I like that Mario and Skyrim will be there at launch, but not happy Zelda won't be, and think that will hurt launch sales.
As for Splatoon being a pack in game at launch: no thanks. Splatoon is a good game, but having the Switch packed in with a updated Wii U game won't get ppl to buy the system. Should have the system packed in with the new Mario game instead.
So far, I'm losing interest in getting the Switch at launch, and I'm leaning towards getting it later in the year, if these rumours are true.
I would like to see NBA, NHL, and Mass Effect on the system, other than that, I could careless about EA, I've never cared for them, even in my Genesis days.
Can't you tell this is a European site, most people are wanting Fifa lol I don't think I will ever understand the love for soccer
I was going to get the Switch at launch if Zelda was there, but if it isn't, I will most likely wait on getting the Switch later. Even if the new 3D Mario is there at launch, it probably wouldn't be enough to really tie me over. I will have to wait till Nintendo says something, which seems to be January 12th
I think if this is true, a lot of people will do the same thing as me and not get the system at launch and just wait to get it, so I do think this will hurt the launch.
I do like the idea of the NES classic edition, and Nintendo doing retro consoles like this, but crap like this is why I'm not really bothering to get it.
I'm not going to wait in a line at launch to get this, I'm not going to spend more than the MSRP for it on sites like eBay. If Nintendo stops being stupid, and actually meets the demand for the system where I can get this no problem in a store, than I will gladly get it, but otherwise no thanks.
A novelty item with 30 year old games, a lot of them I still own, isn't worth the headache most ppl are willing to go through to get this.
I love my Wii U, and will easily say that it is one of my favourite Nintendo consoles that they have released, and I have a lot of great games for the system (I currently have 37 physical games, and plan to still get more) but I will say the system wasn't without its problems.
One huge problem was Nintendo's advertising. Only Nintendo commercial I remember for Wii U was Mario Maker, but most the time they focused on advertising 3ds games.
Another huge problem was the timing of the systems release. Basically releasing a slightly more powerful system than the 360 and PS3 when those two where going to be replaced in a years time, and get games that wouldn't be possible to port to Wii U.
The biggest problem is hands down the gamepad. Though I found it to be a neat thing when it was first shown, it quickly was a super expensive controller with a screen that was barely ever used for a good reason. Most games use the game as a map/inventory screen, or to play the game off tv, which the off tv thing would have been great if you could go anywhere with it, but it doesn't take much for the signal the go out.
I think Nintendo Switch is the right direction for Nintendo to go, and the system is actually what Wii U probably should have been in the first place. Though I am very hopeful for the system, after the Wii U's minimal third party support, I am very worried the same thing will happen to the Switch, and very worried what the systems price will be.
Tried to like Yo Kai Watch, but it's definitely not for me. The cartoon is stupid and pointless, and I don't like the battle system in the games, or care for the story.
Pokemon is definitely waaaay better than Yo Kai Watch.
I was just born when the NES was official released in all of North America, so I do have couple of great years remembering this amazing system! I mainly played cartoony type games back then, like Mario, TMNT, Ducktales, Felix the Cat etc. and never really got into Castlevania and Contra until the beginning of the SNES days.
@Thatguywhoeats only certain games that would sell very well, but "remastering" all of the games they released on Wii U will alienate the people who were committed to the Wii U and bought the games. I think it would be safe for Nintendo to bring Smash Bros, Mario Kart, and Splatoon to the Switch with all the dlc on the gamecard, plus add some extras to entice people to want it. Other games I could see them bringing over is Super Mario Maker and Xenoblade Chronicles X.
@Al_Godoy they gave us Splatoon, give them time to do more. They have so many characters and IP's that what they should be doing is bringing some of them back.
Nintendo, instead of giving us dozen of Mario variety games, bring back series like F-Zero, Kid Icarus, Metroid, a NEW Star Fox that isn't just a retelling of the same game, Ice Climbers, StarTropics etc.
Go ahead and do Smash Bros, Mario Kart and Splatoon on Switch, but past that don't do any more ports or remasters, we've seen way too many of those on the other two consoles! Seriously, it's like the whole X1 and PS4 library is updated ports or remasters of last gen games, and that is just sad that people are actually buying them!
FINALLY, the west gets the much needed Dragon Quest love!!! Best news since the Switch reveal for me, can't wait to get this game! January will be full of Dragon Quest for me, considering I'm asking for VII for Christmas
Obviously they have nothing in the way of games to show right now, it's probably all going to be show on January 12th when Nintendo reveals everything about the console.
As for the games Take Two has, I would love to see GTA V (haven't played a GTA since Vice City on PC, would love to play another game in the series), of course NBA 2k17 because I love basketball, and I would like to also see Bioshock Collection come to Switch, because that series is just fantastic!
January 12th can't come quick enough, same with March 2017! It's like my Christmas begins a 1/4 of the way into next year lol
looks ugly and cheap, plus I rather have the one with the NES classic because it looks and feels like the original, and you can use it on wii/wii u virtual console games.
I have big hopes for the Switch, and I think it will do fairly well if Nintendo keeps the third party around this time.
To me, this system is basically what people where hoping the Wii U was actually going to be. I like the fact that the system looks very slick, and looks more like something a grown up could have in their place, instead of past Nintendo consoles which looked more "childish" looking. I also like the third party support announced for it, but need to actually hear some games coming to this thing.
Only things I can think of that will hurt this system right out of the gate is if Nintendo slaps a too high of a price on the system, and if the third party launch games are basically a year or more older ports of X1 and Ps4 games at full price.
wow, I don't like any of the top 13 in that list lol Me and Japan definitely have different taste in gaming.
I think Nintendo will do very poorly in every region until Switch comes out. Considering it's a console/ portable hybrid, I could see it effecting both Wii U and 3DS sales, with people waiting for the very powerful portable, instead of a portable starting to show it's age.
Absolutely loved going to arcades when I was young to play Daytona USA and Manx TT, and I still play those games a lot on my Saturn! Can't wait to see what the new Daytona USA will look like, and hope some sort of console equivalent will happen (don't have an arcades near me anymore )
I like the Bayonetta one, and the Mario kart red one, but only because I like red, otherwise those are kind of bland. I do hope Nintendo does quickly make special coloured joy con controllers, it's a easy way for ppl to customize the game system.
@DanteSolablood good points indeed, guess I will need to wait for January to really find out. Only reason this news bugs me is because I want a system developers support. I love my Wii U, but I can't own another Nintendo console that most the games are only Nintendo games, I would like to have a good mix of both worlds again this time around
@DanteSolablood yes, but with people thinking it's just another underpowered console, for how long will they stay. We all know how long they stayed with the Wii U before jumping ship. And if the Switch uses a OS that has similarities to Xbox One and PS4, that 4gb is going to seem very small
Depending on how much the os takes up, that really isn't that bad, and is actually really powerful for a console/handheld hybrid.
Problem I can already think of though is that the X1 and Ps4 are already 3 years old, so wouldn't the third party find the Switch basically very old tech and barely support it in only a couple years?
Yea, I grew up with the NES so this is a pretty awesome release! I don't understand all the ppl complaining saying they want a Snes mini and gamecube mini, chances are the snes mini will happen, gamecube mini probably won't happen, but maybe gamecube virtual console on switch might!
Also, I'm great at all genres of video games and been playing for years, and I too also suck at the original Mario bros game lol I always liked Donkey Kong and Galaga more
@WilliamCalley I bought a Wii U at the beginning of this year and definitely don't regret it. I got 36 games for the system already (I have a backlog of games to play obviously) and I bought most the game new and extremely cheap, and there isn't one game I have regretted buying. Now when I had a PS4, that was definitely adifferent story...
@roy130390 still wouldn't consider Metroid creepy or anything though lol and Resident Evil Revelations is mentioned, but it was on last years list. My favourite Halloween like games might be Castlevania series, House of the Dead series, and first Fatal Frame (haven't played the Wii U version yet )
I don't know how Metroid has anything to do with scary or creepy games, but they're great games at least.
I'm playing Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon right now and really enjoying it! I think the first one on GCN is still better, but it is definitely a great sequel so far!
After that I plan to start playing Resident Evil Revelations on the Wii U! Looks like a great game, and I got to try a small bit of it out on a friends 3DS, so I can't wait to get into that.
@IceClimbers yea, would have been nicer if they said it that way, Nintendolife made it sound like 16gb only. Only makes sense they would do it like that.
@SCAssassin ahh ok, I read it wrong. As small as 16gb at first isn't really that bad, and considering it's not really hard to make a card bigger, they could make a bigger one for bigger game of needed.
a lot of what that wall street journal guy says I think is crap. It is possible that it is only 16gb, but why such a limit? would be smarter to have bigger cards than that, especially how big games are getting.
@ClockworkMario I haven't play a GTA game since Vice City on the computer, but I would buy GTA V if it showed up on the Switch and give the series another go
I will say one thing the Switch does have going for it that the Wii U didn't: people are more aware of the system, and most reactions are pretty positive.
I remember the Wii U just confusing people, making people think it was just a gamepad add-on to the original Wii. Also, the Switch is going to have a huge launch game (Zelda BotW) and Wii U had as it's "big" games where Nintendo Land (which had a horrible showing off at E3) and a 2D Mario game, which is kind of sad.
Hopefully the third party people stay with the Switch instead of abandoning the system quick like they did the Wii U. The third party developers also need to realize that Nintendo fans hate lackluster ports of there games, and especially when we don't receive things other consoles got, like dlc.
@Zorox88 well that's good for people buying the physical game cards, but if your buying retail games digitally, that 128gb memory card will be filled up really fast. Usually with updates and dlc it's not too bad when you have the physical game (physical game cards never have more room for updates and dlc, unless Nintendo intends to change that), because that goes seperately on the memory card. Guess we will need to wait for January 12th to get a real answer to a lot of peoples concerns.
@the-madprofessor I'm really hoping that is the case and you are right, guess I will need to wait for January 12th for a lot of the answers to be revealed, but it is kind of weird of a company to show something, than leave all the answers to be revealed only a couple months before a launch
My first thought was that you could plug in a external hdd and put the console in the dock and transfer the game very fast to the memory on the console, why I was upset at this rumour. Guess I'll have to wait and hear from Nintendo what is going on with all this.
Nintendo Switch: 2 steps forward, 1 giant leap back...
The USB C thing is definitely a good thing if it is true, but how can Nintendo think 128gb of storage would be enough if it's playing console quality games, and those games are usually 25gb-50gb in size, and that is without all the updates they see and dlc. No, this is really dumb, you need to support external hdd or else where would people store all there games?!? I really want to support the Switch and Nintendo, but sometimes it's really hard with some of their decisions -_-
@RatKing64 if we aren't getting some of the bigger games, explain Skyrim unless all we get ps3 quality Skyrim, which is only 4gb, but that would suck to get that version on a new console. Even a game like Batman Arkham Knight needs as much as 45gb.
Yea, considering most games like Skyrim are around 50gb minimal, you could fit two games and some saves on a 128gb sd card. So you poor people that like to download your retail games will be transferring your games a lot of the time off, what I assume, is a external hdd you will need to buy and connect into the dock. That sure will be annoying for those ppl, thank god I still only buy physical games, only downloads I do are small virtual console titles.
Second thursday of the new year, definitely a good time to reveal everything we don't know about the console, and also a good time to say "demo kiosks are in store starting monday!".
I expect the console to cost $300-400, to probably release somewhere in the last two weeks of March (after March 20th), and to only have one Nintendo game released at launch (maybe two) so people will support third party games.
Games I would like to see are Zelda, Skyrim, Watch Dogs 2, Street Fighter V, Injustice 2, Dark Souls 3, Batman Arkham Knight GOTY Edition, Fallout 4, and maybe the 3D Mario game. I think Nintendo will only release Zelda or maybe Zelda and another game at launch so not to over shadow the third party games, because Nintendo fans seem to absolutely forget to look at the third party games when they see a Nintendo game, and that tends to make third party hate supporting Nintendo consoles
I love the Wii U, it is probably my favourite Nintendo console to come out of the company since the N64, but Nintendo really failed to make people realize that this console was indeed a new console, and to advertise it.
I still talk to people (people my age that are parents and don't know much about gaming now a days) that have easily heard of ps4 and xbox one, but didn't even really know the Wii U existed, and always ask me what kind of features it had and if it was a updated Wii! I think the Wii U could have been a bigger success if Nintendo just named it something other than Wii U, the system might have actually got more sales than it did. Also, the advertising for the system was pathetic! Only time I seen a commercial was on cartoon channels, and only lil' kids with no money watch those kind of networks! Would have been smart to also have commercials during family tv shows, to get parents aware of the system.
Hopefully Nintendo has learned from there mistakes, and hopefully the Switch is a success for both manufacturers and consumers.
This isn't bad, but not great either. If your love of Sonic begins and ends with the Genesis days, this game would look good, but for a Sonic fans like me that loved playing the Genesis era and the modern era, the game looks very dull. I do like how they made the world look big, and how Sonic will go fast through a loop than fall in the sky to fall in another loop (near the 2:25 mark, I think), I thought that was neat. At best, this could actually be a really cool Sonic 1 remake.
Seriously, this was actually asked by someone at some point?!? People, it's a HOME console, that can also be used as a portable, selling it without the dock just seems really stupid, and besides, why wouldn't you want the dock to play it on the tv, to have the two usb ports to charge controllers and plug in a hdd for more space? I'm sorry, but anyone assuming they would just have the portable part alone are inane -_-

I really doubt it will only cost $329.99, that is just a place holder price, basically meaning they figure it will be that price and higher.
Re: Poll: Retro Delights and Stock Shortages - What Are Your Thoughts on the NES Mini Launch?
I'll gladly wait for it to be something that you can actually find no problem.
I only see this item as a collectors item, because I still own most of these original on my nes, and you can download most these on the Wii U.
So, I'm really not worried

Hopefully the third party people stay with the Switch instead of abandoning the system quick like they did the Wii U. The third party developers also need to realize that Nintendo fans hate lackluster ports of there games, and especially when we don't receive things other consoles got, like dlc.
Re: Nintendo Switch to Reportedly Use USB-C for Charging, But Dock May Not Support External Hard Drives
@Dark-Link73 good point, I remember that too.
Re: Nintendo Switch to Reportedly Use USB-C for Charging, But Dock May Not Support External Hard Drives
Re: Nintendo Switch to Reportedly Use USB-C for Charging, But Dock May Not Support External Hard Drives
I really want to support the Switch and Nintendo, but sometimes it's really hard with some of their decisions -_-
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch Will Support Micro SDXC Cards Up To 128GB In Capacity
@RatKing64 if we aren't getting some of the bigger games, explain Skyrim unless all we get ps3 quality Skyrim, which is only 4gb, but that would suck to get that version on a new console. Even a game like Batman Arkham Knight needs as much as 45gb.
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch Will Support Micro SDXC Cards Up To 128GB In Capacity
Re: Nintendo Switch Presentation Dated For 12th January
Re: Nintendo Isn't The Only Company Impacted By The Failure Of The Wii U
Re: Video: Sonic Utopia - The Ambitious Fan Demo That Might Be Better Than Some Official 3D Sonic Games
@retro_player_22 Sonic makes them more money than you would think...
Re: Video: Sonic Utopia - The Ambitious Fan Demo That Might Be Better Than Some Official 3D Sonic Games
Re: Report Suggests Nintendo Switch Won't Be Offered With a Portable-Only Bundle at Launch
