I'm curious about the problem with the two-part split, which is similar to the 'searching for friends' part in FFVI, as you say. That part of the game is often considered a strength of FFVI. Does it not work as well in this game?
When I was a kid I had Star Trek toys and made up insane crossover scenarios like this game. "Oh, and Worf is here.... and Locutus for no reason... and... Batman?!" 10 year old me gets it.
Well, I'm glad I don't have the sensibilities of a modern gamer. Clock Tower absolutely is "a nerve-wracking thrill ride from start to finish," and the slow pacing builds tension.
@Anti-Matter I see. Certainly some people believe that a console with lower sales is less worthy to play. I'm not one of those people, so we agree about that.
I'm saying that from a different perspective the PS5 is a distant last place in a contest between only 3 consoles. I don't think that would hurt the availability of games you want to play. From PS5 gamers perspective, and from your perspective, it's probably fine. From a Sony executive's perspective, it's probably not great. But maybe in the Japanese market it's actually really good. I have no idea.
"But upon meeting a dancer in-game, Kawazu had a revelation: despite being “low-resolution”, despite it being “a product of a person in Texas" on the other side of the world, this single interaction taught him that “it’s okay to offer other things of value outside of just winning or reaching a goal.”"
This is the craziest story. So what you're telling me is that Kawazu met a dancer from Texas, who taught him that life wasn't about success, but something deeper.
Maybe I'm weird but I see this as a race between three, not nine. PS5 is in 3rd place. That's last place. That's bad. PS5 is selling poorly in Japan. Last place.
Shockingly Xbox is in 6th place in a race of three. The internet explorer of consoles somehow.
I want an alcoholic old man as my instructor. A washed-up former boxer who blew his chance in the 60s. Every other sentence is the foulest, most creative insult you've ever hear. He doesn't encourage me. He enrages me with insults until I succeed.
Dungeons are prisons so I think Hyrule put way too much energy into those and ignored the smaller kind. How often do the monsters exit dungeons? Never? Pretty effective I think.
I always go to museums when traveling but, even being a Nintendo fan, this has no appeal for me. I can't think of any changes that would make me want to go there.
Contemporary investors will not like this because they are idiots. They are impressed by shiny things. But in the future they will appreciate that Nintendo did not waste their money on AI.
In terms of being spoiled, this isn't all that different from waiting to play two weeks after its release date. I suppose it's not great for people with a mighty need to play a game as soon as it's released.
For those of us who wait, we just start avoiding spoilers two weeks earlier. And initially there won't be as many chances to be spoiled because fewer people are playing.
Of the FFIV options you listed, though I personally prefer the SNES version because of nostalgia, I think the PSP version best. The Pixel Remasters are a good alternative.
I had a hankering for some old school Final Fantasy as well. Playing FFVI this weekend and using the PR bestiary just to run boss fights.

Treat your employees well. What a concept!
Re: Video: Here's The Official Mega Man Trailer For Amazon's 'Secret Level' Series
Well, I guess that's what people want animation to look like now.

Re: Japanese Charts: There's No Stopping Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake
@Otoemetry
For them, it's not about the specifics. It's about misunderstanding censorship to fuel their sense of aggrievement.
@Anti-Matter
You're gonna need to buy 40,000 more it seems.
Re: Japanese Charts: There's No Stopping Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake
It's hard to take seriously anyone who thinks DQ III was censored.
Re: Sony May Be Plotting A New PSP To Compete With Nintendo's 'Switch 2'
One crispy chicken sandwich, please.
Re: Final Fantasy VII Switch Update Removes "Restrictions For Sharing Features"
I'm not sure what this is. What in the game prevents you from "sharing" that scene?
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (23rd November)
I'm always impressed by the number of games you people can play over a weekend. I usually stick with one and play that for a month or more.
Right now I'm between games. Was thinking of starting Pentiment.
Re: Japanese Charts: Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake's Launch Sales Are Astronomical
What? Japanese gamers don't care about 60fps for smooth gameplay?
Re: Save On Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters In Square Enix's Switch eShop Sale (North America)
People have differing opinions on what is definitive.
Re: Dragon Quest III Remake Producer Would "Love" To See Final Fantasy VI HD-2D
With the Pixel Remasters being so recent, it seems unnecessary and unlikely.
Re: Mini Review: Carpathian Night Starring Bela Lugosi (Switch) - Nails That Classic Castlevania Feel
How could Bela Lugosi be in this if he's dead?
Oh...
Re: Japanese Charts: Mario & Luigi Sail Past The Competition
Interesting that 78k people bought PS5 Pros but only one PS5 game made it to the chart with only 4,600 copies sold.
Re: Review: Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake (Switch) - Square Doesn't Drop The Ball, Just Some Frames
I dunno. I like HD-2D but this doesn't look nearly as good as other games in the same style. I think I'd just rather emulate the SNES or GBA version.
Re: Nintendo Suing Streamer For Allegedly Broadcasting "Pirated" Switch Games Ahead Of Official Release
$7.5 million? Is that all? Nintendo not going to try for $7.5 wazillion pavilion?

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Sonic X Shadow Generations
@HammerGalladeBro I was seriou (except about the Yoshi part).
Thanks for the explanation!
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Sonic X Shadow Generations
The Japanese one looks better with the mirrored/duality/shadow self/ying-yang vibe.
I know nothing about this game. Is there a baby Sonic? Will Yoshi have to raise him? What's going on?

Are we pretending the Bob Hopkins Mario doesn't exist? Cool if we are. I just want to be on the same page here.
Re: Microsoft Talks About Extending Its Gaming Content To 'New Platforms'
There doesn't seem to be any point in keeping a game a console exclusive unless it's big enough to drive sales of that console.

Re: As Expected, Nintendo Is Struggling To Contain Switch Online Playtest Leaks
This is so not a secret that's a bit of a stretch to even call it a leak.
And why do people get so moralistic about it? Who cares?

I prefer the original.

Re: Can You Name These Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom Enemies?
5/25 and those 5 were pure luck. Not single first gen Pokémon and those are the only ones I know. That's what this is, right?
Re: Feature: That Time I Was Invited To Square HQ To Playtest Final Fantasy VI
You wouldn't be the son of a submariner, would you?
I was actually considering playing it today though I didn't know it was the 30th anniversary. That settles it then.
