Re: RiME Developer Confirms May Release for Nintendo Switch Download

PrincessSugoi

Makes no difference to me since I would have bought this digital anyway. Most of my 3DS collection is digital because I'm more likely to make an impluse purchase (particularly with 3rd parties) of something interesting I see scrolling the eshop rather than sitting in a box on a shelf. Plus though I adore cartridges, I'm not trying to lug dozens of them around. Just bring the game, make it good, and you have my attention.

Lack of a retail option does have me wondering if this was a last minute decision and if so, are we seeing the ease of portability Pachter spoke of? Because that would be really good news.

Re: Persona 5 Will Not Be Coming to the Switch

PrincessSugoi

shrugs Didn't expect it anyway. Atlus has been pretty good to Nintendo and the 3DS in particular this generation so I'm really only concerned about them translating that attention to the Switch.

@Beau_Shank

Sonic Mania is being developed by an indie studio so the speculation is that they didn't even have a Switch devkit at the time. That may have changed now or more than likely will change soon. I seriously doubt that we'll get Sonic 2017 and not Mania, if anything, I would have expected it to be the other way around with some BS about "power limitations".

@Pete41608 Nintendo's also had the SMT games, Etrian Odyssey, Persona Q, Dragon Quest, Bravely Default, an Atlus collab in Tokyo Mirage Sessions and god knows how many Marvelous games. That guy has to be trolling.

Re: Newzoo Estimates Less Than Five Percent of Users Have Paid For Super Mario Run

PrincessSugoi

@Niinbendo

"it's nice to see that people are making lemonade out of lemons in regards to the fact there have been 90mil downloads, however how many of those downloads reminded people Mario was not for them anymore/didn't like the game or fulfilled their Mario fix and now may not purchase a Switch based on Super Mario Run."

Pokemon didn't have that problem at all. Go seems to have gotten plenty of people to crave the full Pokemon experience again and that's even after it had lost 60% of it's paying base (Funny enough today while I was waiting in the Advisory office at my college, I noticed a person playing S&M on the Black Friday 3DS). Go was a more positively received game of course but from what I've gathered, most people were fine with SMR itself, they just don't want to pay a "premium" price for it. But they still want to play Mario or they wouldn't be complaining about that looming $10 paywall preventing them from continuing.

All this news really says to me is that Nintendo may need to acquiesce to this mobile culture if they want to reap the full benefits from it. If your intention is to just use mobile as a means to advertise your games then F2P works just fine for that. Consider the initial investment (which really couldn't have been much) an ad expense and since mobile users apparently LIKE being nickel and dime'd to death, you'll earn it back in due time so it's essentially free. Or if you really want to stick to your principles then price it more competitively and keep the game relevant with updates so that people feel like their dollar is going further. However, we've yet to see if SMR will have any impact on how the next console Mario does at all so there's a chance this current approach could work out just fine and we're going DOOOOMMMMM over nothing. 90 million with Android users still to come... that's a lot of minds to have Mario on with a new console around the corner. We shall see.

Re: Feature: Five New Year's Resolutions for Nintendo

PrincessSugoi

1. Must have all the Japanese devs that helped made the 3DS ah so wonderful on board (yeah yeah western support matters too I guess).

2. A strong VC. NES mini, nuff said. It's clear as day people are still clamoring for ways to enjoy classic Nintendo, as am I.

3. COLOR! While I do not expect a constant stream of different iterations and models we get with traditional handhelds, I hope we still see a decent amount of color/design options down the line. Also bring back color cartridges! ;-D

4. A 'Just in Case You Missed It' line. Ports of the Wii U's best like Splatoon, Mario Kart 8, Smash, DKCTF, YWW, and SMW3D should all be making the Switch. No brainer way to help pad out the library in it's first year. Splatoon and MK8 seem to already be on the way but I have those already, I'm hoping more for the ones I haven't gotten around to purchasing yet because I'm hoping I can get them on the Switch instead.

5. No franchise left behind. With their major resources no longer being split in two, there's little excuse to not go all in with the Switch's library. It should be the ultimate Nintendo console, a generation long celebration of their contributions to gaming. No generation skips, more revivals, and returns to form. I don't care if including them was just some one off quirky throwback in Smash, I still want a new Duck Hunt dangit. X-D

Re: Yacht Club Games Still Open To A Nintendo Character Appearing In Shovel Knight

PrincessSugoi

Being that Nintendo had the game exclusively at first (and it did well), there's less incentive to put the type of stuff in the game that the PS and Xbox versions got to sell them especially this late in the game.

What seems more likely is that we'll get our Nintendo crossover with Shovel Knight showing up in Smash Bros. Which would in my honest opinion would be the superior option to Link or Mario showing up in Shovel Knight.

Re: Nintendo is Getting Into the Movie Business

PrincessSugoi

Splatoon and Fire Emblem anime films would be very successful in Japan. They can then get limited releases overseas like the DBZ films tend to do.

As for Hollyweird, animated Mario and Star Fox (in the Disney/Pixar style) and live action Zelda and Metroid have the most mass appeal potential imho. Skepticism is rightfully deserved for the very thought of going into movies, but I would really like for video game movie adaptions to reach the level comic adaptations have reached now where there's been so many good ones with the right people behind them that audiences have their pick of flavor and can demand quality. We just need a Marvel studios or a Christoper Nolan out there to get serious about some properties.

Re: Pokémon Sun and Moon Debut Trailer Confirms Starter Pokemon and Release Dates

PrincessSugoi

@Detective_TeeJay

Same here. Usually I lean towards Grass/Water but the Fire starter is the only one really appealing to me out of this bunch. I'll wait until their final evolutions to make a judgement though because they can always eff up or improve down the line.

I am marking hard over both the legendaries. A sun lion and a moon bat... I mean, could they be MORE conceptually perfect?! I really am going to have to get both versions this time.

Re: Nintendo Download: 25th February (North America)

PrincessSugoi

@Gunplagamer Ahhh so that's why it took longer. Good to know, thanks.

Btw @Ryu_Niiyama How you been feeling since the news broke that the girls are coming back this summer? I'm freaking because I was going to Cali to visit a friend this summer anyway and now I can line up my trip so I can see them too

Re: Talking Point: The New Nintendo 3DS is Yet to Have a Real Chance to Revive the Portable Family

PrincessSugoi

@Ryu_Niiyama Ahhhh so lucky. I wasn't able to go so I'm desperately hoping there's a 4th World Tour. The MV is very beautiful and touching. I got that sense of reflective-ness as well before entering a new chapter in their lives. The girls looked absolutely gorgeous (well, they always do but even more than usual). The song reminds me of Spending all my time in the sense that it sounds more like the current western music scene than their usual mix of old school melodies with electronic "futuristic" pop. The solos are everything. <3

Re: Talking Point: The New Nintendo 3DS is Yet to Have a Real Chance to Revive the Portable Family

PrincessSugoi

"Revive?" That implies this was meant to be anything more than a stop gap to get existing users to buy another 'best version' of the same handheld. Everything about this-- even the timing of it's release screamed DSi 2.0. Not shocked in the least at the way it's been handled.

Anyway, they missed selling me on this upgrade with that 'XL only' stunt they pulled for NA. In the time since, I've been sold on too many other games and a new system to be spending $200 on a purely cosmetic upgrade.

Re: Nintendo's Second Mobile App to Feature an IP "Very Well Known to Everyone"

PrincessSugoi

@bluedogrulez

"Nintendo is not on mobile until Mario is on mobile."

My sentiments exactly... and probably the sentiments of a lot of that casual/mobile market they're after too. My niece is one of those kids that loves Temple Run so a Mario variation would be an instant download. I know for sure my mom would play the hell out of a Dr. Mario mobile game, and my brother's always looking for a traditional Mario on mobile before I have to remind him that Nintendo isn't (well, wasn't) on mobile. As much as some hate the over reliance on Mario, he is what's going to get this ball rolling.

Re: Poll: Which Nintendo Franchises Do You Most Want to See With the NX Launch?

PrincessSugoi

For the handheld, a main Pokemon game will be all I need. Anything else is icing though I'd like to see another revival or return of a dormant franchise like F-Zero, Ice Climbers, or Advance Wars.

For the home console: Animal Crossing, Metroid, and a new IP to show off what the system can do. Definitive editions of Smash and MK8 would effortlessly pad the launch window with whatever 3rd parties they manage to get on board. And not necessarily for launch, but I'd really like to see a new Duck Hunt game as an eshop title.

Re: Story of Seasons Sequel is Coming Soon to 3DS in Japan

PrincessSugoi

Wonderful.

Intrigued by the three village setup, makes me immediately think it's going to tie into shipping and trading. Also makes me think they're going pretty big with this game for the anniversary. Hope that includes making the mine huge again, that was a major disappointment for me last game. Three more locations is also a chance to have a bigger dating pool and maybe one village can be big on fashion and clothing and have shops you can buy and sell?

Ooh, better stop my imagination lest I end up disappointed with the final product.
