Re: Despite the Rumours, Nintendo NX Will Not be Android Based

belmont

@DarthNocturnal @Hikingguy Hey I thought I was the only one that NX would be a SteamOS machine. Way back when SteamOS was announced I saw a forum post on a SEGA forum that SEGA could create a new console as a SteamOS machine. They would offer every third party games and they would create their own application, like Steam, that would be pirate "secure" and would play DRM free SEGA games from cd or digital download (like PS4). SEGA games would be available only from the SEGA application.

Then when NX was announced the thought immediately came to me: a strong SteamOS PC (removes the third party problem) and a second application with Nintendo and Virtual Console games ONLY with the option to transfer Wii U VC games

SteamOS is basically Ubuntu, so you can program everything easily.

Re: Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Gets a Wii U Stretch Goal

belmont

I have backed the project for PS4 but, at first, I wanted Wii U and Vita versions. But after watching the campaign I am afraid that they may have to downgrade their vision of the game. They said otherwise but it seems clear that Wii U, 3DS and Vita cannot handle the game. However those guys at armature have done some great Vita games, Injustice, Metal Gear HD...

Re: Talking Point: Is Konami About To Exit The Console Game Business?

@Quorthon Seems that I may have been right though:
http://www.siliconera.com/2012/08/02/hideo-kojima-turned-lords-of-shadow-into-castlevania-lords-of-shadow/
/QUOTE[Cox says that Konami gave the Castlevania license to MercurySteam, only to take it away soon after, as the publisher’s upper management considered the proposed new direction for the series “too radical”. Cox went to Japan with a video of Lords of Shadow to present it to Konami once more. The meeting consisted of Konami’s senior managers, and Kojima happened to be in attendance as well. Upon seeing MercurySteam’s demo, Kojima allegedly stood up and said: “This is awesome, why isn’t this Castlevania?”]
Thus without Kojima we had LOS but with him we have Castlevania LOS. I also enjoyed LOS (all 3 games) but seriously it wasn't Castlevania. You could put Kratos there and have the game work fine. In this sense the series were "ruined".

Re: Talking Point: Is Konami About To Exit The Console Game Business?

belmont

I really don't get all this Konami hate.
Why it is so bad to release only two games per year? Last year we had Lords of Shadows 2 and Pro 2015. Also they released some classics on PSP/Vita (Silent Hill Origins, Silent Hill SM, Gradius, the PSP Castlevania game et al). That's fine for me. Do we really need Konami to make a new Castlevania or Metal Gear per year like Pro?
This year we had Suikoden 1 and 2 and we will see Metal Gear TPP and Pro 2016. Seems enough.

As for Kojima I really enjoy his games but surely it was only Metal Gear. They have more games. Also Kojima was partially responsible for turning Castlevania to a God of War clone. Kojima can find a decent job elsewhere. Konami makes money from other gaming business in Japan and they already hire people for the next Metal Gear and may make a new Silent Hill anyway. They are not going anywhere

Re: The Nintendo 3DS is Now Four Years Old in Europe

belmont

I got a 3DS for about 240 euros about a week before the price drop was announced and man I was surprised of how outdated it fell and of how super slow it was. However I never regretted getting it. It has some very cool games. The Layton ones are my favourite with Layton vs Ace Attorney being my favourite game in the system. Other great games are Resident Evil Revelations, Sonic Generations, Dead or Alive, Mirror of Fate,my Dual Destinies and the backlog of my old time favourites Game Gear and Game Boy.

Re: Nintendo Pitched For The Media Rights To Harry Potter Back in 1998

belmont

Anyone remembers the two Harry Potter games that were released on the Gameboy Color? (Philosopher's Stone and Chamber of Secrets). They are two of my favourite games on the system. They were final fantasy style rpg games that followed the books (not the movies). Prisoner of Azkaban on GBA followed a similar concept.

Re: Review: 3D After Burner II (3DS eShop)

belmont

I am a huge SEGA fan. SEGA somehow manages to troll its fans from time to time but I really like how handles the Classic games except the Game Gear ones.

As far as Mega Drive is concerned there is the huge PS3 Mega Collection, a cool PS2 and PSP (Vita) collection, almost all MD games are in Steam and Wii VC (not on Wii U VC though). Master System Classics are on Wii VC too. And we also have those cool 3D Classics on the 3DS.

However I would also want more Game Gear games, as some friends stated above. Even some Jap imports. There is Sonic Chaos, the second Tails game, Phantasy Star Adventure, Phantasy Star Gaiden and more. GG is really a cool console.

At some point SEGA should offer classic games from Mega CD, Saturn and Dreamcast.

Anyway waiting for Outrun next week. Outrun if one of my favourite games ever.

Re: New Exploit Makes The 3DS Region Free Without The Need For A Flashcard Or Game Cart

belmont

@JaxonH Let me put it to somewhat more detail. When I said "worldwide" release I meant North America, Europe, Australia, other PAL regions and maybe South America. Japan was out. Just like how Steam somehow got it right. IOS and Android do this too. I am not sure since I never had an X-box but MS does the same I think. Same release date on all major western territories via Nintendo eshop and PSN. A unified rating system is not needed as proved by Steam. The only problem, as I see it, is translating the game in major EU languages but most people know English nowadays. A publisher that wants to translate a jrpg may do it, submit it to Nintendo or Sony only once and let the do the rest. Sony does this already for indie developers. I think a unified digital store for Ninty and Sony. Others have done it. It may be costly or unpractical but they surely can do it. Hope I made sense.

As for the Vita it may wasn't the best example but since it is the top chose these times for localizations I mentioned it.

Re: New Exploit Makes The 3DS Region Free Without The Need For A Flashcard Or Game Cart

belmont

Region lock is a bad relic of the past (when TV sets were different) and needs to go away. This is the digital age. Games should be available on the same date, just like steam does. Both Nintendo and Sony have delayed games for stupid reasons like "QA" and "Rating" although the problem is not as huge as the previous years.

@JaxonH "Ultimately, region free consoles can lead to less localizations." I used to agree with you but now we have tons of localizations for region free platforms like the Vita with EU dates almost same as the US ones to avoid import. In fact the only notorious EU game delays from recent memory are SMT4, the latest Blazblue and the first Persona fighting game.

Re: Wii Disc Software Heading to the Wii U eShop

belmont

I don't want to complain, I really want to see some Wii games on Wii U, although I would prefer some third party games as well.

The problem I have is with Wii U VC. We were told that there is no way to play them on the Game Pad (without the WiiMote) without paying some extra money and know they tell us that we can and ask again for money. Those games are ports that the Classic Controller buttons are somewhat mapped on the Game Pad and the Wii games are playable without WiiMotes or the TV. Why can't we do this with all Wii VC games that we paid a lot of money to buy?

Re: Retrospective: The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap - A Decade On

belmont

@GloryQuestor Problem is that, as an ambassador myself, the GBA emulator is not so good. Some colours seem wrong, some games look very pixelated, there are no savestates and if you close the 3ds there is no sleep mode. They are good to give away for free but not so good to ask money for them. This is somewhat bad considering that the unofficial PSP emulator is better. Nintendo does not release half or broken products and unless they work on the emulator again the games won't be released. That seems not so possible now but maybe in the somewhat stronger new 3ds...

Re: Nintendo Europe Shipping Ambassador Edition New Nintendo 3DS to Select Club Nintendo Members Right Now

belmont

Got the e-mail! I am ambassador of the original 3DS and I have bought tons of VC games and retail releases from the e-shop or via GAME e-shop codes.
3DS for the most part, Wii VC and Wii U VC also.

However I am out of money and wanted an XL model since I find the screens in my original model small. The problem though is mostly that the quality is not that good. Long game sessions in the original 3DS give me a soft pain in the hand, another reason to get the XL model. Also 230 euros for very outdated hardware is a little too much.

Also I don't live in the UK. I buy from UK since Nintendo is not really popular here. GAME codes made buying games easy for me. Although I can pay I am not sure if they ship to South Europe.

Re: Satoru Iwata Highlights Frustration at Missed Wii U Features and Aims to Improve for Next-Gen Hardware

belmont

I am afraid they will simply dump the Wii U after the next wave of first party games is released next year. Nintendo has this habit, they dumped the Wii while PS3 and 360 still get major game releases. They did the same with GC too.

Missing from the Wii U are the Ethernet port, a media player, a huge hard drive disk, blue ray support, more VC games (N64, GC, SEGA platforms), a proper OS (still it is very slowwwww). But the biggest problem is the lack of games. Still waiting for Xenoblade.

In the end of the day that I would definitely want for the next home system is the ability to transfer all my digital games, including my huge collection of VC games (when I buy VC instead of Wii U software something is clearly wrong with the system). Nintendo seems to offer BC with only the immediate previous generation but I would like to play all my VC collection in the new system, even those only playable on Wii mode.

Re: Poll: Fake Wave 4 amiibo Images Make Us Dream of More Figures

belmont

OK so I went today to buy an amiibo or two. I don't care about extra game content. I don't play Mario Kart or Smash. I wanted some for collector purposes. I ended up buying none! I was frustrated of how low quality and cheap they look. Seriously a 9.99 euro marvel action figure is better painted. I also checked the Disney Infinity marvel figures and they were somewhat better than amiibo but still looked cheap. I may get some either way but way later for less than 10 euros or something...

As for a new figure Bayonetta. Obviously...

Re: Feature: Batman Vs. Superman In The Battle Of The Nintendo Games

belmont

All the Batman games were cool but you could change Batman with X hero (Strider on Ninja Gaiden). Due to the technical limitations you couldn't really feel that you were playing as the Batman. This was resolved only recently with the Arkham series. Even on the PS2 most Batman games were generic action titles although some were fun to play.

Re: NINJHAX Exploit Is All About Nintendo 3DS Homebrew And Not Piracy, Says Creator

belmont

I always want to see what the homebrew community has to offer. Some years ago I got my second PSPgo for this reason. They were some excellent emulators and games. I still play with it time to time.

However now times have changed. You can easily use android devices for emulation and homebrew and this is far more convenient of risk of bricking you device, Nintendo blocking the exploit etc. Also you can also media players, internet and social media on an android device.

I may try this to see if there are some cool homebrew especially if it somehow helps to remove the stupid relic of the past called region lock.

Re: Sony: PS Vita Is Better Than 3DS And The Wii Brand Is A "Shadow Of Its Former Self"

belmont

@Bolt_Strike Last week with Tales of Hearts.

@Tobias95 I have more games than you on my Vita, including Plus games of course.

The "Vita has no games"is not true and it is Sony's fault that everyone believes this due to bad marketing. If someone likes games made in Japan, jrpg games, fighting games, indies he will love the system. Clearly Vita is not for everyone, maybe not even for an average game though.
