Re: The Pokémon Diamond And Pearl Remakes Have Been Updated To Version 1.1.1, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

SilentHunter382

@johnvboy Yep it is a rare situation (one possibility could be people on duty) but it really doesn't become an issue until Nintendo stops fully supporting the switch and disables the ability to download patches.

This is why I hate it when a game releases a day one patch that adds missing content to the game. This includes games like the gta trilogy (doesn't matter how broken the game is just that you have to download the rest of the games).

The only game I have seen that does the download the rest of the game at launch and do it right is DOOM. The Single player portion of the game is on the cart while the Multiplayer is downloaded. Sure you have to download the multiplayer with the patches but atleast that when support fully goes for the switch the SP is still playable with the cart.

Re: The Pokémon Diamond And Pearl Remakes Have Been Updated To Version 1.1.1, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

SilentHunter382

@johnvboy The difference is that if you have no internet for whatever reason and got the game. The game is missing alot of content that is being added in the day one patch.

To me a day one patch is for fixing bugs not adding content into the game. If you are buying a physical cart then you should be able to play all of the game has to offer in an offline state.

Re: YouTube Is Hiding The Dislike Count, Good News For Switch Online's Video Team

SilentHunter382

I can understand wanting to removed the dislike button but I still think it is an incredibly stupid idea to do so.

My biggest concern is those scam or dishonest videos. Without showing the dislike count, far more people are going to fall for them. Sure you can say it is their fault for not looking into it.

When looking up tech videos where I see a 90% dislike and straight away that tells me that this will be a bs video and I shouldn't waste my time with it. Now without that counter my time will be wasted with these type of videos that will either give wrong information or is a total scam.

Re: GTA Trilogy Fans Aren't Happy With Some Of The Changes In The 'Definitive' Remaster

SilentHunter382

I wasn't going to get the game day one physical when I saw that it required a download.

But what sealed it for me was not having the full soundtrack for VC and SA as I wouldn't call them the Definitive editions of those games since that is missing content. GTA III can be call that as it seems that it has it's full soundtrack but will still be waiting for a sale on the game.

TBH if the physical game download and the music didn't bother me then the above sreenshots above wouldn't bother me except that render distance one as that would defo put me off.

Re: Zelda: BotW, Super Mario 64 And Pokémon GO Shortlisted For The Golden Joystick 'Ultimate Game Of All Time' Award

SilentHunter382

This is my take on each of the games on the list.

  • Minecraft: This was just the perfect game for creative people when it was release and it is still going as strong as ever.
  • The Last of Us: While this game is fantastic I would disagree with it being nominated as "Ultimate game of all time"
  • Doom (1993): Perfected the FPS genre. Sure it wasn't the first but it made it the gold standard for others to immatate and even furture perfect.
  • Tetris: One of the most famous puzzle games of all time.
  • Super Mario 64: This is the game that show how 3d game work when games were in the teething stages of going from 2d to 3d.
  • Street Fighter II: Like super mario 64 this was the game that perfected fighting games that it is still being played in tournaments to this day.
  • Space Invaders: While I can see and won't argue with why it should be in the UGOAT I just don't have any opinion on it.
  • Portal: A brand new take on how puzzle games can be played but a UGOAT I would disagree.
  • Pokémon GO: As the game itself I would disagree but when this game out in 2016 it had a huge global impact.
  • Super Mario Kart: While a great game I would say it sequals deserve the UGOAT more so then this game.
  • Grand Theft Auto V: Another global impact game but I would say that GTA: SA deserves it more.
  • Super Mario Bros. 3: The game that perfected platformers.
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: Another fantastic game but wouldn't put it in the UGOAT
  • Halo: Combat Evolved: The game that perfect console FPS game. Yes with Goldeneye you could say that game did it first and you are correct but Halo should that this is how it is ment to be done and every fps on consoles have followed that formula.
  • Dark Souls: While Demon's Souls when from an Oblivion clone to createing it own genre of game. Dark Soul made that genre more available to more players.
  • Metal Gear Solid: Showing that games can tell an intelligent story instead of a play it safe kind of story and grew to one of the most popular stealth games of all time.
  • Half-Life 2: One that deserves to be in here with the gravity gun but I would say that Half-Life one should be on here more so then 2.
  • Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare: While I may not like the cod game I would be a fool to not say that this should be on the list as it caused a massive shift in the game industy on how online multiplayers games can be done.
  • Pac-Man: One of the most infulental games for the arcades to ever exist.
  • SimCity (1989): Like with Space invaders I can't really form an opinion if this should be UGOAT or not.

Re: Nintendo Launches Three New Zelda Websites To Celebrate Game & Watch

SilentHunter382

Looking forward to it. I picked up the mario G&W a month ago and I felt that it was very lacking. Since Both games are nearly identical they really could have tossed in Mario land 1 and 2 (and to be greedy Mario bros 2 (west version) and 3 also).

With the Zelda G&W and what they added is better deal in comparison because the games are much different (but if I were to be greedy I also would have like if they added both the oracle games).

Re: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl Trailer Shows Off Bad Guys, Gyms, And DLC

SilentHunter382

I won't be getting it until I see if it has platinum heavy content. I don't mind it having D/P content on top of that but won't be getting it day one as that is when FF14 expansion is released for early access and I will be far more focused on that then BDSP but the odds will be high that I will get it before the end of the year so I will still be able to take advantage of the extra stuff.

Re: GTA Trilogy's Physical Edition On Switch Appears To Require A Download

SilentHunter382

Unless the EU version is different then this is out of the question for me to buy the physical version. Now I don't mind day one patch that adds more storage but aslong as all 3 games are fully playable (as in you can play them even if there are performance issues that the patch fixes) then that is fine with me.

There are a few exceptions to this. DOOM now if I didn't own it on PC and wanted to get it Physical then that is the correct way in doing it. Have the SP on the cartridge but have the Multiplayer portion as the download.

Re: Poll: N64 And Sega Genesis Nintendo Switch Online Games Launch Today - Which Will You Play First?

SilentHunter382

@Clyde_Radcliffe Ya I understand when you break it down it is cheap but now that its pricing is almost on par with xbox live and PS+ you have to start and see what they are offering vs what Nintendo is offering with their expansion pass add on (yes it is still cheaper but it is so close to their price now).

For example overall the online service is just abysmal on the switch vs what xbox and playstation is offering. Sure online stability varies from game to game but still bad on game like smash. It has no native VC and Messaging system.

The other systems are offering more modern games each month (lowest offering is xbox 360 for xbox and ps4 for playstation). While Nintendo highest is N64 games. Nintendo really needs to start rolling out games for each system they have monthly. Sure they have the free trial system but that all that is a free trial for x amount of time but still nice to have.

Xbox and PS also at times offer additionally discount prices on games that are already on sale but this isn't too much of a big deal and can just discount this with the NSO cheaper price.

The animal crossing DLC seems to be the biggest issues. If you are still playing animal crossing then that is great then the price is more justified but if you stopped playing animal crossing or never got it then you are playing just for N64 and mega drive/genisis games and for the price it really isn't worth it for people based on the poll.

I for one won't be jumping into the expansion pass (I don't see myself even renew the base NSO when it expires in Janurary) until they add more games and I see them adding games for each system each month (I think 2 per system is about right per month to make it worth while).

Re: Poll: The Hype For Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy Is High, Is It In Your Switch Plans?

SilentHunter382

Tbh I have all gtas on pc (including the original soundtrack versions on steam) and I am tempted to get it on switch also depending on a number of factors.

  • Are the 3 games on the cart without having to download a patch to access any of them.
  • The performance of the switch version. If they maintain a steady 30fps then that increases the odds of me getting it.
  • Has the original Soundtrack for all 3 games. If it doesn't then I wouldn't get the trilogy for any system.

I don't mind double dipping on the switch for the Trilogy but the above factors will play a big part for me if I am getting it day one, on sale or never buying it.

Re: Talking Point: How Many Hours Is A 'Short' Game For You?

SilentHunter382

For me even though I voted 6 hours and under. It all depends on the Price and Genre of the game. Like if a game is €15 and the game is 4 hours but those 4 hours are good then I wouldn't call it a short game as the price was fair for the length of the game.

But again it all depends on how good the game is in those short hours. For example, South Park: Stick of truth is around 20 hours and that is short for an RPG at €60 when it was released but those 20 hours were fantastic and made up for the price. Could it have been longer. Ya it could have been but would adding more hours to the game make it even better or worse.

Again long games aren't always better. There are games that can overstay their welcome and that can end up making the game worse.

Re: Random: Uh-Oh, Nintendo's Switch Online 'Expansion Pack - Overview Trailer' Is Generating A Lot Of Dislikes

SilentHunter382

The problem is that the pricing is overpriced. Now when you look at the competition vs what you are getting with the expansion pass it really isn't good.

Sure it is still a small bit cheaper then gold/ps+ but look at what they offer.

  • 3 - 4 free games each month with the oldest games being 360 games for xbox and ps4 games for ps+.
  • Exclusive discounts on games or even more of a saving on games that are already on sale from time to time
  • The online stability is better overall on the other systems then what is on switch. (now this is still a problem even at the base price but many including myself were will to somewhat overlook it because of what the base price cost)
  • Voice chat and messaging from the console itself instead of needing to use a phone app which only allows it for a small number of games.

Now there are other issues i have with things like the AC dlc but that is more of a middle ground issue as if you still play AC then that does make the price a little better but if you don't play AC or have stopped playing it then it doesn't help with the price.

Nintendo really needs to step up there game if they need to make the price more justifiable. From when this expansion pass is released I would like to see them add games to each system monthly (like 2 games per system would be fine with me but alt versions of games don't count) instead of this drip feed they have been doing. But they need to keep with this going forward.

Re: Metroid Dread Staff Say They've Been Left Out Of The Game's Credits, MercurySteam Responds

SilentHunter382

TBH the 25% of the development time is kinda BS really. You might only be there a month and could have made massive amount of progress for the company but since you weren't there for 25% of the development no credit for you. I have heard one story where a new person came into the project and everything was in shambles on how things where going. So he changed things with the engine they were using and with those changes made working on the project so much easier for the development team.

Now I can see that for some people that it can be a vanity thing and that is true but for others it more of building your profolio. It may not be much but if you are young every project matters that you are credited in.

Re: Bandai Namco Is Changing Its Logo In 2022

SilentHunter382

I don't hate the new logo. The problem is that it is boring. I understand that minimalist is the new approach but sometimes you lose an logo that casuals won't know at a glance.

That said they really should have gone with an orange colour and not pink around the name.

Re: Review: UnMetal - A Surprisingly Robust Metal Gear Parody Brimming With Ideas

SilentHunter382

@JokerCK "How is this cons?Just because you didn't like it must be con"

But if Stuart finds something that they didn't like or find not funny then it should be a con since a review is a person opinion on said product. If you were reviewing this game and you loved the jokes then that would be a positive for you. So you just take that con and put it into the positive and add a point to the score.

Re: Review: Castlevania Advance Collection - Utterly Essential Thanks To Aria Of Sorrow

SilentHunter382

I have bought the collection but I haven't started any of the games yet as I want to know of the 2 is the better version. The american version or the European version (or even the Japanese version if it has english translation). I don't really care about name change but are differences with each game.

Reason I am asking this is that I don't want to start with one version only to then find out that the other version is better as the save files don't transfer between versions.

Re: The Super Mario Movie's Release Date And Cast Are Revealed

SilentHunter382

Some of the casting choice to me are good picks while others are just not great like Chris as Mario. Not saying he is a bad actor far from it but sometimes an actor or actress doesn't work for some roles.

But who knows Chris could surprise us all. I have been shock by some casting choice in the past where I thought the actor wouldn't fit the role well and was blown away by their performance of the character what they did a very good job on it. And others where I thought the actor was perfect for the role and imo they bomb hard as the character.

Re: How To Use Bluetooth Headphones On Switch - Connect AirPods To Nintendo Switch

SilentHunter382

@thinkhector Ah don't blame you for thinking that as I didn't explain myself on that. I am using the Steelseries Wireless Pro and that comes with a wireless base station which is connect to my PC and there is a button on the headset that turns on bluetooth which I can now connect to my switch.

So I can say play a video on youtube on my PC and play on my switch and the audio from both systems will come through the headset at the same time.

Re: UK Retailer Currys Had A Metroid Dread Deal That Was Too Good To Be True

SilentHunter382

@Scapetti I would only use it for games that are Digital only or work well for digital only. For now I only see the Famicom Detective games that interest me anything else I already own physical.

Oh you have to buy both games at once. I assumed that you buy the vouchers and then you can just buy the games from the list whenever you want within one year of buying the vouchers.

EDIT: I just checked there and you don't have to use it at once. You can use the one voucher straight away and use the other voucher another time (within the year).
