This application was not so useful anyway. 3DS needs a proper e-mail application. Also if there was a proper system they could just ban those that caused this.
@Worthy I got your point about the 3DS, I just tried to explain why it may be profitable to make Vita games. The same applies to the Wii U. EA thinks there is no audience for its games and gamers that prefer its games have a PS3, X-box or/and a Vita. This may be real. I have a Wii U but there is no way I would never buy, for example, FIFA, Batman Arkham Origins, Injustice or Need for Speed on it except if they cost 10 euros or something. I don't know or care about X-box but PlayStation has bigger online community, trophy support, proper dlc support in both PS3 and Vita (even cross-buy in some cases on indie and first party titles).
So, as you said, they may release FIFA 15 Legacy Edition next year that will cost them no money to make because there will be minimal gain from the development of a new version.
@Worthy If we believe Sony Vita owners buy lots of games for it so there is market. I personally have more than twenty games for it not counting PSP and PS1 games. However after the excellent Need for Speed Most Wanted port EA abandoned the Vita and they only released Fifa 14 Legacy Edition for it. Also I am not so sure if most EA games can find a target audience in 3DS easily.
What I can't understand is why, even though EA gets a lot of hate in the internet, why it has some of the biggest franchises sellwise.
Young Justice was a great show with clever story telling. This with Avengers Earth Mightiest Heroes are my favorite ones. Before them the 90's superhero shows were better than the recent ones in my opinion.
As far as the game is concerned, even though I have a Wii U I would go for PS3 anyway.
I rarely play co-op or online games but this is 2013 not 1990. Nintendo should catch up with the times.
@linkstrikesback Exactly. As stated in the comments there are many who study or work abroad or on another city and may want to play with friends and family from their hometown.
OK it is a pain to buy stuff from the e-shop. For some strange reason my debit card does not work. For some stupid reason Nintendo does not release prepaid cards here.
The only possible solution I can think to buy this game is order a prepaid card from the UK and change my 3DS region to UK. It does not justify the cost to order a card and pay the shipping fee... Does anyone know of a UK shop that sends the Nintendo prepaid cards codes via e-mail? Can someone think of another way? Expect from Ace Attorney there are more games I want and I can't buy...
I have a question. Videos of the game show it like a highly pixelated mess. Reminds of Dragon Quest Monsters or something. Is the game movement smooth or pixelated? I know that, except RE Revelations, most 3DS games show this behavior on videos however I would like to know.
It would be good if it was a demo.
Also is there an easy way to transfer all my monsters from Black 2 to X or Y? In all the older games you could not do a mass transfer so you had to do one by one or six by six by stupid, tedious and time consuming ways.
If you buy, let's say FF7 on PS3 you can also play it for free on a PSP and PS Vita. Yet if you want to play, let's say, Zelda on all your Nintendo consoles you have to pay three times for it.
The story when someone that wants to destroy or take over the world for no reason and somehow kidnaps a princess in the proccess is a think of the past. This should change. Link's Awakening and Majora's Mask that do not follow this formula are two of my favourite games.
Zelda needs changes. Even if it is 2d or 3d the same plot elements and items have been recycled a lot of times to the point of becoming boring. Also the whole presentation feels dated with silent and uninteresting characters, no voice acting and text that takes a lot of time to show on screen.
I would like to see a Zelda game with new items and gameplay elements and more cinematic presentation.
@Warruz Thanks for clearing this up about kickstarter.
I have a local debit card but it doesn't work with the Nintendo e-shop. I have not tried it with psn since I just get prepaid cards for my PSP/Vita/PS3. There is no way I will get a second card only to buy games, otherwise it would be useless to me.
Vita for me since you still can't buy 3ds games without credit or debut card here. Why it is so hard to release prepaid cards is beyond me.
I am not sure how kickstarter works but who can we be sure that the version we want will surely be released once the money target will be reached? Also can we be sure that the 3ds and Vita versions won't end up be bad ports of, let's say, the PS4 version?
@element187 I think it is the opposite actually. It may be native on PS4 and downscaled on Wii U and Vita. Also I think that the majority of sales will be on Sony platforms since they have the most jrpg games and the majority of jrpg players.
@MJKOP Yeah Wii had a lot of great games. If you are a fan of j-rpg or fps or sports games PS3 has better games and still has great support but even thought Wii's lifespan was short and it felt outdated I did not regret buying it even if I played much less titles like the ones I have on my other current supported system (PS3).
All Resident Evil installments were great. I played Umbrella Chronicles a lot of hours (the HD version is even better!). Other personal favorites are Final Fantasy Fables, Xenoblade, Last Story, Pandora's Tower, Dawn of the New World, Project Zero 2. Fragile Dreams. If I had to choose one game that would be Another Code R. Too bad these games stopped being made. Also VC has almost everything (even though is overpriced).
However I still think Wii Sports as a not so interesting game showing off a not so useful gimmick and that the casual market will not pay ~300 euros to play the same game again. Most of them have the Wii in the closet for years and may have already forgot about it.
The PSP game could also have a lot of digital sales in the first week though. Anyway I look forward to Monster Hunter 4 although I may have to use circle pad pro. In the third game it seemed almost essential to me.
@Superconsole From the technical point of view how is the game visually? I have not seen the most recent trailers but former ones showed that the game was looking sort of very bad and very pixelated (both in the field and in battle) for the 3ds standards set by other games. In fact it looked like some pixelated version of Dragon Quest Monsters in DS. I know that Pokémon were never the best looking games but I thought I would ask since I am still undecided on the games even though I have enjoyed most of previous generations.
The Vita was marketed as a portable PS3 and this will somehow continue since PS4 and Vita will have some more cross buy titles. Also I can play Vita/PSP/PSOne games on the go on my Vita and continue on Vita TV in the house. Also if I play on PS4 or Vita TV and I want to use the TV to watch sports or something I can switch to remote off tv play to continue gaming on Vita. I don't think I will buy a Vita TV soon though since PS4 is my first target. Games that use the touch screen or the touchpad may be patched to work with Vita TV. I have no idea what Microsoft does since I have never touched an X-Box (although I like some of their products like windows 8).
As for Nintendo with the Wii U and 2DS it seems to me that they want to create a console that can function like the PS Vita anytime but if you have a TV you can somehow play its games on the big screen. So I see the industry going to one device for both portable and home entertainment. Tablets and Netbooks already do this with the HDMI ports since newer devices have the power for this.
The problem I personally have with Nintendo is that somehow their games don't appeal to me any more. I almost completely buy second or third party games on their consoles. The last games I got for 3DS were Mirror of Fate, Revelations (regretted buying them since the definite version came only 3-4 months later on PS3) and Layton 5. And I don't think I will buy something more than Layton 6 or jrpg games. My last Wii games were the last big three jrpg games. I have a Wii U but I haven't bought a game yet. Nintendo must see the digital era better. I got Zelda on the Wii VC for example. Why should I buy it AGAIN on the 3DS and Wii U (for off TV play) while I buy Final Fantasy 7 on PS3 and I can play it immediately on PSP and Vita (in which Sony created a brand new emulator)?
I have written about gaming prices and availability of videogames in the European region in the past. Especially for Nintendo there is a big pricing probem due to Nintendo's stupid decision not to set the price in the region. Wii U basic cost at launch 319 euros at most European countries while the price arized to 400+ euros in some countries while the mean salary may be 600 euros for young adults. Yet Vita is 249 and PS4 400 in most counties however they are also overpriced in a minority of countries.
Also Playstation games are translated in most European languages while Nintendo does hot do that. The last of us has Greek subtitles while the recent god of war game has Greek voice overs. This is a plus to many people.
We should talk about how Nintendo games and the 3DS in particular appeal to adults and older gamers. This is more interesting I think. However where I live I think that kids prefer tablets for a variety of reasons.
IOS may be gone in some time but I think tablets will remain popular.
@bigtig Sorry but the day 3D and motion controls become the future of gaming I will quit gaming. 3D gives me headaches! Seriously PS3 tried with 3D and failed, the 3D is not even the selling point of 3DS. Also even Nintendo is not in motion controls that much nowadays and PS Move, even though PS4 supports it, has few games. I have no idea about kinetic though.
@element187 OK thanks for clearing this up. So the bad ports are due to the GPU optimization not due to different CPU architecture. I doubt about the 60fps on full HD though. Vita and PS3 can easily do this on 2D games so Wii U should do as well but I am not sure if this is the case with massive 3D games. Even PS4 might not be this powerful.
I agree with the points mentioned in the article. However I think that PS4 and X1 are not as "the same" as described. For example PS4 has Vita Remote Play (a major selling point to those that already have the portable) while x1 has this TV think. And each of them has its own exclusives.
Wii had a fairly good 3rd party exclusive games like Resident Evil Chronicle series (I paid 50 euros each and played an inferior version since there is an HD port in psn). However the best were the 3 rpgs that were released when even nobody except Nintendo of Europe cared about the Wii. Wii was a commercial success but I am not really sure that hardcore games like Xenoblade sold well.
As for Wii U...the only game I will surely buy is X. What I find troubling and annoying is that even in Japan it has little support.
From the games mentioned I have resident evil 2 and bayonetta. I like them both although I think that RE2 is the weakest title on the popular series. 3DS can't handle a 3D bayonetta game though. He may go with something like mirror of fate on 3DS or go on Vita. Surely though I will get bayonetta 2 on the wii u sometime in the future.
I am tired of all this Zelda, Pokémon, Mario and Donkey Kong. Nintendo has resources and experience to create something new and good. Latest installments where not for me.
@Cohort I haven't played FIFA since 2005 but I don't think that FIFA 13 would sell more than 15 million copies if it was just a license game, it is obviously a good game that football fans like it. Critics for the PS3 version were good. Wii, Wii U, PS2 and Vita version had some criticism of being just roster updates while PSP had a roster update with a bit new features like 360 dribble but those sales are the minority of the 15 million ones because probably most sales were on PS3,X360.
Also Champion's League and Europa League (that are very popular in Europe) are licensed in Pro (which is the football game I prefer).
As for Need for Speed it is common for big publishers to own multiple developer teams.
What I don't get is why EA gathers a lot of hate, takes "rewards" like worst company of the year and in the end most of EA games sell a lot.
FIFA and Need for Speed are some of the most popular games.
As far as Wii U is concerned if you have both Wii U and PS3 there is no way you should buy EA games on Wii U. PS3 version are cheaper or free on Plus and have all DLC available. For example Mass Effect 3 was 60 euros on Wii U while on PS3 Mass Effect Trilogy was 60 euros and one month later ME3 was free on Plus.
However it seems that EA abandoned the Wii U and also tries to "abandon" PS4 by offering more complete versions of its games on X1.
This is rip-off, I gave 50 euros for an inferior version and there is an HD port only some months later. I guess no one bought it, just like what happened with Revelations. Do 3DS gamers don't like these kind of games? I wonder how "mature" games like SMT4 have sold on 3DS outside Japan. They may end up on PS3 too. I guess I will wait before buy some game like this on 3DS again. This is the second time (after Revelations) that I spend 50 euros and play the inferior version.
They ruined Castlevania by turning it into a god of war clone that was fun but had nothing from Castlevania in. They should't do the same to Contra.
By the way Contra 4 for some stupid reason was never released in Europe even though the series is popular here. I would buy it even if it was called Probotector 4!
@Rafie There is no plus discount on Europe but anyway 13.49 euros is still OK. In fact I have already pre-ordered it. And the trophies is a nice bonus. Too bad there is not this system on the Wii U.
Motorstorm RC is a great and challenging top racer. As far as older titles are concerned micromachines was very fun. I have tried TNT (was it on PSP or PS3 ?) but I don't really remember it.
@Peach64 Well said. As stated by some friends in the comments only hardcore Nintendo and gaming fans watch the Directs. Most people don't know what a Wii U is or what Nintendo Directs are yet all know that PS4 and X1 are coming.
This is the definition of bad marketing. Directs are good for fans but are not going to attract new customers.
Now as EU directs are concerned they are funny to watch but the presenters are not that fluent with English

Re: Metroid Prime Trilogy Now Available At GameStop For $84.99
Do I profit if I buy one from the bin here for ~10 euros and sell it to them Or maybe buy and resell more and preorder a PS4 afterwards
Re: Exclusive: Pure Chess eShop Releases To Feature Cross-Platform Multiplayer
I have both games on Vita and they are highly recommended !
Re: Dave Cox - A New Contra Has "To Have a New Idea"
They ruined Castlevania by turning it into a god of war clone that was fun but had nothing from Castlevania in. They should't do the same to Contra.
By the way Contra 4 for some stupid reason was never released in Europe even though the series is popular here. I would buy it even if it was called Probotector 4!
Re: Nintendo Download: 15th August (Europe)
@Rafie There is no plus discount on Europe but anyway 13.49 euros is still OK. In fact I have already pre-ordered it. And the trophies is a nice bonus. Too bad there is not this system on the Wii U.
Re: Nintendo Download: 15th August (Europe)
Ducktales in Wii U is 14.99 euros while in PS3 is 13.49. Wow...
Re: TNT Racers: Nitro Machines Edition Screeching into The Wii U eShop Next Month
Motorstorm RC is a great and challenging top racer. As far as older titles are concerned micromachines was very fun. I have tried TNT (was it on PSP or PS3 ?) but I don't really remember it.
Re: Talking Point: The Wonderful 101 Direct and Demo Set the Standard for Wii U Marketing
