They rally just want to ensure people aren't on the edge of their seat for an announcement during the Direct., so they can focus on the games instead. ^^
That is absolutely insane. Well done. If someone has too much time and too much money, this still is a pretty harmless and interesting way to spend both.
This is the only thing that would make me consider repurchasing this game, after buying the Wii U game and paying for both DLC packs for that, while also getting those horrid Mercedes karts forcefully crammed down my neckhole.
Nintendo is up to a point where comfortably achieving a 10X in processing is manageable. Considering the current state of Moore's Law, even 20X could be on the table.
And 10 - 20 times the raw processing power -IS- the point they'd want to reach for a new piece of hardware to look attractive. IF, as reports suggests, they aren't going to challenge the media format in any substantial way.
I should be VERY surprised, however, if Nintendo din't opt for some form of curveball added to the equation.
Alright, it landed here as well now! And... it's kind of a mess. Original resolution doesn't scale correctly, and there really still isn't any auto-turn option available for the motion controls, despite the game obviously knowing the exact yaw of your controller, as to accomodate turning when you're pointing off screen.
But hey, it's free and and lot of people here seem to be happy, so who am I really to complain. ^_^;
But still no auto-turn for the gyro controls. I bought this bundle long ago, but like all FPS on Switch, this omission means I'm not having fun.
European release seems to lag a bit behind as well? For now the two games have individually been made unavailable for purchase, but the new bundle or any form of update isn't available just yet.
@Shigarui Oh, well, that does sound like a good time. I'm usually more interested in the development of how you traverse the areas as a player, than I am in the mechanics of combat, but this sounds like something that won't be too cumbersome.
@Shigarui Big metroidvania player here. Enjoyed Hollow Knight, The Messenger, and the remake of Dragon's Trap lately. Also previoously had a good time with both Metroid and Castlevania, of course. :v
Meaning we're already back to 25% above this same time of year two years ago. Nintendo is still worth more than it ever was before the stock split in the fall of 2022.
With Nintendo usually claiming a good slice of the sales price and LEGO deferring the price for custom bricks when dealing with licensed IP, I'm not surprised these sets are expensive. ^_^;
Looking very much forward to this! I love the sense of humor they infused Shovel Knight with, and I'm hoping to see equally bonkers concepts and equally terrific game design in this game. :v
@Zeebor15 Hoho! Though to be fair, the guilty party in taking down THQ was quite specifically the uDraw tablet. Quite an expensive hardware venture, that ended up flopping fairly hard.
And while I'd of course like to see a sequel, the whole debacle about its lengthy and costly production, and its subsequent cancellation, with Michel Ancel leaving Ubisoft, I don't think it's likely to happen. ^^
These are some of my favorite games, and I'd given up on thinking EA would allow the franchise to be picked back up!
Very cool to hear that Philippe is back to update the already amazing soundtrack, though I wonder where and if the original writer/designer/programmer Frederick Reynal is to be found in this project.
I hope they know what they're doing if they're trying for a PSX/N64 style 3D game. Been a fair share of those around the past five-ten years, and not all of them representative of the best the era had to offer. ^_^;
Prime Remastered probably serves as a primer (haha) for both the development team and the audience for Prime 4.
And... I really hope they don't call it Metroid Prime 4. Call it Metroid Prime, but give it a subtitle instead of a number, and please don't let the phazon story go on. Let the new game be its own thing.
@Poodlestargenerica Headhunter had apparantly been put on long-term development hiatus long before Build even released. So to me, that there sounds like they're coming up with a more "edible" explanation than the real one.
Or, Headhunter was proving a little too expensive early on, so they paused it and really did hope that finishing Build first would buy them some time and audience excitement.
Is it the same people that ten years ago were very vocal on how black people should be able to relate just fine to white video game protagonists, or else black people ought to make their own games, who now see black protagonists from black creators as an issue?
Some of them are very big games, and often the graphics are new or have at least been dusted off. If you haven't played them before, I suppose $60 isn't too crazy. But obviously some have more effort to them than others.
Generally, I have to reminds myself to appreciate how Nintendo (mostly) doesn't nickle and dime me once I've paid the up-front asking price.

I will disregard this entirely, just like all the other silly timelines.
Re: Worms Armageddon On Switch Will Also Contain The Game Boy Color Version
Been many years since last I played Worms with anyone. Perhaps it is time again. :3

I don't know if it would be "too much" in general, but I wouldn't pay it.

This looks more fun to me than Super Nintendo World. ^_^;;

That's the real crime here.
Re: Toby Fox Shares Another Development Update On Deltarune Chapter 4
You know what Toby, it's fine.
These games rely entirely on the writing, music, and world building, so please don't be in a hurry.
Re: Braid: Anniversary Edition Sales Have Been "Utterly Terrible", Says Creator
Sorry about that, Jon. I already own the game.
It's terrific, but I've already beaten it twice because of THAT bit.
I would've probably bought a Switch release of The Witness.
But, now I'm just waiting patiently for your next thing. <3

Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns HD Costs $60 On Switch
Nintendo officially laid both "many sales = cheaper" and "old = cheaper" in the grave many years ago.
You can say what you want about their approach, but at least they're still very up front about "product = price".

The Frenglish is noticable in the first game.
Let's see if dialogue lines are rewritten / rerecorded for this release.

Well, sure. It'd would be too difficult to really bother.
Also, I don't think anyone cares anymore.
Re: Estimated File Sizes For Donkey Kong Country Returns HD And Mario & Luigi: Brothership Revealed
I could easily see DKC Returns bloat a bit from story sequences being rendered out as video files, rather than running in-engine.
Re: Some Of The "Original Developers" Are Working On Mario & Luigi: Brothership
I'm excited for this title because I want to see Nintendo really make an effort with the stylized 3D graphics.
We've had a little much of soft matte surfaces over the past decade.
Re: No, The Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Trailer Was Not Running On 'Switch 2'
I don't know who would have believed that to be the case.
The fidelity was fairly clearly what you'd expect from the current Switch.
Re: Random: Welp, Now Nintendo's Going After Sheet Music
Music rights, sheets being no exception, are a big deal.
But it -IS- wierd to DMCA people you already have a working licensing agreement with.
It might come down to a disagreement on distribution methods though. It often does for Nintendo.

If so, that's both funny and tragic.
Re: Random: Nintendo Of America Appears To Have Updated Its Sign
Nintendo's been very "loud red" again since the reveal of the Switch. And it suits the brand.
