I think Nintendo has leaned too much into the warriors games in general.

MP4 is a game that deserves better, but has a number of issues that undermine its core mechanics that holds it back from true greatness.

Truth be told, I never took it out of the box.

This is the kind of retro look I love.

@JohnnyMind I wasn't implying the site shouldn't have reviewed it whenever the review was ready. It is surprising that the release lags months behind in some places—I wouldn't consider something available in two months elsewhere soon, but that's me.

Hard to believe this warrants a Switch 2 physical release. What read speeds could these ancient games require?

@kal_el_07241 they would probably have to pay to resubmit it and it wouldn’t change the actual rating since there are other M themes, so they probably figure why bother?

You had me at “lack of gameplay not for everyone “. This type of game and the “walking sim” are not what I want in a video game.

Not a shock considering 2k25 is already on it.

@SillyG I know what you’re saying, but I haven’t seen anywhere where that has been stated for digital versions of the game, only the cartridges.

@SillyG What are you talking about? A Switch 2 Edition is the same as an native version for Switch 2.

I both don’t care and also don’t get it. Hard to believe it isn’t required by MLB.

What’s it going to take to get a plain Direct or Indie Direct with a bunch of upcoming games?

MS sits on a trove of already-made games that are suitable for the Switch 2 that I am more interested in. Lets see how their ports of current-gen games that are announced turn out.

@HolyGeez03 They released another Mario Party since Superstars (Jamboree, plus a S2 version with some new content), so I wouldn't get your hopes up on any older MP titles getting new content.

@LastFootnote Glad you're excited to revisit this one (or play it for the first time). Wish I felt the same way, but I've already played it on a base Switch and unless the new levels are actually challenging (something only a handful were in the base game), this is an easy pass for me.

If you're not into sports/tennis, I could see why you wouldn't care about Mario Tennis Fever. The Yoshi game gets a pass from me since it seems aimed at a younger audience (and we haven't seen much from it regardless). More game announcements are coming.

@Waluigi451 it’s DLC plus an upgrade, so I wouldn’t expect it to be under $20.

Possibly the least exciting first party release of the year.

@Scarmucci probably a reference to the first iteration being released complete, while this one is still unfinished. Also, the title of this is "REMAKE", which doesn't tell people who don't know a lot about this version of FFVII that it is the first of three games in a trilogy.

@Polvasti Supposedly a lot of the install size is the language packs. Regardless, SE hasn't put a single game on cartridge for Switch 2, so let's not pretend they ever considered it.

Maybe he can convince them to put BG3 on Switch 2.

7/10. Great bones, and I was fine with the individual biomes, but it doesn’t come together. Scanning stuff for lore and all the hand-holding really drag it down. Forced backtracking to unlock an upgrade in your possession is bad design.

@martynstuff Factor 5 basically died after ditching Nintendo to put LAIR exclusively on PS3.

I wish nothing bad for him, but man does he come off as someone whose ego is undeservedly overinflated.

Wow, you guys can write about something and "bleep" out the words we all know were used, but will delete comments that rightly call out what is happening to EA because...? You don't like someone using an acronym that means something vulgar?

Overlooked? No, we expected it back when it released and then heard squat about it until now.

Investors are always about what someone has done for them lately. Perhaps they should take a look around and see what state the world economy is in due to bad economic policies and rising autocracies.

I'm primarily a Switch 2 gamer, and don't think I've purchased a SEGA game on another console in quite some time—not that I purchase a lot of their games to begin with.

I will purchase at launch to show support for a third party doing things the right way (even though they’ve done plenty of GKC releases so far).

Thanks, but no thanks. Great for newcomers, but not worth the price of admission for a bunch of MP-focused content on the easiest Mario game of the century.

This isn’t strictly a Nintendo problem, but they are probably the ones who should have addressed this years ago and haven’t.

@TheSaneInsanity IF the woman is real, then more than likely she is holding nothing and they "fixed" the image by manipulating it and contorting her thumb (or they didn't like the way it was photographed and this was the fix).

Was always surprised they never tried to put the originals on the first Switch.

@acNewUpdates when SW: Outlaws released on GKC, someone from Ubisoft said the read speed of the S2 cartridge wasn't fast enough for the loading and that was why it was on a GKC and not a cartridge.

If that's true, allowing installs from the a cheaper Switch 1 cartridge would reduce the upfront cost and allow for the full game to be put on one.

This release is a GKC release. The reason is some combination of:

TPC cheaping out on the cartridge for an unproven spinoff series.

The game requires the faster read speed of the internal drive (if what the Ubi dev said is true).

The size of the game is so small that someone decided it wasn't worth the upfront cost of the S2 cartridge to put it out that way, so let's use the GKC and maybe as an added benefit we'll push people to the eShop instead of a physical release and make more money.

For the player, the benefit is the full game is still on the cartridge, but like other current consoles, the game is installed so it is better optimized/runs better due to internal drive read speed. Installation might also be faster and wouldn't count against your data cap, if you are in an area where those exist.

Would rather they put the full game on the cartridge and require an install.

@SplatRay001 missed the stuff on the summer wave, which is the stuff you’re describing.

The first wave doesn’t sound like it has any of this in it.

All the sets they announced—despite their prices—are aimed at kids. Nothing I’ve read about the Pokémon sets have mentioned the smart bricks, and sound more geared towards AFOL/18+ builds.

edit: the summer wave is when the smart brick Pokémon sets are allegedly coming.

@Qwiff I played this exclusively on S2; the backtracking still sucks, and the load times felt long, but I played on cartridge.
