@Not_Soos Plaudits to you for highlighting this. Just goes to show how long it takes to develop these things. I went on the Mariokart ride in LA and it was OK but serious teething problems.

AI is of course not inherently 'good' or 'evil', it's just another tool. If it can speed up envelopment of a game or cut out a lot of mundane grunt work then surely that's a good thing? He's not saying they instructing it to 'make a new Final Fantasy game' and then leaving the AI program to do whatever it likes lol.

It was always gonna be this way as long as it was a fan service movie and it totally is. Delivered on every level and hit the sweet spot for old and young alike. Genius work really.

I really do think that Nintendo Life got it seriously wrong with this one. This is a love letter to Mario games past and present and for a Nintendo website, I’m amazed that there was none of the excitement or the euphoria that so many of us felt watching the movie. When broadsheets are dishing out 2 star reviews for a film clearly not aimed at them, I’m a bit stunned that the NL reviewer just didn’t seem to ‘get it’ like those critics when Kotaku and IGN totally did. Bizarre.

@IronMan30 Ugh so true. With an audience score in the 90s it’s sad to see NL jump on board with the bashing when the movie is an (albeit safe) celebration of all that is Nintendo. Surely they could have found a staff member that was actually into it? Bit of a shame really.

Oh hell yes to a Metroid akin to XCOM. I only came to XCOM on the Switch and DEVOURED it! Sci-fi interplanetary wars with familiar tunes? HELL YEAH!

@ludotaku Yes definitely the Switch 2 or the Super Switch. Simple marketing, sequels and backwards compatible. Wii U could have been a completely different story if they'd just called it Wii 2 and marketed it as such.

There's so much out and we'd rather it was later and another masterpiece. These things take time so it has to be perfect. We'll get another trailer and a title this year though.

The game looks great! I hope the Switch doesn't lose too much in translation. Thank you for the comment at the start Nintendo Life, not even mentioning the creator in question by name - ergo making her akin the very baddie she created - is comment enough. You reap what you sow sadly and hopefully it won't affect the sales of the game too much as it looks magical.

Why can't we have a new one???! With crisp amazing graphics and music. Even a story mode etc. COME ON NINTENDO.

@GrailUK Totally! Would rather wait til next year if it means the game is a groundbreaking classic that sells by the bucketload or just mediocre and rushed out.

I love all the game production experts in the comments! The pic looks awesome and atmospheric and clearly it's coming along nicely. The team will obviously already have artists on it so jumping to bizarre conclusions because a company is hiring isn't really very logical. Calm down peeps, we'll get our game when it's good n' ready!

These games and the MK8D tracks have more than convinced me to get the Expansion Pass so good on them. Actually looks like amazing value now. Just Mother 3 please!! Maybe they are saving it for something special...

Just like art-house movies, Metroid is a passion project I think and while it doesn't match the crazy sales of the others, Nintendo knows the series is beloved. I agree with some others though, if they popped out an F-Zero, they have this plus 100m fanbase now that would mean any game was a success surely. Use this chance to resurrect some old IPs etc!

Agree with most. Definitely need swimming underwater, a greater array of meals which do a variety of things but please NO TINGLE! Creepy AND annoying haha.

Hmm I think saying FF Tactics or Tactics Ogre inspired is a little misleading as they are both strategy games and this looks like a platformer? Just sayin' lol

@Bentendo1609 Agreed. Literally why would they bother when it's still number one all over the world? It's the epitome of MK racing so Nintendo clearly are better off working on other stuff right now.

I'm not really a Pokemon fan but my boyfriend is, a massive one in fact. He had an air of disappointment about Sword/Shield which became a full on fog with Shining Pearl. What gets me is that they make literally billions so surely the games should be incredible? Is it that they don't put enough time into them like a Nintendo core series like Zelda? I keep saying to him that Arceus could be Pokemon's BOTW but has it been in development long enough? I hope for every Pokemon lover out there that it is as incredible as it ought to be.

LOVE X-tina and love the ad. Classic old school Ninty promo hitting Gen-X and Gen-Z and bringing that family vibe. People these days are always up for negging on anything positive but I think the Nintendo community are better than that.

Of course it's just a cash-in mocking people who believe that claptrap but sadly it's all too real for a lot of misinformed people who've disappeared down the rabbit hole. @soupwoman I completely agree. I'd have even taken remixes of the classic Super Metroid tracks. Just needed some good bangers in there and it would be perfection. Well I wouldn't have minded it being a bit longer too lol but it's a stunning game.

Yeah they are very Final Fantasy Tactics lite. They scratch an itch but always leave me feeling a bit meh. Will defo give the new one a go if it's an improvement (and it's cheap).

Sounds like Mercury Steam have some HR issues to address! Of course it won't reflect sales and won't change my mind on getting the game but I do agree that maybe Nintendo should just buy them seeing as they clearly like their work. Change things from the ground up then. Other than that, HR problems aren't going to change my enjoyment of a game I've been waiting for for YEARS.

Hands down - with the marketing push and the Switch user base, this will be the best selling entry in the Metroid series BY FAR.

So excited for Metroid. I think with the GIANT Switch userbase, the awesome look of the game and the hype it will easily be the best selling Metroid game of all time. Even if only 10% of Switch owners bought it, that's 9 million copies.

I LOVED it on the Wii, had no issues with camera or motion controls. It's a beautifully crafted game and has so many ideas that were clearly developed and improved for BOTW. I still have my copy too so probably won't get it on the Switch but if anyone hasn't played, it's amazing and well worth it.

@RantingThespian Agree with all that you said. I don't think I'll get it just yet as there's no change to docked play which I do a lot as well. The screen looks lovely but I don't need a second switch lol. Metroid Dread however is a day one purchase.

It's not really capitalism, it's just taking advantage of people during a difficult time. Amazon shut down companies who were inflating the prices of PPE and hand sanitiser so how is this different?
