Got this day 1 and it's been a boost to every game I've played for the last number of years.
For those calling it snake oil, you guys could instead look up a YouTube video or two or listen to anyone here who actually has it.
For those saying "they gotta sell them before the switch is gone" ... These are general HDMI devices, the Mclassic works perfectly with PS3, x360 or any system using HDMI output.
But aye as others have said here, plugging this into a setup is not the same as upgrading from a 3050 > 3080 GPU but while the different is subtle it's when you go back and switch the device off you'll be like "oooooo now I see" when you're looking at model edges or stairs flickering, it's just night and day difference.
First shadow man comes to NSO, then legacy of kain remastered! Now we just need a nightmare creatures remake and all the horror games of 1999 that weren't called resident evil will finally get their due praise.
These remasters are kinda cool as well because they play how I remember the originals looking with nostalgia goggles on, but if you actually boot up some of these PS1 games today without a resolution/texture hack via emulation. It's shocking how bad they look especially when you think that today's average screen size is closer to 40 inch when back in CRT land if you had a 32 inch screen you were a gaming God
@Daniel36 seen that trailer. Just shows the weaknesses of AI generation in my opinion. The gorons were impacted pretty badly how they appear twice in the clip but they're completely different looking creatures. Like if you described them to multiple children and then let the kids run off and draw them. Impossible to use a tool which can't remain consistent between shots
My switch is showing a very strange bug since this last big update. If I go into some areas of the menu and wait for them to fully load up it can create a corruption on letters in the menu.
I do think this is only down to the number of games saved on my device though as I've literally hundreds of saves and that menu takes around 2 mins to load in.
@GameName that's wild... Couldn't have anything to do with the fact that the absolute worst area for performance was the lost woods and deku tree area. In any other linear game sure... People would all get to the "bad" area but botw being as open world as it stands you can finish it without going there.
Really hope these 2 get another game or another fresh appearance in the future. Nothing wrong with companies having mascot games. Sonic, Mario, crash, Mr Halo it's really the characters who make gaming what it is.
If people haven't played it, there's a smash clone called Brawlout on switch and other platforms which feature this duo as guest fighters as well as some other cool indie game char like guacamelees main char. It's a good smash clone in my humble opinion.
While more of a good game is obviously a good thing, and games which take inspiration from great games can add to them and expand in other directions (I'm currently playing and loving cassette beasts) I would say this game here goes a bit too close to the original to find it's own feet. Look at those 4 images at the end of this article, the 3 map ones are taken nearly directly from advance wars. It's one thing to say they're just copying pixel tanks... On the a turn based grid system, with COs that give powers.... Also the grid maps? Yeah those are exact copies too.
@NeonPizza I really love ex+alpha but there's almost zero chance of that happening. Have you played "fighting ex layer" on switch, it's by the company who made ex+ with Capcom and it has all their characters in it like Skullomania, D dark, Darun and co. There's even a free (light) version of it on the switch with limited characters and modes but would highly recommend people check it out.
Personally I would instantly buy ultra street fighter 4 if that came to switch. Love that game and still play the 3ds version of it just for some handheld sf4 action even though that version misses a number of the later characters
Yeah... Gotta agree with others here. The original price of these "definitive" versions of the games which aren't the actual best or most complete versions renders all but a 90% off sale pretty uninteresting for myself.
It's been mentioned a few times but the version of 3 and 4 which made it to the ds and I think it was either PSP or vita got them as well, but those 3d modernized versions are great.
How many times has the original been on sale or a part of a humble bundle in the last decade and a half?
Also as others have said.... Isn't this guy a bit of a jerk when it comes to online presence and opinions, don't think that's gonna help your sales in the indie market where fans tend to support nice people.
There really is a lot of faith being put in Sega to treat this game with the respect that it deserves as a great title and the switch with its massive install base deserving a decent port of the remaster. But Sega have shown time and again that hope and nostalgia of their fans are things they simply weaponize for sales and profit.
I hope too, but that hope would never extend to a pre-order, @Ace-Lucario yeah I've completed both the x360 and 3ds versions of generations, both amazing but almost completely different game, except for general story and the zone names.
@BigLarry My digital collection of games is well over 600 titles from this gen, I didn't bother with either Sony or MS machine at all so all my gaming through the lockdown era was done on the Switch or PC. As for Doom Eternal file size, not sure where you're getting the 20gb amount from, I know I'm looking at it here on my Switch games list "33GB"
That does not have the old gods expansion installed either, just the base game.
Gotta say, I chuckled a bit at 1.5tb being the end of all your switch storage woes. I went nearly full digital this generation and my 1.5tb and older 1tb sd card are both very full. Some games like mortal Kombat and doom can eat up a few hundred GB pretty easily.
@eaglebob345 aye, pretty much this. It's honestly not like anyone is short something great to play on the switch at this point there's games on the system to keep me playing for years to come. Rockstar just miss out on selling their hot cakes in a hot shop.
Still can't believe there's so many arcade games ported to switch but my retro fav "Tumble pop" still not seen any love. Love these collections and archival projects though.
@Fiskern they can also probably get some form of tax write off as well for the failure project when it's a planned failure. I know the movie industry has done that a few times recently instead of releasing potential flops.
I think reading the comments here, most people would agree that waiting for a good thing is better than a yearly release of utter forgettable nonsense.
And it's not like there's a shortage of games available to players right now from amazing third party and indie studios to fill in any gaps between the Mario Odyssey s and tears of the kingdom s
If you find a fan made version of a Mario game in the sand at a beach and hold it up to your ear, you can hear the sound of a cease and desist flowing.
@Wisps if I could like a comment more times I would, great run down of what each of these titles gives. I played through the first game last night when I seen these drop and felt some parts were definitely right from the nes games, I'm looking forward to seeing how the lil handheld handles the semi ports and really looking forward to playing 5 after reading your post.
I remember having this on the original Xbox and never getting around to fully playing through it, really cool that so many great games from the PS2/PS3 era are now easier to access than ever. Ironically Nintendo really needs to learn from this how much gamers love old titles they've got locked in the vault.
@Pho from The wiki article on the song you're talking about "In 2002, Johnny Cash covered "Hurt" to commercial and critical acclaim. The related music video is considered one of the greatest of all time by publications such as NME. Reznor praised Cash's interpretation of the song for its "sincerity and meaning", going so far as to say "that song isn't mine anymore"
Trent loved the Cash version so much he considered the song to be belong to the man in black after the cover, would agree with you though, both versions are amazing IMO just a different emotion on display, like with the OG and disturbed versions of sound of silence, one is sad acceptance, the other rage at the situation
Played this for about an hour and it all felt like something I've played before but definitely not in a good way. Just another live services team shooter with nothing unique to it, especially not after 2-3 bot filled hype games to make you feel like a winner the game immediately starts asking for cash and in no small amounts either. It was after a pop up that asked for ten euro for a pack when I tried to click on a menu option that I was done with this and opted out early. Don't waste your time/money or energy on this, it's another game that wants to become your full time job but one that demands money while you work on slight recolours of the base graphics.
As a few others mentioned the game gets decent sales, see it at 9.99 a lot, still though it's great to see Capcom give it's sales some acknowledgement because as long as they're happy that means the non cloud games keep flowing.... Still though, as much as I love this game, I can never see that logo without seeing the giraffe in it
So many people claiming this guy is such a poor innocent man, guys... If it wasn't for people like this hacker then Nintendo systems wouldn't be as locked down to try and prevent what he was profiting for. Also this guy is claiming he sure learned his lesson but email addresses linked to him have been found in the website of a new attempt of piracy of the switch cartridges. If you check "modern vintage gamers" YouTube channel in relation to Gary Bowser, he mvg goes in depth about how Bowser might not have learned anything from his time inside.
@sanqet I think those leaks mostly come from Nintendo digital pre orders being rolled out to modified switch systems. Those pre orders start to download a week before launch and can be dumped from a hacked system.
@Diowine one pretty cool thing with Nintendos digital pre order is that around a week before release date the game will download to your switch and be ready to open at midnight on launch date. Can be handy for larger games like tears of the kingdom was 13gb or so and I'm sure that could take a bit to download for people with slow net connections buying it on launch date.
Had drift on a pair of OG joycons, had it repaired very quickly for free. I know of a few people who have drift issues but never contacted Nintendo for repair but just complain instead and bought new controllers, I mean... If you don't reach out to the free option to fix the issue then they can't really help you.
@dartmonkey chances are the videos the creator of this article are being served up to them by the algorithm so it's not any bias on what gaming channels they want to push (there's hundreds of high quality ones out there) it's just going to be a strangely different looking selection of videos than what someone else's algorithm is feeding them on a daily basis.
Not sure why anyone is wondering about the game that made this guy crazy and pathetic. He was that to begin with, just decided to target that energy at Nintendo and their fans for a bit. Should be charged for the costs of cancellation and the threat to human life. Clowns need to know this stuff doesn't go unpunished.
Would be great if the eshop got some update to block / ignore certain games and developers. One simple change to block red deer games would remove 550+ pieces of shovelware from the eshop searches. It's actually made searching through the sales pretty much impossible since in EU all 500 pieces of their software are on sale all the time.
Fair few of the obscure games missing screenshots.... Or my browser didn't load the article correctly. Would be cool to get an idea of the game style outside of text. I'm 99% I've played and own mercenary force but a screenshot would have given that last percent.
Wait.... But why don't they talk about what the store new releases are full of from indie devs? Where's the logo for
Sprout valley: extended edition Drawing carnival: horror edition Cynthia: ultimate edition Drift legacy: deluxe edition Bowling fever: extended edition Burger chef tycoon: ultimate edition Multi maze 3d : ultimate edition Sherlock purr2 extended edition Cooking arena: 3 in 1 edition Sport and fun swimming: magnificent edition Beauties unveiled: hot edition AAA clock ultimate magnificent edition One night burlesque : premium edition
....
The list sadly goes on, but this is the actual list of games in the recent releases right now, surrounding and burying the real games. Nintendo really need to kick this rubbish off the store reddeer games have 560 titles on switch almost everyone of them is a rerelease of the same shovel ware. Should be permanently banned from submitting games and have their library ejected.
@EarthboundBenjy exactly the same feeling I got here, games like rogue legacy also really have such a better gameplay loop than this. I'm about an hour in and trying to like this but it really feels like the game wants me to hate it lol
Good to hear about the sales number, sad to think that most of the creators of this title were put on the unemployment line when MS acquired the company along with Activision
Gotta say based on the last 2 generations of Xbox system almost every element does not appeal to me, the games, the management team and most of all the userbase.
Has to be one of the most toxic groups in any community, from games online to being so toxic I've seen them turn some online forums into deserted wastelands because people just got sick of them.
As for the games I could take it or leave it, if the master chief collection was on switch at a fair price I would consider it, same with a gears of war one, but beyond that even in the halo series with recent entries I've no real interest in the solo 343 stuff. Majority of exclusives for the brand in the last decade have failed to get above yellow on Meta
I'm trying to imagine someone so annoyed that the switches cables come from one side of the dock.... But the dock weighs about 200g and can be faced towards the wall and the cables will magically be coming out the other side.
Just means placing your switch into the dock also facing that direction but since everything connecting it is wireless or via USB cables also on the sides of the dock it makes absolutely zero difference if it's facing forwards or backwards.
@browneyes I'd say there's a fine line where you might want to get a news article but also avoid instantly making your buyers unhappy with a turd placeholder icon
@Princess_Lilly and then offered free games to people instead.... But then never actually delivered those offered free games or did so after months of emails.
Will never buy their software again, not over the dropped DLC but over the handling of it
9th of Feb, wasn't it around then that people were predicting the first Nintendo Direct of the year? Could we be getting more Zelda remasters on the way to the Switch to go along with this?
@Rozetta Some of those games could massively increase after the services go down, have you seen the prices online for stuff like Heartgold and SoulSilver? Nintendo stuff normally seems to increase in price with time, not the other way around.

Regarding this patch, very cool to see the recreation of minor glitches to create a more close port to the original games.

Re: Yay! Pentiment's Home Menu Icon On Switch Has Now Been Updated

Re: Aspyr On Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Physical Release: "We Have Not Made Any Announcements"

Re: Nintendo To Broadcast The Legend Of Zelda Orchestra Concert For Free
9th of Feb, wasn't it around then that people were predicting the first Nintendo Direct of the year? Could we be getting more Zelda remasters on the way to the Switch to go along with this?
Re: It's Official, 3DS And Wii U Online Play Ends 8th April 2024
@Rozetta Some of those games could massively increase after the services go down, have you seen the prices online for stuff like Heartgold and SoulSilver? Nintendo stuff normally seems to increase in price with time, not the other way around.
