Re: Square Enix Details Current Issues And Future Of New Switch Racer Chocobo GP

SilentHunter382

From what games that I have played and seen the only game that has done the season pass model correctly is "The Master Chief Collection". Every time you rank up you earn a token.

Then you can use that token on any of the season pass that have been released. Each season pass has a tier which contain 10 items and you can pick any item you want in that tier but you can only progress to the next tier until you got all the items in that tier.

Sure it isn't perfect but you gain experience by doing anything in the game either story or multiplayer and there are new challenges each week for both.

To me this is how you do a battle pass in a fully priced game. Oh and the battles passes are free in the game.

Re: Soapbox: Why Can't Nintendo Offer Both Virtual Console And Switch Online?

SilentHunter382

I have no problem with the subscription service but only alongside a purchase model.

Yes I understand that this is becoming the new norm as other companies are doing the sub model but here is the thing. They also offer the ability to allow you to purchase the game also. I think the only exception is Sony with PS3 games with their PSNow.

What they could do is they want people to be on the sub model but allow people to purchase the game is to allow a cool off period where it is only available on NSO for "X" amount of time before it becomes available to purchase.

Re: Soapbox: NSO Isn't Game Pass, But Nintendo Is Learning The Benefits Of Subscription Models

SilentHunter382

While adding things is always good they do need to speed up the rate they are being released. Yes adding new DLC to the service is a big plus but they do need to add more to the N64 and Mega drive (Even more systems also). Also adding games on a Month to Month bases like what the other system do but I am not expecting the same amount they offer. 1 game a month would be fine (either Triple A or Indie) considering the systems Nintendo have for their Online. Allow us to keep the game as long as you have the sub but lose access to it when your sub runs out (but regain it again when you resub).

I can see them phasing out the cheaper plan and just go all in with the expansion pass also with their next system. When that times comes then they need to add at all the quality of life features that the other systems have and not through your phone.

Now I am not against having the phone app as a social hub for Nintendo games and using your phone to chat faster in animal crossing is a great way of using the systems as an extension

Re: Are Complaints About Pokémon Legends: Arceus' Graphics Fair? Digital Foundry Digs In

SilentHunter382

TBH with the few hours I have had with the game (Been playing it in docked mode) the graphics aren't as bad as I thought they would be. Sure there is jank but it isn't that bad.

My issue is with the frame rate. I know that this can be fixed in Portable mode but I play my switch 99% of the time docked anyway.

But with the changes they have done with the game I am fine with the graphics as this is a great step as a sideline game. This is how I wanted an open-world (even though it is really more closed off open world) and I hope they expand on this but I would still like the main line games to play the same way (as in random encounters and gyms).

Re: Random: Here's The Nintendo Switch-Like Steam Deck Compared To Some Other Stuff

SilentHunter382

The people who are saying that it will be a switch rival are just wishful thinking at this stage.

For me I main on PC and I am getting then Steam Deck but I am seeing it as an extension to play most of my PC games in a portable fashion. Not all games will run optimal and later down the line (a few years) the steam deck will suffer just like the switch.

My only concern is Valve's track record with hardware. They have released many hardwares overs the years but their support hasn't been the best. The steam machines are really a grey area as those were licensed out rather then Valve doing it themselfs. The Index is really their first hardware that they showed support for. If the steam deck sells really well then we might see a update in hardware for it in the future.

Re: Popular Video Game Music YouTube Channel Receives 1,300 Copyright Claims From Nintendo

SilentHunter382

@SuperZeldaFun I am not going to lie and say I not used that site or even abandonedware cause I have for many games (until they re-released the game again or add it to GOG for which I will buy them so that I own them legit) but I will only do this for games when there is no means for me to buy a game that will lead to the owners of said product to receive money.

Still how many ordinary people who aren't as tech savvy know about these sights and will try and look on more established sites like Youtube or Spotify to find the songs they are looking for.

Re: Popular Video Game Music YouTube Channel Receives 1,300 Copyright Claims From Nintendo

SilentHunter382

I am split in the middle as Nintendo needs to do this if they want to keep their rights to the Copyright.

BUT the problem is that Nintendo doesn't offer a way for people to easily access these songs/music. Same goes for their old games that they own the IP's too.

So if people want to access these by other means then I feel that they should be allowed too as Nintendo themself aren't going to bother too.

Re: This Unofficial Zelda PC Port Is About '90% Complete', Say Devs

SilentHunter382

For the people who are still saying that Nintendo are still going to send a C&D. The only way for them to do that is if the code they are providing contains any code that belongs to Nintendo.

Back on the NES. Tengen reversed engineered the lockout chip and were able to sell games themself on the NES without having to go through Nintendo.

Now how they did was they illegal obtained the lockout chip code and reversed engineered that way. By doing it this way they had unused Nintendo code in their RE code so that is how Nintendo were able to get them in court.

If these guys are able to do this without using any shenanigans above and is 100% their code then there is nothing Nintendo co do about it. If Tengen RE the lockout chip themself and was 100% their code then Nintendo wouldn't be able to sue them.

Re: The Pokémon Company Sets Its Sights On YouTube Videos Of The Fan-Made 'Pokémon FPS'

SilentHunter382

@RR529
I am certain they don't monetizes the DBZA videos (Though I am not sure about the 3D shorts) as they have a disclaimer at the beginning of each video that this is an non-profit (Even though they have a patreon but that is a grey area as they do other stuff that isn't DBZ related but you can argue they are profiting from it). If they have ads on the videos then it wouldn't have been TFS themself as TOEI could claim the videos but leave them up with ads on which the money from those ads would go to them.

Re: Surprise! Dragon Ball FighterZ Is Adding Another DLC Character

SilentHunter382

@AugustusOxy "That's nice, xenoverse 2 is like 5 years old and it's still getting dlc. At this rate the power rangers fighting game has had more DLC fighters added to it than smash has. Sakurai should be embarrassed."

There is a difference between the way Smash released their fighters compared to others. With others you might get maybe a handful of new stages with other fighting games while with smash you got a new stage for every fighter that got added.

Re: Talking Point: Should The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Library Expand Faster?

SilentHunter382

@Gamer_Zeus The problem with putting a price on the games is that it will very from person to person it value if it is worth €50 or not. Just saying that it has a value of €270 really means nothing to some who may only like 1 game from service.

I am on Humble bundle monthly and I don't look at what the games are valued at as I won't be playing all of the games I just see what the games I am interested in are worth the sub cost for that month. If there is only 1 game I am interested in but it cost lest then the sub price then I don't care if the whole package value is €120 for €15 a month if the game I am interested in I can get for €9.

Re: Talking Point: Should The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Library Expand Faster?

SilentHunter382

@Gamer_Zeus While I understand why you think that but you really should compare them since they are close in price now.

When it was €20 for a year then you couldn't really compare them because of the big price difference.

With NSO expansion price there are now into the comparing zone. If you could only sub to 1 service if you own a switch and a ps4/5 or an xbox. Most people will pick the later as it offers far more features then what the switch offers. Like not needing an external device to take with people on the same console as you. Extra discount of games from time to time.

Now there is 1 benefit the switch has with them offering their games vs xbox live and ps+ is that you don't have that FOMA issue. It doesn't matter when you join NSO you have access to all game at launch while with the others you missed out on games that you could have gotten for free if you were subbed at the time.

The reason you have to compare them is to see what is offering better value. Same goes for video streaming services. You have to compare them to see which one is offering the better value as many can't sub to all of them.

Re: Talking Point: Should The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Library Expand Faster?

SilentHunter382

They need to add more. The way I see it is that with the price of the expansion now they need to atleast off 1 game to each system. Now I can understand the Mega Drive may miss some months as it isn't their system But for the others it is a must.

What they should do is get the third party ones in first when they can secure the license for it to be on their. If they are unable to get a third party game for the system then they can fall back to one of their first party games.

Re: Talking Point: Great Game, Poor Performance - When Does A Bad Frame Rate Not Really Matter?

SilentHunter382

For me when a game requires fast movement, aiming or platform jumping then those games need to have a stable 60fps option at the cost of graphics.

When it is a menu based game like a turn based game then I am not so picky on the frame rate but that depends on the type of turnbased though. If it Final Fantasy games then it needs to be atleast a stable 30fps with the exception of 1-3 and 10 where I don't mind it as much as you can take your time with your actions.

Re: Best Pokémon Games Of All Time

SilentHunter382

@Curator While there are better games then Sun and Moon the problem is that they came out less then a year later. There wasn't a massive amount of changes done to the game and the retold story is worst then S/M in some aspects. I think the major problems with those games was that they were enhanced versions but were sold as 2 games rather then 1 like all other enhanced versions.

@somnambulance I main problem with the Let's Go series is the way they made you catch pokemon. If you love that idea then that is fantastic and I am glad that you were able to enjoy the series where I wasn't able too.

Re: The Pokémon Diamond And Pearl Remakes Have Been Updated To Version 1.1.1, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

SilentHunter382

@johnvboy Just on the side of patching a game it can be a double edge sword. Yes it is a good thing that devs can easily patch out bugs or add real dlc to extend a game but it can also allow for lazy development and have the attitude of "eh we can just released it now and patch it in a month". But it is far more of a pro then a con even though the con has been showing up alot more lately with big AAA games.
