I don't even need them but omg those wired controllers and car chargers. If I ever have another period with just extra money to blow, I'd get the red Mario controller for sure.
Out of this list, Odyssey is the absolute definite this month. Preordered and all. Aside from that, Stardew Valley is another Day 1 must have. Went out and bought an eshop card for it as soon as it's approval was announced. I'm ready.
As for any other purchases made this month, they will rely solely on reviews, demos, and gameplay videos. LA Noire does pique my interest a little more than others though. The premise sounds right up my alley.
And stories like yours is EXACTLY why I do care about such a 'non-issue' as the appearance of a 'silly' icon. The Switch is a tricky enough sell as is being a tablet as that automatically makes the average consumer think it's just another iOS/Android machine. The gaming icons certainly do not need to be assisting in that perception by resembling the cheap, pixelated, gaudy and low effort messes that plague app stores. It'd be a bit different if the Switch had themes like the 3DS that take up most of the aesthetic and the icons aren't so prominant but with the interface so minimalistic and the icons SO huge, ugly mobilesque travesties stand out as big eye sores.
Even without considering it's appearance to others, I just frankly don't want my sleek new gaming console looking like something out of the appstore bingo strip whenever I'm on the homescreen. There's guidelines set in place to prevent this and I'm glad the community has been speaking up.
There were only 3 people in line at my local gamestop when it opened and 13 available. A much smoother and more fun experience then I expected, there is definitely more stock this time around than for the NES mini but I imagine it's going to be harder to find as a day rolls on.
My closest gamestop informed us yesterday they'd have about 20 additional SNES minis in stock once they run through preorders (didn't ask how many preorders). This is just a hole in the wall gamestop in the mall, I imagine the bigger stores have more.
Overall, I think they are keeping their promise of producing more. For a plug and play the likes I typically see in drugstores plentiful, these minis are just stupidly popular. I still have no idea how Average Joe and Common Sue even became aware of their existence.
I'd say the devs are doing a bang up job raising awareness of this game. Had no idea it existed until they promoted the current sale on reddit and now this competition. I'm looking at reviews/gameplay videos now and am seriously considering spending my leftover eshop funds on it.
So glad this is finally coming. This game is insanely gorgeous and like most Bokujou Monogatari games, perfect for handhelds.
Thing I'm most excited about? AN ACTUAL MINE. Bokujou Monogatari has simply not been the same or nearly as addictive since they reduced "mines" into holes in a hill. Still have no freaking idea why that decision was made.
I thought it was my imagination or general lack of interest for why I knew nothing about these versions but glancing at the comment section, it appears there really is little known about these titles.
I haven't even finished my original Day 1 copy of Moon yet. Got to the Elite 4 and just never picked it up again for some reason.
I'm in my happy place right now just from that preview. So many Casino Night teas. Sonic 2 is my favorite Sonic game and one of my favorite games ever so I'm soft for anything that taps into that nostalgia.
The rest of the game could be garbage but if they keep showing me Sonic 2 inspired footage from here to November, I'd throw my pocket book at Sega.
Agreed. There's been a floodgate of these 8 bit/16 bit pixel art games in recent years. There's some out there you can tell are actually in it for the aesthetic value as it shines through with the level of detail and clarity. But many are just starting to come off lazy with these blurry messes.
I'm pretty interested in the premise of this game but the "artistic" choice here is a turn off. I'll wait for a review.
My favorite and most fondest Nintendo memories will always remain in the early 90's with the whole family sitting in my grandmother's den some nights and playing Super Mario World, Dr. Mario, Contra, and Legend of Kage for hours and hours. These are also some of my earliest memories as I was barely a toddler.
Large part of why Nintendo remains the gaming company I display any kind of loyalty to. I grew up with their games and consoles. Even my high school graduation present was a DS Lite.
I just really appreciate how Bethesda is going all in and willing to bring over a range of their games and seeing how it goes instead of just ONE game and then bouncing if that particular game doesn't sell well. It's not just about bringing over a game, it's bringing over the right game that'll appeal to the correct audience. I hope their faith in this partnership with Nintendo will be rewarded. I certainly plan on picking up DOOM.
I'll give it a spin on mobile then decide if it's worth the Switch port for all the content. $30 doesn't phase me, have easily spent more in one sitting on other F2P games.
Never thought I'd be so happy to type that out. This is seriously great news. I've been wanting this since Skyrim was announced but I thought Bethesda would play the "let's see how that sells" game. But wow, actual genuine 3rd support. It's a concept!
I was... actually joking when I said months ago that Deluxe was going to sell another 8 million+ just from being Mario Kart alone.
Well, being that I got it Day 1 despite already owning it on the Wii U should have been a sign this was exactly what was going to happen since I rarely double dip.
This honestly says more about the Switch's stocking issues than anything else at this point. IIRC 4th week sales were higher than the Wii U and 3DS's? When stock is there, it sells just fine.
@Dezzy Well.... if we assume they aren't the same audience then about 80K of them bought 1-2 Switch and considering this is Japan, I'll take it the remaining 20K bought Dragon Quest?
Digging and loving the red however the new layout is a bit difficult on the eyes to navigate. It should match up perfectly with my touchscreen laptop once I get used to it though and I imagine would great on mobile/tablet when I access the site from those.
I was one of the fans that left feedback that I'd willingly pay for the DLC and I'm glad the response was strong enough for them to go through with it.
Got my copy of the game last night and I'll be sure to make good on my word to purchase the DLC to repay them in kind for taking the financial risk to make all the content available.
Was passing by the TV last night and was floored when I saw a 1 2 Switch commercial playing on USA during Monday Night Raw. That was a mere pipe dream in the Wii U days.
Excuse while I go cry into my pillow because the guys that conned Wii U owners into funding their mediocre game won't support a platform with virtually the same audience.
Guess I'll just have to comfort myself with the three superior racers that are already signed, sealed, and ready to be delivered to Switch owners in the system's first few months.

Re: Projection: First Light Will Bring Shadow Puppetry to the Nintendo Switch
Not terribly original but the historical concept does make it intriguing.
Re: Stardew Valley Arrives on the Switch eShop This Week
My eshop balance is ready.
I'll try to finish up Sonic Mania this week because if this is anything like classic HM, this game is going to consume me.

Re: Poll: A Retro Quest - Were You Able to Buy a Super NES Classic Edition / SNES Mini?
We got ours as soon as the nearest Gamestop opened on Friday. My family has been thoroughly enjoying it all weekend.
Re: SteamWorld Dig 2 Gets a Hot New HOME Screen Icon
Much much better. An icon worthy of representing their game instead of that freemium looking nonsense from before.

Sitting here playing SMW on our mini right now.

Re: ThinkGeek Confirms That It'll Have Launch Day SNES Classic Stock in the US
@iammikegaines @Drummertist
Whoa. Good luck to you both.
I may or may not just go to my local gamestop first thing tomorrow morning. Still not entirely convinced I want it that bad.
Re: Random: Super Mario World Artist Confirms Mario Really Was A Jerk To Yoshi

Going by ebay, I'm seeing prices ranging from $150 up to $650. One active bid is currently at $70 (but could go up later).

Re: Rumour: Source Who Leaked L.A. Noire Switch Port Drops Hint That Grand Theft Auto V Is Next
I've had plenty of opportunity to play GTAV but never have because the series simply has never interested me.
A Switch version would hardly change my mind but I realize this would be a significant title to bring over so hopefully his hunch is correct.
Re: Switch US Retail Game Sales 'On Pace' for Nintendo's Best Launch Year Since 1995
Provisos aside, it's obviously doing very well and is on track to be one of Nintendo's great success stories.
Re: Pokkén Tournament DX and Nintendo Switch Lead the Way in Japan
I'm finding it amusing how even as just a port, Pokken continues to mob the floor with some of Capcom's latest (though not so greatest) fighters.
Re: SteamWorld Dig 2 Has Had the Biggest Launch in the IP's History
This game isn't in my current plans but will be down the road. Very pleasing to hear they're experiencing such success.

Nice. Right on time too, just bought an eshop card to purchase this.

Re: WWE 2K18 is Confirmed for Nintendo Switch
Great stuff. We get this every year and our PS4 went to that great console maker in the sky a few months ago. But the Switch is working just fine.
Re: NBA 2K18 Shaquille O'Neal Special Editions Coming to Nintendo Switch
And with this news, I'll be certain to buy this in support. Not into 2K at all but my brother is and should enjoy it.

Tank Troopers and that SOS theme for me! Might also take a look at Back to Bed.
Re: Nintendo Confirms Expansion Pass DLC for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

This game completely flew under my radar. Going on a buying spree next week, will make sure to put this on my shortlist.
