Re: It's Official, 3DS And Wii U Online Play Ends 8th April 2024

Stormcloudlive

This is sad but a thing which will always happen at some stage, there's no point saying "I'm not going to buy x game now because in 15 years it might not work online" surely at some point during the next few decades you can play a game online? If people have not played the online content to completion now in games that are over a decade old.... You missed the chance, move on. This same thing happens in life, I'm not going to stop listening to all music because David Bowie died thus meaning I can never go listen to him live. There was a time when he existed, that isn't now, I missed out.

Also you really don't have to justify pirating games to anyone else, if you're going to do it, do it.

Re: Site News: Nintendo Life Turns 18 Today

Stormcloudlive

Happy birthday! Very happy I found this site a few years ago, great news articles and reviews where ye go to the bother of explaining exactly what you think about the games rather than just focusing on a number out of ten which means zip to most people unless they know the genre same what the game actually is.

Keep up the good work everyone at the site. Thank you for your efforts

Re: Sega's Executive Director Wants Sonic Games And Movies To "Surpass Mario"

Stormcloudlive

In the same news feed as this is the fact that some new sonic game is going to be an exclusive to some Apple service and the next sonic movie will probably have another whole advert in it about how you feel at home when you're in ..... I can't even remember the name of the place but I recall laughing seeing the product placement/adverts in the first sonic movie (olive garden I think it was)

But yeah, while you're busy signing up your Mario beater for any and all roles to earn a few dollars for exclusivity or a pasta advert, Mario will still be focused on quality in games and movies.

Re: Disney Dreamlight Valley Will No Longer Be Free-To-Play When It Leaves Early Access In December

Stormcloudlive

Gameloft will literally do anything for money, they've effectively killed off their player base in the once popular asphalt 9 legends with a number of broken patches to that game, player base has gone from 10s of thousands in events to literally 100 or so. The impact that had to their finances has to be filled in somewhere.

As for changing their mind about this after a year of saying it will be free ... Not surprising in the slightest, so many things in asphalt were promised and never came, you know when Gameloft is lying because they're talking or typing.

Re: Hi-Rez Studios Is Ending Support For Hero Shooter 'Paladins' On Switch

Stormcloudlive

Damn shame, this is my second most played game on the switch, absolutely loved the maps, characters and new crossovers.
Ran great as well, locked 60fps over the 30 found in overwatch or Fortnite on switch.
I'm not sad though, I spent a fair bit of cash on this game for awesome skins and events and I got over 1k hours of playtime for that. There's many traditional game model titles that's I've bought for 60e and played for a handful of hours. I guess if I want to keep playing I can still login on the PlayStation or PC as my account is on those too, just much rather game on the switch.

Re: Konami Teases "More" Bomberman On 6th Anniversary Of Super Bomberman R

Stormcloudlive

This was a really cool game early on in the switch life, I bought mine too have something very different from breath of the wild and fast rmx my 2 first games on the system.

As early supporters of the switch at a time when there was very little support Konami won back a lot of respect from me doing that. Also don't forget they didn't just drop this game and move on, there was a patch for this game which took it from 30fps to 60 once Konami were a little more acquainted with the system.

Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online Game Boy Advance Service March 9th

Stormcloudlive

What an incredible game for any fans of metroidvania titles, if you've played stuff like hollow knight or Ori and enjoyed it but have not played this GBA classic, know there wouldn't be a hollow knight if not for games like this paving the way.

Really hoping Nintendo starts to get a better roster going now with all the old systems, would love a rotation of titles across all systems, even the quirky titles that came to the mega drive recently was cool to see some new old games.

Re: Nintendo Switch System Update 16.0.0 Is Now Live, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Stormcloudlive

Was really happy last night to see this update, my switch actually connected to wifi as I was arriving back outside my flat and I downloaded the update in my car before going in home and let my switch update.

When I opened the door I couldn't believe my eyes, the scene before me was so obscene, so crazy, I never expected something like this could happen, there was my switches wife, already turned on... INSIDE ANOTHER SWITCHES DOCK!!

I turned immediately to cover my switches eyes before it could see what was happening in the room but it was too late... It wasn't just the sights but the sounds of her hd rumble vibrating... My poor switch knew what was happening before he had seen it.

It was a moment that hung in the air for a period of time... I'll never know, was it a minute, an hour? It was like time had stopped as my mind went through all the thoughts that my switch were thinking right there, sadness, anger, revenge... But he just said one word "leave" everyone in that room was shocked.... We knew there would be a reaction but so calm.... So impacted by the sights... The sounds.... The smells damnit, my switch stood there bravely... The peak of stability.

Thank you 16.0.0

Re: Review: Metroid Prime Remastered - A Long-Awaited And Stunning Return Of A Legend

Stormcloudlive

What a shadow drop this was.... Absolutely out of no where, was loading up the eShop as soon as the direct ended, was hoping it would be 50 or less and yup at 40 this was instant buy territory but WOW prime was one of my all time favorite GameCube and just games in general but this remaster is stunning from the graphics, the controls, the sound... Everything is perfect, it's like the review said, if you didn't know this game was a port / remaster you would absolutely not question for a minute a game of this quality coming out in 2023.

Re: Square Enix Planning "Multiple New Titles" And New IP

Stormcloudlive

The fact that there's 3 versions of the "new" theathrythm game and the complete version of the game costs 120-130 euros it makes me absolutely not what to support this company spitting out games left and right, especially ones that aren't much more than a hd version of a 3ds game

Re: Mini Review: Wonder Boy Anniversary Collection - A Great But Gouging, Exploitative Package

Stormcloudlive

@AlanEdgeHead did they read the review? Absolutely not lol, this review is great lavishing praise where it's deserved but also being critical of the model, it's getting fairly annoying tbh the number of different company's releasing old games in packs where half the games overlap, I think I have 3 different (and great) collections of Capcom games now, but I also have 3 different ways of launching both final fight and knights of the round.

The reviewer mentions leaving an upgrade path, if companies like Bethesda can do this with Skyrim then surely others can do similar.

Re: Tactical Turn-Based RPG 'Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2' Marches Onto Switch This May

Stormcloudlive

Game looks pretty cool, will add to wish list for a sale maybe. For people talking about the characters in the game being anthropomorphic kids and as such can't see them without thinking it's a fetish that's kinda on you, like when you look at Fox or sonic in smash bros are you thinking "I'd hit that" but not in a melee kinda way? Don't get hung up on the character design and hate the game because of something you happen to associate it with that's not present here.

Re: Ubisoft Share Price Tumbles After Dire Sales Report

Stormcloudlive

@Ladasta that setup is also kinda nice though for customers because we can buy games at launch and not feel the risk of buyers remorse in a few months time when there's a complete edition or a discounted edition of what we paid full price for available for a few euro. Also kinda agree with people here who say Ubisoft have burned customers in other ways with awful dlc and free to play nonsense. They need to cop on a bit

Re: Nintendo Direct Announced For The Premiere Of Super Mario Bros. Movie's Second Trailer

Stormcloudlive

Nintendo direct without games is like a meat pie without ..... Meat pie, seriously, this movie isn't even crust levels of interesting to me.

I get that Nintendo wants this film to be as successful financially as the Sonic movie but really then need to remember what their fans want as well, when the Xbox system went down the road of just being a glorified DVR box that also played fifa and cod it was a disaster for MS.

Re: Arcade Archives Nintendo Collection Goes On Sale For The First Time Ever, 30% Off

Stormcloudlive

@Mjoen it's very unlikely you had any of these games on cartridges. You likely had the home ports of them on cartridges but the way I played most of these back in the day was on systems where you paid per life or you paid for a period of time to play them.

Still though, with all of the other offers on sale right now it's hard to justify paying 5e for one of these when there's games like ni no Kuni reduced to around 15e

Re: Disney Dreamlight Valley Receives Multiple Fixes On Switch, More To Come

Stormcloudlive

This is Gameloft, expect them to acknowledge that there's bugs and then do absolutely as close to nothing about them as possible. After playing asphalt 9 legends from them, expect nothing from this but slowly worsening costs / rewards from the model, 2 years ago asphalt was perfectly playable free to play, now the now recent events costs literally into the thousands to have a chance of unlocking the special event cars. Avoid this casino gambling game at all costs

Re: Disney Wants Its New Kart Racer To Provide A "Fair" Free-To-Play Experience

Stormcloudlive

@iaLgan the current special events that run in game are ALL locked behind requiring the car which is given as part of the battle pass which costs money each month and even after you gain access to the events they are just paywall after paywall to get near the special event car unlock (at the lowest rating available, it takes several hundred euro to star up the cars to where they're competitive) if you see Gameloft name on something, stay well clear. It's shocking to me that Disney gave this license to a company who effectively manages legal gambling in a 3+ rating game

Re: Disney Wants Its New Kart Racer To Provide A "Fair" Free-To-Play Experience

Stormcloudlive

This game is being developed by Gameloft the company behind asphalt 9 legends, a game which started out free to play but over a very short period turned into one of the most predatory experiences in terms of pay to even compete. It's now impossible to play any special events without buying the monthly battle pass for ten/fifteen euro but then as soon as you buy that pass you basically just unlock a series of paywalls. The cost to unlock the 4 cars released in the past month was approx €800

Gameloft is an underling of Ubisoft as well so if you know anything about their dlc practices it might give an idea.
