Nintendo has just released a new trailer for Mario Tennis Aces which showcases the game's Adventure Mode.
In this unique portion of the game you're tasked with rescuing Luigi by taking down Wario and Waluigi via a series of special challenges which put your tennis skills to the test.
You'll face a wide range of enemies and objectives, and as you progress through the mode you can level-up Mario's abilities.
Mario Tennis Aces is out in June. A demo arrives on June 1st.

The tradition of Wario and Waluigi in tennis is back ladies and gentlemen!
I'm guessing they are supposed to be mummies, but honestly they look kinda like dried dog... dooky. It suits them
For the first time ever in years. it's hard on which Nintendo game (Sushi Striker or Tennis Aces) that i will pick because they both look fun.
Looks good but man Luigi can’t cut a break. Give the man his place in the sun
On the bright side, at least Peach wasn't kidnapped for once.
@Mr_Pepperami he would lose a life though, the sun is never happy
Still virtually no new footage - they really don't want to spoil this!
I hope we can play as other characters other than Mario in Story Mode. I like the man, but what if I want to play as Yoshi?
Looks like it could be a great time. Now I just need a good Mario Golf game with lush environments and beautiful looking scenery and I’m all set. Though Mario Party and Strikers are also welcome.
Really wish this was golf instead but if this story mode pans out and is actually good I won't be able to ignore this game anymore. Looks promising so far.
One day Wario and Waluigi will get their dastardly day in the main franchise sun.
Now we just need a MARIO party like the gamecube versions
Man I'm excited for this game if only for this story. I just pray the gimmicks of this game are actually fun because the last couple Mario Tennis game really were not all that fun.
Dark Wario & Waluigi, BWAhahahaha....
Any word yet on a season pass or DLC? I can imagine free ongoing racket skins like in ARMS or Splatoon, or paid DLC characters like SSB or a season pass like Mario + Rabbids with a new playable Luigi's Story.
If on release day there's still no word of paid DLC maybe we'll pick it up.
Story mode has a Subspace Emissary feel, maybe it will be a crossover w/ SSB? Would be interesting if all of their compilation character games had a crossover story mode.
@Octovin I wouldn't be surprised if you start with Mario and unlock other characters to play as.
Side note, poor Luigi! I actually wish this had been the other way around. Have Mario kidnapped and Luigi have to save him.
Is Luigi holding an Infinity Racket?
@DarkSim01
Well, that did happen in Luigi's Mansion. Guess they don't want to tarnish Mario's reputation too much!
@Ooyah Yeah, and Luigi's Mansion is a classic. I just think a spinoff game like Mario Tennis is a perfect opportunity to give someone else the spotlight. Especially after the shafting he got in Odyssey.
@DarkSim01
That is very true, actually, fair point. He was a total after-thought in Odyssey. I feel sorry for him now!
This looks to be leaps and bounds ahead of Ultra Smash. Thank the lord.
REALLY like the look. Eagerly waiting for this to land, adventure mode will be nice and all, but online multiplayer is where the game it's at...
@rjejr Did you forget? From what was shown in the past Direct trailer, any DLC characters and such are obtained by participating in those tourneys. Why would we pay an "entry fee" just to compete for those things?
@Spoony_Tech You must not be a fan of tennis.
@Equinox What would your reaction be if this story turns out to be five times better than the Sonic Forces story(even though that wouldn't be hard, considering how mediocre the plot was)?
P.S: Don't say it, I know it's a bad comparison since they are two completely different games, but I'm putting it out there anyway.
The free trial/demo thing should be out really soon
@N1ntendodo "Why would we pay an "entry fee" just to compete for those things?"
I don't know, I just know a lot of games come with paid DLC these days, and some of them come with free DLC. And Nintendo seems to like to wait until just before a game releases before they announce the paid DLC. So it's possible Ntinedo would have some characters you earn for free in tournaments and some you buy. And as they've shown with both Mario Kart and SSB they are willing to add in non-Mario characters. And with only 15 characters in the game to start that leaves plenty to sell later on and give some away free in torunaments.
And if our rackets are going to break in game and we lose the game if we don't have enough, well I seriously doubt Ntinedo would charge us by the racket, that would be pay-to-win in a $60 game, but they could sell racket skins to put on those extra racket lives.
They also haven't mentioned any amiibo for this game, and most Mario related games do seem to get amiibo - Odyssey, Mario Maker, Mario Party. Mario Sports on 3DS got amibo cards. It's easy fro me to envision a Mario amiibo holding a tennis racket. So I could see them announcing the paid DLC and the amiibo at the same time. Though ti better be soon if there are amiibo, game is out in a month.
Oh, this is the ND video I watched, you may have been referring to a different one.
They'll give the tennis game a role-playing, adventure mode while they strip everything away from the Paper Mario games that made them good. Sigh Ah well, it looks fun anyways. Hopefully we see a new Paper Mario game at some stage that takes the series back to its roots. I miss the old N64 game. It had such charm and adventure.
Only 2 weeks and 3 days to go before we get to play it. Uk test times 3.00 pm Friday 1st June- 23.59 3rd June Sunday can't wait!. And no hourly bs like splatoon testfire result!.
@rjejr Have you not seen the games reveal footage? Nintendo said that the DLC for the game will be free, with new characters being added regularly. I believe they said that you can also win characters and equipment by competing in the online tournaments.
@RAMYERSELL Yep 2 weeks and 3 days to go
@patbacknitro18 Thanks. And no, I didn't know they said that or I wouldn't have asked.
No wait, I probably would have asked anyway, they said no DLC for SSBU and that had about $100 worth of DLC, so I never believe them anyway.
I like your name, reminds me of 1980's Saturday morning wrasslin'
Wario and Waluigi look like statues.
They're takin' "stoned" to a whooole new level.
@rjejr They never said there would be no DLC. All they said was there currently was no plans for DLC at the time and his job was to make the game as fullest as possible. Even in that same interview he said once's it finished he will consider DLC.
@BezBot OK thanks, your reply sounds more based in reality than the other reply I got so I'll go with yours.
I can tell that this game is twice as good as Ultra Smash. That game was pathetic lol! Makes you wonder why they even bothered with that one?
@rjejr In my reply I was talking about SSBU as that is what your previous comment referred too. As for Mario Tennis, there has been no word on DLC, free or paid. And a new series of amiibo have never been announced and released in one month, so you should be safe.
I'm thinking about buying this digitally. The story mode has me intrigued and the replay-ability of the game looks promising. Like others have mentioned, I hope Nintendo has a proper Mario Golf game in the pipeline. I love those games the most. World Tour on 3DS was a lot of fun.
@PALversusNTSC Someone is grumpy. Don't buy a Switch then?
carbage...
i want to see new ip games from nintendo, more new 3rth party games. i can't stand these easy money games from nintendo anymore. why is this company became such cowards anyway.
the switch is succesfull because of botw and mario odyssey, but there has to be more on the switch then this crap and B-indie games.
@Nintendofan83
well i did not have much choice.
i have a 5 year old son.
If a Mario Tennis game can get a Adventure Mode then the next Smash Bros. game should definitely get one this time.I mean Smash Bros. is one of Nintendo's top game franchises that gets all this special attention, detail, and effort and Mario Tennis is about a middle to lower-middle level game series that serves as a spin-off to the main Mario games.
@rjejr Nintendo never said there wouldn't be any DLC. As I said in my reply Nintendo had already said that new characters would be added regularly. And some would be held as prizes for online tournament participation. Also i don't remember them ever denying DLC for Super Smash Brothers WiiU/3DS. Especially since Mewtwo was announced as a reward for anyone who bought both the Wiiu and 3DS version before the game even launched. (Both that and the Soundtracks.)...........God I miss Club Nintendo
@BezBot Ahhh. Well thank you for the clarification of my misunderstanding.
I do think you are right about it being a little late for an amiibo announcement, only E3 being a week before release makes me hesitant to rule it out completely, though I do think it is very unlikely at this point. You know, the way Nintendo handles amiibo it's going to be hard to know when the last ones are, unless they really come out and say - "no more amiibo after this, these are the last ones". Not that I think they are done yet, but it's hard to know, after the SSB line finished there really hasn't been a definable pattern. I do think we'll get more amiibo though. I was surprised Kirby Star Allies didn't get any. I do think Yoshi could get more, even though the last game got them as well. Or maybe Pikmin or Pokemon on Switch when those games are fully announced. But it is probably too late for Mario tennis.
@patbacknitro18 "God I miss Club Nintendo"
You and me both. Maybe they'll start selling Mario Tennis Aces DLC characters for 300 gold points each. I got 60 gold points today from Labo, only another $240 worth of games to go.
Wow, I just realized I got 60 gold points for a $70 retail game, it should have only been about 12 gold points for physical, that's what we got for ARMS. I guess Nintneod values cardboard more than carts. Or maybe just b/c it isn't available digitally. Still I'll take it. Thanks for the Club Nintendo reminder of better days.
@rjejr Referring to you MyNintendo points thing now, they have a new system now in place since March. You are right you got 12 points for the physical version of ARMS, and with the old system you would have gotten 60 points for downloading it. Now, for a $60 physical game, you get 60 points and if you download it you get 300 points. Also you can use gold points as money on the eShop too (1 point = 1 cent). Actually surprised you missed all of this until now. You can see more info at https://my.nintendo.com/about_gold_point
@PALversusNTSC
Garbage what ?!
Pardon of your ignorance, sir.
Nintendo tried their best efforts to keep us entertained, whether from their Older IP's with some better features or Completely New IP's or some 3rd party games from Ports or Indies.
To create a New IP is Not an Easy Job.
They have to spend a lot of times by creating the gameplay concept, finding the resources, set the peoples behind the projects, etc.
By saying Nintendo was a Coward due to NOT Create a New IP just for you, for me it was like an Egoistic attitude for a gamer.
Be Patient !
I'm sure Nintendo will surprise us by their New IP's someday.
The key is patience.
And one more thing....
Don't just depend only on AAA games.
You will have limited choices.
Some of lower class games (AA, A, and lower) are actually have better gameplay than typical AAA games.
Why don't you try those games ?
They are still able to entertain you and your kids.
@BezBot Well I didn't miss it entirely, just somehow missed the gold point change. I knew about the 1c per point, didn't realize they raised the physical purchase. Which I should have known when we registered the physical copy of Kirby Star Allies, but I think I missed it b/c we were too busy playing it. The MyNintnedo points history lists the date of all of my gold point additions, as few as they are, but it doesn't list the game name. It does list if it's physical or digital, so I should be able to figure it out, but we got a bunch of games for Christmas so I wasn't sure which points went to what game, and ARMS in January.
Funny, I just finished asking someone were the MyNintendo Channel or subchannel was in the forums b/c I coudlnt' find one. Maybe if I had I would have figured this out before now.
Thanks again for all your help. Who knows, now with all of those gold points piling up maybe we will get something good to spend them on. Well at least the people who buy digitally should be able to rack up some points in no time. I'm looking at 160 w/ 6 or 7 games on cart. Maybe I forgot more than just Kirby though, I'll check in the morning, maybe it will be a windfall?
The ultimative troll for waluigi fans. Corrupted luigi as new character in the upcoming smash bros.
@BezBot Just wanted to say thanks again. I checked my games and got another 100 gold points today, 60 for Kirby, 40 for Sonic Forces, so I'm up to 260 now. Which would only be $2.60 if I spent it but I'm going to hold out hope that by years end, after the online service kicks in, we'll get some good discounts or DLC to purchase on Switch. I'd take a theme.
Luigi is missing?
It looks great by the way!
