Funny how this update came in the middle of me trying out the game for the first time (I love it, BTW).

Xenoblade 3: Future Redeemed

Rex is the ultimate gigachad.

I'll believe it when I see it. Save Gatling Pea's return in PVZ2, I've been disappointed by the handling of this franchise since BFN's release. The series peaked with 1 (console version), 2, and GW2.

Yeah, after just finishing Xenoblade 3 (with, you know, THAT photo), this statement ain't gonna cut it.

First off, Bananza in first is insane, and I'm genuinely intrigued by it now.

Second, DK'94 and DKC2 should be lower and DKC3 and DKJB should be higher. I found the former two heavily overrated by nostalgia (though both still have their merits) while I found the latter two actually quite fun.

@9_10DOH64 not counting DK'94, DK has ELEVEN 2D platformers in comparison to two 3D platformers. I think this is a fair trade-off.

@Anachronism if I'm being honest, 1's ending didn't exactly set a high bar to begin with. Oh, it was good, but it also (to me) felt like they planned on expanding the world from the beginning. Melia looks in the direction of the Bionis ruins, foreshadowing Future Connected, and Shulk mentions how he can't wait to meet the new world's people, foreshadowing 3 and Future Redeemed. Tbh, I've seen more conclusive endings in Mario and Kirby games (esp. Galaxy and Star Allies). Therefore, imo, Xenoblade expanding its lore is a good thing.

Gonna go ahead and say that I might actually prefer base 2 over Torna, for a couple reasons. For one, base 2's cast was more likeable and in depth for me, and I actually really liked the humor. For another, Torna's community system is the worst thing I have ever seen in an RPG (like, Temple of the Ocean King bad). No game should ever have you put up with that, especially since you've already had time to spend with the people of Torna, making it worthless. It got so bad that I stopped after making Lora a Tornan Knight and just watched the rest of Torna's cutscenes on YouTube (something I have never done with any other game). Yes, Torna's mechanics cannot be understated, but looking back, base 2 was just overall better, even without Nia.

Finished Xenoblade 2 (amazing, BTW), so back to Pikmin until Xenoblade 3 gets here.

Finally, after all these years, the FBI actually does something worthwhile. I guess that's what happens when you're not trying to protect your name on. . .THAT list.

@Fiergala you make a lot of fair points, though I've seen footage of Engage's gameplay (I also don't have it yet), and it looks fun. And yeah, the story is stupid, but it kinda has that Shark Tale/Bee Movie appeal where it's so laughably stupid that it's almost worth it.

@WiiHawk that depends on who you're asking. For instance, I actually liked the gameplay of FE11 and FE15 (the two DS remakes) when everyone else didn't.

I genuinely believe Wind Waker and FE9 are the best games on the system, with GX a close third. Sunshine can go take a hike, though.

In all seriousness, I would rather have the first NSMB game. U's soundtrack is one of the worst in the mainline Mario series.

None, because I haven't played anything past Echoes of Wisdom, but I'll let you know when I get a Switch 2 (or XCX DE, whichever comes first).

Finally, FINALLY got to Xenoblade.

No spoilers, but Chapters 11-13 were just. . .wow.

Only Wooly World grabbed me. The rest were just ok, including the original Yoshi's Island (enemy spam central).

@Erigen New Island wasn't that bad. For the most part, it was calm bassa nova with the occasional kazoo. I even have Bandit Valley on my Top 1000 playlist.

Actually, I think WW GCN is better than WWHD. I don't like the bloom, the Tingle Tuner being replaced with a dumb Miiverse feature that no longer works is, well, dumb, and I didn't mind the slow sailing or Triforce quest.

I say all of this as someone who usually prefers the rerelease of a given game (i.e. Skyward Sword HD).

Finally hopping on that Pikmin train with the first game. Also Samus Returns. That too.

And Double Dash having better music? GameCube games in general had mediocre soundfonts imo (save Metroid Prime and Kirby Air Ride), and even the remixes are just kinda ok.

@DaGoldenBoo a version of 2 with the updates 3 got would still be worse than 3 is now. 2 has the worst meta and slowest gameplay of the three, largely in part because of its shooter bias and dog water special design. It also has the worst net code and the weakest base single player. Outside of Octo Expansion, I've avoided 2 like the plague ever since I got 3.
