Re: Fans Reckon Nintendo Has "Killed" Mario Kart World With Its Latest Update

chapuH

@roboshort I got MK8 on the Wii U around 2016 (by that point I think 200cc had been added) and never got the DLC, and I agree that both the character roster and battle mode were weaker than in World. While I'm fine with World reducing the number of courses to 30 and shaking up the character roster, what gets me is:

(a) The issues I mentioned are not what you'd expect of a game that has been in development since 2017, like I said.
(b) There's no guarantee of major updates in the future - I mean, it seems like the most logical route post-launch but Nintendo's decisions seem to lack common sense sometimes (e.g, this exact update).
(c) MK8 should not be used as a standard for a game's launch day state, for the reasons you gave above.

Sorry if this reasoning is hard to understand or only vaguely related, I suck at putting thoughts into words

Crazy how unfinished this game (that has been in development for 8 YEARS) feels in some areas, like battle mode, no 200cc or reverse mode, the lack of splitscreen for free roam, the inability to choose individual music tracks on the jukebox. Gutting because World's peaks beat out every other game in the series. Really hoping for a major update in the future.

Re: Nintendo Bags GLAAD Nomination For Paper Mario's Trans Representation

chapuH

I guarantee that if vanilla TTYD released today, Nintendo would get flamed for the mere existence of a trans character in the game. Just emphasises how we all need to step back from the concept of "wokeness" and see that there's nothing wrong with including a more diverse cast of characters in a game/movie etc, as long as they are just as well written as everyone else.

Have a good day yall

Re: Rumour: 'Switch 2' Will Reportedly Be Officially Revealed This Thursday

chapuH

@mariomaster96 True. But if we assume that the April release date being tossed around online is correct for a second, and they want to give the Switch 2 a launch, or near-launch, title besides the games we know are coming this year (Pokemon and Metroid), surely they'd want to show some sort of substantial trailer ASAP to build as much hype as possible?

(Again, the April assumption is just an assumption but it seems the most likely, considering the reports of mass production starting months ago and store-ready units sitting in warehouses).

Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns HD Costs $60 On Switch

chapuH

I don't mind paying $60 for a well done port, but DKCR HD has no new content from the 3DS port (that we know of) and feels like a graphical downgrade of in lots of areas from the Wii, when the whole purpose of a port is a "refresh" of the visuals, controls etc for the newer console.

Guess I'll wait for a sale before picking it up.

Re: Random: Sakurai Reckons Both Mario Wonder And Spider-Man 2 Are Masterpieces

chapuH

It's pretty impressive that he beat both games in a matter of days. Then again, I'd bet a lot of good game developers are also good gamers.

Definitely agree that Wonder is fantastic game. Although it definitely has a few notable caveats (no option to turn off player collisions), it knocks so many things out of the park, like its controls, map and new enemies to name a few (unfortunately, no ps5 means I can't really say anything about Spiderman).

Re: Top 100 Best Nintendo Games Of All Time

If I'm honest, TOTK is such an improvement on the original, BOTW seems a lots more empty than prior to the sequel's release. Yes, it revolutionised Zelda and the open-world genre, but the gameplay is just made to feel inferior by TOTK's brilliance.

(P.S. I've said it before and will say it again, Splatoon 2 being ahead of 3 is nothing short of criminal).

Re: Review: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass Wave 5 - A Good, But Not Great, Penultimate Lap

chapuH

The problem I have with this wave is a lot of the courses have been... well, not butchered but downgraded. Obviously, there is a lack of the Sunset Wilds cycle (the fact this was in Tour takes the pee as well), but a lot of things I liked about Koopa Cape are now changed (e.g., the grey cliffs, the electro shells and water in the tunnel, several ramps in the rapids section). And it's just a joke how little traffic there is to Moonview Highway. I was pumped to experience the hair-pulling frustration of the Wii version but this one just feels defanged.

Re: Splatoon 3 'Sizzle Season 2023' Update Revealed - New Weapons, Stages, Game Modes And More

chapuH

@ComfyAko I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

And more importantly, I'm really sorry I acted like such a jerk. I'm normally a passive sort of guy but when someone criticises something I like (in this case, Splatoon 3), I get very triggered and do things that I regret afterwards. I had no right to start throwing around accusations and passive aggressive comments just because of your difference in opinion to mine.

So again, I'm deeply sorry for my post (and will try to avoid things like this in the future).
