Re: Opinion: Steam Deck Fans Are Seriously Underestimating The Switch 2

belmont

You don't need the Steam Deck dock, you can use any cheap type c adaptor. Also the ergonomics of the Steam Deck are the best in handheld space. The Switch is a bit uncomfortable for longer sessions.

However, in the end of the day it it about the games. I am not that much in Nintendo games those days thus making the Switch a bit irrelevant. Also, I am a huge final fantasy fan. I can play all games, except 16, flawlessly in the Steam Deck. Also, Steam Deck is a PC, you can run emulators easily and do light work in it.

Re: Review: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind (Switch) - The Mightiest Morphin Ever

belmont

@Mach_Rider I am also a huge Power Ranger fan and I couldn't summarize the game better. The zord stages are frustrating even in easy. Also, I am not sure how continues work in those stages. I seemingly start from the beginning in those stages if I lose all my lifes which makes the system redundant.

@Sylamp I can confirm that the issue is present in the Steam Deck but, at least for me, it doesn't always happen.

Re: Oh Dear, Contra: Operation Galuga's Physical Edition Is A Download Code In A Box

belmont

@Addcam_DX The physical version may become obsolete anytime the publisher chooses to close a digital service if you haven't already downloaded the update. And I personally care more about gaming preservation in general not collecting something that may be valuable to sell in the future or having something to display.

And my argument only stands from the PS4 generation and onwards. In the PS3 generation the only game I am aware to be broken is Silent Hill HD Collection. There are games that have not all DLC in disk like FF13-2 or Lords of Shadow but rarely you loose lore in those cases.

I have a ton of retro games but in the PS4 I mostly got "game of the year" or collections etc that are most likely to have all DLC and most patches on disk. There are many cases that can prove that physical media from this generation and onwards are semi obsolete. I already game Callisto Protocol as an example. You cannot play this game without updating almost at all. So, in say, 15 years that the servers may have closed you cannot play the game if you haven't the update making the disk useless. There are many more examples.

Re: Oh Dear, Contra: Operation Galuga's Physical Edition Is A Download Code In A Box

belmont

@Addcam_DX I think I am right on this one. Consider three cases, all on PS4
1. Shadow of the Colossus never had any update, you can perfectly play it in a new offline PS4.
2. Final Fantasy 15 Royal Edition, misses the Ardyn DLC, you can perfectly play it in a new offline PS4 but you will miss crucial parts of the lore thus you will have a "glass-half full-half empty" experience.
3. Callisto Protocol, the game is unplayable in a new offline PS4 if you don't update it, it runs at 10fps and crashes in the fourth chapter.

Now, since the new Contra will most likely be constantly updated it may belong in the second or third category, thus making the experience half-baked or semi broken on a new offline Switch, thus making having a physical copy not that enticing.

The fully updated download edition from say, Steam or GOG, is way more easier to preserve in multiple HDDs or Cloud services and will be easily playable in PCs in years to come rather than having to hunt down a semi broken physical copy or a working console. You won't even care if it gets delisted.

Now, if they ever release a physical copy with 100% everything in disk that is the version to buy.

Re: Talking Point: "This Is Only The Beginning" - What Should Konami Do With Metal Gear Next?

belmont

I would like a Vol. 2 with 4, Peace Walker and maybe updated versions for next gen platforms of the 5 duology with Ghost Babel, Portable Oops and Acid as the bonus games. However, PO and the Acid games are highly unlikely to come since I don't see Konami making a PSP emulator and they can't license Sony's like they did in Castlevania Requim if they want the games available in all platforms.

To be honest I don't get why a new director couldn't take a shot on a brand new Metal Gear whether it would be to complete the unfinished Phantom Pain or try a reboot. All long running series change development teams.

Re: Konami Calls On Snake's OG Voice Actor To Promote New Metal Gear Solid Legacy Video Series

belmont

@Vyacheslav333 The collection includes Japanese and other languages as optional downloads.

That said I never liked to play or watch something and not understand what those talk say. As for Hayter it is good to have him back. I think Sutherland was very good but he only speaks very little. I kind of get it from a story perspective but most of time Snake just stands there and lets Ocelot or Kaz to talk.

Re: Castlevania: Nocturne Gets Main Trailer Ahead Of Netflix Launch This Month

belmont

As you can probably guess I am a huge Castlevania fan.

That said my opinion on the first series was kind of mixed. It was meh, the ending was bad, the setting was not that close to medieval Europe, or the games and the characters behaved differently and surely talked differently from what you expected. Still, it had some cool action scenes that semi reminded you of set pieces from the game.

From the trailer the new series seems more of the same which is either good or bad, depending on your opinion on the previous series.

Re: The GameCube And Wii Emulator Dolphin Is No Longer Coming To Steam

belmont

@glaemay Everyone is asking for a Gamecube emulator and games because this is a Nintendo site. Moreover, most PS2 classics are or will be available in modern platforms.
@CharlieGirl Yeah, I never got why they did this. If you are into emulation you know how to set up an emulator in PC or Steam Deck. They basically put a target in their backs gathering unnecessary attention from Nintendo. I guess they thought they could get away with it since Retroarch is on Steam for some reason.

Re: Sonic Fans Are Already Really Mad About Sonic Origins Plus

belmont

I already have the game, preorder arrived early. The stuff stated at the article are correct.

By the way the Plus content is a code in the box, it is not included in the disk, at least in the PS4 version that I have. It still is cross buy with the PS5 version.

I personally find running around as Amy very cool and I am a Game Gear fan so the plus content is worth it but I don't like it when the physical copies don't have all content and patches included. Still, this game and Mania are the only games that I got 7 (!) days before the official release date...

Re: Sonic Origins Plus Physical Listing Says New Content Is "Downloadable Via Included Code"

belmont

Physical games don't exist any more. Even if the Game Gear games were in the disk they game would probably miss some updates etc. Also, SEGA will most likely add Sonic 3D, Sonic Spinball and possibly Knuckles' Chaotix and the Master System versions and may offer a Sonic Origins Complete physical.

I have three physical versions of FF15 and no version has the full game. From the PS4 era and beyond physical versions are obsolete and bad for game preservation.

Edit: As others mentioned SEGA probably had the disks ready from when the first version was released and held back to release a move complete package with more value. Also, the 10 euro update won't be up for preorder. I guess you can buy the physical version and use the Game Gear download code for the digital version.

Re: Random: Sony's Upcoming 'Project Q' Is A Little More Wii U Than Switch

belmont

This article makes no sense. The Project Q is nothing like the Wii U or the Vita remote play. The Wii U uses propetarely connection for lag free gaming. The Vita could also use something similar, the WiFi connection was optional and needed only when the Vita and the PS4 did not face each other. I played both of them with no WiFi in the house. In fact you don't even need an internal connection at all!

Re: Switch Hardware Sales Now Over 125 Million, PS2, Nintendo DS Target Still A Way Off

belmont

You cannot easily compare hardware sales of portable systems to home systems, the portable is a more personal device in a house, like a mobile phone, for example. I think many have more than one Switch, I have a launch model and a Lite one. It is true that I also have two PS2s but I bought the second because the first had hardware issues, there is no way I would get a second one. Also, you could say that some people might have both a PS4 and a PS4 Pro but I think it is way more common to have only one. And don't get me started on the DS. I have one of each major iteration of the thing!

Re: Sonic Origins Plus Reportedly Out In June, Adds Amy Rose And 12 Game Gear Games

belmont

I love the Game Gear Sonic games and they are a cool addition. However, you would think that the Mega Drive versions of Spinball and 3D would be added first.

@Banjo- The Game Gear games are identical, content wise, with the Master System games. However, in Game Gear the games' screen was zoomed thus making them more difficult and adding "leap of faith" situations. Also, some auto scroll stages are slightly different. I think that they will add both versions but advertise the Game Gear since it was more popular in all regions, except Europe and Brazil maybe.

Re: Best Atelier Games On Nintendo Switch

belmont

I randomly bought Atelier Rorona, the original not DX version, for my PS3 in the bargain bin a lot of years ago and fell in love with the series. I had the Iris trilogy in the PS2 but those games were somewhat different. Since then I have played all the atelier games and I have the platinum trophy in all except Ayesha DX and Sophie 2. I am waiting to play Ryza 3 later this week!
