Re: Poll: Six Months of the Switch - What Do You Think of Nintendo's Console Hybrid?

RedMageLanakyn

@BlueOcean I made the unfortunate decision to block him today after seeing his comments to you, and his activities over at Push Square, where he's been very confrontational. I tried having a reasonable debate with him last week, and he jumped to so many conclusions that were so off-base I thought he had responded to someone else's comment at first. Oh well, can only give someone so many chances before it's time to move on.

Re: Feature: Exploring The "Switch Tax" And Why Nintendo Was Right to Use Game Cards

RedMageLanakyn

It's just nintendo being nintendo, creating a situation that suits them just fine because they're so-called "masters of compression" when in reality the games they make just aren't graphically demanding in either resolution or textures, which makes a headache for everyone else involved, and ultimately the costs get passed to the consumer. They've been doing this since N64, it's nothing new, just the cost of doing business and buying nintendo products.

Re: Splatoon 2 Designer Explains Why The Maps Rotate And Salmon Run Is Time-Limited

RedMageLanakyn

@Nintendoforlife Yeah, I guess I wasn't very specific on what I found ironic exactly, my bad on that. I was more referring to his statements about Japanese culture, how things are tailored, more so than Nintendo's implementation of playstyles between games. I think that sounds right, it does in my head anyways, I'm not sure how that translates on here. I just thought his statements were contradictory from what we've seen nintendo do with games recently.

Re: Splatoon 2 Designer Explains Why The Maps Rotate And Salmon Run Is Time-Limited

@Nintendoforlife It would be simpler to offer all modes at all times instead of limiting modes and not giving a real reason, just saying "we know what's best for you". That in itself isn't even an excuse, and if he's not allowed to speak on it, then he should've said that and nothing else, instead of suggesting there are "lots of reasons" why they can't do it.

I get that an online team based game needs some structure, but the irony comes in when they had such a player friendly attitude with BotW, and then restrict something in another game that shouldn't be restricted, period.

Re: Splatoon 2 Designer Explains Why The Maps Rotate And Salmon Run Is Time-Limited

Pretty ironic how this guy talks about Japanese culture, and everything being tailored, and "we know what's best for your gameplay experience" after a game like Breath of the Wild comes out in which it is 100% up to the player how to play the game. Sounds like a load of BS, and a reluctance to admit their servers wouldn't be able to handle the load of having all modes at all times.

Re: Pokémon Boss Didn't Think Switch Would Be A Success In The Age Of The Smartphone

At this point it's on Nintendo to actually meet demand and get stock up before holiday season rolls around, which is in two months. Otherwise, parents and people with money to burn will be looking at XB1 and PS4, since they're cheaper and always available, instead of having to fight for a hard to find system. That will be part of what determines whether or not the Switch is considered a failure a year from now.

Re: Soapbox: The SNES Classic Edition Pre-Order Farce Proves Nintendo Hasn't Learned A Thing

RedMageLanakyn

It's a sad situation, but not surprising. Nintendo, on the whole, has a reputation for doing this on all limited edition systems. Reggie can talk all day about limited resources, limited run, etc, but that absolutely does not excuse poor communication with retailers or customers.

Overall I'd say it's 75% nintendo, 25% retailer blame. Walmart's big BS "glitch" was so unbelievable, which was then topped by 3AM, no warning preorders. I was lucky(?) enough to get one of the thinkgeek bundles, but it was only because I really wanted the bundle items as well. Sad that I had to spend $250 to secure an $80 product. Sad state of affairs for nintendo altogether, but really, are we surprised in any way?

Re: Guide: Where to Pre-Order Your Super NES Classic Edition

RedMageLanakyn

Told myself I wasn't going to bother after the NES mini, but I signed up for email alerts from Walmart and Amazon. We all know how the Walmart preorder went, and Amazon didn't email me at all about today's preorders. I'll stick to my pre-built pi 3. I already own all the game on it, either physically or on VC except star fox 2, and it's not worth the hassle or the $80 for one game. Nintendo once again being Nintendo, breaking their necks trying to turn away paying, loyal customers.

Re: Soapbox: Seriously Nintendo, It's Time For A Switch Joy-Con With A Proper D-Pad

RedMageLanakyn

Darren Calvert: hero of the people! Aside from terrible hand cramps from more than 10 minutes of use, I did find it extremely difficult to play Shovel Knight using the joycons. My thumb kept hitting the left button when trying to press down.

@Kingrat The DS4 Dpad is actually one solid piece with a plastic cover over it to make it look separated, and it's definitely one of the best Dpads available.
