SNK has published a new trailer for its upcoming fighting title SNK Heroines to coincide with EVO Japan 2018, and the level of fan service on display is off the chart.
As well as showing plenty of gleefully bouncing flesh, the trailer also details how you can customise your fighter and gives a little bit of detail on the (wafer thin) plot.
However, the really big news is the reveal of Nakoruru from the Samurai Shodown series. She joins Athena Asamiya, Leona Heidern, Mai Shiranui, Yuri Sakazaki and Kula Diamond in the confirmed roster, will more fighters to be revealed closer to the summer launch.
NIS America will be handling publishing duties for this one. Excited? Let us know with a comment.

And remember this won't be censored in the West.
So Super Titty Fighter 3000 huh?
Day one purchase for me!
Looks...... so fun. Might have to get this, not enough games like this that emphasise fun graphics. It's like a Kirby game, but with boobs.
Going for that Fire Emblem Heroes notion that waifus sell copies. Brave of them
Looks fun to play out in public. Say a house party or something like that.
@gcunit 😂😂🤣🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 That's..... the best analogy I've heard yet!!!
Looks like the characters will mostly come from KOF 14.
I feel the term "fan service" often covers something that is quite frankly a disservice to fans, and more of a stint to pull in new audiences who don't give a toss about character integrity.
The same way the term "mature content" is used about rather immature content aimed at adolescents.
I'm more interested now that they've confirmed Nakoruru but then again, I would've liked to see her in her normal costume. I wouldn't even know it's Nakoruru if I'd just seen this image and not an actual trailer.
They turned Mamahaha into a bat... (She still says: "Let's go Mamahaha.")
At least the costumes are optional as far as I know.
EDIT: Also, there are at least 14 characters if the limited edition is anything to go by.
Honestly I'm excited to get this one. My wife loves to play Dead or Alive 5 Last Round because of all the fun costumes, its one of the few fighting games I can get her to play with me. This SNK Heroines looks like the perfect game for us to play together. I'm sure she'll love the 'dress up' mode for costumes and I'll be happy to have a tag battle partner for the arcade mode and such. Besides with the idea of being able to pull off supers with a single button that sounds like a difficulty curve she could handle.
Thanks @SNK for making something that people of all skill levels can play!
Juggle physics
I can't get past the fact that this looks cheap as hell. More akin to bumf like Senran Kagura than the glory days of SNK's best. Most disappointing 40th anniversary celebration ever?
Also can't help but think that anyone throwing out a fighting title post-Dragon Ball Fighterz better buy a clue. Especially if it's an "aimed at all levels" affair, 'cause that game is tuned and god-like.
@Pod I never understood those fighting game story line fanatics who care more about character integrity and other irrelevant things instead of the fighting mechanics. You have a bunch of them with every series. Know the backgrounds of all Street Fighter characters.
I just see two random characters punching each other.
I did not care a bit about this title. Now I will buy it to play when my parents aren't home. Oh, I'm 27.
@BigKing
Oh sure, I can't really get my head around the intricacies of the storylines in fighting games either, or the particular relevance of them for that matter. I'm just saying that a service to fans might be more cool outfits in the same style of a character's existing wardrobe, rather than just trying to make them all wear as little as possible.
@gcunit wierdest analogy.
Wierd avatar too; still cant ignore it.
if it weren't for the fan service, i'd swear this game looks like it was made to get girls into fighting games.
Nice to see some unashamed raunch in this day and age. I'm going to pretend it's The Presidents Club and throw money at them!
@Ardisan Almost as weird as your spelling of weird
Please, do the Opposite sometimes.
Muscular Six Pack guys as fanservice.
Joe Higashi, Goro Daimon, Clark Still, etc.
Kula dressed as Angel implies she will not be playable. Dumb as she begs to be in a game like this.
And Nakoruru looks like she is coming out of Bloodstained.
This game (tacky fan service aside) doesn't look bad. What bugs me is why not just port kof xiv? No one would be mad about that at all. I don't get the logic of bringing this game to the switch when it very obviously runs on the same engine as kof xiv when they could have just brought over kof xiv
I really hope that I can put the characters in their normal outfits. The more I'm hit in the face with desperation fanservice the less I'm inclined to buy this game.
@Pod I don't really recall this type of fan service being a disservice to "fans" to everyone. Same goes to "Mature Content" as you quoted may seem immature to you but it's also only what you think of it. I'm just trying to say everyone has different opinion to these things, I for one won't deny that I love these kind of eye candy. It's really nothing to be ashamed of to like sexual content, it's just features that attracts attentions to some people out there regardless of genders. Just the matter of how you see things in life. I'm sure a lot of girls also enjoy manly looking characters (doesn't have to be a muscular guy) in games, we just look for different features and judge everything differently.
Like how I usually think that the way political games are being played out by many politicians are very immature and selfish, but some people would think these are mature actions that was thoroughly thought out.
Boob physics confirmed!
First day buy.
@Neocloudzero
I absolutely agree that it is a matter of taste, and that nobody should be ashamed of enjoying sexual imagery.
I'm just saying that the terms themselves have been worn to the ground, and hardly ever mean what they actually say anymore.
@BigKing The explanation I've always heard is that the storyline makes the fighting game more interesting. Which I think is nuts as most fighting game stories make no sense. But a lot of people play because their friends play and not due to any great love of the genre or because it looks cool (I know a number of folks jumping on the DBZ FighterZ bandwagon because they like DBZ but don't like fighting games). Seeing as you can't escape the mechanics of a fighting game I don't get it ...but I play fighting games for the game play. I don't care why Ryu is overcome with the satsui no hado again...just means Evil Ryu is playable to me.
@Ryu_Niiyama The first trailer showed characters in their normal outfits so I'd guess these are just alternate costumes, though they may be giving these costumes a bit too much attention. They have official art for both clothing styles.
@Late I didn't even know who that was (I can't watch the videos...and I certainly wouldn't watch this at work right now anyway) and I'm a huge SamSho fan. I was hyped about a new fighting game but this is nuts. I love the female form quite a bit, but I've never understood the desperate need to have women parade around all the time scantily clad for salacious perusal. SO creepy.
Who knew Mai's normal outfit would be less fanservice-y than this game?
Alright, I’ll say it... the music is HORRIBLE. No problem with the fan service though. Seems like Japan is one of the few countries left that hasn’t completely castrated their male population... yet.
GIRL POWER! LOL
This is a bit disappointing
@Jamotello Yeah, it did originally look like a beginner entry fighting game but the more trailers I see, the more mature content is being shown. I would be embarrassed to show this to my younger relatives.
...I'm gonna have to pass on this one.
Looks like the ultimate game for guys who desperately need a girlfriend.
Though the skimpy outfits aren't really selling it to me, I am in the market for a new 2D fighter on Switch, so I might pick this up if it reviews well.
@gcunit Rude, some people like me are confused where the 'i' goes constantly. Don't error shame );.
Can't wait to add this to my library.
And here I am, patiently waiting for that longshot Shermie reveal, be it in SNK Heroines TTF or KoF. If it happens, I'll pick up the collector's edition! As long as she's simply on the roster, then that's the best fan service to me!
#GrapplersNeedLoveToo
#Shermie4KoFXIV
@Yorumi "It's really getting to the point where you can't buy japanese games anymore."
Why? There's a lot of quality Japanese games out there. And with region free on the Switch and PS4 importing is easier than ever. You'd not buy a game over silly costumes?
...Wait, so these games are perfectly fine, but when a Senran Kagura game happens al;l hell breaks loose?
Ah well, at least this one isn't a Rub Asuka Simulator.
Sweet!
Here I was hoping they would get their usual outfit as well, and a little dip in the comments section has confirmed that. Thank you fellow readers.
Now... is it me or does Kula seem out of character here? I don't remember her like that at all.
Not gonna lie. Day one purchase...
I'm usually all over games like this but something isn't quite drawing me in the same way say DOA or Senran Kagura does. Maybe it's the fact this clip focused on one stage and one set of outfits (only maybe two of which I care for). I hope this comes with a lot of DLC with more interesting costumes and stages or my interest in this is going to be pretty short lived.
I could use a female brawler to have on the Switch and this would tide me over until a new Senran Kagura main entry or a DOA port happens.
If SNK is smart they better throw this trash right in the gutter and get on bringing an actual fighting game for Switch, I don't think I would bother getting this and I'm a dedicated NeoGeo gamer. Look at all your NeoGeo games on Switch SNK and see why they sell and make something from those, not this trash of a spinoff. Nakoruru herself look nothing like her compare to her KOF14 appearances. I too had play Gals Fighters on NeoGeo Pocket Color and those characters doesn't look anything like the bimbos seen here.
Not my kind of game. I've tried enjoying SNK fighters before but I just prefer the mechanics of Street Fighter or NetherRealm games. But to those who do want this, have fun.
Nope. Maybe the Street Fighter collection or Smash when it's inevitably announced though.
I love fighting games no matter what. Unless this reviews horribly, I'll be picking this up.
@Mqblank it's still possible that it could be. there are six fighters revealed so far and that's not enough of a roster. maybe these early fan service shots are jsut to get early interest. right now, even the dead or alive girls look modest.
Like I said before, ordered the $119 edition and two extra copies for friends. Big SNK fan since 1991!
I owned two copies (for 2-player) of Gals Fighter on the NGPC as well.
Man, the amount of people hating on fan service here is unreal. And lol at "not a real fighting game" seriously, get over yourself I feel embarrassed for you for reading that.
So, is this really a 1 button fighter? I mean, DoA can do both "fanservice" and depth. And if you ain't doing just as good, then ok... I keep my money and the internet keeps me entertained.
belle of the brawl hehe
@Yorumi I appreciate the response. I personally felt that Pyra's and Mythra's design were handled well. They did make some comments relevant to their appearances in some of the cutscenes. Sometimes it gave a pretty good laugh. I'll agree they were a little large and that sometimes it was a little distracting at times, but it easily was a detail I only really thought about during the begining of the game. Once you play and learn that they are actually well thought out characters with unique personalities you kinda forget all about it.
The story was truly gripping and the 'eye-candy' if you will stopped being a focus for me very early into the game. The eye-candy probably played a part in making me interested in the game at a glance, but it definitely wasn't what convinced me to buy the season pass. No it was the awesome gameplay and story that did the latter.
You mention Xseed which makes me think of the Senran Kagura game Shinobi Refle. I'll agree that this game was a bit much. It's pretty watered down from the gameplay that made the other games in the series fun. Instead it's entirely based around sex appeal. I think it's a game that probably did it's series and fans a bit of a disservice. But it's probably not going to be what all the Senran Kagura games will be from now on either. So for fans who wanted something else they can just wait for another game that has less of a sex focus.
I feel that Xenoblade 2 definitely was not a game that targeted the same audience as Shinobi Refle. And even though Pyra's design is a little ridiculous, it's definitely not the focus of the game. It gave her a distinct look I guess which helped identify her as a part of the main cast. But other female characters in the game had quite varied appearances. Nia is close to flat chested, Morag is also sometimes mistaken for a guy (her boobs aren't emphasized either). Pandoria is pretty average sized all around so I don't see the claim of sex appeal being a big focus really panning out. The game gave the characters male and female varied body types, it makes it more fun to look at and explore. In a game with easily around 50+ unique identifiable characters (as in not generic npcs) there's probably less than 5 who have large breasts. I don't really see that as a problem.
Anyway sorry this turned into an extremely long post, I had no intention of offending I just felt like trying to give a good response since you seemed to give me quite a long answer yourself.
And if you haven't played Xenoblade I highly recommend you try it and see how long Pyra's outfit (or any other characters for that matter) stays a concern. I promise the game isn't focused primarily on sex appeal.
Thanks for reading this whole comment.
@Yorumi Well hey at least you gave it a try. The story really started to grab my attention most around ch4 or 5, but if it wasn't your cup of tea that's all fine too. I absolutely love the cutscenes in this game and towards the end I craved them more than other activities you can do in the game.
The RNG for blades is kinda long and drawn out I'll agree. But I've beat the game now after 125 hours and so I welcome the chance for the last 10 rare blades I haven't gotten to slowly add more to my game. It gives me something to do while I do extra side quests that I left for the post-game.
I didn't play Tiger Tiger at all until after I beat the final boss (okay well maybe 3 times) and I kept Tora and Poppi as one of my main party members. It's totally not necessary at all. But again I didn't like it interrupting my playthrough but it's a pleasant break after it's all said and done.
There's two sidequests in particular that had awesome memorable npcs that even though there appearance was generic the game helps to remind you that you had significant interaction with them. There's one quest where you help a family of kids that were abandoned by their dad, so their big brother joins the army. Later you run into this big brother 2-3 times and each time he has something important to do for you, one time it's sending stuff back home to his siblings, while another you help solve a murder mystery. Eventually you even encounter the father of this family and you have the chance to convince him to return home to his kids. And if you do convince him to go home he will actually be there with his kids the next time you go visit them. All of these characters had generic models but you learned to know who each of them were. Honestly it was pretty cool.
There's another quest where you help a aging father get in contact with his two children who've moved to separate parts of the world. And even after you finish this quest the family members will still make comments about their family that change every time (it's not always the same message). So I really felt like Monolith spent a lot of time into making living NPCs if you will. They constantly change dialogue to match the events in the world so talking to NPCs can often be a treat.
If you still own the game maybe you should go back and give it a try again sometime. If battles are beginning to take too long you can always try to sleep at an inn to get that bonus exp that helps you level up faster. You can also totally skip Tiger Tiger if you'd rather not do it. If you try and get the development levels up for towns you might see lots of NPC development that you might have missed.
If you have a Wii U I hear Xenoblade X had way less cutscenes. Maybe that'd be something you'd have greater interest in. Either way happy gaming friend!
