Re: US Retailers Are Playing With Fire With More Switch 2 Cancellations

@BoilerBroJoe

You can criticize them all the time. They all suck for different reasons. The article doesn’t criticize them at all; it states what is happening.

There are only a handful of retailers carrying preorders in the US, so unless the market diversifies, you won’t have much of a choice the next time around.

@AstroTheGamosian

The headline doesn’t imply that. The subhead almost mocks what is happening using a Seinfeld reference. And the article never makes any of those points you made.

If the writer wanted to say what you said, they should have said that instead of relying on a turn of phrase. The rest of the phrase is, “you’re going to get burned.” You can infer a lot of different meanings from that. The goal should be clarity, not ambiguity.

Re: A New 3D Metroidvania Has Been Confirmed For Switch 2

I like the visual design of the game, but it's hard to believe this trailer will generate the kind of attention they want. All of the movement looks stiff and stilted, like a bunch of pre-canned animations strung together instead of fluid and full of life.

Re: Opinion: Upgraded For Switch 2, ARMS Deserves A Second Shot At Greatness

Haven’t played it before, and doubt I’ll pick it up now. I’m not sure how Nintendo picked this handful of games out as the ones to launch the system with, but there are a couple head scratchers.

I’m surprised more recent games aren’t included on the list yet, but hopefully they’re working on boosting all first party games, especially ones with unstable frame rates.

Re: Ubisoft's Switch 2 Physical Release Of Star Wars Outlaws Is A "Game-Key Card"

@vincentgoodwin

I don’t disagree with any of your points, except the issue is the file sizes. Now, you’re not only spending the $70/80 on a game, the system only has 256GB of internal storage.

Basically 4 AAA third party games, based off the file sizes announced for some of them.

The express cards to expand internal memory aren’t cheap (compared to the original Switch options), and we’re going to either pay that, or end up redownloading games constantly, based on what we know about the system.

Re: ICYMI: 12 Switch Games Will Receive Free Switch 2 Upgrades

It’s surprising to me that the console is using emulation to run OG Switch games and doesn’t have a built in way to boost performance the way XBox does. If Switch 2 is capable of boosting performance without a patch/update, they haven’t highlighted that fact at all.

Re: Video: 20+ Things We Still Don't Know About Switch 2

For games released on both consoles, will Switched 2 cartridges allow the Switch 1 version of the game to be played on Switch 1? I think it could work as a key that authorizes a download, but the cartridge would not work.

Same question, but for digital versions of games with dual releases.

Will they sell Switch 2 without the dock?

Re: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 Has Been Butchered For The Switch Remake

@Toastmaster When you can wait for the games to cost as much as a month of your subscription, that’s why.

I don’t have most of those subscriptions you mentioned. I also never subscribed to any of those services for the “free” games included.

GPU was great back before the Activision Blizzard King purchase, but the cost is too high for the value I was getting out of it.

Re: Nintendo's Switch 2 Announcement Reportedly Impacted Steam Deck Sales

Res462

I've never been a huge PC gamer, so my Steam library is only a handful of games. Had they launched around the same time, I probably would've purchased a Switch and Steam Deck due to Steam sales, but they didn't, and my library on the Switch ensures that it's the main console for me (until the Switch 2 releases).

I'd consider one of the other PC handhelds for 3rd party games/MS/Sony first party, but as time is my most limited resource, I'm holding off for now.

Re: Nacon Expects Switch 2 To Launch In The First Half Of Next Fiscal Year

@mariomaster96 not only momentum, but overall revenue being down from people waiting for the next thing to come out and holding off on purchasing a console until then. Can't see Nintendo showing off Switch 2 and launching it eight months later.

Products don't need that long to generate buzz, and launching it during non-peak (not Holiday) season allows them to build up to the first major holiday of the Switch 2's lifespan.
