If you're not sure what games have been added to the Switch Online NES library recently, Nintendo's YouTube channel has released a clip showing off each one in action. For the month of October, the releases include Solomon’s Key, Super Dodge Ball and NES Open Tournament Golf.
This appears to be the same trailer as the Japanese one from last week when the release date for the three games was originally announced. Not on display is the "souped-up" version of The Legend of Zelda - Living the life of luxury!, giving players access to a ton of rupees and items.
As always, you'll need to have a subscription to access and play these NES games including the special version of The Legend of Zelda. Next month's releases include Metroid, Mighty Bomb Jack and TwinBee.
What do you think about the latest games that have been added to the NES online library? Do you like the special version of the original Zelda game? Have you been using Nintendo's new online service since it was launched? Tell us below.

I just want kirby
Nintendo choosing NES games for their online service was a incredibly poor decision. Should have chosen GBA or SNES games.
They reuploaded this video too which had so many dislikes and yet same result here anyway lol.
@Panda943 I wish we could play GBA games on the service like Amazing Mirror having wifi to play with your friends would be amazing.
Double dipping on articles for something so trivial, I guess I don't feel AS bad only having made a sarcastic click and post on one of the two
Not a fan of the online rental solution, just because I have no control over what games are in the library.
They should just have made a NES emulator program and sold the games as DLCs for that program.
Then Nintendo could have a starter bundle they could have sold on a physical copy.
The "classic mini NES" game bundle would have be a nice candidate.
And if they want to mix in the online part.
Just have the NES emulator program be some that free as long as you subscribe and give out a free NES DLC each month.
And they can do the same with the SNES, N64 and GC.
I don’t even know how to complain about this service anymore, lol. I bought into it, I’m not wowed, I contributed despite my problem with it and proved Nintendo’s calculations... what can you do
When you see the number of dislikes under the video, you realize how much people don't care about the service.
Maybe it's time for Nintendo to listen the gamers a little more... :/
@Spectra
When they re-release all the games that are on the Classic Mini NES.
Then they will move on to the Clasisic Nini SNES.
And then Nintendo will cancel the online service in the current form because they have moved onto the next console.
Then they have to release all the NES games again, and the cycle repeats
@Spectra
Years. I've counted at least 46 Nintendo first-party games on the NES. Even if they released three NOJ titles per month it would take nearly 16 months just to release those but since they're mixing in 3rd parties as well, who knows?
It's ridiculous. The NES Classic took care of my NES itch. I'd much MUCH rather have them release DMG, CGB, AGB, and especially N64 and GameCube titles. I'm not sure we'll ever see them, though.
Nintendo's online subscription service should have had NES, SNES and GBA games from the start and a library of at least 50 games per platform. Also since they seem to be doing 3-4 games per month, it will take forever before the full catalog is available.
It's a shame they did such a poor job with it. The emulator itself is really great and well done. You can clearly see the French Nintendo team is the creator of the NESflix catalog.
@Spectra There were 714 official NES releases. Then there's unlicensed games like those Bible ones, Action52 or modern retros like Little Medusa.
Eh, those three are all pretty underwhelming.
Next batch includes Metroid, so that's something, but I really want Kirby's Adventure and let my GF play it.
And games from something other than NES as well. Not just SNES, GBA or N64, like everyone else is asking, but some GameBoy classics as well. Switch is portable after all. Original Pokemon Yellow as an appetizer before Let's Go anyone?
We are going to have 'nothing for me this month' or 'Wow /s' posts month after month from the same few who don't seem to realise they don't like NES games lol.
We are getting so much retro goodness that I just regard this NES Online as a bonus feature. It's really nice that they seem to have SP versions of games planned and hope they really experiment with the idea. Paying to play online is rubbish. (Thank you MS and Sony). I think the NES games are more a sweetener as opposed to what we are actually paying for lol.
Can we get Gamecube Online next, please Nintendo?
I still don't understand why everyone's so pissed. The subscription is ultra-cheap and some nostalgia goodness is always a good thing, - especially if you can play it online. Yeah, the online service has some flaws I guess, but as for me, I haven't experienced any problems with it. I guess modern players are too influenced by negative opinions - even if they don't have any rhyme or reason.
@Spectra like never lol. "Growing library of NES games" whoever still thinks they will add more is just making a fool of themselves
@Spectra Say 500 games, 3 a month. That's just 166 months to go.
Holy crap, Solomon's Key. That game gave me nightmares back in the day...
Nintendo are hilarious. They think this kind of crap is going to sell this service?
They would have made several years worth of subscription dough from me if they released these old games on a cartridge or as a la carte VC titles instead.
This joke of a "service" makes the Wii U look like it has best value online service on the market.
At least the cloud saves work and the online games work as before
NES oh maaan this is so poor.
If they will bring snes then I have a reason to buy the online subscription
So when do Wii U games come to VC? 👍
I agree, they should've mixed games from various consoles. I grew up in the NES era, but 99% of the games are too old now for me to play for more than 5min.
@1UP_MARIO dxcept that the only online games that are actually still active is just Mario Kart and Splatoon.
All other games with online features are dead.
@Razer yeah. Mario tennis and rocket leagues active.
I love NES games, and think Nintendo Online is a fantastic service for a very reasonable price. I am happy with it. I am looking forward to what it will become in a couple of years.
And why do so many people assume, that Nintendo needs to go trough all their NES games, before they will release any SNES games for the service? They could start to release some SNES games in a few month, if they wanted to do that. We don't know when it will happen.
As a returning nintendo player from n64 days and missed the nes era. I am delighted these games are coming back. I only heard of the main ones. But games like solomons key, ninja gaiden and a few others have really sparked my interest. Despite cost and limitations I am also excited about the nes controllers too.
Maybes I'm probably one of the few who feels we are getting an abundance of content for a reasonably small subscription price. I can however understand how people might feel slighted who have already played these games via nes mini/VC etc.
Nintendo Online’s offerings are depressingly abysmal. We want a virtual console with games to purchase not bloody rent! Get with the times, Nintendo!
@Spectra give it a few more weeks.
@Cobalt damn straight.
Thanks for the scraps Nintendo
Super Dodge Ball is so so so good. I’m glad they added it!
Yawn
@NightBeast When there's nothing to complain about, some people have to invent something to complain about.
Cool, cool.
Now give us frikin' SNES, N64, GC, Wii, Wi U, GB, GBC, GBA, DS, 3DS, VB, Game & Watch, arcade, etc too. . . .
And then try and also get some stuff from other non-Nintendo consoles and computers and arcades on there also. . .
I like NES games. Really, I do. But I can't fathom why, after shelling out money for a year long subscription, my Switch didn't show me a channel that is the NES Mini/Classic bundle. The software already exists! Just dumbo drop all of those games all at once and skip the whole "Dr Mario Online" thing.
Then move on to the SNES.
Excuse me but I just need to get something straight. I just need to know how to feel about this issue.
Nintendo provided us a way to play 23+ boring old games that everyone is tired of playing that they wish to own not rent. They should be giving us these games that we are all sick of faster. Also they always seem to underestimate the power of these games that everyone is sick of by not producing enough NES classics.
Okay, so I should feel outraged that I cannot properly buy and own hundreds of these tired, old, boring games on my Switch.
Good, now that I know how I should feel about it I just need to find a way to stop enjoying actually playing all the NES games on my Switch.
@gauthieryannick Take off your tinfoil hat, Alex Jones. ITZACONSPIRACYYY
Hell naw, these games just suck. The service sucks and waiting doesn't change a thing, because it's a subscription service so it runs out. It's like if you would release a Spotify clone with a library of three songs. Yeah, but you have to wait while paying to get more.
When in fact Nintendo never actually improved. It's like N64 games on VC. Only 20 or so were ever released. I'm pretty sure all delusional fanboys were claiming you just had to wait until more were released lol
@BigKing
Your comparison with Spotify doesn't make much sense. Nintendo Online Service main purpose is online gaming and cloud saves. That is what it's all about, and what you are paying a little fee for every year.
Nintendo could have left it at that, but are giving subscribers a little extra with some NES retro games. The little NES game service is not the main selling point, and cannot be compared with Spotify in that regard.
But apparently people expect a full Nintendo-flix with the full back catalogue from NES to GameCube for a fraction of the price that Netflix and Spotify is demanding. That's absurd!!!
@0rwellianson
Perhaps they should give "Nintendo currency" for each month we subscribe instead and the let us use that to get classic games.
@dres Are you dumb? I would gladly pay more for a good service. I don't care if it's the fraction of the price if the service sucks. I have no problem paying >$100 a year for something that is worth it.
And they are not giving anything extra compared to other services.It's really bad. PS Plus is 3 times more expensive and still offers way more value.
Damn, those delusional fanboys keep missing the point.
Oh look another Switch Online trailer for me to dislike.
@Slitth yasssss
BUT I spent all last weekend earning Link’s pink pyjamas!!! Games were short but tough in those days... was fun standing in Ganon’s ashes!
What next? Metroid starts in Samus’ Bikini? Lol
