Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle And The Millionaires' Conspiracy (Switch)

SilentHunter382

While I like both and do prefer the full art of the JP one but the US/EU one tells you what the game is about on the front cover without having to turn the case around.

very 50/50 for me but I would say the JP one for me. I originally voted for the US/EU because of what I said above but once you know what type of game it is then the JP one shines out more.

Re: ICYMI: If You Want To Play Virtual Boy Classics, You'll Need To Buy One Of Nintendo's Accessories

SilentHunter382

Look I am fine with them locking the system to the most expensive version. I would also be fine if you have to get the peripheral to take advantage of the VB gimmick.

But locking it so you have to have either of the peripherals to play them is a bad idea. Since the system was a flop and only had less then 20 games. If the system was a success and had released over 100 games. It would still be a bad idea to do this but atleast there would be some justification to get the peripheral on a very thin line.

Nintendo should really just really modify the games (or emulator) so that they are playable in 2D and have the peripheral to play it in 3D

Re: Review: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 (Switch 2) - A Welcome Reminder Of The Series' Glory Days

SilentHunter382

I was really looking forward to this collection because of THPS4 as that is when I started the series. I never played 1 - 3 so I don't have any preference to those titles.

My plan was to play 4 again and then play 3 to see what the 2 minute timer gameplay is like an if I did like it I would have picked up 1+2 also.

But now that 4 isn't 4 anymore I don't see myself pick this game up unless some modders come along and revert the changes back on PC to how they were on the PS2 when I played it is when I might pick it up when it is heavily discounted.

Re: "It Will Have A Chilling Effect On Game Design" - EU Group Responds To 'Stop Killing Games'

SilentHunter382

@sethfranum Sure the EULA states that but if this goes into effect then this will override what the EULA says.

@Ryu_Niiyama With anthems case it won't be effected. The reasons for that this petition is not expecting companies to retroactively these end of life plans to games. It will be for games going forward if this does go into effect and even then I would expect that if it does pass that they would have a clause that any game released after X date (maybe 2 years gase preiod) must have end of life plans included in their games. That way games that are in active development will have time to implement these.

Re: "It Will Have A Chilling Effect On Game Design" - EU Group Responds To 'Stop Killing Games'

SilentHunter382

@Oldstalk The lobby group missed the point on that. The Petition is not asking for games to run indefinitely by the game companies.

It is asking game companies to add an end of life plan to games when they want to stop supporting the game so that the paying customers can add the ability to have private servers to the game so the game can live on through the players rather then the company.

Re: "It Will Have A Chilling Effect On Game Design" - EU Group Responds To 'Stop Killing Games'

SilentHunter382

@sethfranum The games don't have to be always online. What the Petition is saying is for those Online only games to have an end of life plan in place so that when they game companies don't want to support then they need to implement a system that gives players the ability to play it offline or give them the ability for players to create private servers for the game. That way the game can live on.

If they do that then it is up to players if they want to continue to give the life to the game with those private servers or not. If this goes into effect and game companies do these implementations then they are in the clear.

Some games have done this already. One example is "The Avengers" game. They added P2P support to the game and made the game offline instead of online only and gave all the microtransations skins out to players for free (this is optional with the skins and companies don't have to do this). This is the perfect example of what the Petition wants companies to do.

Re: Rumour: Final Fantasy Devs Supposedly Hint At Another Nintendo Release

SilentHunter382

@nin10doom Yep. While I don't have the switch 2 yet and I already have Cyberpunk on PC (and to some extent steam deck). I may pick it up also just to have it physical as well as Mario Kart world. The zelda titles are expection as I have those physical already on the switch one and getting the switch 2 update is a bit different then having to rebuy them physical with the switch 2 version.

Re: Forget Switch 2 Game Key-Cards - "Full On-The-Cart Physical Releases" Are What People Want, Says Publisher Lost In Cult

SilentHunter382

@Yosher Spot on. This is why I hate them. Yes codes in the box were bad (and I really hated them also) at the very least they were a digital product.

These are also worse then the card having only part of the game on the cart and you have to download the rest. Atleast with those there is some data on the cart to save you space unlike these.

Re: Pokémon Legends: Z-A's Switch 2 And Switch 1 Prices Have Been Revealed

SilentHunter382

@Yokaisou For me I will have to go for the Switch version then buy the upgrade later. Reason is that the only shop that sells games near me is selling Legends for €60.

Now they don't have the switch 2 version up but knowing them they will be selling it for €80 as that is what they are selling all the other switch 2 games that have the switch 1 cartridge with the upgrade code. The upgrade code shouldn't cost €20 and even if they do I will still have a cleaner looking box cover compared to the switch 2 one.

Re: Talking Point: With Prices Rising, Are Your Gaming Habits Changing?

SilentHunter382

My gaming habits have been adjusted. Not on PC but defo on consoles. I cancelled my Switch 2 pre-order and when I saw that games that are coming to switch and switch 2 I normally would get the next gen versions but since the switch 2 versions of games are just the switch 1 cart with an upgrade code in the box that has put a massive sore taste in my mouth.

And with the increase cost of both digital and physical games (more so physical for me) my excitement of the switch 2 went from high to really low very quickly. Will I get a switch 2 at some point. Ya I will but when I have no idea. maybe not in the first 2 years I think.

Re: Opinion: The Switch 2 Is A Powerhouse For The Price

SilentHunter382

I really wanted to pick up the switch 2. The price is fine but I would only be buying it for exclusives as I am a pc gamer and I also own a steam deck for portability for the I want to play on the go.

Also when it comes to console gaming in am 95% physical unless there is a game that isn't sold physical here. In the end I had to cancel my pre-order of the system. I can't justify paying €80 - €90 for physical games (and no I will not buy the games digital if I can pick it up physically for the system).

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Nintendo Switch 2 Special

SilentHunter382

Any of the switch 2 games that have the switch 1 cart in them I am just going to get them on the original switch 1 version. All that text really ruins the art of the box for me.

I was even debating going to get Kirby for the switch 2 to have a complete version of that game even though I have it already but since it will be the same version I already have but with a upgrade code there is no point.

Re: Digital Switch 2 Games Being Cheaper Than Physical Is A "Challenge", Says Retailer GAME

SilentHunter382

While I am ok with digital games being cheaper the physical. What I am not ok with is the huge jump from games costing €60 to €80 on the high end with physical being €90. That to me is just too much of a jump on the high end. I don't care if the game is worth it.

For current gen the jump to €70 was a sore taste but understandable but we are still in the current gen and it jumping to €80 for some base games.

Then there is the Game-Key cards. At that stage you might aswell go digital with those. The reason I went full physical with nintendo games (with exceptions if there are digital only) is that the full game (minus patches and dlc) is on the cart. Not an inbetween that is worse then physical as you have to download the full game and worse then digital as you have to bring a cart with you. The only good thing is that it is more physical the digital but still.

Re: First Impressions: Nintendo Switch 2 'Wows' Most When You Go Back To Your Old Switch

SilentHunter382

Going to be honest. I have my system on pre-order just encase but now after the hype of the reveal I am starting to think. Is it really worth getting it now or later. The only games I am really looking forward too are Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon Legends and they are not being release till later in the year.

While Mario Kart is great it isn't a I need to play this now game for me. If I didn't already have a Gaming PC and Steam Deck then it my be a must have for me to play cyberpunk and Elden ring on the go.

I think I may cancel my pre-order and wait a year or so (though I may pick up Metroid and Pokemon physically when they released) and they could release a special edition of the system. That way I can let someone who really wants the console more at launch secure the pre-order I have in place.

Re: Random: Italian Site Lists Switch 2 Pre-Orders For Just 15€ More Than Switch OLED RRP

SilentHunter382

I just kinda hope that I can nab one this year or until the second half of next year. Work gave me a gift card as a Christmas bonus which can be used at selected stores but the stores that will sell the switch don't do pre-orders so you have to be lucky and reserve one on launch day. The card has a nice amount in it so it will make the purchase much better for me.

The reason for this is that if the card is issued over 18 months ago, money will start to be deducted from the card each month.

Re: Nintendo: Switch 2's Backwards Compatibility Feature Is The "Best Direction" For Consumers

SilentHunter382

I am glad that atleast it plays physical games. I know they said it was backwards compatible a few months back but nothing was said for physical but atleast it is confirmed.

Now I just hope the switch 2 has a performance boost. Now I hope games that didn't have a rock solid fps (like botw, totk and age of calamity). Now I would be over the moon if they got them to a solid 60 fps but getting a solid 30 fps would be the bare minimum for me if it has boost performance.

Re: Random: Switch Players Report Game Cards Being Swapped Out For Googly Eyes

SilentHunter382

@GravyThief Yep though physical copies earn less gold then digital. It is 1% of the RRP for a physical and I think 5% for digital. And no once the gold has been claimed from the cartridge then nobody else will get gold. I have confirmed this when I bought games second hand within the 2 years of the games releases and the gold had already been claimed on some of them. You can be lucky though like yourself if they never knew about it.
