If you're anything like us, you've almost certainly hungered for a Pokémon game in a shared world, a grand online experience where you can explore, catch and battle with fellow Pokémon trainers. Well, while that hope remains a pipe dream as we wait for the next entry on Switch, the studio that brought you Immortal Redneck could have the next best thing. Say hello to TemTem.
Here's the official synopsis:
Temtem is a massively multiplayer creature collection adventure inspired by Pokémon. Seek adventure at the lovely Airborne Archipelago along your Temtem squad. Catch every Temtem, battle other trainers, customize your house, join a friend's adventure or explore the online living-world.

Due to hit Kickstarter on 29th May, TemTem looks a lot like a proper Pokémon game so, "inspired by," might be something of an understatement, but we're still tentatively optimistic for what the Madrid studio is going to pull out of the bag come the end of May. Let's just hope that direct Pokémon inspiration turns into a Nintendo Switch version.
What do you make of TemTem? Is it a blatant rip-off or the first glimpse of something special? Share your thoughts below...

...TemTem does what Nintendon't!
Count me in.. this looks awesome!
Well, I'll get it if they make a Switch version. And play real Pokemon on Switch, as well.
Funfact: Did you know that Sushi Striker also has pokemon in it?
Well...
We got at least 3 Pokemon like games :
1. Re:Legend. The monsters are called Magnus.
2. TemTem
3. Sushi Striker
4. Yokai Watch 4
5. Add more games....
I like the art style, but it's going to be very difficult to thrive in the shadow of an actual Pokemon game on Switch. They may have a niche, though, if Nintendo doesn't provide extremely robust online game play for the Switch version. (OTOH, if it does have that it's going to be the killer app that ensures that Nintendo's Online hub will be a massive success from day one.)
The name isn't very catchy, though. TemTem sounds like baby talk.
These developers have some major poke-balls. Not only heavily inspired from Pokemon, but also taking the name of a taxi service!
@Anti-Matter In what way is Sushi Striker anything like Pokemon?

HOW ARE THESE GUYS THE ONES THE FIRST TO FULFIL MY DREAMS BUT NINTENDO AREN'T!? WITH THEIR OWN IP NO LESS! What the hell man!? This is EXACTLY what I've been wanting for Pokemon for ages! This is just insane! How am I supposed to feel about this!? If they come out with a Switch version of this game - I'd buy it instantly.
Oh snap, that IS what I've been wanting in am MMO. I'd snatch it up but o ly on Switch, possibly mobile if it ever came there.
Looks like a fake imitation of Pokémon as opposed to it's own game. D- Try harder.
I was upset UNTIL they admitted that they were copying Pokémon. What bothers me is if they don’t say that and just pretend like it’s their original idea!!
@Anti-Matter Huh, I see what you mean. From what I can tell Sushi Striker has completely different gameplay, but yeah, that does look like a Pokemon evolution line.
Would buy, but doubt it’ll come to Switch (could it even handle an MMO?).
I think the initial gameplay looks promising. The art style they used is actually pretty cool too. I think I would enjoy Pokemon more if it was more open world with other players. It depends on how good Pokemon Switch turns out if I will be interested in this.
@justin233 Considering that both the Vita and mobile can run MMOs, I'm pretty sure the Switch can handle it. Also, Phantasy Star Online 2 is on Switch in Japan.
I'm interested. I'll take a look on kickstarter.
@Warpscar I was referring more to Nintendo's online service, but I guess PSO2 proves it is possible.
I'm one of those people who never backs the Kickstarter but plans to invest when the product is actually available. 😅
Exhibit A: Matthew Taranto's "TOO BAD. WALUIGI TIME."
Hey, those creatures look more inspired than the majority of Pokémon designs in the last couple of generations!
I’ll admit though that the name sounds horrible, both for the game and (especially) for the creatures themselves.
Looks good!
It's going to need it's own gimmick to be worth it. I don't really want a game that's just derivative, it need something to make it stand out as unique
A huge part of the appeal for Pokemon for me at this point is that it is a series that has been a part of my life, pretty much all my life. Something like this totally lacks that appeal and so... pass. Though I would be interested if Pokemon tried something similar.
That name is just horrible and I don't like the sound of the creatures names. I'm not saying I could do better but I just don't like them. Still the gameplay looks great. I just wish we could have something like this but for Pokémon.
Keeping an eye on it
I always figured if Ninty wasn't gonna step up and put out a multiplayer co-op/MMO Pokemon game, someone else would...heck, I think others have already tried, but they were too...copyright-infringing. Here's hoping this one is handled better in that regard.
And if Nintendo doesn't step up to the plate and show something grand and ambitious with the new Pojemon Switch game? I'd throw money at this in a heartbeat. Doesn't sound all that unlikely, either...
@Anti-Matter there's also Monster Crown. It's been successfully funded on Kickstarter. A Switch version is confirmed
