Re: Switch Firmware Update 13.0.0 Speeds Up Game Boot Times

SilentHunter382

I just did a tested on 2 games (warioware and Scott Pilgrim) and the results seem to vary from game to game.

Warioware (physical) loaded so fast that the the icons flashed on screen for a split second that it didn't even start the animation while Scott Pilgrim (digital) played out the whole animation.

Re: Unavailability Of Classic Titles Is "Holding Game Culture Back", Says Platinum's Hideki Kamiya

SilentHunter382

This is the reason I download games that are not easily available to purchase digitally. I have downloaded many abandoned ware games that companies don't releases digitally. GoG has been great in this instance. They could do more but what they have done is fantastic. This is why when going forward companies need to be able to allow backwards compatibility for all games. Even if they didn't allow it physically allow it for all digital games.

Re: New PEGI Gambling Criteria Means Old Pokémon Games Would Now Be Rated 18+

SilentHunter382

I think that the current age they have before for simulated gambling was fine for 12+ but that should be the highest the rating should go provided that nothing else in the game would warrent a higher rating. Also if there are lootboxes in the game but can only be use with ingame currency and there is no way for you to buy said ingame money or a workaround to get said money (ie buy this item that can be sold for x amount of money) then that should also have a 12+ rating.

This needs to be taken into account with any game that includes lootboxes that can be gain by buying the lootbox or with ingame currency which can be bought with real money. If they don't do this at all then what is the point of the age increase.

Re: Talking Point: If Nintendo Switch Online Adds Game Boy, Why Not Throw In GBA, Too?

SilentHunter382

This has reminded me that I need to play fusion as I have not played it yet (but own it because of the nintendo ambassador thing for the 3ds) as I have preordered Dread.

But on terms of them adding the GB and GBA I would love them to add the GBA Pokemon game to the list cause the gen 3 game were the only ones I don't own and I gave up on nintendo adding them to the 3ds that I went and got emerald 2 weeks ago (expensive but still got it cheaper then what others were selling it for) and currently looking at picking up either fire red or leaf green that is sold in Ireland as I am not paying the expensive delivery and import fees for the game.

Re: Blizzard Outlines Plans To Rename Popular Overwatch Character

SilentHunter382

Changing the name won't do anything. People who don't know about the issues will wonder why the name change now and the majority (like myself) doing this isn't solving the issue.

Not sure if it is true or not but I heard that the HR destroyed evidence because the destroying the evidence is a much less punishment then what the evidence showed.

Fix the root cause of things instead of the surface level bs. Alot of people can see through your bs and are not going to comeback to your games and future ones (this is one of the reasons many WOW players abandoned ship and jumped to FFXIV).

Re: Among Us Devs Speak Out About Fortnite's Suspiciously Familiar 'Impostors' Mode

SilentHunter382

I had my fun with fortnite a while back but that was it. Now from what people are saying that it is so close to "Among Us" that it is a rip off with nothing added to make it its own.

Now I know that Among Us wasn't the first to come up with the idea (you can't copyright game mechanics if I am not mistaken) as I played TTT way back in the day but even Among Us had objectives to complete while TTT didn't which makes Among Us different in that stage. If fortnite just did a 1 to 1 in this situation then ya it is kinda scummy on epics part.

Even when Epic added the battle royal to their game and people started saying that they copied PUBG. At the basic mechanics ya they did but fortnite did have the building aspect which made it its own thing. There I can atleast say that epic didn't copy PUBG 1 to 1 (even though PUBG got their idea from H1Z1).

Re: Grand Theft Auto Remastered Trilogy Reportedly Heading To Switch

SilentHunter382

If SA ends up being the same versions that were released on 360/PS3 then it would be a hard pass for me as there are many bugs in the game like visual bugs (which are not a massive deal but annoying) to game breaking where quests will fail that are out of your control which ends up soft locking your game. Now I am not saying that the softlocking happens all the time but it is an issue that is there.

Re: Pokémon Legends: Arceus Info Is Coming "Soon", Says The Pokémon Company

SilentHunter382

While I don't see myself getting it day one. I want to see what people think about the game first before I get it but my main concern about the game is the performance. As always I am a 60fps snob but I know what to expect from the switch and I just hope that gamefreak can get the game to run at a stable 30fps at release (I don't mind a hiccup here or there in performance since this is going to be an open world game).

I really hope that they delay the game (to improve the performance and to not release so close to BDSP) so they don't fall face first at the starting line. Since this is going into a new direction for them and I do hope it works out for them.

Re: Nintendo Shares Updated Release Schedule For 2021 And Beyond

SilentHunter382

The only things that are on my radar that I will be getting day one for this year for switch are.

  • No More Heroes 3
  • WarioWare
  • Advance wars
  • SMT V
  • Metroid Dread

I will be getting BD also but unsure if I will get it this year or not. I would have gotten this year but another "game" is being release that day which is something I will not be missing.

Re: Square Enix Says A Console Version Of Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Depends On Demand

SilentHunter382

@jamesthemagi I do hope so but it is very likely that they will be the same as there SNES versions. They will update those pages with screenshots and that same quote to the page once there is a solid release date.

The best way to do it would be to have 2 versions of the game. You can then pick from the title menu. Original or remastered versions. That way it will make the people who want to have the games as close to the original as possible happy while also keep the people who want the extra content also happy.

Re: Square Enix Says A Console Version Of Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Depends On Demand

SilentHunter382

@jamesthemagi You sure cause the pages for 1-3 show this at the bottom.

This is from the FF1 page.

"This remaster is based on the original "FINAL FANTASY" game released in 1987. Features and/or content may differ from previously rereleased versions of the game. "

EDIT: My bad misread your post and massively failed to notice the "No" in the "No extra content" part of your comment.

Re: Square Enix Says A Console Version Of Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Depends On Demand

SilentHunter382

The problems I have with these versions are:

They don't contain the extra content that the GBA and PSP versions added to them. They are the base version of when they were first released with a few bug fixes.

The font is horrible and doesn't fit with the pixel look of the game at all.

The prices for what you are getting is extremely expensive. €75 for a bundle deal on steam for all 6 games.

For me if they had all the extra content from all the other re-released versions ( well exception would be ffiv with the after years as that is more of a sequal game rather then extra content but I wouldn't say no if we got it also) then the price would have been more fine with me even if it is still way too high.

Re: Random: 'Switch Vs Steam Deck' Memes Are A Thing Now, Apparently

SilentHunter382

@Kirgo Some things may have been good but support was not always the best. Here is an image that may show some of the issues valve had with their hardware but it is also a meme at the same time. Note they show the Vive for the VR instead of the Index by mistake.

https://img-9gag-fun.9cache.com/photo/a279PW9_460s.jpg

This is why I am very skeptical about getting the deck. Not saying it won't be good but I will wait a while and see what others have to see about the system and see if there are going to be any issues with it.

Re: Feature: Our Most Treasured Zelda Memories

SilentHunter382

My best memory of a zelda game was when me and my brother were both stuck on Lttp back in the day on the first boss of the dark world. We could never figure it out how to hurt it then our father who doesn't play games saw the hammer in our inventory said "try hitting it with the hammer" and worked. We weren't bright kids back then and never thought to use the item you got in the dungeon.

But I will always remember that moment.

Re: Eek! The Physical Copy Of Monster Hunter Stories 2 Might Require A Download

SilentHunter382

Even if it is 15gb download it doesn't just add 15gb to the file size of the game. In that 15gb, 4gb of that could be added space and the other 11gb would be to replace existing data.

Example of where a download patch size doesn't mean added space. Payday 2 at one point was around 60gb. Then the companyrelease a 30gb patch and all of a sudden the games total filesize is 40gb after the patch has been installed.

Re: Nintendo Fears A Popular ROM Website Could Make A Comeback

SilentHunter382

My stance on Piracy is that, if there is no way for me to legal get the game that gives money directly to the developer/publisher then I will class those games as abandoned ware. Yes it is Piracy but it is in that grey area since you can't buy these games that benefit the publisher and/or developer.

Subscriptions base options will count as giving money to the developers (ie gamepass/NSO).

There are legacy games I want to own on modern Nintendo systems but since Nintendo doesn't want to do this, my only other choice is to go and pirate them. Since Nintendo isn't going to lose money by me downloading these games.

Re: Video: Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp Switch Vs. GBA Comparison

SilentHunter382

I have never played the GBA AW games so I am looking forward to picking this up but as others have said I would have liked an option if they added the retro visuals also but hey if the sales end up being good then it might lead to a new AW game.

@Dualmask "AW is not the kind of game that relies heavily on frame rates and what not, so as long as the loading time is not excessive"

Yep I agree. I am a huge fps snob but when it comes to games that are turn based then I am not too bother with low frame rate or a hiccup here and there (aslong as it isn't stuttering like crazy).

Re: Another Cloud Game Is On Its Way To Nintendo Switch This July

SilentHunter382

I am someone who doesn't like cloud games but I will never say that it shouldn't exist. An issue is that you are paying full price for a game to stream which eats up data. There will be a point where you use more data streaming it then it would take to download it and that is just one of the many issue I have with it.

Now there are some upside for cloud gaming and is games that wouldn't be able to run on the switch can run and look better through cloud gaming and that is great but I would only recommend doing it is if you don't have another system to play it on.

Re: Japanese Charts: Game Builder Garage Beats Final Fantasy VII And Ratchet & Clank To Number One

SilentHunter382

@KryptoniteKrunch "Who would've thought that a small, new IP would've more than tripled the sales of a new FF game?"

There are a few reasons for the low FF sales.

1: There is an upgrade system that cost 100 yen if you own the digital/physical version of the ps4 game. So there is no reason to buy it again.

2: That only counts as physical sales so we don't know what digital sales are like in Japan

3: Final Fantasy isn't as big in Japan as it is in the west. Dragon Quest is far more popular over in Japan.
