I like the trailer because it gets the point across, but at the same time most of those scenarios would never happen with me
I wouldn't be playing a game when walking the dog, hanging out with friends having a drink, or after playing basketball, and definitely not in the car cause I would get sick, and I wouldn't play the system while on the toilet, that's just gross -_- About the only one I would is the airplane
@Tasuki you and me both, I stopped buying from them a year ago, mainly because the two stores near me barely have any Nintendo games though. I could understand barely any Wii U games, but the stores near me barely even carry 3DS games, and a lot of the time I had to ask at the counter for a game because they never bothered to display the game on the shelf. Just a overall crappy store...
@Deathstalker83 it's a very powerful system, I will give it that, but it feels like to compete with the Xbox they are getting too many of the american shooter games on the system and not enough of the great japanese games they once had on there older systems. Also, I'm really sick of the "Remasters" of games that only came out last gen -_-
@capitalism to be honest, I only support Nintendo now, so I only play Wii U and 3DS, but if I wanted third party games, I would either hope for a Wii U port or make a gaming pc.
You'll hear a lot of people always bad mouthing Nintendo on some of the weird choices they make in gaming, but you can't argue that Nintendo is a company that cares. Good on them to show these kids a good time
Oddly enough to make a profit, Nintendo needs to release games, I know, shocking right?!? There has been a couple great games released for 3DS (SMT Apocalypse, and Dragon Quest VII) but from Nintendo, all we got to look forward to is Pokemon (which will do well, of course) Mario Party (who cares...), and a crappy port of Super Mario Maker. On the Wii U, we got Paper Mario, which is a great game, but won't get a lot of ppl cause of them making ppl mad that they got rid of a lot of RPG elements.
Nintendo honestly needs to work on having more releases spanning the whole year, and games to play on the former console before the next console comes out. Seriously, the Wii was like this too, they only had Skyward Sword to look forward too at the end, just like on the Wii U we only got Breath of the Wild, which a lot of ppl will probably get on the Switch instead.
@AnteRehn yea, I guess it does. So Nintendo is giving false advertisement basically, cause chances are the real products won't look as nice (like Skyrim). Kind of poopy of them, they should have just kept with Zelda footage, and showing Mario Kart and Splatoon footage on it instead of getting peoples hopes up, and just said the games are from Wii U game footage, won't represent the final graphics or product.
It was obvious the game footage was put there after, but Nintendo should have still put a disclaimer saying so at the beginning of the video. About what I got out of the video is that Zelda is coming to the system, a 3D Mario game is coming, and Skyarim and NBA 2K are coming, but of course the Mario game is probably still gonna change a lot between now and when it is releasing.
@Deathstalker83 whatever reason it is, your at least picking something cool up with the money
I had a PS4 and didn't care for it, I traded it for a Wii U and New 3DS. Everyone thought I was nuts, but I didn't care much for the system, and never played it, the Wii U and 3DS I play all the time.
@Deathstalker83 you traded a new, high end gaming machine just to get a a mini version of a 31 year old console?!?!? Wow, that Xbox One must have been a really horrible system to do something like that...
I think Gamestop is smart to do it, mainly because they probably don't fully know how much of stock they will get I can see Nintendo having small stock on this, so letting first come, first serve will get rid of the people that would just pre-order a bunch of them, then sell them for a crazy price online.
I hope to get one, so I will be in line November 11th, but if I don't get one, ohh well Not as concerned as a lot of people to get this, I guess.
On the DS and 3DS it works great, but is a lot of the time pretty pointless, unless it's a puzzle style game. For the Wii U it was pretty pointless what they used it for, only games to use it good was ZombiU and the Zelda games for quick inventory, but pausing the game and going to inventory did the same thing.
Personally, this doesn't bug me, it will be of course different from what they have done, but features like this aren't a big deal to me, I just like playing great games!
Also, you guys are acting like this thing is more of a 3DS replacement, but the 3DS is still gonna be alive, at least for next year from what we know. All the Switch is doing is what most people wanted the Wii U to actually be. I can see their being a market for both system, at least for awhile until developers fully move from 3DS to the Switch.
People a year ago: "Man, I hate how Nintendo shoves that second screen stuff down our throats! I just want to play with a normal controller! That second screen stuff has no use at all, other than off-tv play!"
Nintendo shows off the Switch, saids it got rid of the second screen stuff and is a portable to take your console game anywhere
People Now: "Ohh man Nintendo! What a step back! I'm really going to miss that second screen stuff! I don't know if I'm liking this Nintendo Switch thing anymore!"
Me: "Yay, I know right!?! How dare they listen to people and give us what we have been wanting basically since the Wii U launched and we thought the second screen stuff was pointless on games other than ZombiU! We should hate this system because Nintendo got rid of something most people never used!"
....yay...seriously people, wth...
I'll be supporting this system, I think it's a smart move on Nintendo to do this, because that inventory on the second screen was easily replaced by pausing the game for a second and quickly going through the inventory
@jimi the Wii U gamepad is different yes, arguably the gamepad is what makes the Wii U so expensive, but the Pro Controller uses the same as the Wii Remotes.
Wii U uses a single layer style blu-ray discs, so it's not quite what most blu ray discs are (most are dual layer at 50GB, some can be triple at 100gb) and Wii is a single layer dvd at 4.7gb, so you could just use a dvd/ blu ray drive and cut out the video playback, not that hard, but if they did get rid of the Wii support completely, it would be cheaper very slightly.
@gcunit kind of weird it doesn't considering the word isn't offensive, unless you are using it to describe a person, but whatever, everything PC now-a-days
@jimi backwards compatiblity isn't expensive, if the system has basically the same design as the former. The Wii could easily do backwards compatiblity with Gamecube, but obviously the system would need to add controller ports and memory card slots, and have the disc drive able to accept dvd and minidvd style discs. In later Wii revisions, these are obviously gone to cut back on costs.
For the Wii U, the system is basically "two Wii's put together" from what they say, basically has the same media dvd player, and uses pretty much the same controllers, so Wii U having a Wii backwards compatiblity is very simple.
As for the Switch, it's completely different in every way. In order to have backwards for Wii U or 3DS, you would need a dvd drive, which would drive the price up, and the 3DS would need a seperate card slot (sounds like the Switch gamecards are thicker, or slightly different). Though this is the case, I can see Nintendo using emulation to get the digital Wii U and 3DS purchases working on Switch.
I could careless about backwards compatibility, a lot of the time your paying more for a console just to have this feature, and considering the system has a way different innards than the Wii U and 3DS, it only makes sense they're is no backwards compatibility.
As for what the Switch will come with in the box, it has to come with the dock, otherwise that would be completely silly. I think Nintendo basically considers the console as the portable and the dock together. Personally I would like to see a bundle with the system, joy cons, joy con grip, and either the new Mario game or Zelda.
Just because Pokemon is enjoyed by children and has a cartoony look doesn't mean its not a game that can't also be enjoyed by adults I'm 30 years old and I've actually enjoyed the latest Pokemon games!
It's a little upsetting that we won't hear more this year, but I think the 3min trailer for hyped up people more than I thought it would and got a lot of people interested.
As a huge Nintendo fan, I will most likely be getting it day one, because I will always love there franchises, and it doesn't matter what weird system they put together, in the end, games are what matter
I will probably be there day one for the system, but I definitely need more information on the system.
How much storage does it have, is it just 32gb flash? Can you plug a hdd into the dock, and if so do you need to transfer the game from the hdd to the flash on the portable/console? What are the launch games? Can you stream your game? Achievements? See, there are a lot of questions still, so even though I love the overall idea of the Switch, we still need to know more, this is just to get the initial hype going.
I personally think it does have touch screen support, but I wouldn't exactly miss it if it didn't.
I don't think it will use touch screen like it did on the Wii U gamepad, but for when you have it on the go and wanting to use the browser, or go through the menu. Considering no one cared for using the gamepad screen as a menu, I could see them getting rid of that idea.
I think you guys might have missed one small thing. When you see the joy con controllers played individually, they look like they are all got there hands placed on it like there is two very small shoulder buttons on them beside where the connector connects to the Switch console screen. It could be me just seeing something that isn't there, but it really does look like there is two shoulder buttons.
I'm really excited for the system, and will definitely get this day one. Hopefully, I will be able to get the new Mario game, Zelda, Skyrim, and (please announce it) Watch Dogs 2 for the system at launch.
Just by looking at the game developers confirmed, there is a lot of great potential games that could come to this system: GTA, Bioshock, Skyrim, Fallout, The Evil Within, DOOM, Dishonored, Wolfenstein, Street Fighter, Resident Evil, EA Sports Games, Star Wars Battlefront, Battlefield, Titanfall 2, Mass Effect, Dark Souls, No More Heroes, Lollipop Chainsaw, Killer 7, Metal Gear Solid, Bayonetta, Sonic the Hedgehog, Final Fantasy, Assassin's Creed, Watch Dogs 2, Paragon.
That is a great amount of third party games to choose from, so lets hope people actually buy the system and support the third party this time around, so we can get great third party games for this system.
throws wallet at Nintendo just take it,come march it'll all be yours anyways! lol
Lots of great stuff, not exactly fond of the name yet, but everything else was so great that I could careless about the name lol
Showed off Skyrim, Mario Kart 8, Splatoon, new 3D Mario game, Breath of the Wild...just awesome!
And I love the controls for this! One pro style controller that takes the controls off and slides into the portable, and another pro controller that is just your basic controller! Also you can use the controllers you slide out in some games and use those seperately like NES style controllers!
I hate to say it, but I want more info on the games now...I NEED MORE! This is a day one for me already!
@Uncensored yea, your probably right, but I figure most games will be announced later. I'm hoping they show the rumoured Mario game coming to the system.
Just to let ppl know, the trailer will be 3 minutes long, they have already said this, so obviously a first look at the system and system name reveal will probably it, but it's at least something.
I thought it was basically insisted that the NX would have NFC and continue to use amiibo, considering Zelda Breath of the Wild is coming to the system and will have a lot of support for amiibo. Seems alil' weird if the Wii U version of the game will have something that the new systems version of the game won't
As for the phone thing, that would be a cool thing to see and would probably sell even more amiibos! Hopefully it gets announced that games like Super Mario Run will use it.
@MysticX yup, you basically got it right, that is the problem, and that's why Nintendo being quiet at this point is very, very stupid. Only difference with me is that I'm looking at a Xbox One, not the PS4
I kind of figured DeNA was making Super Mario Run with Miyamoto help, which is pretty cool, but I really wish the game was also coming to android phones, because I don't own a iPhone and I really hate their products.
I'm really hoping she is right about the system still on track for coming out in March 2017, otherwise I will have barely anything to play at the beginning of next year other than retro games on older systems .
As for the rest of the news, same things we've been hearing week, after week, after week, after week.....
@Zach777 unfortunately, I am getting that way too. Seeing the other systems in stores with tons of games at great prices is actually getting me more hyped to buy xbox or playstation. Nintendo's silence is not getting me hyped anymore, it's just making me more worried about the system than anything.
@NintendoEan if the system is actually delayed, which is highly possible at this point, ppl like me will probably go elsewhere. I'm sorry but only having Zelda on the Wii U planned from here to March is bad enough without them delaying the NX, which would be delaying a mass amount of games!
All I know is this system better be worth the wait, or Nintendo will p/o a lot of their fans.
At this point, I think they might announce a reveal date late October, and maybe a reveal in the middle of November. Revealing it too much later will definitely hurt them, as I imagine a lot of ppl will instead want the ps4 pro/ xbox one s or even something like playstation VR over a system from Nintendo they know nothing about.
Nintendo making ppl wait is just hurting themselves at this point.
yea, at this point we don't even know what the heck the NX is, so it's really hard to get excited over more rumours of a game coming to something we know nothing about. Besides, I doubt it will be a exclusive, unless Nintendo did the same thing they did with Bayonetta 2 and threw money at it to be made.
Seriously Nintendo, just reveal the freakin NX already, this is getting tiredsome.
delay for games are so common now-a-days, I'm just happy we only have to wait a month, unlike some games people have been waiting years to play (Breath of the Wild since 2015, poor playstation people have been waiting for The Last Guardian since like 2007!). End of November seems like a good time to release anyways, it will give me something to play before waiting for March
@Markiemania95 yea, I didn't think it was, it's just the regular game boy games that where compatible. Gameboy Player was compatbile with all Gameboy games though.
Day 287: More mock-ups of the NX are released to troll to people desperately waiting for some kind of info. Nintendo still not sending out any information or any kind of relief on fans worries and wonders on the system. All hope for satisfaction seems to be lost.
Yup, just another day full of NX no show or no info, what else is new? Time to go back to playing Paper Mario...
so sick and tired of the rumours, Nintendo not saying anything, and going to this site and seeing them cater to this rumour crap because there is literally NOTHING else for news right now thanks to Nintendo being so freakin' quiet right now!
SHOW THE NX ALREADY!!!! >< This is seriously the first time I'm tired of a console before I even own the thing, or even know anything about it!
1/ The rewards on My Nintendo, so far, really suck. On Club Nintendo, you could redeem for Nintendo themed physical items AND for full game downloads, My Nintendo only basically offers outfits for Miitomo, small discounts on digital games, and really plain themes.
2/ Club Nintendo had the elite status that gave out really cool prizes (until basically the last year, that one was dull) My Nintendo, as far as we know, won't have this.
3/ You got points for buying the games physically and digitally, and for buying systems on Club Nintendo, My Nintendo you get points for doing stupid things in Miitomo, going on stuff like eshop and miiverse, or purchasing digital content only.
So far, in my opinion, My Nintendo is actually a step down in almost every way to Club Nintendo and what it offered Hopefully, this changes dramatically when the NX comes around, because My Nintendo has already become stupid and dull to me.
I have over 2,500 Platinum coins, purchased the themes that where available and really have no reason to spend the rest of them, so basically I'm collecting for no good reason at this point.
great to hear this sequel is finally happening! Really doubt that this will be a NX exclusive, but I do hope we get it on the NX. When the system is finally shown off, I do hope this and Watch Dogs 2 is coming to the NX, I would be very happy with that
I'm one of the ppl planning to buy a NX at launch, so personally I would probably prefer it on that system over Wii U. The Wii U will be more than dead by the time this game is released in 2018, but I do understand his concerns over what backers want. I think he would be smart to ask the backers what they want, and go by that, but I wouldn't be surprised if they choose to switch to NX. Opinion really does seems to be split on this, though.

@wiggleronacid similar yes, but the Vita did it very wrong, while the Switch is doing it much better.

As for the phone thing, that would be a cool thing to see and would probably sell even more amiibos! Hopefully it gets announced that games like Super Mario Run will use it.
Re: No Strategy Briefing Planned for Nintendo's Q2 Financials - NX, 3DS and Mobile Updates Still Expected
@MysticX yup, you basically got it right, that is the problem, and that's why Nintendo being quiet at this point is very, very stupid. Only difference with me is that I'm looking at a Xbox One, not the PS4
Re: No Strategy Briefing Planned for Nintendo's Q2 Financials - NX, 3DS and Mobile Updates Still Expected
This is getting beyond annoying, it's very obvious Nintendo doesn't want my money, and wants me to buy either a Xbox or Playstation.
Re: Darksiders: Warmastered Edition Hits the Wii U eShop on 22nd November, Retail Version Coming Later
How much you wanna bet that "later" date eventually becomes never Once again, the Nintendo fans getted the crap end of the stick.
Re: Timing of NX Reveal Remains Up for Debate, as Insight Emerges On Super Mario Run Development
Re: Editorial: Some Context on the Nintendo NX 'This Week' Claims
@Zach777 unfortunately, I am getting that way too. Seeing the other systems in stores with tons of games at great prices is actually getting me more hyped to buy xbox or playstation. Nintendo's silence is not getting me hyped anymore, it's just making me more worried about the system than anything.
Re: Editorial: Some Context on the Nintendo NX 'This Week' Claims
@NintendoEan if the system is actually delayed, which is highly possible at this point, ppl like me will probably go elsewhere. I'm sorry but only having Zelda on the Wii U planned from here to March is bad enough without them delaying the NX, which would be delaying a mass amount of games!
Re: Editorial: Some Context on the Nintendo NX 'This Week' Claims
All I know is this system better be worth the wait, or Nintendo will p/o a lot of their fans.
At this point, I think they might announce a reveal date late October, and maybe a reveal in the middle of November. Revealing it too much later will definitely hurt them, as I imagine a lot of ppl will instead want the ps4 pro/ xbox one s or even something like playstation VR over a system from Nintendo they know nothing about.
Nintendo making ppl wait is just hurting themselves at this point.
Re: Rumour: New Beyond Good & Evil Title Set to Be A 'Semi-Reboot' and NX Exclusive
yea, at this point we don't even know what the heck the NX is, so it's really hard to get excited over more rumours of a game coming to something we know nothing about. Besides, I doubt it will be a exclusive, unless Nintendo did the same thing they did with Bayonetta 2 and threw money at it to be made.
Seriously Nintendo, just reveal the freakin NX already, this is getting tiredsome.
Re: Rumour: Darksiders: Warmastered Edition Has Been Delayed
delay for games are so common now-a-days, I'm just happy we only have to wait a month, unlike some games people have been waiting years to play (Breath of the Wild since 2015, poor playstation people have been waiting for The Last Guardian since like 2007!). End of November seems like a good time to release anyways, it will give me something to play before waiting for March
Re: Get Some Nostalgia Feels From These Super Game Boy Borders
@Markiemania95 yea, I didn't think it was, it's just the regular game boy games that where compatible. Gameboy Player was compatbile with all Gameboy games though.
Re: Random: More Straw Clutching as Gamers Wait for the Nintendo NX
Day 287: More mock-ups of the NX are released to troll to people desperately waiting for some kind of info. Nintendo still not sending out any information or any kind of relief on fans worries and wonders on the system. All hope for satisfaction seems to be lost.
Yup, just another day full of NX no show or no info, what else is new? Time to go back to playing Paper Mario...
Re: Nintendo 64 Classic Turok 2 Is Getting The Remake Treatment
Bet you anything this game will stay PC only, or be released on every console BUT Nintendo's
Re: Weirdness: Desperation for NX Details Even Makes an Old Forum Post Interesting
I think Nintendo keeping quiet at this point with the NX is actually starting to p/o people more than get them excited for the system
Re: Fresh Retail Source Reportedly Reinforces and Outlines New Nintendo NX Rumours
so sick and tired of the rumours, Nintendo not saying anything, and going to this site and seeing them cater to this rumour crap because there is literally NOTHING else for news right now thanks to Nintendo being so freakin' quiet right now!
SHOW THE NX ALREADY!!!! >< This is seriously the first time I'm tired of a console before I even own the thing, or even know anything about it!
Re: Talking Point: The Problems With My Nintendo So Far, and Why All's Not Lost
Re: Poll: Six Months On - How Do You Feel About My Nintendo?
What I think of My Nintendo can be summed up in four words: I miss Club Nintendo!
Re: Ubisoft Confirms That Development is Underway on a New Beyond Good & Evil Game
great to hear this sequel is finally happening! Really doubt that this will be a NX exclusive, but I do hope we get it on the NX. When the system is finally shown off, I do hope this and Watch Dogs 2 is coming to the NX, I would be very happy with that
Re: Koji Igarashi on the Wii U Port of Bloodstained
I'm one of the ppl planning to buy a NX at launch, so personally I would probably prefer it on that system over Wii U. The Wii U will be more than dead by the time this game is released in 2018, but I do understand his concerns over what backers want. I think he would be smart to ask the backers what they want, and go by that, but I wouldn't be surprised if they choose to switch to NX. Opinion really does seems to be split on this, though.
