God what an atrocious headline....as a fan of both systems I can say it's definitely a stretch to say Nintendo is "embracing" E3 because Sony decided to opt out.
I want to give them a pass because they made one of the truly best metroidvanias in history, but the "we only have 3 people" excuse doesn't hold much weight when physical versions of Axiom Verge have been released, and that was a one man team....
After having just bought one of their wireless dongles I'm a bit skeptical. Even with firmware updates it doesn't maintain or even pick up a signal from a dualshock 4 or an x1 controller very well.
Might pick it up if it goes on sale, but I can't justify $60 for this when I own it on two other systems. Also, this game is over 6 and a half years old, not 5 as the article states.
@shonenjump86 Finally giving the staff a way to express their dislike for comments without the risk of writing something that digs their hole even deeper in whatever lovely piece of clickbait they've cooked up
Understandable, but I'm honestly surprised they haven't ported over FO3/NV to Switch. Lot of money to be made there considering those games have never graced a Nintendo console.
@Yosheel The site itself is an open forum. If I would've been referring to "the forums" I would've worded it as such. Would you prefer I go back and edit my comment to say comment sections so as to not be confusing?
"SoulCalibur VI has just arrived on every platform except the Nintendo Switch"
Really? I can download this on my 3DS? Sweet!
@antdickens "If you don't like something for whatever reason, you can just ignore it and move on, simple."
Funny you should say that, maybe you should enable the ignore feature for mods and staff so we can ignore their usually snobby comments on other people's opinions as well on an open forum
Why does this keep getting brought up? Several articles openly mocking competitors looks petty, everyone with a brain knows no one will be able to compete with Nintendo unless they magically gain the first party library. You're giving attention to something I guarantee no one had even heard of until it was brought up here multiple times. Who cares?
Unfortunately I live in an area where data caps are still a thing on home internet, so this is a hard pass from me. Trying to stretch out 500gb between PC, PS4, switch updates, downloads, and streaming services already has me almost hitting the cap every month.
Calling the Switch a home console at this point is a stretch at this point, based on articles here and Nintendo's own marketing everyone seems reluctant to lock it in as anything at this point.
@Balta666 Amazon shows the PS4 and X1 eternal editions sitting at $39.87, not a sale price. I understand that they had to spend money to port it to the Switch, and for everyone who doesn't own it already I'd say go for it. I already own it on PS4 and PC, so personally it's too much for me to triple dip.
Impressive they were able to get this running well on 3DS, but I'll stick to my OG GameCube version. Can't imagine trying to play this with a c-stick or motion controls.
The NES mini and SNES mini were the perfect opportunities to add a virtual console back into the mix without clogging up their Switch ecosystem. All they needed was their own eShop, and cheap games.
He used the word "cooly" and thinks the power glove was ahead of it's time? I guarantee this guy today has a mullett and is driving a 90's Camaro with T-tops
@Spiders Whatever floats your boat. Having bought and played through the game, this is my opinion on this particular game, not indies on Switch as a whole. I agree with the under $20 price point and overall mainstream success of the Switch being factors, but I still stand by my opinion on this game, which at it's launch on Steam, had no press coverage and was, again, IMO, a very mediocre platformer.
I mean, they launched it on a platform with 1% of the catalog size that Steam has, any indie game that received ok reviews and very little media coverage will automatically do better by default.
I'm sure we'll see this interview again when they repeat their cycle of one bad/one good console due to over-confidence in their ability to pack everything with gimmicks
Great they were able to port it over with minimal sacrifices, I think I'll still to my PS4 version though. I've already dropped $95, and I'm not even that big of a fighting game fan. But DBZ though.....
A fair review, I can't argue with it. I feel like I paid more for this game on PC, I'd say at $10 if you've already blown through Hollow Knight and Axiom Verge, this is an easy going metroidvania to try out.
I honestly couldn't imagine playing this game at 30fps after playing on PC, but to be fair I've noticed some framerate drops on PC even while running on a powerful machine. I could see how it could definitely affect people sensitive to framerate drops when dodging and movements become precise in later levels.
@KryptoniteKrunch I'm seeing things like talking down about the people who commented in the previous article, mods saying "I'm watching..." and the note at the end of the article, things like that. I'm not saying these commentors are purposely trying to egg them on, but those types of people could take those as a dare or challenge to do it.
Just disable comments on subjects this serious, don't even give people the chance to write something terrible. Makes more sense than seeing half the comments basically egging them on to do it....
When you see the author of a poorly written, clickbait, heavily misinformed article crying about the responses he's getting being mostly negative, really makes me question the integrity of the site as a whole given the fact that this was approved to begin with.
Nintendo had a full decade to learn from the mistakes of their predecessors and they applied almost none of it. Paying for the "privilege" to use P2P servers is a joke in itself. It's a great value for those who want NES games, that's about it.
