Discoverability is always a problem for any kind of entertainment.
The eShop is not the only way to promote your game. I don’t just go browsing the eShop for a game to buy—I hear about a game, add it to my wish list or look it up, etc.
Even if people are buying your game at deep discounts, that doesn’t mean they’re playing it. When things are a buck or two, I’m sure some people just buy it because it’s so cheap. The glut of great games on Switch is real. So is the backlog.
No, it’s not. It has gameplay, something a majority of walking sims lack. Walking Sims are barely games at all, tend to be generally linear, and rely on a narrative hook over meaningful mechanics. All you do in a walking sim is walk around looking for button prompts.
Stop trying to compare 3DS graphics to Full HD ones. AAA Games are getting bigger. They cost more. And they take longer to develop. Whether some of these trends, like longer length, are good or even necessary is worthy of discussion. This is not, in my opinion. Their software output is on pace with or exceeds their peers this generation, which should is the best point of comparison.
Making HD games is a lot more time consuming than producing 3DS-level graphics. Getting teams up to speed takes time. AAA games have never taken longer to make.
Naughty Dog released the Uncharted trilogy and Last of Us during the PS3. For the PS4, only one title in each series, and now they’re moving on to PS5.
There was no new GTA this generation. Just a port with some new features.
Compared to their peers, I bet their Publishing output exceeds everyone, even if you exclude ports.
Starlink is just okay. While it makes a great first impression, There’s not a lot of variety in the gameplay. Fly to an area on the map, strafe around enemies time kill them, have a generic conversation, repeat. The space dogfighting is pretty similar. Take Star Fox out and the game would be forgettable. I enjoyed SF0 more, even if there’s less content.
The rumored Grand Prix game was being developed by Retro, iirc. They’ve been silent since DKTF, which was released well before they were given the keys to MP4.
The body content of both reviews should state the reasoning. Summaries leave out the nuance. Also, it’s an opinion. Who cares how someone else feels about something if you enjoy it?
@Chibi_Manny From a player perspective, I don’t care if someone chooses to cheapen the experience for themselves. That’s on them.
Instead of trying to control the way people play the game, they ought to be focusing on quality of life improvements to the game. Crafting is cumbersome. Some of the dialogue options could be improved. Having to claim the bonus nook miles stuff is just extra button presses that could be changed with notifications.
Most of the rare bugs were already pretty rare to begin with, so nerfing them is only going to negatively impact casual players. Time travelers will find a new way to exploit the game.
As with all things, intent matters. It’s clear this person never intended to follow through. So then, what’s the point? Screwing with other people for LOLz?
I’ve held off on buying it due to the issues the community said were present. When they announced the last patch was it, the feedback sounded like they hadn’t done enough, and the devs shrugged.
Unless there is a new patch coming that actually fixes the outstanding issues, the article had no new information. Sounds like it’s the same version currently on the eShop.
The obvious solution to this, if Nintendo cares, would be an opt-in for sharing an island on a console. While this is in the spirit of the game since forever, I’m sure a lot of people are either unaware of this caveat, or are aware and don’t appreciate it.
And sure, you can’t please everyone. But this seems like something that isn’t a big deal from a developmental standpoint, a fix that could be addressed if they so choose to.
@Glassneedles I don't remember the exact topics it was associated with, but something along those lines. I looked up the story because I thought there was more to it than was 'reported' here, and rather than clicking on the first article, I looked a little further.
@luke88 Yes, according to Palmer, he was fired for political reasons (donating to an anti-Hilary group).
That’s not the whole story, which may or may not involve Oculus losing a half billion in litigation with Zenimax. I guess it depends on if you think Luckey is a credible source for truth.

Adding it to the wishlist, which is getting to be like the Energizer bunny.
Re: Roguelike Dungeon Crawler Hades Hacks 'N Slashes Its Way To Switch This Fall
I was hoping for some Spelunky news and had forgotten all about this game. Glad it’s on its way to Switch.

3DS doesn’t have clickable thumb sticks. That’s why the JoyCons tend to wear out IIRC.
Re: Braid Is Coming To Nintendo Switch Next Year
Alright, so I guess that means it's not too late for Spelunky to come out on Switch.

Re: Review: The Outer Worlds - Obsidian's Fallout-Style RPG Is Worth A Look On Switch
@StevenG Not going to happen, especially on Switch, given how reluctant publishers are to use properly sized cartridges for games.
Even Witcher 3 on Switch—which shipped on the 32gb cart— has had multiple sizable patches.

I love From and the games they make, but they don’t seem to optimize games on any system, even when they’re exclusive.

From what I found as their quote to the last patch they put out—in 2018.
“We released a patch and we did our best to make it work. If you want to play it or not it is your choice.”
They haven’t fixed it.
Re: Murder Mystery Game The Sexy Brutale Gets Physical On Switch
Unless they plan on fixing the issues that still plague it, why bother?
Re: Aeterna: Noctis Is A New Metroidvania Aiming For A Release On Switch

No, but the art styles and use of lighting/foreground/background are reminiscent of HK. I haven’t played another game with its visual style.
