Re: Select Super Mario LEGO Sets Appear To Be 'Retiring Soon'

@Tharsman

I guess it depends what you’re looking at.

Star Wars stuff, with the exception of exclusives like the Razor Crest, seem to get marked down across the board. Kyle Ren’s shuttle is $104 on Amazon. Poe’s X-Wing was down to $75. The Millennium Falcon was $128. AT AT, $141. I’ve even seen the UCS Falcon for $50-100 off MSRP on Zavvi.

Re: Switch Error Code 2123-1502 - Users Still Waiting On Fix For Update 12.0.3 Issues

Res462

Had the same issue after purchasing a few games yesterday and putting the console into sleep mode, which borked all three downloads and produced this error.

I restarted (didn't work), shut down (didn't work), cleared the cache (didn't work), shut down again (didn't work), changed the DNS (didn't work), shut down again (didn't work), and instead of trying the "+" to download again, just clicked on the game to start the download, and for whatever reason, that worked on all three games.

Really big PITA, but it's the first real problem I've had outside of a game randomly crashing.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The February 2021 Nintendo Direct, Then?

Res462

I don’t get the hate. Outside of a Wind Waker HD announcement, I was happy with what they showcased.

BOTW 2 and MP4 will be part of their e3 presentation if they have one. Their fall lineup remains a mystery.

I expect there may be a Monster Hunter centric one in a couple weeks, and probably one for Pokémon Snap 2 before that comes out.

Re: A 'Pro' Switch With More Power Might Not Even Be Fully Utilised, Says Industry Veteran

@SuperWeird

This isn’t true at all. First party games on Xbox Series are going to support the One, S and X for a limited time. Third party games can support whichever consoles they choose, IE only the newer consoles.

Does that make business sense given the current install base? Probably not. That’s probably why nearly any non-exclusive is coming to every console out there for the time being.

Re: Rumour: Datamine Apparently Reveals All About The New Nintendo Switch Revision

Res462

@Emob

The logic here is wrongheaded. The Switch can’t currently power those games in handheld mode at higher resolutions, but a revised model could. I don’t see them doing a 4K anything, unless it’s some sort of checkerboard upscaling, and only in docked mode, because they’ve always chosen to underpower their consoles post GC era.

That being said, I’m ready for a new model if they release it and it seems like enough of a reason to upgrade. If they undercook it the way Sony did the PS4 Pro, then probably not. Unless there’s a sweet Zelda edition...

Re: Pikmin 3 Opening Week Physical Sales Were Lower On Switch Than Wii U (UK)

Res462

@sixrings And there is no BC on Switch, which was clear from day one.

TLoU remastered was full price when released seven years ago. It’s not an impressive port when compared to any first party title this generation. MCC was rushed out and took a year or two to get everything fixed.

You keep going to a different argument. I never said anything about what is or isn’t a good value.

Re: Pikmin 3 Opening Week Physical Sales Were Lower On Switch Than Wii U (UK)

Res462

@sixrings While I have bought Wii U ports on the Switch, I didn’t buy the Switch for Wii U ports, and when I did, it wasn’t because I thought they would be drastically better versions of themselves. My comment has nothing to do with defending Nintendo and the job they’ve done porting Wii U software to the Switch, even if that’s what you’d like to retcon it into.

Most of what you’re talking about have been modest improvements of games, and that’s fine, but it’s also not what you were talking about happening for BC on the other systems.

Re: Pikmin 3 Opening Week Physical Sales Were Lower On Switch Than Wii U (UK)

Res462

@sixrings Apples and oranges comparison. The Switch never promised BC in any form, and any hardware gains you’re referencing are due to the PC-like nature of both PS and XBOX consoles at this point and the super expensive SSDs the consoles use.

Any expectations you had for graphics/frame rate being markedly different on Switch than Wii U ignored the information that was readily available.

Re: Pikmin 3 Opening Week Physical Sales Were Lower On Switch Than Wii U (UK)

Res462

@barneygumble They aren’t all getting free upgrades. Third parties are encouraged to offer them, but NBA2K isn’t. Control isn’t. I’m sure there are or will be others that aren’t. Supposedly some Bethesda games are being repackaged/bundled with upgrades for the XS X/S consoles—whether or not they are offered for Free to people who own them is unknown.

Re: Cadence Of Hyrule's Skull Kid DLC Is Now Live, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Res462

@NathanTheAsian

It’s tangentially Zelda. neither game is really true to the roots of the mainline series, so the audience for both games probably have some overlap, but I just think you’re way off base thinking sales from a game over a year old are going to be negatively impacted by a brand new one simply because it’s getting a physical release.

I don’t care about online backlash about announcements or lack there of. People get outraged over stupid things all the time. There are a lot more pressing issues going on in the world today than Nintendo not giving you news on the new shiny thing you want.

Re: Review: Hades - A Heavenly Trip Into Hell That's Utterly Essential For All Switch Owners

Res462

@OmegaDestroyer I agree, it IS really hard to support a developer who makes good games.

/s

Get over yourself. The company has done what it had to do to make the games it wanted to. The fact that Switch is the first console on the books for arguably their best game is a boon for Switch owners, and I’m sure it will come to other platforms in time like nearly every other title they’ve made has.

Re: Poll: How Do You Feel About 'Limited-Time' Games From Nintendo?

Res462

@sketchturner So that's enough for what, 20% of the current Switch install base?

AC:NH sold over double that in a few months. Granted, many copies were purchased digitally, but 10 million for a first party Nintendo game would actually but it at the load end of the life-to-date sales spectrum.
