Re: New Story Trailer For Apollo Justice On 3DS Reveals Release Dates For North America & Europe

belmont

@Nego This does not explain why there are countless Sherlock Holmes games released. In fact I have a new one on PS4. As for Gyakuten Kenji 2 we are left with fan translation but it is good as @BranJ052 stated. Too bad that both Edgeworth games are not as good as the main series.

Capcom may think that those games, as spin offs, won't sell except a small fanbase. I want the games but I can't really blame them on this.

@JubilifeRival Will there be an AA7 though?

Re: Wii U OS Version 5.5.2 Is Now Live

belmont

After all those years I gave up waiting them to make the Wii U OS faster. Anyway as long as they keep the Wii U VC (regardless of the bad emulation on some titles) up I am good, the Switch has no appeal to me yet.

Re: Guide: Where to Pre-Order Your Super NES Classic Edition

belmont

@Grumblevolcano This happens only with Nintendo hardware. Sony and MS set their prices in the whole region. To tell you the truth I live in mainland Europe so, since Nintnedo doesn't set the price I am afraid it may retail for 90 euros.

Moreover I am afraid SNES VC on Switch may be delayed even more.

Re: The Industry Is Stronger When Nintendo Is Strong, Says Sony's Jim Ryan

belmont

I really don't see the point of owning a Switch now. Most of its games are available on the Wii U and PS4. This will change though for me if/when Virtual Console arrives and when jrpg games start arriving. Especially if I can somehow transfer VC games from my enormous Wii U collection I will buy one on the spot.

To tell the truth from the initial reveal Switch seemed more like a successor to the Vita than the 3DS. It promises, like the Vita, console like experiences everywhere something that the 3DS was incapable (to be fair it was weak even in 2011) while taking a step further that the Wii U where off tv play was only available in one room. Moreover from the initial momentum it may take the spotlight from Vita in japan as far as jrpg games are concerned.

If I am not mistaken though this Wii60 thing no longer holds. PS3 caught up on sales with the 360 and still sells and gets AAA games like Persona 5 while the other platforms have fallen in oblivion years ago. All things considered we should rethink the winner of last gen gaming wise.

Re: Virtual Console Will Not Be Ready For Nintendo Switch Launch

belmont

I have not preordered a Switch since I cannot afford one right now but even if I could I don't think I would. Firstly it is way expensive since you have to buy a memory card, a travel bag and (maybe) controller.

But no VC and way to transfer old VC games is a huge blow. Honestly for me it was a selling point at both the Wii and the Wii U as an official way to play retro classics (although overpriced sometimes). This and the fact that the most appealing games (to me) are available in other systems I have makes Switch less appealing. Too bad since I love portable platforms.

Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo Switch Super Bowl Ad Was a Huge Success, But Why?

belmont

@NEStalgia @Joestar- @wombatkidd Thanks for clarifyng this. I am from Europe so I don't even know how American Football is played. Yet it is still bizzare to me that someone would watch something for the commercials. I watch European sport events like Champions' League or Euroleague (European Basketball Championship) but in the commerials I just switch the channel (or boot a game console).

Re: Feature: 30 Essential Wii U eShop Games

belmont

I think a list of exclusive games would work better since all the multiplatform games are generally better on PS4.

Another fun game is Twisted Fusion. It is true that he eshop has many good games, just not a lot of exclusives.

Re: The Nintendo 3DS Has Now Sold More Units In Japan Than The PlayStation 2

belmont

@Forral I think that since it is PS2 (not PS3) the vast majority only had one. I have a launch model that still works great even though I have installed two (!) different modchips becuase I wanted to import jrpg games from America (the curse of being a PAL jrpg gamer). There was no reason to buy a PS2 Slim. PS2 base model was one of the most trustworthy pieces of hardware made. PS3 on the other hand is a different story. The almost launch (non PS2 BC) model I have almost failed me so I got a cheap non hdd super slim and swapped the hard drive.

@DanteSolablood44 I don't! Nintendo always finds ways to take our money. Old first party games are still sold in launch price, no digital cross buy, lots of handheld console iterations, no meaningful digital discounts, overpriced outdated hardware and the list goes on. I know all of them but I still always fall victim. I got a new 3ds and it is not a 180 euro worthwhile upgrade since the os is still stupid slow!

Re: The Nintendo 3DS Has Now Sold More Units In Japan Than The PlayStation 2

belmont

@DanteSolablood Yes you are right in this. Before the 3ds massive price cut it was sold here for 280 euros! And the hardware was outdated even back then! Same price as I bought the PS2 years ago. Clearly they made tons of income but it did not sell that much till the price cut. However you may be right that they still profited from the 180 euro price tag for the small model since it is sold for about this price even now.

This does not change the fact that PS2 has more software sales than 3ds. I have not seen a chart but I would very surprised otherwise.

Re: D-Day Comes For The Game Boy Color As It Finally Hosts Wolfenstein 3D

belmont

@vincentgoodwin GB,GBC,GBA emulators work great on PSP. There is no need to hack it though, there are versions of the emulators that have been patched to work with official firmware.

I will look into what you said for original cards.
I checked ebay, there are modded original GBA's and GB's as well as the so called GBA bright. I may have to invest in whatever is cheaper.

Re: D-Day Comes For The Game Boy Color As It Finally Hosts Wolfenstein 3D

belmont

OK so I know that GB emulators for PSP are great but since I have a ton of original carts across all GB devices what is the best portable way to play them?

For GBA the best screen seems the Micro one to me (but it doesn't play GB and GBC games) but I don't have the GBA with brighter screen. Any other suggestions? I just want a proper backlit system...

Re: Eiji Aonuma and Satoru Takizawa on the Fate of Wind Waker 2

belmont

When I first saw Wind Waker I was disappointed by the cartoon look since I was expecting something else due to the tech demo. However when I finally bought it I kind of forgave the graphics. The major problem with the game was that it was simply boring with long sail segments, easy dungeons and bad story.

Re: Review: Pokémon Sun and Moon (3DS)

belmont

To add to the discussion: Pokebank is good IMHO. It is somewhat slow but it works to mass trade characters from any 3ds game to any 3ds game. There some downsides though. You cannot evolve pokemon that evolve through trading and (this is very strange) the Pokemon cannot hold items in the bank. I understant not having Key Items or HMs but why can't they have Megastones or Master balls? It is not that they glitch the game or anything...

Re: Review: Pokémon Sun and Moon (3DS)

belmont

From what I have seen so far those games suffer from the same problems that XYORAS have. The graphics look like a pixelated mess. They are not ugly but there are not good either. Also everything is super slow: the dialogue (even in fast settings), animations at the beginning and end of battles and more, the frame rate is very bad. Also there is this National Dex thing that is the biggest problem to be honest that strays from the "got to catch them all" formula. I suppose Sun/Moon have only 31 boxes too that by no means are not even enough to store all characters (including variations) in the cart.

Re: The Xbox One Now Has A Nintendo 64 Emulator

belmont

@mikegamer @Utena-mobile It is not only you, I think most Wii U emulators suffer from poor performance on some areas in order to give us "authentic feel". N64 is the worst one. I still find it bizarre that I can't stretch the image full screen on TV or on the Gamepad. The color problem is there somewhat on the GBA emulator also. In this point I don't think the emulators will be updated nor that we will see many more Wii VC games updated for Wii U (like Final Fantasy for example).
