Just in case you somehow missed it, last week saw the release of both Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Marvel's Spider-Man 2. On the same day. For many of us, this resulted in an important decision between the two — which would be played first while the other took a back seat? Legendary games designer Masahiro Sakurai, however, found a simple answer: just smash through both.

After what must have been an intense weekend of gaming, the Smash Bros. creator has taken to Twitter to announce that he has beaten both games, and he considers each of them to be a masterpiece. Keeping it short but sweet, Sakurai goes on to say that both titles are an easy recommendation in his opinion, before thanking the developers — how polite!

Sakurai's full statement can be found below, translated via Twitter's built-in tool.

I finished Spider-Man 2 and Super Mario Bros. Wonder last night. It's a problem when the release dates of big titles you should watch overlap...! However, I think both are masterpieces that I can recommend to anyone. The new games are amazing, and I'm grateful to them for making them.

High praise indeed, eh? Sure, Wonder might not be the longest game out there, but cramming both of these AAA titles into the space of a single weekend is no mean feat. If only we had Sakurai's gaming skills...

Do you agree with Sakurai's opinions on Mario Wonder? Have you had a chance to see how it compares to Spidey yet? Let us know in the comments.
