Re: You Can Pre-Order Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu! and Let's Go Eevee! for Switch Already

ThatGirlFinley

$60?! That's a little pricey for me. I know it's not the UK price but still. Since this isn't a mainline Pokémon game I was hoping it might be priced a little lower. Ah well, it can't be helped. I'll probably still pre-order it anyways.

Edit: I'm pretty hyped for Pokémon on the Switch. And this should hold me off until the mainline Pokémon game lands. I'm leaning more towards Let's Go Pikachu at the moment.

Re: Japanese Version Of Resident Evil 7 On Switch Has An English Language Option

ThatGirlFinley

This reminds me of when I got the online "console" and controller and then the service went down forever a few days later. Good times...

I also got a steamlink and then they announced the new apps that make it redundant. It never worked well anyways. Even with it being in the same network asmy computer.

I just don't think we're there yet with cloud gaming or game streaming tech. Ah well. There will always be some company trying to profit off of our hopes.

Re: Video: Adventure Awaits In This Latest Mario Tennis Aces Trailer

ThatGirlFinley

They'll give the tennis game a role-playing, adventure mode while they strip everything away from the Paper Mario games that made them good. Sigh Ah well, it looks fun anyways. Hopefully we see a new Paper Mario game at some stage that takes the series back to its roots. I miss the old N64 game. It had such charm and adventure.

Re: Nintendo Expects To Sell Another 20 Million Switch Consoles This Financial Year

ThatGirlFinley

Nintendo sometimes reminds me of Ash from the Pokémon anime. He wins a few battles and starts to think he's king of the world. Until he loses a big battle and suddenly it's like game over. But if you have faith in him you'll see that he always pulls through and he'll win again soon.

I just hope Nintendo isn't getting overconfident like they did back when the Wii U was a thing. They had an amazing fiscal year but they're going to need something really big to achieve those goals this time.

Re: You've Got Until 9PM GMT Today To Pre-Order Labo If You Want It In Time For Friday

ThatGirlFinley

@1UP_MARIO I honestly believe this is just a matter of where you live and the Postal service used. Amazon have consistently failed to meet the launch day window for pre-orders I've placed and I, as a consequence, have lost a lot of my faith in them when it comes to pre-orders. Whereas the official Nintendo store usually gives me prompt and on-time delivery, including pre-orders.

Re: Rumour: Call Of Duty Might Be Headed To Switch, But Only As A Battle Royale

ThatGirlFinley

It's funny, it's just really funny because the developers are probably thinking "Well players on Nintendo consoles never buy our games so we shouldn't bother putting the effort into giving them a full, proper game like we do for every other console on the market." When it's exactly that reasoning that keeps me from buying their games. If they just put the effort into making a proper game that aligned with every other console version (doesn't have to be as graphically fantastic since I know the switch isn't as powerful) then I'd really consider buying it.

Re: Looks Like Playtonic Is Ready To Reveal Its Next Game

Yooka-Laylee was a good game. It wasn't great but it was good and I had fun playing it. I never finished it though. There were just a bunch of small things I didn't really enjoy that sort of made me lose interest as I played. But I'm sure they are capable of making great games and I look forward to seeing what they come up with next. Maybe the DLC for Yooka-Laylee will make me want to play through it again and finish the game this time.

Re: Random: As The Pokémon Anime Hits 1000 Episodes, One Thing Is Clear: Ash Sucks At Pokémon

ThatGirlFinley

It's a real shame how many people don't understand the significance behind the message Ash sends through his journey, training, wins, losses and the friendships he makes both with people and Pokémon along the way. I suppose it's something that doesn't translate well into words. You just understand it or you don't I guess.

Either way I enjoy the anime 😄

Re: Hacker Praises Nintendo's Switch Security Efforts, But Says Console Is "Completely Compromised"

ThatGirlFinley

@Damo I personally hope that you continue to cover things like this. I'm interested in what hackers are up to with regards to the Switch and indeed other consoles. I myself dabble in modding and creating custom content for games and while I have no intention of hacking my console, I am intrigued by what others are doing. Here's hoping that these hacks don't lead to any form of piracy. I don't wish to see the game creators harmed by this sort of thing. However, I do enjoy homebrew and used to love some of the little games people would make for the Wii back in those days. The head tracking demo was really something special.

Re: The Games Industry Reacts To The White House's Violent Games Showreel

ThatGirlFinley

I've played violent video games even since I was a kid. I'm desensitised to a lot of things and sometimes I make violent or dark humour jokes. I might talk aggressively sometimes too. But I would never act on those words or thoughts of aggression. They're just an expression of anger. I'm a caring and honest person, and I enjoy puzzles, adventure, love and stories just as much as ripping and tearing apart demons in doom for example. I can see the beauty in all types of video games usually, even the ones that people don't really like. It is people that make the decisions to act on violent impulses, thoughts and words. The content in video games, movies and other forms of art might move people, but they never force you to make a decision. Blaming the content detracts from these people's responsibility for their own actions and it's a disgrace.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Year One: A Review

ThatGirlFinley

@SLIGEACH_EIRE
I've had no problems with the D-pad personally but if there is a large portion of people that have one and are suffering from this problem then I'd agree it definitely should be sorted out.

I personally don't need the headphone port but I can understand it being a requested feature. However with the state of the consoles voice chat system I don't think that's really going to happen any time soon.

As for the analogue triggers, I don't think they're necessary at all. Especially since analogue triggers aren't even present on the joycons. Though possibly in a future iteration of the console and a pro controller v2? 🤗

I think the console has had a great year and I've enjoyed a lot of games that have come out for it. Port or not, I prefer having some of those games on my Switch for performance reasons too if not for the true portability. There's a noticeable difference between the performance of Breath of the Wild on the Wii U and on the Switch for example.

Disgaea 5 seems to be a niche game/series but I actually had such a blast with it. That's the first time I've played a Disgaea game and it's made me into a fan for sure.

I played Snipperclips at home in local co-op with various family members and friends and I don't think I've had that much fun since Wii Party or Wii Sports came out. And Mario Odyssey was an adventure I'll never forget. In my opinion it far surpassed Mario 64 and in fact I'd say it even tied with Super Mario Sunshine.

Skyrim is one of the best examples of where the portable nature of the console really shines for me because I've wanted a portable version of Skyrim since it came out. I tried it on streaming services (to my phone/tablet with a Bluetooth controller), tried in-house streaming, nothing worked. But then the Switch came along and just blew me away. It might not be perfect. I miss mod support, and I've had one or two framerate drops but it's still awesome and I've put several hours into it so far while I've commuted to and from work on the bus.

And then the promise of Labo has really got me excited. I know it might not look like much fun to some people, and thusly it might not appeal to all. But to me it looks like something really magical. I can't wait to get my hands on it and see if it lives up to my expectations and I truly hope it does but I don't have any doubts that it will at the moment.

I was disappointed that it didn't have proper voice chat implemented, that it lacked virtual console support and that the online system is still in the works after having been promised several times. But then I realised that I don't even own any of the games that use voice chat 😅 And I've had free access to all of the currently implemented online features this whole time. Features that I could possibly have been made to pay for over all these months. I still miss virtual console but I've got quite a catalogue across my 3DS and Wii U at the moment to keep me going.

My only regret with the system is that I couldn't afford to buy more games with it honestly. There are so many I still want to get my hands on and at the moment Mario & Rabbids as well as Splatoon 2 are at the top of that list. 😄

Also on another note, I've noticed a number of spelling mistakes in this article and strange word choices. Might be worth another proof read. (Unless they're sorted by the time I make this comment anyways) Also I dislike that the article never once makes reference to the console as a hybrid console instead of a handheld console. It's a hybrid, a home system and a handheld and I still don't understand what people don't get about that concept. But that's just me being picky 😅

Lastly Happy Birthday Nintendo Switch! You've gave some hams a severe thrashing in your first year and I have no doubt that with some top contentders in your future you're going to be keeping things awesome for years. (Talking about the metroid and Pokemon games that are in development which this article also doesn't mention. Though I think they might really have helped influence people's decision to purchase the console)
