1. Why is your comment is so unnecessarily provocative? Anyone might think you haven't as even played the game (or worse, are trying to deliberately start arguments).
2. Apart from the obvious stuff like new modes and better connectivity, I honestly don't know what changes could be made to the actual "mechanics" (e.g., squid roll), and I've extensively played all 3 games. What's not broken doesn't need fixing.
3. I'm pretty sure salmon run, a vastly improved story mode, tableturf, QOL improvements, more (and cooler) weapons, more maps, new battle modes and new customisation justifies a new game.

I absolutely loved this trailer up until I realised Barnacle & Dime is the THIRD TETRIS BLOCK STAGE IN A ROW. PLEASE STOP NINTENDO.

Ignoring its monumental impact, Super Mario 64 doesn't deserve a top 20 position (top 100 but not 20). Even though each world remains timeless and impressive today (not to mention the expansiveness of the moveset), the clunkiness of the controls (especially the camera) are hard to ignore in this scenario.

Still, even with experienced developers making the levels, theyre still restricted in terms of the tool available (e.g. enemies, gadgets, power up).

@Sisilly_G What you've said about Super Mario Maker 2 is justifiable, but if I wanted to make my own, say, Super Mario Bros 4, it would inevitably take significantly longer (being less skilled) and lower quality (having access to limited, already existing parts).
This is not to demean SMM2 at all (which is one of my most played games), just to say that I trust Nintendo a lot more than myself.

It's DEFINITELY time for a new 2d mario if a barebones port of one can break into the top 10 (and outmatch odyssey in quarterly sales).

Um, why is Splatoon 3 below Splatoon 2? It literally improves on the latter in every area.

Spot on in my opinion, would have been better as part of a seasonal update. Until more Side Order is shown, the DLC is just a $25 cosmetic.
(and yes, I played the original Splatoon and have lots of nostalgia towards it)

Really hard but probably Kamek. He's just such a substantial part of the recent core 2D platformers to be ignored.
Also, I swear Ice bro has appeared in only like 3 games, so they'd definitely be last.

Alana, Jim and Gavin all say the next Mario will be a new hardware launcher. I know it's rather late into the switch's life but the last three consoles have all had 2+ platformers.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate. The unending possible outcomes of a battle make it infectiously addictive.

Two things:
"Exceptionally dull"? When I saw London Loop on your gameplay video, it looked like great fun, especially the prominence of famous landmarks (if a little complex). But maybe this is just the fact I live near it. Even so, it definitely seems better than Tokyo and even NYC.
And how come this only gets a mini review compared to the first 2 waves?

I'd like a new 2D mario more, as it'd be nice to see a shift away from the "New" series to the inventive, daring and unique concepts seen in the 3 and World (not unlike Odyssey).

But it's been 5 years.
I'd take literally anything.

As a guy who loves the jubilation of clearing a hard level, I'm a little disappointed about the nerfed difficulty.
(Might choose the worst loadouts possible to artificially increase it)

@Mauzuri I know, its really furstrating to see a barebones Strikers game favoured over a 2D mario and more.

There hasnt been a new Mario platformer in 5 YEARS (aside from BF).

Feel this really could have done with a new feature, to hook people on the fence. It didn't even have to be much, maybe a battle royale, to make it easier to distinguish between it and a expanded Splaroon 2 and convince more people to double-dip. More sales... everyones happy.

Oh well. The added variety does look good and I will buy, just not immediately.

Mario 3D All Stars deserves a place. The Sand Bird and Stomp on the Thwomp left me wanting to pull my hair off.

Team Scissors were first halfway through, so yeah this needs tweaking.

@EliSweetG It's a big first-party release. Millions of people need as much information on it as they can to decide if they want to buy.
So yeah, we DO need another Splatoon 3 news article.

@Shambo I can see your point, it just feels a bit bland compared to the anarchic, frantic feel of NA and Japan's boxart. I can totally get why some people like it but it doesn't really strike me.

The background of the Europe artwork looks like a rock. Easy NA and Japan win.
