Genuinely kinda excited for the possibility of a Nintendo Direct, been too long since there was one and the recent showcases of games from other companies or even the Pokemon presents event left a fairly bad taste in the mouth that only a Nintendo Direct can wash out.... DIRECTLY!
While I agree with his comment that the reason the game wasn't a smashing financial success is in part the decline of the SW Brand, I know some former life time fans of the franchise who now wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot death stick, but.... also it's Ubisoft and there are many reasons that people avoid software from them as well, from awful practices internally with studios being destroyed, comments about game ownership that should be kept in a bottle and never spoken aloud or as others have mentioned, Ubisoft games value holds together like ice cream in a heatwave, any of their software I've made the mistake of buying near launch... you often see it reduced by 50% within 6 months. Feels bad to be the sucker who wanted to play the game around launch when it's the most expensive and often in its most broken form.
A game sold half as a many copies on a system which has so far sold one third as many as the previous.... I mean, Great stuff Donkey Kong, this proves you're more popular than Mario.
@Mocznik being an instructor I'm well aware of this fact thank you.
However I'll not waste a class of mine to teach a group the difference between Microsoft office and Adobe premier in terms of their abilities to create spreadsheets or videos.
Do you not understand that certain things are not comparable because they are inherently different and the comparison is a waste of time?
@Sambuc what is great about projects they work on is that they are committed to creating a great experience. The outer worlds launched in an acceptable state with a lot of cut backs but they patched it over and over to bring it well up to standards squeezing every drop of power out of the OG switch.
Really sad to hear about the layoffs though, cool to see the company mentioning looking to help move those impacted to other branches in their global network. Hope everyone lands on their feet from this.
@norwichred I'm really waiting for their video that compares going for a walk vs going for a drive.
I mean, I love the fresh air and exercise that I've been getting by going on walks but I wanted to travel to the airport outside my city and I missed my flight by 4 days and my legs haven't stopped aching since. What's going on??
@skywake aye that's pretty much the thing that killed the steam deck being something you can dock.... You can do it, but the software running is still a PC game, take something like street fighter on the deck, if you're playing it portable the controls are obviously mapped to the decks controls, you stick the deck into the official dock and all the controls are still mapped to the decks buttons in the dock, each time you need to go into the menu and bind the controls to my 8bitdo pro, I play a while, take the system away from the dock. ... And ofc then need to head back to controllers options and tell the system I now want to use the deck controls and rebind all the buttons to that controller instead.
Also for anyone who's claiming the steam deck is a gaming laptop in a handheld system, don't forget to mention that it's a Linux gaming laptop, so the likes of easy anti cheat that's needed for software like fortnite , rocket League or paladins all will not work natively with the system so those games will not allow you to log in (without a ton of additional work which isn't needed on a standard Windows laptop or something like a Lenovo legion go which runs Windows by default)
Pokemon and Gamefreak are reviving the DJ Hero franchise! This time they've realized what makes DJ'ing really appealing in real life that was missing from the game back on the Xbox360 and PS3, the Pokemon version will come packaged with glowsticks and Class A drugs
5 bundles a year for each slop game... and those companys churn out a handful of asset flip, jigsaw type rubbish each month, so they'll just shuffle those zero effort assets around 5 times each per year, will still absolutely dominate the new releases section.
They need to hire literally 1 person to look at new games going to the eshop, 1 person will look at a garbage 40th release of boxing champ night or Hole IO: cosmic complete max edition and just give it the thumbs down. 1 single worker could do this.
Easy way for square to make their software less appealing. No interest in supporting something that's been implemented by Activision in Tony hawk 3/4 I mean.... When you're below the Activision bar for customer support that's saying something.
We've had a few sessions of Mario kart world as multiplayer nights here, but the majority of my time to date has been an extensive replay of botw, I'm not 2 Devine beasts down with the sword of evils bane in my bag. Next on my list to play is either splatoon 3 at 4k or else start on my tears of the kingdom run. By the end of reloving switch 1 software in pro mode I'm sure some more sw2 software like dk and Metroid will be available. . Would love to see the master chief collection, the steam deck can run that rather competently so I would love to see how pretty it would be on that huge handheld panel or with DLSS on the big screen
It's just that there's a chance for choice paralysis to ruin the experience if you opened the app on day one and the entire 450 GameCube library was in there.
I have an Odin 2 pro with every GC game on it, I've basically used it to play 2 games. With the NSO method I've already completed almost all of soul caliber 2s main single player campaign and I've unlocked everyone except lizard man. Next I'll be finally playing through wind waker, a game that's always been on my wall of shame for not playing it. But now I'm directed to play it on gc because it's either that or Mario football.
(I've already fully completed fzero on the GC and don't want to replay it)
I just know like I said that if the whole library was on there I would be all over the place probably playing games I've finished before
The funny thing is people testing these games now in slow motion to measure the input latency... Then saying this is so much worse than the original experience.
My original experience with the GameCube was playing it on a 14 inch portable grundig TV that had the colors mess up when it's single speaker was turned up....
Also them drip feeding games is kinda the whole point of the platform, if you booted the switch 2 on day one and there was 50 GameCube games in there you wouldn't likely ever play 75% of them, this way you get something "new" to play every month or so, kinda like the original experience.
Some seriously challenged people suggesting Nintendo should have went with AA batteries in the controller to be more consumer friendly. If that's not satire... I really don't know what to say even.
Do keep in mind that this is a rumor based on a single "trust me this happened" post on Reddit. There's literally zero proof but it has generated a ton of engagement and at least a handful of comments of people who would never buy a switch claiming this is the reason they will not buy a switch (along with every article about the screen, the price or how it makes them feel sad) and a bunch of comments from the steam deck owner (s) claiming they'll now consider buying a steam deck over this reddit post
Genuinely feels like 50% of the people in this comment section read half the headline, got upset and then posted what they think about what they've misunderstood. It's kinda amazing.
Hey.... Why is there no option for someone to say "I actually love my PS5" I feel that would totally have had one vote.
But! Regarding switch 2, I legit was worried because Nintendo had been relatively quiet about the backwards compatibility power of the system and as I own over 1k switch titles I was concerned about losing access to them and that I would be going back to my OLED model all the time when not playing switch 2 software, but nope... Barely turned on my switch 1 since getting the upgrade, only for a brief comparison of Witcher 3. Last night I actually gave away my hori compact joy cons to a switch 1 friend of mine so there's no going back now.
If you ride into any of the stables in Hyrule now as the music starts playing something seems a bit different, I don't know what it is exactly it just feels more stable.
@Suketoudara yeah I really don't think that the kids who's parents opt for the bundle that just has welcome tour vs the Mario kart world bundle are going to enjoy playing around with DLSS and VRR demonstrations.
Would definitely have led to more upset parents and actually buyers of the system rather than upsetting a vocal online minority.
@VivianOblivion That combined with hackers memories goes on sale all the time on the eshop, I think the most recent time it was on sale for something like €6 for 2 absolutely great games (game and an addon / remix) but so much brilliant game for that money. Would highly recommend.
@Jack_Goetz Yeah if you think about it, when the game internally is running at 120frames it means that there are 120 "slots" every second where an input can be sent to the game engine which are valid, even if the game might not begin to visually display the results of the input until the next visible frame if it goes in at say frame 49 the input still is received by the engine before frame 50 so will be taken effect already in the background.
Where this kinda thing really shines is fps games, think about one person who's playing on a machine processing the game at 300 fps while another at 30fps, even if both of those were displayed on a 30hz screen the person who's machine internally is running fast will have 10 times more slots for an input to be sent to the games code, say for example a shootout scenario both facing each other... even if the 30 fps person mashes as fast as they possibly can, they're likely going to need to wait up to 9 frames of the other persons machine before their input could head to the game engine where the instant the 300fps machine gets an input it will be sent to the game engine on the next available internal frame.
They could make copper more useful by replacing it with sand or making it so you automatically drop it from your inventory as you walk around if you've made the mistake of picking it up.
Stuff is just completely worthless as it stands, everyones base just likely has a chest somewhere in a corner that's full of the junk.
@Bentleyma You are missing out on the seasons new racers by not paying each month. You might not "feel" as though you are missing out on content, but when you go to do a race, look at the other racers on the track and notice how some of them have characters that you do not have, that is because they paid money. This is like someone who has a demo of a game and doesn't "Feel" like they're missing out even though the majority of events and characters are locked behind monthly payments.
If anyone is on the fence about it, before checking the game I would advise even a read of the wiki article for the game which has sections on critical response which talks about the cost of the game and changes to the monetization where Gameloft tried to squeeze even more money from players.
I look forward to their future offerings of some old megadrive games poorly emulated for 60euro along with bonus art work and a teaser trailer for Sonic 06 remastered.
Also when it comes to Sega and their thoughts about the console market... I mean? They stopped being in that space over 2 decades ago because they couldn't figure it out.
@Runex2121 we might get Tekken Advance in the NSO games instead.
But I'm cautious about Namco, they've already said the little nightmares upgrade will be free on other platforms but no luck for Nintendo owners of the OG game, we gotta pay again... for "technical reasons"
Wonder how long until the Switch 2 gets a version of Asphalt Unite, although the OG Switch 1 version now runs a whole lot better on the newer hardware.
That said, if anyone hasn't played gamelofts free to play games.... keep it that way, they're FOMO laced P2Win filled garbage.
It's pretty awesome the jump to the handhelds native 1080p screen, makes such a huge difference. They're right it is like playing a generationally new version of those games, the legend of Zelda ones in particular.
Did anyone notice the second Mario/ rabbids game jumped from 30 to 60 fps on switch 2 as well, apparently that had been unlocked frame rate with a double buffer in place that held it at 30 on switch one, switch 2 has the horsepower to lock it to 60 throughout.
Also Dave the diver getting a free switch 2 upgrade "soon"
It's pretty crazy now that just on a random day of the week you suddenly have access to another GameCube quality game. Just think in the next few months we'll turn on our switch systems and they'll just have Mario Sunshine or Luigi's Mansion waiting to be booted up.
@Rosona Strongly agree here and seeing this is Namco Bandai, they've just moved my pre order desire for Digimon Story: Time Stranger from pre order to "wait for it to land in a bargain bin" status. Vote with your wallets folks, let companies know it isn't ok to charge Nintendo players more for the same thing that other platforms are all getting for free.
(side note, Digimon Cybersleuth and hackers memories is reduced from 60 > 6 on the eshop right now, great value for a great game if people haven't played it and want something to play in the Digimon universe while waiting for the next game to drop from full price)
Also I'm with @Polvasti on this one, I just don't get it, for 50-60euros it basically lets you leave on a poorly fitting case around the Switch device? Just get an official decent case and no need to be risking destroying your USB C port at the underneath of the device.
@Jack_Goetz That's the one! Was a really good game just to have something different on the device before the heavy hitters started dropping like odyssey, MK8D and Splatoon 2. I played through about 4 worlds of it but stopped before finishing it, tried to go back to finish it off last year but I couldn't even remember how to make the snake do the most basic movements. Just... nope, brain forgot all of that controls.
Really want to pick up a copy of this for some high speed racing when I'm finished with BotW and MKW. It looks incredible and it really gives 2017 throwback vibes as when the first Switch dropped for a good while the only games I had on it was breath of the wild, Fast RMX.... and that snake game that I cannot recall the name of!
@BuddhaBabboo Been playing a load of SC2 as well to unlock all of the characters.... aaah that nostalgia feeling of unlocking characters in a fighting game by playing the game rather than getting out credit cards and buying season passes.
But I agree with you, when you look at the upressing done to the backgrounds like stain glass windows and other area's it's amazing just how good it looks. Still though... have a good few missions left to unlock Lizardman!
@JS_Comics Yeah I'm the same as you, I take the screen size increase any day of the week. Also given that the Switch 2 screen size is so much larger it's going to make any blurring more apparent because there's simply more screen real estate for pixels to be spread across.
@JS_Comics That's what it's all about really, fun. If people want a serious sim racing experience then 24 player online mario kart is not the way to go 🫡
@Max_the_German You can be the nicest player in the world if you realllly love your racing rivals. If you have a feather and there is a blue shell coming for you, if you actually time the jump at the point where it locks on to you, you can jump up to intercept the shell while it's high in the air it causes the explosion sphere to be so airborne that most racers near you won't get hit by it.
Counterintuitive if you're trying to save your own backside but it can be good if you're playing a GP with a few friends and you want to make sure that a human player comes on the podium to unlock Gold cups and other features.
@Hero-of-WiiU It's worth noting as well that the video footage showing the blurring on the Switch 2 screen was when viewing it at 11% speed... so this should impact too many people unless you happen to have the eyes of a hummingbird.
I love people who are questioning how Nintendo could ever want to go back from using OLED to LCD because the Vita used OLED on the launch models... The Vita's OLED screen was also a contributing factor in the systems failure as it had awful colour bleeding when the games weren't at their native resolution and the PSVita 2.0 model which came out to try and salvage the system came packed with an LCD display.
Also you'll see people both hating on the price at times... while also questioning why the Switch 2 didn't have an OLED screen, longer cables, come with extra HDD space. The reason for all of those things is Nintendo trying to keep the price reasonable, sure they could have used an OLED screen but the price would have reflected that and hurt day 1 sales.
Now though... I actually used my Switch 2 in dock for the majority of the first couple of weeks so I've been loving the hardware improvements from the CPU/GPU side of things... but I have to say, taking it out of the dock at the weekend and playing an hour or so of NSMBU on the system I did notice it a tiny bit that there is a slight amount of ghosting on screen and blurs a bit more than the SWOLED model... that said, would I ever go back? Absolutely not, the screen is still much nicer imo because of the increased size and even though my SWOLED has upgraded Hori Switch pad compact joycons... it still feels like a toy in comparison to the premium feel of the Switch 2 design.
My main wish right now is that creators of flash memory get their asses in gear with making larger SD Express cards.
The system hasn't even been out a month and the majority of games which has issues with backwards compat are already sorted. It's so cool to see this was a primary concern of Nintendo and wasn't just some afterthought that some games might kinda work on the ns2. Seal of quality barking happily with this launch

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch 2's GameCube Library Next Week
It's pretty crazy now that just on a random day of the week you suddenly have access to another GameCube quality game. Just think in the next few months we'll turn on our switch systems and they'll just have Mario Sunshine or Luigi's Mansion waiting to be booted up.
Re: Street Fighter 6's First Season 3 Character Arrives This August
I fell asleep during the live stream it was so boring, I came back to quickly flick through to anything interesting afterwards.... There was nothing
Re: Little Nightmares 3 And Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition Announced For Switch 2
Re: Little Nightmares 3 And Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition Announced For Switch 2
@Liam_Doolan due to technical reasons we need to charge you again.
Dang, I hope that Nintendo is aware of this horrific technical fault with the switch 2
Re: PSA: DBrand's Switch 2 'Killswitch' Dock Adapter's 'Seamless Docking' Apparently Isn't Quite Seamless
I mean... it literally has one job and it failed.
Also I'm with @Polvasti on this one, I just don't get it, for 50-60euros it basically lets you leave on a poorly fitting case around the Switch device? Just get an official decent case and no need to be risking destroying your USB C port at the underneath of the device.
Re: Exclusive: Fast Fusion's First Major Update Arrives This Week With Three New Tracks
Re: Exclusive: Fast Fusion's First Major Update Arrives This Week With Three New Tracks
Re: Smash Bros. Pro Loses 11-Year Sponsorship After "Inappropriate Conduct" At Mario Kart World Tournament
Maybe it was just something instinctual in that fanbase of pro's that the contract was 11 so he had to ruin its life?
Re: Video: Switch 2's GameCube Emulation Apparently Has Underlying Issues Nintendo "Desperately Needs To Fix"
Re: "One Of The Slowest Modern LCDs I've Ever Seen" - Digital Foundry's John Linneman On Switch 2's Display
@JS_Comics Yeah I'm the same as you, I take the screen size increase any day of the week. Also given that the Switch 2 screen size is so much larger it's going to make any blurring more apparent because there's simply more screen real estate for pixels to be spread across.
Re: Sega Knows You Hate Mario Kart's Blue Shells
@JS_Comics That's what it's all about really, fun. If people want a serious sim racing experience then 24 player online mario kart is not the way to go 🫡
Re: Sega Knows You Hate Mario Kart's Blue Shells
@Max_the_German You can be the nicest player in the world if you realllly love your racing rivals. If you have a feather and there is a blue shell coming for you, if you actually time the jump at the point where it locks on to you, you can jump up to intercept the shell while it's high in the air it causes the explosion sphere to be so airborne that most racers near you won't get hit by it.
Counterintuitive if you're trying to save your own backside but it can be good if you're playing a GP with a few friends and you want to make sure that a human player comes on the podium to unlock Gold cups and other features.
Re: Sega Knows You Hate Mario Kart's Blue Shells
Really think that Sega would be better off not going into direct comparisons of what Genesis does what Nintendont
Tell us about the fun items in your game that cause choas.... maybe a spiky blue Chaos emerald so it's on brand.
Re: Digital Foundry Is "Happy" With Switch 2 But Feels The Screen Is "Problematic"
@Hero-of-WiiU It's worth noting as well that the video footage showing the blurring on the Switch 2 screen was when viewing it at 11% speed... so this should impact too many people unless you happen to have the eyes of a hummingbird.
Re: Digital Foundry Is "Happy" With Switch 2 But Feels The Screen Is "Problematic"
Re: GRID Autosport Ready To Race On Switch 2 Thanks To Latest Firmware Update
The system hasn't even been out a month and the majority of games which has issues with backwards compat are already sorted. It's so cool to see this was a primary concern of Nintendo and wasn't just some afterthought that some games might kinda work on the ns2. Seal of quality barking happily with this launch
