Re: New Wii U and 2DS Bundles Announced, Rolling Out in North America this Fall

PrincessSugoi

YES. I've been waiting for the 3D World bundle. I agree with @sinalefa though, it baffles me why Ninty isn't being more creative with the Wii U's in these bundles to milk the hardcore collectors who wouldn't think twice about buying a special edition console. I can just imagine an Orange Wii U with paw prints and little Cat Mario, Peach, Toad, and Luigi scurrying on the gamepad... squee~

Re: Talking Point: A History of the Sexualisation of Samus

PrincessSugoi

@JellySplat That's incorrect. Men do have breasts, can get breast cancer, and in some cases, their breasts can be naturally enlarged (I've seen one case like this with a guy at my high school who had to be about a B cup). Women's breasts weren't meant to be "explicit" or "sexual", they're meant to carry milk. In some cultures, women walk around shirtless all the time and no one blinks an eye. This is part of what is driving a lot of the current debates about restaurants banning breastfeeding and women being able to walk around without bras or shirts.

I see no 'skimpy' outfit here, that's a sports bra + shorts combo that any woman would tell you is far more comfortable to do physical activity in than a bulky space suit or tight catsuit. I don't see any 'heavy' makeup either. I see light, everyday makeup that many women wear to work, school, professional settings, etc.

The most problematic thing I see here are the heels but hey, they look cool and fashionable and many performers/dancers can do a lot of moving in them.

But I have a neat idea: how about instead of treating anything showing off the female form as something meant to be seen as sexual for men, making girls feel like they should be ashamed of their beauty and inadvertently supporting rape culture, we focus more on teaching our children that showing off skin and/or being attractive is not an open invitation and neither does it make you a slut. Samus is a beast. Space heels, make up, and boobies shouldn't take away from that.

Re: Comic Workshop Coming to 3DS eShop on 17th July in North America

PrincessSugoi

I've been wanting a way to make short comics that typically pop into my head at times without needing a scanner and photo editing program. Checked out their site and it does allow you to upload to PC. I prefer Manga style too so this seems like a perfect fit. Will definitely keep some money aside in my account to pick this up.

Colors!3D isn't a bad program but it's sadly been wasted on me, the type of pieces I would want to make with that software are simply better suited to pen and paper instead of the limiting 3DS screen.

Re: New Japanese Law Bans Child Abuse Images, Yet Anime and Games Still Allowed Suggestive Depictions

@Cresartist

"However, I do believe that stuff like this should be stopped. How about the Anime industry starts something like the Comics Code Authority, and I guess the Cero rating systems should also be a little more strict..."

The Comic Code Authority? You mean the very thing that stifled the comic industry's ability to reach the masses early on and turned it into in a homogeneous niche hobby with "white male geek living in mom's basement" stigma? The lingering consequences of it's effects one of the main reasons why current American comics will never see the sales records One Piece and Naruto occur on a weekly basis? The one all major publishers eventually abandoned? You think Anime/Manga should have the equivalent of THAT? (I agree with much everything else you've said though.)

@AugustusOxy Summed up my feelings exactly.

Re: Capcom Could Be Up For Sale After Shareholders Reject Anti-Takeover Plan

PrincessSugoi

Was it reported that Nintendo didn't buy Atlus because they couldn't afford it or is that just an assumption? Because I find it far more likely that they just weren't interested.

From what I was able to find, Capcom is apparently only worth 1.24B. I don't know the process of these things but that's sounds pretty affordable for Ninty. They could really use the extra development studios and they need Monster Hunter, Phoenix Wright, Megaman, and to a lesser extent, Resident Evil to remain on their consoles. Unlike Atlus, I see this being an opportunity Nintendo might seriously consider.

Re: Everyone Was Talking About Nintendo At E3 2014

PrincessSugoi

Not surprised at all. Nintendo and Ubisoft were the most common E3 related topics circulating on my Tumblr dash, I barely saw anything related to Sony or Microsoft unless it had to do with the other two. A good number of those posts were about popular tweets too.

The response to Splatoon is what really floored me. Within two days of it's announcement, it's tag was already filled with TONS of fanart, new fanblogs, and posts from people hyped and excited for the game. Some have even made T-shirts and plushies! Nintendo has a real potential smash with this one and hopefully they're getting all their ducks in a row for a big merchandising push.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Innovative E3 Approach is a Breath of a Fresh Air

PrincessSugoi

With this E3 Nintendo showed while they can be stubbornly traditionally and old school with certain things, they're remarkably progressive in others. E3 has gotten dull since they closed it from the public and the conference format along with it. The Digital Event + Treehouse format is very digestible for me, got the big reveals with the finesse then was able to just pop into the stream throughout the day to get all the footage/additional info then post my reactions on Tumblr (or NL). I think it's a perfect combination for the social media era. I wouldn't be surprised if Sony and Microsoft eventually followed through with similar formats.

Re: XSEED May Bring Physical Copies of Future Senran Kagura Titles to North America

PrincessSugoi

@ferthepoet Exactly. I have no idea where people get the thought that NOT supporting a digital only release somehow tells a developer there's enough interest in the series for them to risk more money on a retail release. Especially since the reason digital only releases usually happen is because they don't think the demand is there. The logic is baffling.

Already did my part in supporting this release so don't need a physical copy of Burst. Just bring Shinovi Vs. and Deep Crimson over here with some of those awesome goodies oh and the strip cooking game too because I kind of need that.
