Re: Nintendo Switch Online Will Start On 19th September, More Info Coming In Direct

RedMageLanakyn

@frabbit I think PSPlus is, mainly for the amount of games I receive for the cost. I haven't been subscribed to Xbox live for a few years but the games look equally decent for the price of admission.

@SEGATA_DREAMCAST I guess that was a bad example since I haven't played it in a few years. Either way, you have to pay to play on their servers in their game, regardless of platform. The cost isn't exclusive to PC.

Re: Talking Point: Do We Still Need Review Scores?

RedMageLanakyn

They cause many problems honestly, as most "journalists" aren't able to convey their thoughts into what fits into a scoring set of rules. You see it all the time where a review "reads like a 9" but they give it a 7.
I'm ok with essential/recommended, but it would also be nice to have some background on the reviewer in terms of what kind of games they prefer. All too often someone reviews a game in a genre or playstyle that they really don't like, and it sets odd tones for reviews overall.

Re: Talking Point: It's September And We Still Don't Know Enough About Nintendo Online

RedMageLanakyn

Great article Damien, you've hit all the major pain points that really needed to be addressed a few months ago with this online service.

I'm not buying it, as I don't play games online with my switch at all, and I have an NES mini already. Plus, given the lack of info, i have very little confidence in Nintendo's ability to offer a stable online service based on what I experienced during the Wiiu online days. No info on what has been upgraded, how many servers there are, etc.

Re: Sony Interactive Entertainment Asia President Says Switch Has Had A "Positive Influence" On Games Market

RedMageLanakyn

"certainly open to riding off the success of competitor platforms"

I don't see anywhere in the provided quote where he mentioned riding off the success of either Nintendo or Microsoft. In fact, all it says is they will continue to play to THEIR strengths, and they're glad other platforms exist for multiple genres of games to exist. Seriously, is this guy really this desperate to create clickbait?

Re: Players Have Had Enough Of Fortnite's "Unplayable" State On Switch, Send Plea To Epic Games

RedMageLanakyn

You mean Epic, the company that took their much hyped and failed game and turned it into a BR with very little knowledge of how their own internal systems work, is unable to optimize their game on lower spec hardware? I've got a news flash for you all, the game runs terribly on all platforms no matter the specs. They have no idea how to optimize their game, only how to continue adding skins so they make money.

Re: Is 'Switch Tax' A Real Concern, Or Just A Myth?

RedMageLanakyn

@NEStalgia If it's a small company I can see that argument, but this is Blizzard/Activision, the same people who thought it was a good idea to put a real money auction house in the game at first, so this game doesn't get a Switch Tax pass from me. If they sold this game at $40 they would recoup their costs very quickly I would think.

Re: Head Of Abstraction Games Addresses Technical Performance Of The Switch

RedMageLanakyn

Another article meant to fan the flames of those who read the title, skip to the comments, and start defending nintendo blindly and bashing whoever said whatever they read in the cherry picked sub header.

When I see comments like " This guy needs to get over his ego, his studio has never done anything noteworthy and as far as I can tell they never even worked on anything original to themselves" you can tell zero article reading was done here

Re: Review: Titan Quest (Switch)

RedMageLanakyn

I'll hold out for a Diablo 3 port before I drop $40 on something held together by "sticky tape and a prayer" that still gets a 7/10 when other games get absolutely destroyed when they have half the bugs and are a fraction of the age.

Re: Poll: Is Your Nintendo Switch Cracking Under The Pressure?

RedMageLanakyn

Makes sense when you factor in the cheap plastic shell, and a very small fan being asked to disperse wayyyyy too much heat for it's size, and the fact that you're constantly attaching/removing peripherals that cause strain on the entire body of the tablet.

Guess I should just be thankful I keep mine docked, let it cool down before packing it up, and never remove the joycons, no cracks on mine.
