Is there any info about an upgrade path from Switch version to the Switch 2 version which is coming out? Would save data continue from one to the next.
Very strange time to be considering buying any Switch software if you have the Switch 2 pre ordered, knowing that a company could ask you to pay twice for jumping the gun and supporting them too early.
Edit: Checked their official site for info

It would sound good... if not for the playstation upgrade from PS4 > 5 version being free. Awww well, I guess at least it's better than nothing.
@Mario500 oh yeah you can, but I think they cost about the same as a year of NSO, Nintendo are really smart about including stuff which costs a bit with that subscription.
Kinda like how breath of the wild and tears switch 2 patches are included with membership, or cost 20 euro. They just really want people to sub (mit)
@USWITCH64 It's absolutely amazing for single player and multiplayer content, both local and online multiplayer. If you have an active Nintendo Switch Online account you'll also get a ton of bonus DLC tracks on top of all the content which came with the game originally on the WiiU as well as the original Deluxe content which was DLC for the WiiU but included in the base Switch title.
Only issue with buying this game now really is the fact that the price never really goes down too much on physical copies of this, you can see sales online from the eshop where it has dropped to €40 though but can be a while waiting for those.
@IronMan30 Ohhhh, I didn't know that WB had been open about their stance on Games going SW1 > SW2, I've seen some nice sales on the complete version of MK1 on SW1 but didn't jump in because I'm not sure how if at all they are going to handle a possible SW2 upgrade or how they'll do it.
Just don't want to end up buying a very low res version of that game and then being asked to pay full price again in 2 weeks time when the Switch 2 drops.
Edit : Wow, just looked up the stuff they've done with that Harry Potter Legacy on Switch, indeed there is an upgrade path for digital owners and they even have patched into the physical copies of the game a link to follow to pre order the Switch 2 version for $/€10 Gotta tip the hat to WB for that.
Ah... that's very sad to hear, really loved both Yooka-Laylee games and their breaking of the 4th wall in their appearances in other games is really fun. I hope everyone is financially stable with this news.
With Sega's nonsense regarding Sonic X Shadow Generations I will be looking to everything else than a Sega title for the Switch 2, gotta send a message that hurting your most loyal fans is bad for your business.
@Dang_69 Whoa really? Like... start up issues or they've just made it straight up not work? Guess they gotta sell another copy of Mega Man 2 on yet another generation.
Definitely agree with holding off buying ANY Switch software until companies are clear about their Switch 2 policies.
@SpaceFox myself and friends play this one a lot in 3/4 player split screen.
Would be awesome if they would give that one touch up on the switch 2 to allow those modes also work at 60fps as it's always been 30 when you cut the screen in 4.
Otherwise yeah... Mk8d with all the dlc cups is an amazing game which has given tons of play both single player and as a party game, I have mkw pre-ordered on day one with the switch 2 but I'm sure it will be a bit until it has every track from mk8d so I could see us popping back to that game during Grand Prix sessions to hit up tick tick clock or that awesome bowsers Castle SNES remake.
@Bentleyma we had a bunch of friends over to play mk8d the last weekend, I feel for your withdrawal symptoms.
I tried to play rollercoaster tycoon 3 complete edition for the first time this weekend.... Oh my the controls for that game are so counterintuitive. It's actually close to unplayable imo just from the controls, I spent about 2 hours in the sandbox fighting with them. Just awful. Very sad because it looks and runs quite nice. Strongly unrecommend!
@mikegamer it's gotta be said that GTA 6 is going to be a huge title that every site will talk about when any news drops about it. Think the second trailer passed half a billion views in the first couple of days.
I'll be honest though.... I'd love to see a version of gtaiv on switch(2) loved that games setting and story, would love to take Nico's cousin out to play bowling on a handheld.
It's kinda crazy but my main hype for switch 2 is 4 different games which feature Link from old systems. All of which I've played so much on their OG hardware.
Breath of the wild getting a full master mode play through in 60fps on launch!
That's pretty cool to see.... although I am kinda wondering how he was Winning in THPS2? Would he mean getting the goals in career mode, those were 2 minute runs just... that's some bad planning if he needed to miss a plane just so he could Ollie the magic bum.
Maybe his history with the series inspired getting the tickets to your friends in the Airport level of THPS3 so they don't miss their flight?
@mikegamer Yeah, it's kinda odd to even publish the ramblings of this person as if it was news really. I guess any talk about GTA6 is gonna drive traffic though. I do feel that Rockstar would definitely not be considering rehiring this lad any time soon seeing him cause PR issues for them for zero gain.
@StuTwo I don't know about that, but I picked the wrong week to give up heroin.
As for the game... never was a huge fan of Gex back in the day so I've no retro nostalgia feelings to make me want to buy this outside of for the ridiculousness of it.
Hearing a dev (or former dev) dumping on a product which is launching in the next month while bragging that their product will be the best thing ever... when it launches probably some time in 2027 makes me lose interest in GTA not in MKW if I'm being honest.
We need more of this, and not just that it's free but more Clarity from publishers / devs right now.
There's a sale on the eshop with stuff like the MGS collection that I really want, but while I don't know if Konami will offer an upgrade path, a patch or just try and do a Sega and sell you a completely "new" version of that collection on the Switch 2 for full price it means I can't buy with confidence so they are missing out on a sale over being quiet.
@joey302 you're very welcome, glad to hear your system is working fine again. Nintendo were lightning fast with the fix patch for this. Hope you enjoy the new switch 1 menu, it's strange seeing it update once in the consoles life and it's kinda right at the end.
That's so awesome, really can't wait for launch date to come, there are so many things I'm looking forward to which are actually Switch 1 features but playing them better, Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom will both be getting a complete play through before I even begin to worry about buying new Switch 2 software.
Although I'm getting the bundle with MKW so I'm sure I'll be tempted into playing some of that too between BotW, much like how back in 2017 it was going between Zelda and MK8D when those were like.... 2 of the 10 games which were out for the system long ago.
Hmmmm, update done but now none of my games open, with a message saying that software cannot be started. I can't even open the menu for the virtual game cards. I'm wondering if it's to do with the sheer number of games because it tries to load but then fails and errors back to the home screen. Maybe I need to empty a few of the 600 or so games from my 1.5TB card? sad times.
Edit: Fixed this after a hard reset of the system, now have my full collection of gamecards visible, gotta say that's a pretty cool menu, does mean though I'll need to move my US account into my family group and boot someone else out, seems that I had purchased a lot more games on that account than I had thought before. Really hope there's no issues with moving over multiple accounts to the Switch 2
I'll be honest, I play almost everything on switch 1 in digital format because I love the ease of flicking through hundreds of installed games on my 1.5tb SD card. So the game key card thing doesn't impact me.
But this from LRG is really taking the piss, that price point and this platform people would obviously expect the game files in the purchase.
As for the "Nintendo isn't even the same company anymore because these exist" comments, I really feel the intention of the game keys is to allow publishers to still fill shelves in stores with Nintendo boxes so that they exactly seem like the same company from years ago, but Nintendo are footing the cost of the data handling instead of the publisher and the consumer as a result of that. Don't forget that each time (the first time per system) someone inserts one of those things into a switch 2 then the eShop servers are going to have to upload a copy of a 60+GB file to the user. Bandwidth and storage isn't free for Nintendo, they'll be taking a hit on these cards for a while to come.
@NeonPizza keep in mind that this collection has the arcade versions of those 2 games as far as I know. So there's a lot of home console single player content which will not be in this release.
That's what I got from reading the previous highlight events games when they looked at power Stone. I was also looking forward to having the Dreamcast games on a modern system but that's not happening here I think.
@Anakin gotta agree here, with all the cool new things to play when switch 2 drops from mk world, GameCube on NSO and going to revisit botw and totk it's actually been really nice of Sega to be so anti consumer by giving the middle finger to everyone who made the mistake of buying sonic generations in the last 6 months since launch on switch so now I can rule out considering spending time or money on their products. Plenty of other options to choose from.
Fast RMX was an amazing early game in the switch life cycle which gave players a chance to play something very different to breath of the wild back in 2017, that game got tons of support after launch with updates so I'd confidently pick up this new title to see what the new hardware is capable of.
Stuff like this has left me very slow to buy ANYTHING on the switch 1 right now, without clarification on how software is going to work on the ns2 then it makes buying software very daunting. I really want to pick up the metal gear solid collection which is on sale for 40 right now, but when there's the possibility of Konami announcing a switch 2 version of the same collection for 60e with no upgrade path or even if the mgs switch collection works perfectly on the switch 2 then it means that Konami right now lose out on 40e from me.
We need clarification so we can buy with confidence
Remember if buying a license doesn't give you a level of ownership that you are happy with, then piracy is... Still a crime.
The thing is, there's thousands of people who download and play pirated switch games, Nintendo smacked this guy on the wrist because he's taking the piss with doing it ahead of street dates and pointing people towards where they can also do the same.
I agree with others though, I'm not sure 17k will deter someone like this, they'll ask their followers to start a go fund me so he can keep fighting for the right to steal games before launch.
This upsetting people so much makes me wanna buy it.
Ten whole euro.
Also still people crying to make the system cheaper, literally the last 8 years crying for a switch pro, 4k/60fps capable machine drops and now everyone wishing it was cheaper and of course weaker with an OLED screen of course.... Also why can't it use micro SD cards? But magically let them transfer faster? Great logic right there.
@SwagaliciousJohnson you and a few others here have asked "can the new nso GameCube pad be used on the switch 1?"
The answer to this right now has to be no, in a video on Nintendos YouTube channel which was just about the GameCube stuff, included some fine print in relation to that controller ONLY being compatible with the actual GameCube NSO app and not switch/switch 2 software. So since the GameCube stuff is switch 2 exclusive there's nothing on the first switch that could use it. Also it wouldn't work for smash ultimate if this remains true.
I know this is just physical games but as a company it must really be a challenge to consider putting something on the Xbox platform that isn't digital.... Or even at all.
Would agree with what others said here a bit, companies need to learn that just because your game looks and plays like overwatch, doesn't mean it will get the playerbase of overwatch, because at the end of the day, there's a finite number of gamers. And if everyone is playing the AAA version of the game in that space, then they're not going to leave their loved game which has their online friends and all their earned cosmetics for the next game that opens up. That's not how it with, ever.
As for myself, I like f2p games, jeez I've a YouTube channel which for lockdown was 2 years of me playing one f2p title to earn enough subs to monetize but still... Always be aware that any time and money spent in these games will be reduced to nothing one day. And that day could be years away or it could be months, we never know and have zero control over it.
@PKDuckman it's so sad there's a Johnny turbo collection on switch that has a load of games.... But not tumblepop. Which was a shame for many reasons but mostly confusing because the evercade got nearly the same data east collection on a cartridge and that does include one of the parts of my childhood.
It's an arcade game I can play through completely on a single credit and have done so so many times with friends or solo but will buy it instantly on switch when it appears.
It's gotta be one of the fairest arcade games I've played. Enough skill and you will be able to play it through without feeding the machine money
Almost every week I check if the new game is tumblepop
8 years of disappointment 🎉
Maybe next week.
I think I own about 3 rows of these so... Around 18 or so. They're very cool to support but when you consider there are handhelds you can buy for the price of 8 of these games which have every mame rom on them. It's tough to buy the sheer amount I would love to own.
Also as others said, at a point it gets a bit messy having rows of them. Even if Nintendo would release decent folder options I could stash them all in one neatly but nope.
Please please please do these games the Justice they deserve. I'm both equally excited and terrified because this is everything I've ever wanted. Please Activision don't mess this up, I'll even buy a call of duty game from you if you do this right!
@StephenYap3 the amount of tie in that had with Bam and his family I really couldn't see it happening. He has not been that stable in recent years. Hence being absent from the most recent jackass movies
I'm with you, thps3 is one of my favorite games of all time, every new device I buy it's my go to test of GameCube emulation to test that game and my test normally has to go all the way to the cruise ship to make sure it's all good!
That's awesome, have the last 5 years of people begging Nintendo for a pro upgrade of the switch but now that it's effectively coming out soon people hoping it's as cheap as possible or "starving families won't be able to afford one for their dad and kids" I mean really, it's one or the other, people who don't have 400e can easily go buy a switch og or lite, leave the upgraded model for people with money to afford it. Don't wish for them to cheap out on that pro model you've wanted for years.
It's like smash Bros but before using some of the most iconic IP in the universe they first ran it through a blender. Those figures look and feel dire, everything to do with them needs to end. It's basically what a granny buys for a kid when they have no idea what to get and the GameStop employee hates life.
@Clyde_Radcliffe think the relationship with Akira ended rather poorly.
Ex fighting layer is on the switch and has a free 2 play version which has a handful of characters, the full version has most of the roster of street fighter ex characters that didn't belong to Capcom + Terry because he's in everything
The way they talk about the switch being a path to acquiring more customers is like how a vampire talks about blood bags they're going to be drinking from.
It's not about bringing an enjoyable experience to players for EA, it's just a case of them wanting to put in zero effort porting a few decade old titles and having a platform to dump them on with a new AAA game price tag and just hope that the popularity of the system does the work for you in terms of sales.
@MeloMan they released a game on the Japanese eShop that week, an arcade game but it's 1,500 yen, all the rest cost I think 780y so it's double the price and looking at the listing I can't really see why, it's just another 1942 style shooter. Must be an expensive Japanese license or so.

Re: Nintendo Confirms Switch Controllers Are Compatible With "Switch 2 Exclusive Games"
Re: UK Charts: WWE And Monster Hunter Hold Strong In Quiet Week For Nintendo
I know this is just physical games but as a company it must really be a challenge to consider putting something on the Xbox platform that isn't digital.... Or even at all.
Re: Star Wars: Hunters Servers To Close Later This Year
Would agree with what others said here a bit, companies need to learn that just because your game looks and plays like overwatch, doesn't mean it will get the playerbase of overwatch, because at the end of the day, there's a finite number of gamers.
Re: Round Up: Humble Games Showcase 2025 - Every Nintendo Switch Announcement
Awesome, thanks for the link of this video.
That Star Fox fix could be getting itched....
Re: Hamster's Arcade Archives Celebrates Eight Years Of Switch eShop Releases
@PKDuckman it's so sad there's a Johnny turbo collection on switch that has a load of games.... But not tumblepop. Which was a shame for many reasons but mostly confusing because the evercade got nearly the same data east collection on a cartridge and that does include one of the parts of my childhood.
It's an arcade game I can play through completely on a single credit and have done so so many times with friends or solo but will buy it instantly on switch when it appears.
It's gotta be one of the fairest arcade games I've played. Enough skill and you will be able to play it through without feeding the machine money
Re: Rockstar Games Announces Acquisition Of Dev Behind GTA Trilogy Upgrades
That's pretty cool for them, do such a good job that they take you officially under their wing.
Hopefully will show other "Grove Street games" types exactly what not to do to impress the rights holders or gamers.
Re: Hamster's Arcade Archives Celebrates Eight Years Of Switch eShop Releases
Almost every week I check if the new game is tumblepop
8 years of disappointment 🎉
Maybe next week.
I think I own about 3 rows of these so... Around 18 or so. They're very cool to support but when you consider there are handhelds you can buy for the price of 8 of these games which have every mame rom on them. It's tough to buy the sheer amount I would love to own.
Also as others said, at a point it gets a bit messy having rows of them. Even if Nintendo would release decent folder options I could stash them all in one neatly but nope.
Re: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 Has Been Rated For Switch
Please please please do these games the Justice they deserve. I'm both equally excited and terrified because this is everything I've ever wanted. Please Activision don't mess this up, I'll even buy a call of duty game from you if you do this right!
Re: Rumour: A New Tony Hawk's Pro Skater Remaster Might Be On The Way
@StephenYap3 the amount of tie in that had with Bam and his family I really couldn't see it happening. He has not been that stable in recent years. Hence being absent from the most recent jackass movies
Re: Rumour: A New Tony Hawk's Pro Skater Remaster Might Be On The Way
@Olliemar28 don't forget to get Chuck unstuck!!!
I'm with you, thps3 is one of my favorite games of all time, every new device I buy it's my go to test of GameCube emulation to test that game and my test normally has to go all the way to the cruise ship to make sure it's all good!
Re: Nintendo Will "Likely" Price The Switch 2 At $399, Says Analyst
That's awesome, have the last 5 years of people begging Nintendo for a pro upgrade of the switch but now that it's effectively coming out soon people hoping it's as cheap as possible or "starving families won't be able to afford one for their dad and kids" I mean really, it's one or the other, people who don't have 400e can easily go buy a switch og or lite, leave the upgraded model for people with money to afford it. Don't wish for them to cheap out on that pro model you've wanted for years.
Re: Nintendo Is Discontinuing Gold Points, One Of The Switch's Best Incentives
Of all the things that need to be changed with the eShop and buying of switch games.... This isn't one of them.
Honestly unless they actually properly stop the flow of absolute dire scam titles to the eShop, the switch 2 as a whole is less enticing over it.
Re: Funko Fusion Is Deemed A "Complete Commercial And Critical Failure"
It's like smash Bros but before using some of the most iconic IP in the universe they first ran it through a blender. Those figures look and feel dire, everything to do with them needs to end. It's basically what a granny buys for a kid when they have no idea what to get and the GameStop employee hates life.
Re: Capcom Fighting Collection 2 Launches May 2025 On Nintendo Switch
@Clyde_Radcliffe think the relationship with Akira ended rather poorly.
Ex fighting layer is on the switch and has a free 2 play version which has a handful of characters, the full version has most of the roster of street fighter ex characters that didn't belong to Capcom + Terry because he's in everything
Re: EA: Switch 2 Could Help Games Like FC And Madden "Find Real Energy"
The way they talk about the switch being a path to acquiring more customers is like how a vampire talks about blood bags they're going to be drinking from.
It's not about bringing an enjoyable experience to players for EA, it's just a case of them wanting to put in zero effort porting a few decade old titles and having a platform to dump them on with a new AAA game price tag and just hope that the popularity of the system does the work for you in terms of sales.
Re: EA's Share Price Plummets After Reports Of Disappointing Financial Performance
Their shareholders now know how the value of an EA game holds up after a few days of buying it.
Re: Nintendo and Lego Are Collaborating On A New Game Boy Set
Hopefully this comes with a Lego stand which can get stability updates after launch.
Re: Hamster Releases Its First Arcade Archives Switch Game Of 2025, Teases A Year Full Of "Surprises"
@MeloMan they released a game on the Japanese eShop that week, an arcade game but it's 1,500 yen, all the rest cost I think 780y so it's double the price and looking at the listing I can't really see why, it's just another 1942 style shooter. Must be an expensive Japanese license or so.
