Re: Super Mario Run Now Costs £9.99 To Unlock In The UK

ThatGirlFinley

I'm trying so hard not to say something bad right now. But this angers me, brexit angers me, the leave campaigners and the people that voted leave without realising the full consequences of their actions anger me. This country angers me. This isn't even the start or the end of the price hike trend. It's everywhere. As someone already pointed out it's just £2 but that's a 25% increase. The value of the GBP has plummeted and prices all around are rising to ridiculous and sometimes unaffordable highs. Before the price rise I still felt like we got charged a premium or something for everything in the UK as if we were all rich (especially in Northern Ireland since we were off the mainland and treated like a castaway, unwanted, subsidiary of the UK) but now it's just gotten ridiculous.

[sigh] Rant over. Hopefully we don't see any more price rises. Like the Switch rising to £349.99 or something. That would be horrible. Luckily I'd still have that Amazon pre-order price guarantee though, lol 💀

Re: Poll: A Week On, How Do You Feel About the Nintendo Switch?

ThatGirlFinley

I'm so sick of people saying this has "gimmicky" controls. If you don't like the joy-cons then buy a pro controller and enjoy your "normal" controls. Personally I think the joy-cons have a very nice control scheme and the addition of extra features (beyond what's considered "normal") means that there are even more fun and immersive possibilities for games to take advantage of.

Re: Here's How Dragon Quest Heroes II On Switch Shapes Up Against The PS4 Version

ThatGirlFinley

I'm getting BoTW on the Switch for two reasons. 1 is because it's the only launch title I'm interested in. And 2 is because I want to be able to play it everywhere. I've always dreamed of the day a console released that let me play full console games anywhere and with the Switch it feels like that dream can finally be realised. Now if the game developers will just start supporting it.

Re: Nintendo Of America Wishes Xbox A Happy 15th Birthday

ThatGirlFinley

I loved the Xbox 360 and the Wii and I spent a lot of time on both back when I was a kid. Eventually I sold my Xbox 360 along with its games but I still have fond memories of it.

Looking at the picture for this article had me reminiscing on some of the good old days. I loved Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts and I had tons of fun playing it with my friends.

I'd love to see a port of Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts to the Wii U or even the Switch. Hopefully Yooka-Laylee sates my appetite for a while when it comes out. It looks really hood.

Re: Huge Miitomo Update Promises Direct Messages, Room Customisation And Sidekick Miis

ThatGirlFinley

I'm really not interested in My Nintendo. I remember getting cool merch from Club Nintendo just through buying games for their consoles. That system worked and I figured there'd be more awesome loot to collect and new ways to collect points to claim that loot with in this new My Nintendo system but this is just ridiculous. Now the best thing you can get is a percentage off a game or some tiny picross stuff and other meh rewards.

And people are saying "Yeah but we're lucky they even have a system and oh but they don't have to give you anything." But I mean come on, it just feels like a bad attempt. It feels like it could have been so much grander.

-rant over ^_^; Ranting aside, this Miitomo update looks pretty awesome. Lots of features I had been hoping would be part of the original release so it's cool to see them appearing now

Re: Nintendo Switch to Reportedly Use USB-C for Charging, But Dock May Not Support External Hard Drives

ThatGirlFinley

Wait the charging port is on the bottom of the console? So you couldn't flick the stand out and set it upright on a table and charge it at the same time while you're away from the dock (unless there's a portable dock)?

Also does this mean I'm going to have to awkwardly set the Switch into the dock making sure I have it lined up correctly? That sounds like a bit of a hassle really.

As far as games go and usb hard drives I'm fine without them. Generally I buy console games on disc/cartridge because it's cheaper than buying through the eShop which ALWAYS overprices the games. Just one 128GB card could hold a whole host of indie games and media alongside maybe 2 major 3rd party games.

It's more hassle to sit fiddling around with a usb hard drive then it is to carry a little case with my cartridges in it. God, just imagine trying to sit with the console on your lap and a hard drive without the hard drive falling or sitting at an awkward angle and becoming damaged. It's a nightmare. Not to mention the extra battery drain to power the hard drive the whole time AND the noise (if yours is an average drive like mine). Especially if the console has a fan like people are speculating it does in which case you'll have two sources of noise over your game which would be infuriating. Best keep your headphones on hand in that case.

Re: UK Retailers Optimistic About Nintendo Switch, But Lingering Doubts Remain

ThatGirlFinley

Well the thing that got me annoyed was that the footage wasn't real, it was of games that aren't even in the development stages for the console so really we don't even have an idea of what it can play. We just have an ideal of what it can play and that's never good.

However if it can play games like Skyrim and Breath of the Wild fine then yeah, my next worry is what the battery life will be like outside the house. It needs to be AT LEAST 5 hours of gaming. For me anyways. XD

Re: UK Retailers Optimistic About Nintendo Switch, But Lingering Doubts Remain

ThatGirlFinley

How I long for the day when the world is like it is in the commercials where you see people with their 3DS or Switch or whatever outside or on the train or bus playing games and having fun. Where I live you're not a gamer or you're frowned at and usually made fun of for playing any console or game to do with Nintendo. Nothing Nintendo related sells well here. People just want shooters and e-sports on their Xbox and Playstation.

Though I do admit I have urking questions to be answered by Nintendo about the Switch.

Re: Video: Game Center DX Shows Off The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

ThatGirlFinley

I think people are expecting to see like cities of people, gorons, zoras and roaming traders and stuff like that but this is still just a tiny portion of the map and it seems to be a very far out place full of bokoblins and the odd animal/creature. I mean I'm sure there will be stuff reminiscent of Zora's Domain and Death Mountain, Kakariko Village, etc. somewhere and who knows how the world might change in-game while you play further into it. I doubt it's going to be "follow the hermit", lol

I love the look of the game so far though, everything I've seen just makes me more excited to play it in March, hopefully on my new Nintendo Switch.

Just try to reserve your judgements of the world until you've gotten your hands on the game. You know it's not going to be as cut and dry as it looks. It never is. XD

In regards to the show I didn't have a clue what they were saying the whole way through but I still found myself having fun and laughing with them. It was pretty cool. I loved that bit where they actually called Aonuma to ask how to beat the boss(?), hahaha!

Re: Guide: Everything We Now Know About the Nintendo Switch

ThatGirlFinley

I'm assuming amiibo will be scanned on the back of the console the same way most phones scan nfc tags. I also feel that the screen will be a capacitive touch screen because this would open it up to a lot more games and apps and could also let you type in social fields such as Miiverse which would be handy.

But that's all really just hopeful. We'll just have to see what happens. XD

I'm also hopeful that there will be white and red versions (red would be awesome)

Re: Review: Paper Mario: Color Splash (Wii U)

ThatGirlFinley

This battle system, painting the cards and flicking them is really, REALLY getting annoying. It could be fun if it wasn't so darn tedious but you just keep having to look down, scroll through a mega list, pick some, tap and hold, flick, wait, action command, repeat. And then afterwards what do you get..coins..woo..because there are so many fun items to buy with those coins right guys? Oh wait, it's cards or things. Yay...

And look at all the super fun and charming companions accompanying you on your journey to help you out and make it fun...oh wait it's just huey telling you about that time he told you to press up on the d-pad to talk to him because it's lonely in your pocket. Yeah. So fun.

But harsh feedback aside, I do really like the world. It's got a nice, unique style that's colorful and fun to explore with some nice puzzles thrown in.

Personally I would have given the game maybe a 6/10. But that's just me. I don't know why I can't just accept that they've ruined the franchise and are never going to make it good again. I just don't want to. But I think maybe it's time. Maybe I can find some redemption and forgotten joy in Breath of the Wild when it releases.

Re: Review: Paper Mario: Color Splash (Wii U)

ThatGirlFinley

I just really miss Bombette, Parakarry, Kooper, Goombario, Lady Bow, Watt, Sushie and Lakilester. The item system and all the interesting npcs with an amazing plot and adventure.

Don't get me wrong, I love the sticker system and I think the worlds are kind of cool in Sticker Star and Color Splash seems to be better (haven't gotten my hands on it yet) but I just feel like they don't live up to the original Paper Mario 64 or Super Paper Mario.

Re: Treasurenauts

ThatGirlFinley

Has anyone heard anything about this game at all? I've been pretty excited about it and I just remembered it's existence and thought "hey I wonder if that ever released". Needless to say I'm disappointed to find it hasn't.

Re: Shovel Knight Confirmed for Surprise Role in Yooka-Laylee

ThatGirlFinley

The hype for this game just keeps building and after watching that video it literally multiplied. It looks amazing and Grant Kirkhope as well as the lovely team at Playtonic Games have really brought me back to my childhood with the nostalgic soundtrack and whacky characters. I know I'm going to love this game and I really can't wait to play it. So glad I backed it.

Re: Talking Point: What Approach Should Nintendo Take With Its NX Reveal?

ThatGirlFinley

I can see it now: The Direct goes live the day before Zelda Breath of the Wild releases, announces NX, details, snazzy 3D showreel, hands-on videos, corny jokes and typical Nintendo antics, then the game announcements, Metroid, Star Fox, Pokemon, Zelda, Pikmin, Smash, Mario Kart, Mario Party, Animal Crossing, Splatoon and I can't even be bothered listing 3rd parties all being developed and soon to be released for the system over the next two to six months.

At the end "Out tomorrow alongside The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild along with a special edition Breath of the Wild NX console at a price of just $349. Also play The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on the new Nintendo NX console at these select retailers starting next week. lists some retailers"

I'd eat my fist.
