@Peach64 Well said. As stated by some friends in the comments only hardcore Nintendo and gaming fans watch the Directs. Most people don't know what a Wii U is or what Nintendo Directs are yet all know that PS4 and X1 are coming.
This is the definition of bad marketing. Directs are good for fans but are not going to attract new customers.
Now as EU directs are concerned they are funny to watch but the presenters are not that fluent with English
I am not that hyped for it as I was for Black 2. The visuals have improved but still look sort of bad considering the capabilities of 3DS, I really hate this pixelation. The new pokemon look awfully familiar with old ones. Also you should be able to train the base stats of pokemon in battle, not with a mini game.
Another topic I want to discuss is that in previous games uploading pokemon you already collected in previous generations was bad, stupid and time consuming. It should just let you upload them once you beat the game. I hope they change it in the new games. In fact this may be a selling point for me.
Luigi Confirmed As Part Of The Smash Bros. Roster! WOW.
Let me confirm some more facts, just remember you read theme here first NBA 2K14 will star basketball players while I can also confirm that in Pro 14 you can control football players (eleven on each team). And last but not least in Sonic Lost World you can control Sonic the Hedgehog and in Layton VS Phoenix Wright you play as Layton and Phoenix Wright.
I am obviously joking. The news would be the inclusion of a non Nintendo character on Smash Bros.
Seems like it did not sell that well as excepted to some extend. I "smell" a Vita and/or HD port. Anyway, as it is sort of obvious, I am a longtime fan of the series and, even thought I had fan with it, this game plays like a strange 2D God of War clone and not like a true Castlevania game.
I would prefer another Metroidvania game or another classic game like the WiiWare version and clearly don't like the Lords of Shadow direction. Don't get it wrong the games are very fun but as God of War clones, not as Castlevania games.
Better third party support for Vita than Wii U doesn't come as a surprise. Sony said themselves that while Vita has not sold great it has a loyal base that buys a lot of games. I too like it and has become my favorite game system.
As for Wii U I bought one some weeks ago because I found it "cheap" (200 euros new). Of course due to this I am low on cash now (I also try to save for PS4) and I have not bought a game this far. However now there is no game I want very much and the only future releases I will surely get are Bayonetta 2 and X.
Wii U need more games from first and second parties since lots of third parties abandoned it. It also needs ADVERTISING. No E3 presentation did not help, only loyal gaming fans watch Nintendo Directs. Almost no one knows what a Wii U is. I have seen signs in local shops that write "Wii U games don't work on Wii" with big letters... Seems that some custorems bought Wii U games when they only had a Wii.
The day games like Peace Walker, Golden Abyss, RE Revelations, Mirror of Fate, Ghost of Sparta, Crisis Core, Blazblue et al will be available in mobile phones I will quit gaming
You can preorder Ducktales in PSN, price 13.49 euros (there is no PS Plus discount). I preordered it and I assume the Wii U price to be similar. I was thinking of getting it on Wii U due to off tv play but again I can't. Why is it so hard to release prepaid cards in the whole Europe?
The Hz problem is now solved but the problem of game availability remains. I am an rpg player and there are many of them on PSP and DS that never left America to Europe so I never played them. This is 2013 not 1990. Why is it so hard to release rpg games in all regions even if we talk only about digital releases?
Of course I could import some PSP games but I didn't, waiting to give my money to a EU publisher but nothing happened. I would easily buy a psn release of many of those games and I ended buying some of them second hand (Legend of Heroes Gagharv trilogy for example). As far as DS is concerned I bought a minority of US only rpg that were imported from local shops.
3DS is region locked for some stupid reason and there is still problem with j-rpg availability with many games skipping EU or getting released more that a year later. SMT4 is an example. We have no idea when we will play it in EU, I won't import it but I don't have the option to do that I did with DS/PSP.
In the end the problem, excluding the Persona 4 Arena fiasco, seems to have been solved in PS3 when many recent rpgs get published almost simultaneously on both retail and digital. On Vita the situation is unclear yet. Persona 4 was very delayed.
Atlus games rarely get published in Europe or we get them very late to the point were the interest has somewhat faded... I really liked some of the PS2 games they made but few of their DS/PSP games were published here. Their biggest recent releases Persona 4 Golden and Persona 4 Arena arrived veryyyy late.
May I ask something, can someone who has bought the game tell me if you can you mute the annoying mbibmbib in the "speech" that was so annoying in the DS version?
@Shadowkiller97 Not exactly right. If you are PS Plus subscriber from PS3 or Vita you will have free games on PS4 day one including Drive Club. Most PS3 players updating day one to PS4 are likely to have a Plus subscription anyway so there is no real immediate cause to drop 60 more euros for a game. That's why I will get one close to the release date if I have the 400 euros by the time it will be released.
Also 32GB in Wii U is very very little storage. If you also buy an external drive wii U will cost more than the 500GB PS4.
I never got into the original so am not really looking forward to it. Bland and uninteresting plot, super easy, bad sailing system. Of course this will be a great game for fans of the original but it is no system seller. I agree with the friends from above that suggested a remake of Majora's Mask.
Since Mirror of Fate my I haven't played my 3DS. I look forward to this and other jrpg localizations (in fact they are the only games I look forward for 3DS due to the legacy from DS) but, as usual, they are not published at all or are published very late in Europe to the point where the interest and the hype is somewhat lost.
Still the status of the release date in Europe is vague. I don't see it coming in Summer 2013 as promised. This is 2013 not 1990! Why is it so hard to release games worldwide?
And Day One DLC is obviously a rip off to loyal fans.
In my opinion Link's Awakening is the best Zelda game with Majora's Mask coming second. LA has likable characters and a plot that you actually care for something uncommon for Zelda games because most have bland and boring storylines.
I have played the game a lot of times and still am not so sure for the nature of the Wind Fish and the monsters. This game is an example of adventures that will be forever remembered like classic rpg adventures.
I would prefer Pro on Vita but I will just get it on PSP.
Believe it or not Pro is very popular in many European countries. I live in Greece and Pro is the only game with Greek voice commentary so it sells very well here. Also the only other game with Greek voices is the latest God of War.
Am I the only one tired of all those Fifa, fps, Mario end much more games that have a new version every few months? Only a Final Fantasy back in the series roots would interest me. It is great obviously for fans of the above titles to enjoy each new iteration.
I want something fresh and this seems to happen from both high budget releases and indies. As far as Nintendo is concerned I would like some localizations of jrpg games on 3DS. I don't have a Wii U yet and till now nothing it has appeals to me much and I can play most games on my PS3.
OK, except from Layton nothing from the above. Seriously Revelations and Mirror of Fate are the best experiences on 3DS this far. I also enjoyed Dead or Alive.
@Melkaticox Simple really, I don't have a Wii U yet and I always prefer portable versions of game. Since the release of Vita most PS3 games are identical on Vita so I either cross buy or just simply buy games on Vita.
Only Bayonetta 2 interests me somewhat. Till now I may be the only one that vote for it. I 'd like Rayman but I 'll just get it for Vita sometime. I like the new Sonic game but I can buy it on 3DS. No real reason to get a Wii U.
The updated battery is a great idea although I 'd like a 750GB-1TB model since I don't like to have extra stuff hooked in my consoles. Sometime through the console's life when costs drop more it could be possible. 32GB is sooo few even if you don't plan to go digital with retail games.
@Denkou Are you sure about that? If it is true why retailers stock them in the first place? If I buy a 20 euros PSN card I gain 20 euros of credit on my account but Sony may somehow lose some small percentage that would go to ship costs and to the retailer. If it is true though it may explain why Nintendo doesn't offer prepaid cards where I live (I want to buy stuff for my 3DS and I can't).
Retailers still get money from my PSPgo since I buy prepaid cards from them to buy my software!
Anyway that kind of free promotion is great for Wii U (and PS4). Leave Nintendo and Sony's marketing department to Microsoft
The mandatory online is something very stupid in my opinion. Let's say my provider has some issues and I don't have internet for two of three days or that simply I don't have a connection why shouldn't I be able to play single player games?
I have played most Tales games that were localized in EU. My favorite one is one on PSP, port of a PSone title Tales of Eternia. Apart that Tales of Symphonia was also an rpg I enjoyed a lot. Dawn of the new world began with an interesting twist but become sort of boring and broken when certain characters join. Generally there was sort of lack of rpgs on Cube and Wii which was sort of bad to us jrpg fans. It is bad that various Tales for DS and PSP were never localized.
I recently got Graces on PS3 and look forward to Xillia. Too bad the collectors edition is sort of expensive.
@Rei7 I thought that UK or Germany codes don't work on the stores of other EU territories. Anyway I don't have a credit card but I could ask a friend abroad to buy me one.
