Wayforward remaking Advance Wars

MercurySteam remade Metroid II and is resurrecting Dread from vaporware status.

Seems very much like Nintendo is making a push to revive their dormant or lukewarm selling IP and they're using outside studios to help them do it. I'm pretty excited.
Do the people that keep making these "it's scalpers" comments not understand that it's nigh impossible for a special edition that sold out everywhere in minutes to be keeping this game continuously at the top of preorder sales & hourly charts at major retailers for the entirety of a week?
A Metroid game is about to sell very well and it's spooking folks lol
For those apprehensive about that $60 price, you're technically getting two games for that price, which works out to $30 each. That's actually a pretty good price for VNs of this production quality.
For example, I paid $40 for Nurse Love Syndrome and the main story takes roughly the same amount of time to complete as one of the Detective Club Games (give or take a couple of hours). The production values in that also aren't as impressive.
Fair enough if you would still rather wait for a sale, just wanted to point out that Nintendo actually priced these games very well. I was expecting these games to be at least $50 each when they were first announced considering the quality (and the fact that it's Nintendo who tried to sell Sushi Striker for almost full retail).
Has Smash always been this popular in Japan? Good lord, I didn't think any exclusive would give Splatoon a run for the money over there but it's closing in fast.
Let's Go should be passing USM within the next couple of months. SMP got a big boost and DQB2 sold just a little below the PS4 version despite Switch owners having more choices to play. Fantastic news all around.
3D World and Super Mario Maker is all I need to come to the Switch though I'd pick up TMS and W101 too.
3DW was an bc absolute masterpiece of a multiplayer Mario experience. It MUST be experienced by the wider audience particularly those that still value couch co op.
It's never gonna happen because the big Internet service providers are too invested in figuring out ways how to cap usage and squeeze every penny they can out of the slowest speeds and most mediocre service possible. For this to be possible, they'd first have to be willing to provide cheaper, faster, more reliable, more widespread, and unlimited service to the masses first. Then you have to go through the actual process of convincing people that it'd be a grand idea to base their gaming on their internet quality when they're used to even their movies and TV shows buffering.
Yeah, good luck with that.
What's really funny is that he completely bases this off of what would be a desirable future for AAA devs such as himself when the biggest game phenoms of the past decade have been the likes of Minecraft, Pokemon GO, Candy Crush, and Fortnite. All games you could play on a toaster. The market is clearly speaking a much different tune.
Anyone complaining about the Let's Go games being "too casual" just because wild battles are out need to "play" this for a sitting.
You are actually watching the game play itself. I guess the main draw is supposed to be building your team but I'm hardly finding that aspect interesting enough to make up for the automated battles. I'd get more meat out of just watching a Pokemon movie or episode since those would at least provide a plot.
Regardless, I'll keep it just as a five minute Pokefix every now and then.
Every time I come to a Smash article comment section, I'm left utterly mindblown that this "izzit a port" discussion actually made it past the first week of reveal.
@impurekind Based on examples from a game that was widely known as a Wii U game for most of it's development cycle before being moved over to the Switch, a game that was revealed without any uncertainty to be a port and showed gameplay from the first trailer, and a game that is a sequel in every sense of the word.
These are the examples you're using to argue that a game with nothing shown at its reveal other than a cinematic trailer is a enhanced port?
Just sounds to me like the Switch is attracting more of the "blue ocean" crowd that plays mobile games than other platforms. The Switch is a huge success, Nintendo has made a pretty good footprint in the mobile space and in general, is more casual friendly so this really isn't surprising.
I mean... nothing about this game has suggested to me they wouldn't be able to get it to run on the Switch. If money is there (which there clearly is judging by Xenoverse's sales), they'll make it happen.
It's really just a matter of when and not if if could. It's pretty well known that Switch owners will double dip on ports so me thinks Bamco is just stalling to get that money before announcing the Switch version.
I'm usually all over games like this but something isn't quite drawing me in the same way say DOA or Senran Kagura does. Maybe it's the fact this clip focused on one stage and one set of outfits (only maybe two of which I care for). I hope this comes with a lot of DLC with more interesting costumes and stages or my interest in this is going to be pretty short lived.
I could use a female brawler to have on the Switch and this would tide me over until a new Senran Kagura main entry or a DOA port happens.
I'm no analyst. I have no friggen idea if this venture will be successful or not.
But I'm interested.
Been looking a while now for some good STEM toys for my niece. I've hesitated on Legos because the one mini set she had, she got frustrated with. She loves 1-2 Switch but that's more of a party game. The LAGO mini games look just as interactive and like something she can be entertained with on her own (with supervision ofc).
New games are always best but I also wouldn't mind a Samus Returns port. Probably the only way I'd get around to playing it because my 3DS is basically in retirement.
SMO deserves all the success and much more but justice for 3D World. I feel quite a few Wii U games should be part of a "just in case you missed it" line on the Switch. They deserve to be played.
The games made for people that are attracted to men are usually made with straight women in mind and the market has decided that those women are only interested in dating sims, visual novels, and idol games. As someone who's attracted to both sexes, I've been able just to accept it as: "well if I want my T&A in games I can go for brawlers and shooters and if I want D&A, I can settle down with a relaxing VN" but no denying there's a lack of variety for one audience. After all, there's visual novels, dating sims, and idol games available for that T&A audience too if action shooters, rpgs, fighters, and horror isn't their thing but if you're into hot guys but not into otome or idol games then you're pretty sol.
I'm not making any guesses about the final sale numbers but I will say that if I were a betting woman, I wouldn't bet against the Switch matching or even surpassing the Wii. I think the key thing here that's working for the Switch vs the Wii is that its selling point isn't something that's going to lose it's appeal in a few years. People are never going to get tired of the concept of playing games on the go. The very existence of the dedicated handheld and mobile markets proves this. And now there's a system out there that at the size of a tablet is 100% travel friendly for your commute, your workplace, your friend's place, your hotel, etc. It plays both the pick up and go games and the deeper experiences you may crave once in a while. Oh, AND you can play it on your television when you feel like it because it's also a home console? The Wii's selling point demanded that you stay at home and engage with it. The Switch's selling point is that it works completely on your schedule. Flexibility and convenience. The concept is timeless.
Now how much of a success it ends up being is completely on Nintendo. I don't expect every year to have a Mario + Zelda + Splatoon + Xenoblade 1-2-3-4 punch but Wii U type years cannot happen ever again.
Next year would fit in line with how long it usually takes to see a new mainline entry (2-3 years) but I'll temper my expectations and assume it's HD ports of the previous games.
Which honestly is fine with me, would absolutely love to have this series of games on the Switch to replay. But Ace Attorney is also the perfect safely popular mid sized game to push out to get some presence on the system within a year so.... Capcom could indeed surprise us.
People can keep harping on Nintendo about supply issues but 2 million for a plug and play system in it's first month is insane. That's a console launch.
Ah sounds about what I expected then. A mindless score chaser that's great pick up and play fun. The price is fantastic too and pretty good value for the different modes. Will pick it up.
I thought that one user was kidding about the time to download being longer than the actual demo. WTF It stops right as you learn the controls (though granted they're stupidly simple and Sonic is basically controlling himself). Like???
If any new IP tried this, I'd be giving their game a complete miss.
I don't play 2K but my brother has been a devout player of each annual entry, his PS4 essentially being a 2K machine with some other titles occasionally getting some play.
He's been frustrated with the past couple of games to the point of selling them but that usually took some months. This is the first time he's ever been completely DONE and ready to sell it before even a week is up. The only reason he hasn't yet is because he hasn't been able to find the receipt to get his full refund. The game has been sitting in it's case gathering dust without a single attempt to fire it up again.
Not even taking into account the criticism I've seen for this game, that's pretty much my signal that 2K completely lost it with this release. I entertained the thought of buying the Switch version so he could have it portable but that most certainly will not be happening now and I can only hope WWE 2K isn't the same story of a nearly unplayable micro-transaction hell on launch.
I've only played the demo. I REALLY suck at this game but dang if it isn't a blast to play. If I ever get better or am just feeling particularly masochistic that day, I'll purchase it.
