Re: Review: Pokémon Sun and Moon (3DS)

belmont

To add to the discussion: Pokebank is good IMHO. It is somewhat slow but it works to mass trade characters from any 3ds game to any 3ds game. There some downsides though. You cannot evolve pokemon that evolve through trading and (this is very strange) the Pokemon cannot hold items in the bank. I understant not having Key Items or HMs but why can't they have Megastones or Master balls? It is not that they glitch the game or anything...

Re: Review: Pokémon Sun and Moon (3DS)

belmont

From what I have seen so far those games suffer from the same problems that XYORAS have. The graphics look like a pixelated mess. They are not ugly but there are not good either. Also everything is super slow: the dialogue (even in fast settings), animations at the beginning and end of battles and more, the frame rate is very bad. Also there is this National Dex thing that is the biggest problem to be honest that strays from the "got to catch them all" formula. I suppose Sun/Moon have only 31 boxes too that by no means are not even enough to store all characters (including variations) in the cart.

Re: The Xbox One Now Has A Nintendo 64 Emulator

belmont

@mikegamer @Utena-mobile It is not only you, I think most Wii U emulators suffer from poor performance on some areas in order to give us "authentic feel". N64 is the worst one. I still find it bizarre that I can't stretch the image full screen on TV or on the Gamepad. The color problem is there somewhat on the GBA emulator also. In this point I don't think the emulators will be updated nor that we will see many more Wii VC games updated for Wii U (like Final Fantasy for example).

Re: Talking Point: The Viral Reaction to Pokémon GO is a Surprise Gift for Nintendo

belmont

However someone could argue that if you play pokemon go for free then why spend money to buy a 3DS or an NX and a proper pokemon game like X or Moon for example. The average consumer or parent they may want to target may not be completely aware of the difference. And it many have told it to me recently: "I play games on my tablet for free why spend 200 euros to buy a Vita and 40 to buy a game?". It is hard to persuade them that Vita and 3DS have actual games and gaming fans already have one or both of them.

Re: Editorial: Nintendo NX in Multiple Form Factors Could Shake Up the Video Game Industry

belmont

@hepgius Sometimes ago along with some friends we speculated that NX may be a Steam machine but with a Nintendo app that works like Steam only it has Nintendo games, the whole Virtua Console games and Wii U games giving you for free whatever is linked in your NNID. This effectively defeats the third party problem and the Nintendo app could be available on PC and even on other consoles as regural app or streaming app.

Of course there in no way this is happening but I understand your points.

Re: A 15 Year Old Patent Shows A Nintendo Phone That Never Was

belmont

@ThanosReXXX I love anime and jrpg games. In fact Final Fantasy is my favourite series. But I still think Headmasters and everything that followed is bad. What happened to both Convoys had well no reason to happen. I guess I didn't like their treatment to the 3 Autobot iconic characters.

Re: A 15 Year Old Patent Shows A Nintendo Phone That Never Was

belmont

@ThanosReXXX OK got your point. Both N-Gage and Xperia Play, despite their failures, were somewhat good techs for their time but for a lot of reasons failed. A Symbian Nintendo Phone or even a first generation android Nintendo or even a real PSP or PlayStation phone may have changed things.

The problem with Headmasters is how they treated old characters basically putting out of the show with stupid and bad storylines. Also things made no sense even considering that we deal with a Transformers show. For example a certain character survived a plate explosion and was destroyed in an ... iceberg ?!?

Re: A 15 Year Old Patent Shows A Nintendo Phone That Never Was

belmont

@ThanosReXXX I watched recently I was trying to forget the HEAD ON!! Why did you remind me of it? Headmasters was laaaame.

On topic a gaming phone with physical controls might be a good idea but after the moderate success of xperia play I don't see it coming anytime soon.

Re: Talking Point: What Would You Like to See From Pokémon Sun and Moon?

belmont

I want the HM done it is a bad relic from the past. I also want a more interesting storyline like what they did in BW and BW2.

But the biggest problem is some technical things that annoy me. 3DS is supposed to run games like Revelations, Mirror of Fate, Blackgate etc yet 3DS pokemon games look like a pixalated mess. Also the frame rate is bad. 3DS should offer visuals that resemble the anime but I guess I should wait for the eventual successor.

Re: Fans Should Expect "Something New" With Zelda Wii U, Says Eiji Aonuma

belmont

Obviously not everyone that has ever played Zelda games reads the NL comments but a poll on the site about the voice acting may be a good idea (to some extend). I am not so sure that the minority is those who want voice acting. The problem with the dialogue with me with the previous games was that it showed way slow (a common problem in older games of this kind) Sorry @Maxz if it sound annoying.

I still think that Zelda needs some kind of modernization. I don't like to give an example because I am not sure what changes are needed (although I like the transition of Metal Gear and of Final Fantasy to some extend). Maybe something plot-wise...

Re: Fans Should Expect "Something New" With Zelda Wii U, Says Eiji Aonuma

belmont

I thought I was the only one who wanted voice acting in Zelda. The series have stalled in the 90's for some reason. SS had this annoying bibib and veryyyyy slow speech bubbles. The presentation needs some modernisation too. The 3DS game introduced some good ideas, even though I didn't like some aspects of it. I really look forward to the next game.

Re: Poll: Vote for Your Favourite Legend of Zelda Games - 30th Anniversary Edition

belmont

In my opinion Link's Awakening is by far the best Zelda game and one of my favourite game of all time. There is a variety of reasons mostly due to the setting. You are almost alone in an uncharted island that the role you play is not clear. The whole actions of the mean character are questionable and the ending is left to interpretation of the player. The game clearly felt like an adventure from a fairy tale. The game still suffers from the slow as hell dialogue and stupid bibib sounds though (man I really hate those and they are in a lot of Zelda games).

For my second game I voted Majora's Mask for somewhat the same reasons, although I don't like it that much. As for the worst Zelda game is Wind Waker or Minish Cap due to strange gameplay choices (endless sea, caps etc) and boring story. I am also not fan of the DS games. Never liked the controls.

Re: 3DS to Continue as a 'Major Pillar' of Nintendo's Business

belmont

@Yorumi Yes I have seen it but I have a high capacity SP battery. I wanted to order the kit and try to do the mod myself though.

@Xenocity That is what I thought. So, since I was planning on getting a bigger card anyway, I invested on a better/faster card and I saw no difference. I have a lot of games installed but my Sony handhelds have about the same or more and don't have this problem.

Re: 3DS to Continue as a 'Major Pillar' of Nintendo's Business

belmont

I love my 3DS (even though I consider the Vita better). It has great games for me like the Layton, Ace Attorney, Tales of Abyss, Resident Evil, former favourite Game Gear and Game Boy games but to tell the truth 3DS seemed underpowered and dated back in the release date. The OS is super slow, everything takes forever to load, 3D is unpractical and useless. I got a New 3DS and most of those problems were somewhat addressed (although the OS is still somewhat slow). The JRPG games that will come are still welcome to me but it is time to move on. I would want a new pure and maybe BC handheld with no gimmicks, like a two screen handheld more powerful than the Vita.

And it is obvious that nobody believes Nintendo. After they release what they develop now they will abandon the 3DS (and maybe the Wii U too) leaving indies and jrpg companies to publish games for it. Not that it bothers me much since I enjoy these types of games more than some first party games but that is irrelevant.

Since the GBA was mentioned it was a great handheld. I spend many hours in the likes of the various Final Fantasy, Phantasy Star, Sonic, Golden Sun and Castlevania games. Actually I was thinking to track a newer SP model that had a limited release in EU that has a backlit screen and relive some games I have since the first Game Boy (why GB 3DS VC was abandoned is still a mystery to me)

Re: Feature: Five Key Details That May Emerge From Nintendo's Financial Reports and Briefings

belmont

@Lebon14 It is not that simple. Where I live Nintendo is practically non existent. So I just buy from the UK store. If I mail or call them it is not easy to explain what happened.

As for 3DS GBA emulation I clearly don't understand how they screwed them. They ran bad, sleep doesn't work even some colors are wrong. Not that their other emulators are better. I still don't get the reason there is no full screen mode. Yet some homebrew developers, without proper hardware knowledge, make better emulators.

Re: Eiji Aonuma on the Idea of Giving Link a Voice

belmont

To me this "silent protagonist in order to be your avatar" seemed lame even back at the 90's. Other games like final fantasy and Metal Gear gave the protagonist personality and actually helped the player to feel for them. So I want Link to talk.

Also this strange thing of slowly showing speech lines should have been gone and replaced with real voice acting since GameCube days. Why they are so slow and have this bibib sound? In Skyward it was very annoying.

Re: Hardware Classics: Sega Game Gear

belmont

I love the Game Gear. I even have the TV Turner. My favourite games include Sonic, Wonder Boy, Mortal Kombat and many more. Too bad the Game Gear 3DS VC was short lived.

Of the two original Game Gear units I have the one has no sound while the second one has a faulty screen. Sort of bad luck. I may check the mod screen.

Re: Rumour: The eShop is Opening Up in More European Countries Soon

belmont

If someone lives in the above countries and buys Nintendo games probably have just already chosen UK as region as I did ages ago. It may be useful for those that have credit cards that don't work in the UK for some reason.

By the way in some of those countries videogames are way expensive.

Re: Final Fantasy's Cloud Is Set To Cause Some Strife In Super Smash Bros. On Wii U And 3DS

belmont

The point I think is that I (or someone like me) that never played or watched a smash game (even though I have a lot of rpg, adventure and vc games for my 3DS) the inclusion of a fan favourite character made me check reviews and videos from a game that seemed meh to me. Obviously I may never go on and buy the game but some others maybe. The audience may be small but there is some.

There was some interest trolling. "PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale for Wii U", "Browser on the FF7 remake for PS4", "Characters of Last Guardian will make the debut on Smash" were one of the best quotes I found.
