@OctoCallie20 this comment is pure cringe. Big Man was the only likeable one of the group and the only likeable Splatoon idol since the Squid Sisters, and it's not even because of his meme status.
LA2019. it's the game that convinced me to expand my horizons beyond Mario, even though it's a remake. In fact, it's my second favorite game of all time behind Mario Galaxy.
I hate to say it, but while I know this soundtrack is iconic, I actually hate it in its original form and vastly prefer the remixes of every track in this game.
@Lizardkingy being the first to do something shouldn't automatically give it bonus points, especially if other games did it better. I respect Mario 64, more than Mario 3, even, and I enjoy it a lot, but admittedly, Wonder is a better game for me.
That's great, but I already have the 1968 Ford Mustang build from a few years ago (plus a 2020 GT500 for good measure), and the Hotwheels Mariokart toys do a good job of displaying my love for the series, so. . .I'm good.
In what world is Mario Wii better than Mario 3D Land? Wii us one of the most boring platformers I've ever played. As for 3D Land, I would even put it above Sunshine. Sunshine really wasn't that great for me, either.
@DonutPie Climax is basically GP Legend with different (though still good) controls, different tracks, a better OST (with actual percussion and bass), and a track editor. It's on par with GP Legend.
You're not missing much with Maximum Velocity, though, outside a few of the songs.
If you're reading this, this game is actually worth getting for one big reason: compatibility with New Leaf's Welcome Amiibo update. This will allow you to transfer save date from HHD to New Leaf via the cards you use for both games.
As someone who genuinely thinks Links Awakening is a 10/10, this game was fine. It was compelling at first, but got way too tedious toward the end. I didn't even finish it, honestly. It's nothing more than an 8/10 to me, and that's probably being generous.
@Steel76 the minis were fine, at least in the first Mario Vs. DK. I can't vouch for the following entries, but those levels in the GBA game (and its remake) were fine.
Tbh, though, I don't want another one of these. Nintendo has enough 2D platforming franchises as is, and I'd rather they put effort into a 6th Wario Land than something the community is just gonna bounce off of.
As someone who grinded a ton of Angry Birds in my younger years (as in, before I got a 3DS younger years). . .Goldeneye is the only one on that podium that deserves the honor. I had more fun with that than I ever did with any Angry Birds game.
DK94 was good, but I think it's a bit overrated. It got very tedious in the later worlds, to the point where I didn't even finish it. Still worth playing, though.
@DTFaux the mere fact that you still consider him a "convicted" felon (the jury that convicted him was literally made up of "yes" men) tells me I don't need to say anything other than "have fun lasting in this country for the next four years."
@DTFaux oh, I'm aware of that. Problem is, I don't we would've been much better off with Kamala. People voted for Trump because they were tired of the mess that was the Biden administration. This isn't even the first time this has happened in our country (look up the presidencies of Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, and Ronald Reagan).
Honestly, we did this to ourselves. In fact, we've BEEN doing it to ourselves even before videogames were even a thing, thanks to dogwater government policies in the 60s, 70s, and beyond. In order to heal, our nation needs to suffer.
@Anti-Matter If I told you, you would wash out your eyes, trying to eradicate the forbidden knowledge of dark government secrets before the CIA finds you.
Actually, I think our federal agencies got new heads, so, nevermind, you're fine.
@Bluerangervegeta obviously I didn't do my research, but saying Game Pass still far exceed NSO is laughable. It's far more pricey, and the only reason I would get it is for Halo and Rare. Nothing else Game Pass has to offer ever appealed to me when I had it, not to mention it took up so much space (in comparison to the NSO apps, which are mere specks on a 256 GB SD card). What's worse is that any game on Game Pass is at far more risk of being removed than anything on NSO.
@Tasuki it's the second most faithful remake they've ever done after Ocarina 3D. It only adds, honestly, especially with the soundtrack. Shimoura came back and cooked with this one.
just like the actual game, the soundtrack of A Link Between Worlds was far better. I actually dont like the soundfont of this game's soundtrack, which is just one of numerous issues I had with this game (don't worry, difficulty was not one of them).
@Wisestfool It's genuinely hilarious how people criticized Nintendo for throwing garbage NES and SNES games onto the service, but then when said games get taken down, they criticize Nintendo for doing that.
In all seriousness. . .I dont care. Nintendo will most likely ensure all of their games will be available on future devices, and since I sure dont have an NSO sub for the third parties. . .yeah, I'm good.
besides, if things turn for the worse. . .the apps are downloaded to your device anyway, so one quick hack, and once again, im good.
Ah, early 2017. Back when I was too busy with Minecraft and Lego Dimensions to care about Nintendo. Nowadays, that couldn't be further from the truth, but it makes me look back on years gone by and realize how good I had it back then.
look, i know this is not the greatest news, but. . .Nintendo knows the would get butchered alive if they did this to an actually good game, ESPECIALLY one of their own. I'm not worried about the future.
Yes, Kirby is easy. Yes, Earthbound is extremely simplistic. And yes, Smash Bros was never that great for single player. But in each game this studio pumps out, I see a vision, a charming, cozy world, and a magical adventure so distinctly Nintendo, yet so different from their other outings. Out of all of Nintendos subdivisions, HAL has always been the most consistent, and they have my respect for that.
@Coalescence which would you rather have? Weather effects? Or all the changes made in the 3DS version, plus all content from both previous versions on one card?
Xenoblade 3D had stereoscopic 3D, a music player, and support for the Shulk Amiibo. Does that mean the Switch version, with remastered music, improved visuals, and an extra story, isn't definitive? Is Kirby RTDLD not definitive without Scope Shot?

Re: Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Tops "Best Seller" Chart On Amazon
@OctoCallie20 it sold more on Switch.
Also, due to said remaster, it's now my 2nd favorite Zelda, because it actually gets to the freaking point.

Re: Talking Point: Should We Be Expecting More From Remakes And Remasters?
@LoneHammerBro the fact you assume Nintendo's remakes are done by AI is enough for you to lose all credibility.
Re: Random: Takaya Imamura's Holding Out Hope For A Star Fox Movie
For that, they'd have to make a new game, but. . .y'know,. . .Zero. . .
Re: Best Super Mario Games Of All Time
@MontyCircus yeah, that's what I meant.

Sorry, just had to get that out.
Re: Soapbox: Fire Emblem’s Future May Not Be In Turn-Based Combat
Yeah. . .this is the single worst take I have ever seen on this site. It's not FE at all at that point.
Re: Video: Unboxing The Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & The Blade Of Light Anniversary Edition
I'm extremely late, but here's my view:
Despite how botched this release was, this is the only collector's edition that has ever appealed to me, for two reasons:
1. Currently, it's the only way to legally get FE1 on a Switch, and
2. It's one of the few examples of FE merch in the West alongside amiibo, and I actually like to display my merch.

Re: Best Super Mario Games Of All Time
@AshleyGamer64
1. Galaxy
2. 3D World + Bowsers Fury
3. Wonder
4. New DS (this is probably heavy bias, though)
5. World
It's also worth mentioning that the top two are in my top 5 Nintendo games of all time, currently, while the bottom 3 are still top 25 at least.

@ArcticEcho everything? Including Shadow Dragon DS and Echoes? Yes, I know they're remakes, but still.
Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection 2.0 Update
@JS_Comics because fifth Gen emulation in general is still crappy.
Re: Switch 2 Will Support NFC, According To New FCC Filings
Good. I just bought Blue Yarn Yoshi, and my interest in amiibo will only continue to grow.
Re: Switch 2 Filings Show Support For Wi-Fi 6
At this point, any improvement is a plus, since Nintendo has always (always) had dookie internet connection.
Re: Best Super Smash Bros. Games Of All Time
Brawl is now higher than 64. The world is healing.
Re: Best Animal Crossing Games Of All Time
Yeah, this needs a repost. The scores don't reflect the placements, and Pocket Camp Complete is missing.

Poochy and Yoshi's Wooly World (best Yoshi game imo) and Fire Emblem Blazing Blade.

@the_beaver I know. I was referring to the popular guys.

Makes sense. The big characters for both franchises are blonde dudes with big swords.

Re: Nintendo Places Outside Top 20 In Metacritic's 15th Annual Game Publisher Rankings
First off, how is Nintendo lower than they were in 2016? That was their worst year ever, even taking FE Fates and TPHD into account.
Second, I know 2024 was still an average year for Nintendo, but outside of them and SEGA, I smell heavy corporate bias in this ranking.

@Soren except for GX HD, you, sir are a prophet.
Too bad the proper Fire Emblem (Engage) proved why Awakening and Three Houses worked so well
Re: Nintendo Begins Mario Day Celebrations With Free Switch Online Trial (US)
You will never see Xbox do this with Game Pass. Props to Ninty for this.

Bold of you to assume there will be a PS6.
