Zen Studios and Saber Interactive have announced a brand new tactical RPG, Circus Electrique, which is set to launch on Switch and other platforms in 2022.
A turn-based affair, this brand new IP is set in a Victorian steampunk London and is said to be "part story-driven RPG, part tactics, and part circus management." Here's a description of what you can expect:
When everyday Londoners mysteriously turn into vicious killers, only the circus’ lineup of Strongmen, Fire Blowers, Clowns and other performers possess the unique talents necessary to save the city.
Through tactical turn-based battles, these unlikely heroes will face Bobbies, British Sailors gone bad, aggressive Posh Girls, and other Victorian-era archetypes standing in their way – not to mention the occasional menacing Mime or Robobear. The game’s innovative Devotion morale system affects characters’ performance not only in battles, but also in actual circus shows, dutifully managed between heroic jaunts through six sprawling districts.
Interested? Then get a load of these first official screenshots and a feature list to tell you even more:
Key Features:
Electrifying RPG Combat: Test the skills of Strongmen, Fire Blowers, Escape Artists, Clowns, and other classic circus performers – there are 14 playable archetypes total, each with deep tactical options in battle. Assemble the most ideal combination of acrobatic artists to fight against over-the-top enemies.
Manage the Greatest Show in Steampunk London: Despite the chaos, the show must go on! Rebuild the circus to its former greatness and beyond, recruiting and training the most talented performers from all over the world. Performers’ skill, chemistry with one another, and overall Devotion combine to determine the success of a single show – and you’ll need every single spare Shilling you can get to keep everyone paid and happy.
A Circus Like No Other: Immerse yourself in a striking world based on vintage circus posters, Victorian-era archetypes and classic steampunk charm.
We'll make sure to keep an eye out for more news on this one as we enter the new year, but until that 2022 launch comes around, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.

This has been on my radar for a while. Day 1 purchase for me.
Concept is cool, setting is cool, animations look a little sluggish, graphics look a tad uninspired and the trailer has zero energy. I had an idea of what I wanted, so far this isn't it.
Looks very original! I like that
Saber Interactive will always be on my radar on the Switch. I anticipate it will be polished to a glossy shine, anyway.
I don’t love the art style but I can appreciate them trying something different.
Well I like the art style it seems to fit well with the setting. Sort of a BioShock/Dishonored look.dumping this on my short list.
might be cool. I like the visuals
idk - not my cup of tea - i rather play triangle strategy
Love a good strategy game but nothing in that trailer looked like a good strategy game. I hope I'm wrong as it could have potential.
I have an issue with the lighting and the colors. If this is circus themed, it's a very depressing one
Doesn't look that bad but I still need to see more to be interested.
I dig the art style, but the crappy animation kills it. Looks like one of those old web based Flash games. Changing from a single still frame of art to a 2nd slightly modified still frame of art doesn't qualify as "animation".
It's a good concept that needs better execution.
I'm really liking this idea, and I think it meshes well with the dark Victorian/steampunk theme. Definitely one to keep an eye on!
Ooh yeah sign me up!
