Pretty sure we won't know which direct will unveil the next Switch... Until somebody notices: hey, why haven't they followed the announcement with their usual "no mention of the successor" tweet?!
I have played for like 8 hours, completed the first island and started the second. I'd say, I never expected a tactical rpg to interest me, but here we are. Good thing it is simple.
The what? How can you take sheet music down unless it was straight pulled from Nintendo? It's the same as targeting nintendo music played by individuals.
I feel like there's some part of this story unreported. Like, music sheets on that website cost $5-10 each, so maybe it was not made clear they don't come from Nintendo, or anything like that.
So these guys are doing a Thunderful (of "SteamWorld") thing: first a golf game with "Golf Club Wasteland", then a platformer with "The Cub", now a... SRPG? Farming? Idk. All set I believe in the same universe, same art style, with great radio tunes in the background.
So in the past week we've learned: 1) no big third-party games on Switch in 2024; 2) no big pokemon game in 2024. This all points clearly towards Switch 2 in early 2025. And that we all have a year to tackle the backlog.
Guys. Tents and Trees, and hexceed. Two puzzle games that will pull you in for weeks. Especially Tents and Trees, everything in it is a joy, from touch-screen controls to little animations to music.
I know a lot of time have passed, but I'm playing LiS right now for the first time ever, and presentation issues and long loading times are nothing: it's like complaining an old movie is black-and-white. Loading times actually give more time to enjoy the music.
I'd accept the absense of backwards compatibility — but in this case, I'm immediately buying an OLED switch 1, while postponing the 2 for a couple years.
From their official website: "This means adding two tracks recently added to the PC version (“Barber of Seville” and “Down by the Riverside”), the ability to “engoldenate” cards, and the Trombone Customizer that allows players to create customized trombones. We’d also like to push some of the recent QoL improvements from the PC version to the Switch, such as the ability to set track volume and the improved “missed the gap” logic." (these are plans, not the update description, but at least it lists the songs)
This is great, and full reports on their site are very thorough. One thing that looks missing is negative accessibility features. Like, if I'm partially blind or hard-of-hearing, what obstacles will I encounter?

Re: Soapbox: Why I Love A Good Map, And That Time I Mapped Yoshi's Melons For Nintendo Power
This reminded me, last year I did a talk at a big mapping conference. About in-game maps. Using Nintendo Switch instead of slide deck. Went well

Re: Review: The Star Named EOS (Switch) – A Sparkling Puzzler With A Sincere Story
Seven hours! Wouldn't call that short for a indie puzzle game. I'm more used to 2-3 hours frankly.

Re: Nintendo Launches Black Friday Switch eShop Sale, Up To 90% Off (Europe)
Nice. Got "Lost in Random", "Squad 51", and "Kentucky Route Zero" finally.
Was considering also "Spirit & Mouse" and "The Enthropy Centre", but given I don't play anything atm besides Sky and Alan Wake, that'd be too many.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 28th)
Got Alan Wake on sale, that's what I'd do.
