018. It's going to be a last spit in Wii U owner's faces.
Pokemon Sun and Moon and... something. I'll probably play new Shantae (but maybe on Vita), Stardew Valley and Color Splash, maybe Rhythm Paradise Megamix, but I'm waiting for these RPGs from Atlus, which have not appeared in Europe yet: 7th Dragon III Code: VFD and SMT IV: Apocalypse. However, we don't know if they are scheduled for this year or next. Atlus, announce release dates, please.
For me it was Pokemon Sun and Moon & Chase: Cold Case Investigations.
There are some other cool ones like Shantae, Hollow Knight and Gurumin but they'll be available on other digital platforms that aren't tied to hardware. A lot of the others seem like pointless ports or total crud.
Um.... None of the Above... and I spend stupid money on games I barely like.
What a depressing list
Mekazoo,Rhythm Paradise and Shantae.
Afraid there is not much on the list that gets me as a Wii U owner excited. At least I have started to rekindle my interest in Pikmin 3 lately.
Definitely Sun & Moon. Other than that, I am really looking forward to PSVR, Final Fantasy XV and Last Guardian. Gonna buy other games this year, too, obviously but I am not THAT hyped about those.
Pokemon. That is all.
Though must admit I know very little about some of those games listed, hoping for some pleasant surprises.
Just 2 here. Color Splash and Sun/Moon of which I'm still not sure if I'll get the latter at launch or not because of the final Hyrule Warriors Legends DLC being so close to it..
NONE.
Pokemon sun is a day one for me. Stardew Valley and Shantae are also must haves for me but if either come to ps4/vita ill be getting that version instead. Finally Color Splash looks fantastic and i wish people would stop whining about it. Probably won't get it until christmas. Poor 1st party output again this year (volume wise) so i guess i will be sticking with my ps4 for the most part. Next year looks much brighter with the NX and LoZ Breath of the Wild so I'm quite excited for that.
Just Shantae for me, although I must admit I don't know a great deal about the others.
Pokemon moon day 1
paper mario christmas
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Gah! Forgot about Darksiders for the poll, my bad.
@ejamer Tumblestone has been out since the Summer, we gave it 9/10 - https://www.nintendolife.com/reviews/wiiu-eshop/tumblestone
That's why it's not on the list
Corpse Party should have been in there too, my bad. That'll be in the running for the top 10 actually, I'll look at the vote numbers and if they're low beyond the top 5 or so I may make an executive call.
Sure there aren't a lot of heavy hitters for Wii U, but we already knew this was it. It's sad that people can't see any enjoyment out of these, feel free to play other games (on other consoles, or older games) to fill your time, but being irritating gets you nowhere.
We already know no one has THAT much time to play everything they want (everyone talking about how huge their backlog is), but we also know that so much goes under the radar, things that we missed when we were playing that 120hour RPG, so look back and enjoy past gems, or hibernate I guess.
I played so many hidden gems this summer, it's actually nice when there are quiet times to actually discover all those smaller or niche titles.
NEW is nice, but this is why backlogs exist, so spend some time in the past, it's quite rewarding.
@ThomasBW84
Tumblestone hasn't been out at retail in Canada yet. That's why it's on my list for most anticipated games.
Darksiders (Wii U) is also a big draw for me. Another game available via different platforms/delivery methods, but not in the way I'd be willing to buy/play it yet. SteamWorld Heist also.
Looking forward to playing Pokemon Moon, World of Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy 15, and Rise of the Tomb Raider in the remaining part of 2016. A slight shame only one of those is on Nintendo though.
Nothinng.
I was so happy to see PMCS in the Target ad this morning, until I realized you can barely see the game cover, you can't even read it's name. Who approves that stuff?
@Grumblevolcano It's October, what's your 2 cents on a reveal? I was so sure it would be this past week I'm not sure I can even guess anymore. PMCS next Friday, PSVR the following Thursday - might be good. They have a big financial meeting the 27th, stockholders will probably revolt if they don't start marketing before then, so that puts some real pressure on them to get'er done at least.
I'm glad to see Color Splash is taking up a higher percentage here, it looks like a really cool game to be honest. Nintendo is trying to try something new with the game and it isn't looking so bad (especially the classic funny dialog).
Even if it's not like exactly PM64 or TTYD it seems to have good potential.
I'm excited about a couple of these...but I'm more excited by the 3DS games coming up in 2017.
@LexKitteh ditto
@rjejr Well I'm thinking a few possibilities dependent on what kind of strategy Nintendo wants to take.
Aggressive (October 12th): The SMR reveal at the Apple Keynote made the Pro reveal later in the day seem really dull for most. Nintendo's plan in this case would be to kill PSVR hype if the NX is interesting enough.
Laid back (October 26th): Revealing at the last possible moment before the investors meeting so investors don't react negatively unless the console itself is negative of which whenever the console would be revealed the same reaction would happen.
We live in our own bubble and don't care about what anyone else thinks (2017): Nintendo delays NX news until next year, they throw Wii U owners a bone for the holidays (e.g. Project Giant Robot? Mother 3? Maybe an update to Hyrule Warriors to give the 3DS content?) while 3DS hype is kept at a maximum by Sun/Moon being considered one of the best games in the franchise (I'm just guessing here, at the least you can say Game Freak has put a gigantic amount of effort into those games).
@MarcelRguez Not really. Most of these games are just plain bad ideas. Either that or they're genres that I either don't like or have been done to death.
The Wii U has games after Color Splash?
Pokemon is literally the only one I plan to buy. Though I'd be interested in Paper Mario if I had a Wii U.
Looking forward to Sun & Moon the most. I'm also super hype for Mario Maker 3DS and Shantae.
Nothing exciting from that entire list. Just a lot of mediocre junk.
Only waiting for the Pokemon Sun/Moon, 7th Dragon III Code: VFD and Picross 3D Round 2. And Dragon Quest VIII, but that's a story for 2017.
Pokémon Sun and Corpse Party 3DS are the only games I'm getting fir this year. If DQ 8 comes out, I will be getting that. I am good with that, I have games I still need to work on anyway.
Just a NX reveal. I have enough games to hold me over still lol.
A list of 30 games is just about right for me. I don't see how I can make time to play more than 2 games per month. So with Pokemon coming in november along with the NES Mini I will have plenty to do the last 2 month. I'll probably get Shantae on steam. Gurumin got my attention. Mario Marker is a must, since I don't have a wii U and that would have to do until the NX. I still have Gotta Protector, Luigi's Mansion 2 and A Link Between World on the wishlist in case I run out of games.
@ThomasBW84 Since you're talking about that, it would be nice if we had the option of sorting the poll results from high to low on our end. Would be very convenient for polls with many possible answers.
I don't know if there is a place for suggestion in the forum or something. Can this be considered for a future update? Thanks
Chase, Severed and maybe Super Mario Maker for the 3DS. I feel this year was pretty great for the 3DS. Planet Robobot, Zero Time Dilemma, AA: Spirit of Justice, Rhythm Heaven Megamix and FA: Fates.
@Waninoko since you are talking 2017, I am pretty excited for Ever Oasis. I hope that game turns out great.
Meh...Nothing. Nintendo won't be making any more money on me untill Zelda:BotW comes out.
Pokemon Sun/Moon, natch!
Paper Mario has crept on us really quickly cannot believe it is out this Friday, all the trailers have actually got me hyped despite it not being the RPG we all wish for.
Mario Maker looks perfect for short bursts so will pick that up and the Wii U version at some point.
Hollow Knight, Antipole DX, Chase: CCC and Shantae will all get picked up at some point.
Finally cannot wait for Rhythm Mega Mix, love them, hate them, but always give me a great feel of satisfaction when I complete them.
Wow. How dismal.
Pokémon sun/moon is the only major title on the horizon? NX really can't come soon enough.
@CanisWolfred As a successful small team creating a game with passion and attention to detail they seem pretty close so far. We won't know if they are exactly the same until the third year after release of Hollow Knight when they can't work on any other new games because they are fulfilling large chunks of unpaid DLC additions.
wait......STARDEW VALLEY?!?!?!?!?
Chase: Cold Case Investigations, Picross 3D Round 2 and Pokémon Sun/Moon. That's it.
